1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 October 29, 00:26:45
I recently started a new sim in a new town, and just went abroad with him for the first time, to Egypt. I collected all the items from egypt (camera/tent/shower-in-a-can/food/skill books etc.), and also got a load of gems from exploring the Great Sphinx (I was cursed by a mummy).

However, when I got back to my home town, a load of the items I had gathered had gone. All the gems/rocks, moneybags and artifacts, the storage chests, cherries, pomegranites, and crocodiles, the skill/food books, and I think all 3 cameras (I bought all 3 types of camera to test if the camera stuck bug affects all of them). Some stuff didn't dissappear, like the mummified teddy. The only error ErrorTrap recorded was the 4 crocodiles I tried to bring back

I'm having the same issue with missing inventory -- my sim had an Opportunity that could only be filled by going to Egypt, and lost a bunch of inventory while there (all their caught fish from their home world) and when they arrived back home didn't have anything but the fruit they purchased/harvested. I'm running the latest beta of AM and no other hacks.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: my game crashes in live mode with AwesomeMod installed on: 2011 October 29, 00:12:19
It was the version of AM I was using. I had previously downloaded the one from the main AM thread so downloaded and tried the beta instead. Now my game at least works (although now there are *different* problems, although I don't know whether they're related to the latest patch, AM, or both).

Thanks for your suggestions.
3  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / my game crashes in live mode with AwesomeMod installed on: 2011 October 25, 06:09:33
I'll say it first so you don't have to: I'm a n00b. I'd been playing the base game only, no expansions, until a month ago when there was an AM update requiring I patch my game to be able to use the new version. So I chose to finally install all the expansions up to Generations, no stuff packs, and eventually got it working with AwesomeMod -- until the latest patch/Pets, which borked my CC. I decided to do a complete uninstall and reinstall, and have run my downloaded CC through the tool TSR put out. I also have patched my game up to date using the patch installer from MTS.

So having to use the framework is new to me as well since I had only played the base game. I followed what instructions I could find, here and on the Sims Wiki, to install the framework, but obviously it is not installed correctly because if I put the newest AwesomeMod into Mods\Packages the game crashes as soon as I go into live mode. The game functions without it, but I am not willing to play without AM at all.

The game and expansions are installed under G:\Program Files but the CC is under C:\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages with the sims3packs in the Downloads subfolder, as they should be.

I have a few questions:

1. From what I've read in the posts here the framework is supposed to be installed in C:\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages with the Resource.cfg file in the Mods folder. But I've also seen instructions here that state the framework is additionally supposed to be installed in the Program Files directories (base game, and one in each expansion's folder as well). Is the Resource.cfg also supposed to be in each directory under Mods? I can't seem to find anything that addresses this. And the Program Files directories don't have a Packages subfolder after installing the framework-- only the one in My Documents has that.

2. There seem to be multiple Resource.cfg files, of different sizes, depending on where they are downloaded from, and I am not sure which one is the appropriate one to use with my particular setup.

Please, I'd really appreciate some help in getting AM working with my game again; it's not much fun playing without it. And thank you. Smiley
4  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker on: 2011 September 23, 19:47:34
So the 3booter files should be extracted to (and run from) the G:\Program Files\The Sims 3 directory? That's what I'm getting from the posts on this thread. (I have G:\ as a secondary partition of my HD) Sorry if I'm being obtuse, I just want to clarify that I'm doing the right thing here.

Should the FPS limiter also be in the above directory?

Yes, I'm a n00b with computer stuff, but really don't want my video card burnt up. I had to replace it last year and can't afford another one. No matter where I've been putting the above files I haven't been seeing the green numbers show up and the frame rates are climbing above 100 (and pressing F12 doesn't seem to do anything to bring them down).

Thanks again.

EDIT: It seems to be working now, in the base game directory, for both the 3booter and the FPS limiter.
5  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker on: 2011 September 22, 01:39:09
I have been getting issues with the frame rate going above 100 after installing World Adventures, Ambitions and Generations on top of the base game.

Was running the base game just fine with 3booter until a few days ago when AwesomeMod was updated again, I got the latest version, tried to patch my game and got errors related to the game not finding QtCore4.dll. This led to installing the above exp packs in the hope that I'd be able to play again.

I really don't want my video card frying, so to that interest I have a few questions. The Sims 3 and exp packs are installed to my G:\Program Files directory. No stuff packs currently and no Medieval. I'm using Windows XP.

1. Which directory should 3booter be in? G:\Program Files\The Sims 3 Generations, or G:\Program Files\The Sims 3 Generations\Game\Bin? Or somewhere different altogether?

2. My 3booter.exe file has a file date of 2/3/2010; is there a newer one I should be using?

3. I downloaded FPS Limiter 0.2 but even after reading this thread am a bit confused over where to a) extract it, and b) install it.

Thanks, all. Smiley
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Problem selecting objects on: 2010 August 10, 13:16:40
I pulled up the game I'd been playing before this happened, haven't put any CC back in the game yet except for AwesomeMod. Unfortunately, I still can't select certain things either in live, buy or build mode, so can't replace them to see if the new objects work. Older saved games (from months ago, same neighbourhood) work, but not the latest one. And it was a legacy, too... oh, well. Obviously it was the neighbourhood that got corrupted.

Anyway, I'm trying to look at it as an opportunity to start fresh -- WA has been sitting on my computer desk for months, uninstalled, so I'll pick up Ambitions as well on the way home, install those, and then start the tedious process of putting back my CC.

