TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Weird green pool problem

I've tried removing that part of the pool, and the square would remain. I'd remove the flooring, and it would remain. I could build a pool all around the square, but that looked stupid, like a fluorescent green island. I guess I'm going to have to grow one of those shrubs that grow in cement on the edges of pools. You know, like what you'd do in real life if a bright green square suddenly appeared on your property. Realism? Screw that.

That's pretty much how I feel about this green square thing. Ouch. I've had the building tool get stuck, before, so now I make sure before I go back into gameplay, I switch to the "hand grab tool thingy". I hope I'm not being too technical, here.

I swear I searched, but I didn't even know what search terms to use, so it was fruitless. "Green build mode thingy"? This problem has followed me from my old laptop. I have no idea what it is, and the only "solution" I had for it before was to exit the lot without saving when I saw it appear. Unfortunately, I seemed to have missed it during my most recent save, so now it's stuck on my lot. This pool was built MONTHS ago. I have not added onto it or modified it at all. I don't even know if I've been in build mode, recently. Seemingly out of nowhere, the bright green that shows up when you're building a pool, or selecting land to level, shows up on the corner, while in play mode. Most times it's this corner. Sometimes it's 3 corners. Sometimes it's two. But it cannot be built on, deleted, 'sploded with the stuck objects remover, or lot debuggerified. It just. won't. go. away. Any clues?

I believe I have such a hack in my game. I'll look right now and see if I can find it.
Edit:
Grrr. Can't find it, but it's late and I'm half-asleep. I KNOW I've seen one, though. I thought I had it downloaded, too, but maybe I was on my work computer when I found it. I'll keep looking, because it's something I could use, too.

You need to set your in-game resolution to something that is proportional with your actual screen aspect ratio, or else everything will end up looking warped.
Well, I haven't had the problem on the macbook pro. I just had to get used to seeing my sims as they were supposed to look. I also haven't had the blurry clothes issue since the laptop I had when I made those posts back in 2006. That was a HP zv5240us or something like that. It had an Ati Radeon 9000, which was crap. After that, I got a Winbook with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 with 128 dedicated, and had no issues with blurry clothes. The card in my mac is pretty good, so I'm guessing the blurry-clothes issue I had was because of my crapola graphics card back then?

I "randomly" had this problem back on my old laptop, and the texture of the blurred clothes would appear a bit better on a lower graphics setting. It was very frustrating. The grass was blurry, some of the clothing (but not all!) was blurry, and objects were clear as day. There was a thread about it here a long time ago, but I don't think anyone ever came up with a real answer. Sometimes rebooting would clear it up for me, but the problem would still sporadically occur. Edit: Yes, it's been posted here, and I posted pics from when it was happening in my game in this thread. (Heh - OT, that's when I had a weird resolution, and all my sims looked wide. I thought they looked "normal" back then. I play those same sims, still, and they're much thinner on my mac. )

I've got a house in Pleasantview that is now unplayable (unlit plumbob overhead in n'hood view) because the game is convinced the family is still on vacation. Only half the household went on vacation, they got stuck via the taxi-takes-them-right-back-on-vacation-after-bringing-them-home glitch (with the taxi refusing to show back up at the vacation property after they made the call to return home), and I ended up teleporting them into another lot in Pleasantview, and moving them in, as Kat suggested. The vacation house (Brickstone Chateau in Twikkii Island) is now uninhabited, but the original Pleasantview house is still unplayable, even though there are about 5 sims living in that house that never even went on the vacation. I had the owner of the vacation lot sell the property (he was one of the stuck sims), but that didn't free the Pleasantview lot, either. I do not have the patch installed because...I don't know, at this point. How much more problematic can things get?

The Seashells are particularly sadistic because the Prima Guide publishes the lie that they decrease bladder decay, when, in fact, they do the opposite. And with them, Brynne has an accident on a nearly hourly basis. Yeah, and I'm pretty pissed off about it, too. Har, har, har. * Brynne kicks the seashells

You're running at the bare minimum specs (especially for Seasons! Wow), so I would definitely up your RAM. I think the lowest I ever played with was 512 mb, back with just the base game, and it was almost unplayable once I added cc. Now I play with 2 Gigs (different computer) and it runs like a dream. Your graphics card could be upgraded, as well. I think 128 mb dedicated is the minimum recommended video memory. This will give you an idea of what you're looking at.

I won't let any of them learn the sea chanty etc. until I can find a hack that stompinates them to my satisfaction, because I know that's something that would drive me insane.

I'll bet they can once someone makes that non-autonomous, but still in the pie menu. (Edited to finish this sentence! ) This is what happens when you take away the Sea Chantey skill while they're singing. Sim me sounds totally hammered. And this is why I wanted them to stop. (There's even peeing in this one! I turned the camera away, but then they started singing in the bathroom. ) edit: the video is jerky because I was filming on high settings with sound enabled. It doesn't do that in gameplay.

The lag problem almost seems to be a random issue. I've seen people with higher specs than me saying they have lag. I haven't had any lag whatsoever, and I play on a laptop! It's a macbook pro, mind you, so it's a pretty powerful one, but still. My game loads faster than ever, with over 6 Gigs of cc. The only time there's any lag is when one of my sims is getting a sunburn or a tan, but it's just a few seconds. Doesn't bother me, much. The launcher is easily bypassed. The most annoying thing about that, to me, was that I was used to clicking the shortcut icon, and going to get a drink or something and coming back to find my game loading. With the launcher, I'd come back to find I was supposed to have hit "play". That's what made me bypass the launcher, not any of the spyware talk. Yeah, I'm goofy like that. I've had the same bugs I've seen documented elsewhere: the taxi taking off for vacation, again, as soon as it drops the family off at home (my sims don't just camp, they re-re-re-re camp!), not being able to walk to other lots, things like that (many of which have fixes, now). And the same annoyances: ENDLESS sandcastle building. Thank god for no autonomy hacks. My sims were wanting to go build sandcastles in a friggin' thunderstorm, and I had to lock them in their house. Bwahahaha... I played with free will off most off the time to stop that Sea Chantey obsession. But, all in all, I love, love LOVE this EP. BV is, IMHO, the best EP since Nightlife. I have become so addicted to the game, again. Unfortunately, I have very little time to actually play it. I'm still at my office right now, and it's almost 11 pm. I'm jonesin'. Seriously.
