Someone may have noticed this potential conflict, but trying to read through 16 pages of posts started heading in the direction in which I'd need to pop some excedrin.
The Leaf Pile Bed seems to conflict with TJ's Smart Bed mod.
I say "seems to" because I tested it with the the mod and it caused a "too many iteration" error, and tried it without the mod and the issue went away.
Seems 100% to me but well.. yeah..
What plugins (if any) are you using? I have the relax plugin with the base mod and have never had a problem with the leaf pile. I'm pretty sure I have the most current version for AL. "Seems to" seems like the best way to say it, indeed.

Like many here, I never saw a good reason to downgrade to pudding. Why have pudding when you can have pie, specially prepared just for you with mods, cc, and hacks?
I don't know why Pescado is pudding-pushing so much, because even despite the ululations that Sims 3 has everything Sims 2 had and moar! (well, at least minus drunkenness effects and actual dominant/recessive genetics), it's just not a mature pudding. It might be someday. Heck, I didn't switch from Sims 1 to Sims 2 until Seasons had just come out.
I think the traits and moodlets are too transparent and take a lot of the "surprise" out of the game. With Sims 2, knowing how the code works might allay some of the surprise, but I still am encountering issues that I've never encountered before in Sims 2 that I've never had need to know how worked. Even if you know how the code works, such as with personality points, you can get surprised just because you might not have that in the forefront of your mind while immersed in play.
For instance, for the first time, I had a child catch his father cheating the other day and he just started sobbing uncontrollably. I didn't know that this was in the game code. I couldn't get it to happen again. He was also my first runaway teen. That may be 2006 to some people, but I was completely surprised and amused by it. I'm a slow player like so many here, and I don't get a lot of chances to sink hours into playing anymore, so perhaps that's part of it.
The Sims 2 community is still alive, but mostly it's over as GOS now. And it's, in many ways, better than ever.

Here's where you get to stomp all over me--I have 51,000 cc pkg files (12 gig).
Wowie. Twice as much as me. Congratulations. My game has been crashing everytime I enter any lot.
And ooo-- this sounds familiar. This is where my game will usually crash, too. I can hardly ever download other people's lots because they inevitably crash my game, except for a few blessed ones from Witch and Emma. I suspect it is some sort of timing out, but that is just speculation on my part. It seems to me you probably have the same problem I do. Most of those downloads are being used. My neighbourhood has probably-- frig-- 250 user-created Sims using custom cc, and my lots are built without maxis objects-- I would have to ditch the neighbourhood and start anew if I changed my download configuration. My neighbourhood spans an entire fantasy world with eclectic cultures all needing that different cc. I'm thinking I'll be playing Sims 2 again when I make a better, more awesome computer. By then, everyone else will be playing Sims 4. Thanks. The error msg says "[insert file name here] can't be recreated." And, I will try much smaller increments for moving.
This suggests that you have a lot of files in a single folder. If you haven't already, subfolder and move chunks slowly.

Did you try deleting groups.cache? Clicking on the icon and getting nothing is a syptom of a corrupted groups.cache file, isn't it?
Task Manager never shows any Sims 2 processes during this time (in the past when I had a game that crashed during loading there was usually a Sims2 process going on for a while at least).
Groups.cache always crashes the game after the process is showing. ritaxis, have you tried replacing your .exe with a no-cd version? If so, does the .exe disappear yet again?

And this is where we are now. It won't load at all, or rather freezes my computer when it tries to when it has the hacks in.
You may have another hack conflict. Seeing your past issues, I would not be surprised. Have you used Paladin's Sims 2 Hack Conflict Detection Utility? It can be found at http://www.simwardrobe.com/ under Sims 2, programs. It will spit out a conflict report, and but is up to you to take out conflicting files.

