I am refusing to move on to TS4. Hell, it took til TS4 was released before I was willing to really play TS3.

No. It was bought as a gift for me, and it's very very pretty, but DAMN is it boring. I occasionally play TS3 but fucked up when I bought a disc for IP and now Origin is required, so I removed it all and have to start over (yes yes I will pirate IP like I should have from the start). I have TS2 fired up right now. Still the best one.

Zombies were SO LAME. You don't even get properly attacked by them, there is no brain munching, etc. But all the Twilight spoofs are VERY funny.

The resetsim command worked for me without AM, at least with interrupting abductions.

If the sim queues up the investigate action, pause the game and reset your sim. It's what I do when I don't want the possibility of alien babies. I have no idea if this fucks things up, though.

I am still playing TS2. I have both installed, but I never get any farther than designing houses on TS3.
