TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Quick business-related question
|
on: 2010 January 18, 16:45:19

I did a search but couldn't find anything. Am I right to assume it's a VBT to hire tourists/locals/iconic hobbyists as employees for my businesses? I recall something about this topic, but I can't remember what the verdict on this was.

EAxis care about their customers, I really believe they do.
Do you work for EA or something? You are clearly one of the sheeple to even consider saying that. I've never seen a company treat their customers with as much contempt as EA does. If they are showing any "care" for their customers, it's some half-assed attempt merely to hold their own against their newly merged, and much larger, rival.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Owned community lot no longer a business.

Well something very odd has happened here.
Basically I have a sim who owns a salon business. I haven't played the family in quite a long time, since way before I installed AL when it first came out. Anyway, I sent my sim over to the business, and although I can access Buy/Build mode and offer free makeovers, the lot pretty much acts like an unowned community lot. There is a cashier NPC at the register; there is no business tracker; everyone acts like it's an unowned lot, and the doors are unselectable (although fortunately my lock setting is still evidently there, keeping the peasants out of the employee quarters). I have no idea what has happened and was wondering what to do next?

To be honest, I'd rather see a base game house or something. Last time we did a house that was weirdly shaped, not many people deviated from the original structure, so a lot of the houses were quite similar. With a more ordinary sort of house, people tend to run wild with it, and I enjoy seeing what people come up with when they do.

TS3 was supposed to include the entire World Adventures thing, too. I saw references in the code to a moodlet for "Adventure", just like with weather and pets, meaning all these things were ALREADY in the game and were intentionally cut. We know they already existed because they are already solved problems, and thus the only reason they are not present is because they were intentionally cut to be resold seperately.
Lies & Propaganda of a different sort, eh? I'll be laughing when they refer to these as brand-new features down the track. Well it explains why this EP is being pushed out pretty quickly. It's not surprising in the least though. The Sims 1 EPs were made because people kept demanding them. The Sims 2 EPs were made because of expectation, and they used some concepts and ideas from things that never made it into the game and the stuff of olde that people wanted back. The Sims 3 EPs were planned from the beginning and are just pre-existing crap sold seperately.

The Urbz was okay. Decent, but not as interesting as it could have been.
I think TS1 for console is the only one that is actually any good. I mean, it actually looks better than the PC version, your sims can actually die during the story IIRC, it has humour and does the goal based gameplay much better, as it just gives you some long term goals to achieve over time rather than the rigid "Go here. Now go there. Now do this" which the other console and stories games did.

I like those display homes a lot. I might even have to covert them into apartments in The Sims 2.
My only criticism is with the actual livable house. I feel that the roof at the very front could actually extend into the middle roof, but that's a minor thing. You've done a really good job here. It's quite hard to fill up a big house, and you've made pretty good use of the space, while leaving just enough for the inevitable extra expansion crap. Good job.

chobeegal - + 10 for color and creativity. - 15 for choking that poor house with plants, shrubs and trees. OK, Honeywell, so I guess you don't like plants/flowers/shrubs/trees. Are you like those people who go and buy a beautiful wooded lot (which because of the trees costs a lot more than the barren lot next to it) and then bulldoze them all out? If I had my way, those kind of people would be prosecuted for stupidity. If you want a "naked" lot then buy the one that already is. Don't pay extra money to get the one with trees and then murder them. Personally I love to have lots of trees and greenery surrounding me and where I live. Rather than "choking" anything, they add a sense of freshness, "breathability", and yet privacy to a home. My one great complaint w/ Sims2 is that if I actually put as much "landscaping" into a Sims lot as I would like to have in RL, it makes the house totally unplayable. Sorry, but hundreds of trees in a straight line and clipping through each other is not a good look. I have to agree with Honeywell that it's a shame, because the house itself really does look nice. Some nice houses this month. The house for this month is much more versatile than the last one. I might give this one a shot.

I'm amazed that they would even consider fixing that much. Anyway, these two interested me the most. Sims will now get the "Witnessed Divorce" moodlet from watching other married Sims break up.
Did this actually exist before, or is this an entirely new moodlet? Sims can no longer "Try for Baby" with the Grim Reaper.
What a shame.

Saw the same last night after I debug-spawned several ghosts in the default 'hood graveyard in a new save.
That's exactly what happened to me, ages back. I even made a post about this back on the picture thread. Mary-Lu is a default ghost, who was grave robbed and dumped unceremoniously onto my sim's lawn. After Rhoda Bagley's first day back as a playable ghost, a pop-up for Mary-Lu Broke (who also resides on the lot) suddenly came up saying "Gotta go, bye!" She gets in her car... And then disappears into the science lab. Her grave is still around, but I just thought that was really weird and random.

I just loaded up my game after having to reformat and reinstall.
Has anyone seen this before? Any suggestions or do I just have to uninstall and start over again?
Yes, this happened to me. I think removing all package files and reinstalling Riverview via the launcher fixed it for me.

Dead Sims can probably be found in the Mausoleum (graveyard rabbithole), but you need to be a 'loved one' of the deceased.
In my experience, this is the case most of the time. However, I have ended up with the odd gravestone of a sim that none of my sims have ever met, and one time my playable sim's mother (who lived on another lot) died and her grave simply did not appear anywhere.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I would like a Smoking Mod - Can it be done?
|
on: 2009 July 23, 19:39:50

You don't even need a mod to simulate smoking in Sims 3. Just do what I do. Pick a smoker. This sim must spend a fixed amount of money per day on useless crap and then delete it. This sim is only allowed to bathe every 3rd day. This sim is completely restricted from having the Genius or Great Kisser traits and MUST take the Loser trait. This sim must be killed off before they turn into an Elder. There you go. An accurate simulation of smoking in Sims 3 without even having to make a mod! Ahahah, that made me lol. Just a few suggestions, though: Realistically, only 1/3 of them would need to be killed off before becoming an Elder. Deleting items returns your money; it'd be better to have some sort of repository so that when you buy something, you can then delete the items you bought 4 days ago, to actually lose the money properly. Or just shove it in the inventory, where it can clog everything up much like in real life.
