TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Some Store objects revert to original colors
|
on: 2009 December 29, 14:02:14
|
I have noticed that some of the store objects will not keep their customized CAST patterns after being placed in a moving family's inventory. Yesterday, I also noticed that the problem happens with the "Overachieving Counter" if I try to put an appliance in it, or make it a corner counter.
When this happens, the instance of that object will no longer allow me to change its style, leaving me stuck with the stock colors if I want to use it.
I'm wondering if others have seen this same problem, and if there is a solution. It happened with just the base game, and it still happens in a fully patched WA install. None of this store content is paid for, BTW.

I was assuming that, like similar programs for Sims 1, that only edits the CATALOG values, and maybe the values that the object advertises to Sims, but not the actual values used for need replenishment. If anyone can confirm (through testing in-game and/or examination of files with SimPE) that the actual behavior of the object is changed by using the Categorizer, I will happily fix all my beds with it, but I don't think it really does work that way.
I used to edit all my custom beds before I eradicated all my custom content, so I can confirm in my experience that it changed the behavior of the object. I had the beds match an excellent mod that I can no longer find that changed all the values for the Maxis beds as well.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Shiny Sims Genetics
|

I decided to delete all of my custom content and start the game up fresh fresh, but in the process I forgot to save my genetics from ShinySims. Seeing as how the site has now closed, does anybody know if there are any sites that have archived stuff from there? They had some of the best genetics ever!

FWIW, I'm also using Firefox, but I have no idea if I have NoScript installed or not. I went onto Simchic yesterday when the virus was first announced, and nothing happened. Did a couple of scans, nothing.
Go to Tools->Extensions for a list of all the extensions you have installed. Additionally, NoScript puts a icon in your status bar of either an "S" or an "S" with a strike through it.

Also, Pescado, I hope you have plans to update the LTW Variety Hack and include personality/interest related stuff. So that an interest in animals actually has some affect. An excellent idea. I'm glad I thought of it. Heh. While you're busy thinking up such brilliant ideas, any chance you could also tune down the Own 5 Businesses wants. Maybe based on Aspiration as well, if it isn't already, but also tweak interest related requirements, perhaps with Money, Work, and whatever else you may deem relevent in all your wisdom and awesomeness. Ste PS. Turns out Best Buy around here and NYC did not get OMFGPETZ!!!!!!!1111oneone yet. My excitement quickly turned to disappointment when I got there. So... I guess I will have to wait 'til tomorrow hopefully, if not the by the end of the week. I'm actually having quite a hard time finding it in NYC myself. Odd for a city you can find everything else in . . .

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dormies + Servos On Campus Mod

If you mean two dormates in one room, it's possible, but problematic. If you're going to use the maxis doors, you need to have two of them and each person has to claim one. If you do this, it's easiest to make sure both sims are controlable, because if you have a controlable sim and a random dormie in there, you might have room disappearing problems.
Also, you could try using a maxis doors for all the other dorms and normal doors (or hacked lockable doors) for your room, but the game will bug you that there's not enopugh space for all your sims to live in, unless you hide a door in some random spot.

To keep funds seperate, you could try buying items equal to the money you want to seperate and storing them in that sim's inventory. I think the items retain their original value as long you you put them directly in.

Public colleges in the US are not all that cheap either. I'm in New York, and the city/state schools are $2,000 a semester.
This is cheap compared to most decent colleges in other states. I'd say here in Missouri (where I live), the average per semester for the well-known universities probably hovers around $5000-$7000. Bear in mind, I'm not talking about private college cost in NY, which is out-of-this-world.

I occasionally get my pregnant sims to meditate during the entire pregnancy. It keeps their mood stable and gets their meditation skill up for teleporting.
