1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Non-derelict stuck vehicles on: 2010 July 30, 21:13:17
Thank you, I'll do that. Knew there had to be something simple.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Non-derelict stuck vehicles SOLVED on: 2010 July 30, 21:08:25
OK, so I read the FAQ and am terrified to post, being a 'stupid F' but I'll try anyway.

I have a stuck vehicle in front of my Sims' house which is not a derelict.  It is a taxi, with the driver sitting inside it.  It has just been sitting there for two Sim generations now.  In one of my other neighborhoods I have a similar taxi sitting on a bridge in town that has been there a very long time.  It doesn't bother me as much since it's not in front of the house I'm playing, but I always see it in map view.

They aren't hurting anything I guess but it bugs me to see that one in front of my house day in and day out.

I have no other mods than Awesomemod.  I use no custom content other than some EA store crap and my own create-a-crap stuff.

I have used fixall and towderelicts with no effect on the taxis.  I have tried to use moveobjects but they are not selectable.

Is there any way to get rid of these?

Excellent, that is pretty well exactly what I needed.

Thank you.

I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I was very grateful to Jordi and Hitch for providing information on how to upgrade custom fridges to Seasons menus.  I did it despite being mod challenged, and it works beautifully.

It did make me wonder, though, if a thing that has bothered me a while is possible to fix.

I have used "Lizzie Love's Waterbed of Love" for a long time.  I've searched occasionally for recolors of it and never found any.

Is there any way to add the functionality of this object to any of my other double bed objects in the game? I would love it if I could just have some of the Maxis/EA beds with the same menu features.

I don't know how to recolor objects myself - I have done a little recoloring of hair and clothing when I first got the game, but it isn't what I like to do.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I used to make quilts and my cats always wanted to sleep ON the sewing machine, right on the folded project currently being worked on.  We also have one cat that always likes whatever seems like a 'new' place.  I left an empty laundry basket sitting out the other day (rare occurrence for us) and she hopped right in and slept there all afternoon. Cold empty plastic. Yuck.

But no, my Sims cats never ever sleep anywhere near the condo.  I have one set that actually sleep outdoors in the grass mostly, outside the pet house I got for them to breed in.  They were my first cats in the game, and I thought they didn't sleep in the condo because it's in the room with the TV, but none of the other cats I've had in game since will either.

I have a Servo that I made when OFB first came out who is my playable nanny surrogate.  Any time I have a working couple about to spawn I move Rosie Jetson into the house and she takes care of the kid while they're out.  She is a family sim with no job, most skills maxed now, and some badges.  In the family she's currently in she's acting as gardener as well.  When the kid hits Teen Rosie finds her own place again and waits for the next baby.  Rosie also has a full complement of child care stuff in her inventory and a variable amount of cash she brings in, which is useful for other reasons.

I really dislike NPC's because they do amazingly dumb things that bother my Sims.

Thank you, I was trying to package the lot to a file so I could clean install it into the new neighborhood.

I have been trying to weed out my original Pleasantview neighborhood which is ten generations old and full of families I rarely play any more.  I have some families there I'm very attached to.

Thanks for the advice.

I have all expansions up to Petz, and have Glamour Life stuff.  I have looked for the answer to this over on the Sims BBS, and also tried a search here to see if anyone else was reporting it before I made an even bigger idiot of myself.

This is the second time I've had this problem.  The first time, I was trying to save an entire family and a large home stuffed with custom junk to file, and had this exact situation.  I never resolved it, and have just left that family sitting in cold storage, pretending they aren't there.  Other than that time, and this one today, I have not tried to package any lot in some years - since before any of the expansions to Sims2.

Today I have been trying to move one particular couple out of my very old Pleasantview neighborhood into a new cleaner one.  I moved them out of the family home and onto a freshly laid empty lot, hoping to minimize custom content issues.

First I tried moving the lot to the lots and houses bin.  The game hung and I had to restart my computer to start over.

Then I tried packaging the lot into a file.  It hung, did the reset loop music error, and crashed the game to desktop.

I disabled all custom content and tried again. Still the same results.  I moved them onto a different empty lot and tried again. Same thing.  It is just the two of them there, no house, no pets, no nothing...

I can move them out of the lot and onto any other lot I like. I can go into their lot and play them with no apparent issues.

Any thoughts at all on what else I might try or what is causing this problem?

All of my game hacks are Mr. Pescado's or TwoJeffs.  I use the Director's Cut and update it regularly.  I have a fair amount of other custom content.  I have not tried actually moving my downloads folder out of range to see if that makes a difference, would it?

Any input would be appreciated, or instruct me if there is other information I could provide that would help with problem solving.

Even some alternate way of shifting the lot from one neighborhood to another would be great.

Thanks,
Laura

It seems it was the Autoyak.package.

I had completely forgotten that in my original removal of 'all hacks' I decided I didn't need that one and totally deleted it, so it was the ONE file (of course) that I didn't put back in.

So yeah, for me at least taking it back out fixed the problem.

Bleh!

I thought the double file was it, but it was not.

Today I noticed while playing that I didn't have autoyak anymore, so I re-installed the 7/31 version into my game.

Then the Nanny wasn't showing up at all, or was showing up and leaving, and so on.  Also it wasn't showing me enemies or family, just friends in the call options.

SO I just took it back out and we'll see.

It doesn't say it's NL compatible, so I should have known better I guess.

If it isn't that, the only other difference for the family I was playing is that I just bought that family a car, and Dad who is the one whose schedule is being tracked is the one who "owns" the car.  Could the non-appearance of a car pool be the problem?

Hi there, I didn't see where anyone ever posted any response about the original problem.

I finally got NL and just came in here to update all my old hacks.  All I have are Pescado's with the single exception of Merola's mirror.

Yesterday, after finishing up everything including the patch, when I had my poor single mom call the nanny before leaving for work on Saturday while her child was home, Nanny showed up, Mom went to work, Nanny promptly left.  I managed to keep them going by having Becca called the Nanny herself every time she left, but ick.

Nanny would usually stay about 1/2 hour of game time before leaving, and often wouldn't even come in the house.  She'd enter the yard, view the flamingo, then the van would come back and she'd go.

I used Merola's mirror to peek into her head, and I was getting the van icon to replace whatever autonomous activities she thought of doing, after just a couple seconds.  I tried clicking it off each time, but I couldn't keep up with it.

I disabled ALL custom content using the EA feature in the game startup, and that fixed it, so then I knew it was indeed something of my downloads.

I came here and saw this post, but no answers on what was up.

So, today, refreshed, I went in and carefully put ALL my hacks in a single folder (which I had never done - everything was a mishmash in "Downloads").  I tried to make folders a while back for hair, clothing, etc, but I don't know how to do that easily, and I am a Sim fashion addict. I have HUNDREDS of custom clothes, hair, eyes, etc.

Then I started up the game

To my surprise, my OLD (4/05) Lobonanny.package had snuck into one of the few folders I had set up - it was tucked in the middle of my clothing file.  It appeared in the top window of the startup custom content information.

I deleted that, started up again, game was fine.

Then I put back my hack folder a section at a time.  NO problems.  Including the new (7/05) lobonanny.package.

So I think what happened for me was I had both Lobonannies visible to the game, and it was conflicting.

Hope that helps you.