Thanks for all your help.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Problem selecting objects on: 2010 August 10, 04:50:48
Thanks for the replies... I removed the sets added recently, started up the game, and still can't select anything. Sad
I ended up taking out all my CC, and started a new game in Riverview using the Newbies as test subjects, and the new game works normally, so it has to be something else in my CC that got corrupted somehow.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Problem selecting objects on: 2010 August 09, 12:50:18
Hi -- I hope someone can help me. My sims can't interact with objects, furniture, etc. any more, and when I hover my mouse over a couch (for example) a sim's name displays. They can't be directed to change channels on the TV (because it's unselectable now), plan outfit with the dresser, etc. Buy and build mode are screwed too, because even newly bought objects exhibit the same charateristics.

I have the base game installed and patched to the latest version and also have the latest version of AwesomeMod. The only new things I installed before this happened were a couple of the free furniture sets from Simcredible.

I'd really appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks! (I do have to go to work soon, so will not be able to reply until later tonight)
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Brace yourselves! on: 2006 June 29, 05:36:07
Well, the mirror is amusing -- I'm not interested in having it in my game, too weird. Especially since my computer is in the livingroom and anyone walking by the window can look in and see what's on the screen.  Tongue

It would be nice if someone came up with new animations that could be used without embarrassment. I still remember BNJ x LVR's violin for Sims 1.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Slow cashiers! on: 2006 April 05, 10:54:03
I transformed the Mercantile Mart into a modern art gallery for one of my Sim families to own. None of them had badges at first, so they hired a couple of employees. One had a silver cash register badge.

Anyway, I noticed that a *lot* of customers were throwing down their bags in disgust after waiting too long at the register. The cashier was just standing there... and standing there... and standing there. So I assigned her to "tidy up" and the owner called one of his daughters in to work the cash. I cheated and gave the daughter a gold cash register badge, but she does the same thing. Sometimes she'd ring up the customers promptly, other times not. So the same thing would happen with customers throwing bags down and leaving the store.  Roll Eyes

It drives me nuts to watch that. Real cashiers wouldn't just stand there looking like doofuses with a line of customers waiting to be rung up. Is there any way to fix this, some kind of hack out there or is it possible to make one? I'm just curious, not requesting anything.

I'm glad to see the site is back up. Smiley There are only a handful of sites I visit on a regular basis and MATY is definitely one of them.

It would be nice if there was a visible link to the chatroom, maybe at the top of the page.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flashing red pool on: 2006 March 17, 06:19:21
I don't have any lighting mods in my game. At the same time I got OFB, I also got a new video card, and updated to the latest drivers... this is probably related to my other problem with bluescreening/rebooting. I'll see if rolling back the drivers fixes the problem, because there are families I can't play right now because of the bluescreen.

The bluescreen message does cite an ATI video driver "atidvag" (I'm sure this is spelled wrong, but can't recall the exact spelling).

Thanks for all your help. Smiley

13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Flashing red pool on: 2006 March 16, 20:21:52
Some (not all) of the pools in my neighbourhood are flashing red since installing OFB. I tried replacing the pool, but it didn't help. Also, in neighbourhood view I've had some lots flashing red.

System specs: Asus A7N8X mobo, 1 GB RAM, ATI Radeon 9550 PCI vid card w/128 mb VRAM, 120 GB hard drive w/ 48 GB free space. All expansions installed with the exception of the Holiday Pack.

Does anyone know what is causing this? My neighbourhood was fine before installing OFB but this (and other problems) are making it not so much fun to play.

Thanks,

14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I think one of my families might be hosed.... on: 2006 March 15, 00:43:39
The files in my game get scanned regularly with Clean Installer and Hack Scanner, and when this problem cropped up I rescanned again and found nothing that wasn't supposed to be in the Downloads folder (I never download lots off the Exchange, and won't dl lots from anywhere else after having found the mailbox hack in my game after downloading a house from a website).

I found the log that corresponded to the original "Too Many Iterations" error... anyway, here's the first 22 lines of text in it:

OK, I really didn't want to bump this but can't find a solution on my own. I can't believe no one else has ever had this problem, and now graphical glitches in the neighborhood view have made it impossible to play AT ALL.

I'm about ready to tear my hair out.

Would someone please, please help me??
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / I think one of my families might be hosed.... on: 2006 March 11, 07:46:38
but I'm not sure. Sad

A couple of days ago I played with testingcheatsenabled running in order to get rid of the pre-existing ReNuYu orbs on my lots. I hadn't removed them before installing OFB.

While playing with one of my sim families I got the "too many iterations" box pop up citing the name of one of the adult sims in the family. I clicked "reset", he jumped back, and I thought all was well. However, a little while later I got the bluescreen of death, still on the same lot, and my computer rebooted after dumping physical memory to disk.

I've played other families without incident, but the bluescreen has happened twice with the same family, so I initially thought it might be the lot that was the problem. Tonight I built a new home for the family, moved them into the bin, but when I tried to move them into their new home got the bluescreen again.

Help, please?

Thanks,
SunKitten

I'm having the opposite problem with my Radeon 9600 (new card, just installed a week and a half ago)... things are less clear than they were, and become incredibly blurry at the highest settings. My computer has 1 gb of RAM, but it's an older one with an Athlon 1800+ processor. I don't know whether updating drivers will fix it, but hope so, since I can't afford a better computer for a while.

Thanks for the welcome, ZephyrZodiac. Smiley

I'm another one who comes here mainly for escape (and for the great hacks, heh) but will probably lurk a lot more than post until RL is a little less grim.

but I hope Motoki does read this thread and realize how many people think well of him and how much he's welcomed here.

22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Buying/Planning Outfit Crash Problem on: 2005 December 04, 15:23:47
It could be a low memory problem. I've had the same problem, but not in a while, and it was always with specific items of clothing; I posted in another forum about it and received no response.

But I have an app at the top of the screen that shows memory usage, and if I'm playing a Sim (especially on community lots or downtown) and the memory gets below 40% free, my game crashes. It could be that specific items of clothing are causing the problem.