If no one else wants to tell you this, then I will: you're probably screwed. If you have a boot CD or recovery partition, perhaps you can restore a working version of Windows from it. If this was a store-bought box, you should have one on hand somewhere. It seems to me recovering files in this manner would be the smartest thing to do, because this computer sounds very screwed up.
How did a user get partially deleted? Why are you missing core Windows files? What do you mean by the motherboard not being able to read the 'VGA?' The VGA connector is a port that connects to your monitor. If you have a monitor attached, it is working. Do you mean AGP? If so, there could be a multitude of software-related reasons that happened, especially with the other problems you are having.
Find that boot CD, pronto. That's my advice.

Though originally my problem was a bad hair mesh and I noticed that some sims that I tried to clone and put hair back on them the new hair I had downloaded ( I had to go and download all fresh hair) wouldn't work on them. But SOME sims would work with the new hair and if I went to build a new sim entirely the hair worked on them as well.
I am wondering if you mean that you: a) downloaded a completely new (to you) hair mesh and are having problems with it, b) redownloaded an old hair mesh that worked previously, and find it is not working now, c) redownloaded a file that was causing you errors and you thought a fresh copy would fix it.

If only I had had the lot debugger on the lot I could have reenabled controls. It's just kind of ugly so I just buy it as needed. I'm a fool, I know. I quit without saving.
That's why you should use Lord Darcy and Dizzy's batch file on the latest lot debugger! A daffodil in a vase is not so unpleasant, no?

This has only occurred with children directly after they grow up. As far as I can recall, it has happened since basegame without hacks. The condition usually corrects itself once the sim goes off-lot. If this issue is similar, I would suggest taking the sim off-lot and seeing if they reset back to a default walk.
I always thought the newly-grown running child thing was a feature. How disappointing.

Do you have any abduction hacks or any hacked telescopes? This was a major issue when Freetime came out, and if you're running AL, you're running Freetime as well, whether you have the EP or not.
Edited out an atrocious abuse of apostrophes.

I'm being forced to reinstall my games and wondered if there was a way to save the characters in my neighborhood but not the neighborhood itself. I don't care if they lose there their memories, houses, friends ect etc.; I just don't want to have to resim everyone.
I see many errors, but nothing bothers me more than the non-word 'dont'. Edit: Ha ha! I didn't remember that tomorrow was Grammar Day!

Well, hand deleting the folders in Program Files and deleting the keys in the registry would be your next step. I have had crashing problems for some time now. the game lasts for different periods based on nothing I can work out.
This sounds like standard Sims2 play.

every time I start the game it crashes at Performing Pops and Locks in the loading screen. I have been able to successfully start Body Shop numerous times. No custom content at all now.
I had this happen when I only had Pets installed. I wish I could offer some better advice. I just bought Seasons and installed it and that fixed the problem. the computer shuts off randomly so I can't use it now.
That most likely means you need a new power supply in that computer. It will probably die soon.

OM NOM NOM. Delishus spore creatures; I ate them. I like that piratey squid of yours, Faizah, and the Dracis. Also, Cerberus is teh awesome. I love how easy it is to steal other people's creations. I just drag and drop, baby. Now you can have a few splotchs of mine. I know-- you were just dying to have them. All I have is Creature Creator right now, btw. Huh? Why did you change the header flag and tree version? No, what needs to be added is a "My category := Const 0x106:0x60" (raw is 3B0060430005031A0000000000000000) line to the init bhav (which it looks like its already been added to some of those.
HOLY CRAP where did that JWoodsKeyBoard_22205a.package come from? It looks like they re-wrote most all the globals.
Thanks; I'll try again here. I only did that because the FT base game piano had these settings, so I mocked them. I couldn't find anything else to change, and being that most of these were fixed, then it is no wonder. original version by JWoods and the one updated by Numenor to be compatible with Atavera's hack.
Thanks for that-- I went and grabbed the Numerion version-- which is NORMAL. I'll test today, but I'm pretty confident in these. Nine custom pianos updated for use with Argon's hack, UNTESTED Healthy and well: http://www.mediafire.com/?egdukyy4wnnUPDATE! 5 additional pianos. Redownload.
