1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 09, 21:26:04
I'm only patched to the latest, no Ambitions. Dig sites aren't unusable. Gives a route fail thought balloon when I click on them. Happens if AM is installed or not.
2  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 09, 06:04:14
Reporting in with a seemingly bug free, vanilla Sims 3 1.2.7 as of today's latest build. No issues with some solid play time invested.

Same here, with WA and HELS, no Ambitions but latest patch. Even vacationed for a while. No bugs.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Building/Upgrading a PC for TS2 on: 2008 January 19, 10:06:33
Just to brag...

I just got my new system put together. A cheaper dual-core, mid-range motherboard, nice video card (GeForce 8800), and 4 gb of ram.

I run seamlessly at max settings. With almost 1.5 gb of custom content, my initial load screen is 35 seconds,to the 'hood is about 5 seconds (its sparse), to a lot is about 5-15 seconds depending on the size. And running in a window I can task out to other stuff beautifully.

I'm pretty sure its all the extra RAM (which is cheap as hell now), but whatever the case it was worth it. No load times. About $900, shopping carefully and splurging a little on the case and keyboard/mouse and silly stuff.

I've been running patched BV with the original cracked exe from the BV no CD thread. No problems.
5  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 21, 05:32:07
Most probably not. You moved something into the wrong directory, would be my guess.

where are we on cleaned up templates? This thread IS getting a little confusing.  Is it done enough where the original post can be updated?
6  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 September 20, 23:20:37
Is there a problem with just hitting the garbage pail button on the Traveler family?

dewshine did something like this with Enayla's skins by changing the genetic values to <1.  Not your exact algebra, but its a start.

Sure! Otherwise it might be actually useful for some weird ass screenshot or something.

Homeless man: Perfect for those of us who want to use the full capabilities of OFB: Organ Harvesting.

11  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Female Nude Skintone Overrides, Base Game through Seasons: Girly Bits on: 2007 September 13, 03:39:56
Yay boobies!  I wanted some nice basic ones for my new restart. There's too many wierd complicated ones scattered in different places. These are perfect.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 10, 23:26:39
It said something like "Saved games from this expansion won't work anymore."  It didn't warn me that it would delete all my custom content, projects folder, .sc4 terrain, etc.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 10, 22:20:51
Wow. I removed it, just BV. Figured I'd wait for the patch and wait for more updated/tested hacks.

Not only did it delete my neighborhoods, it deleted everything. My entire EA Games folder!  Thankfully I had it all backed up, but it seemed a little extreme.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 05:56:19
No, the dumb Maxoids said that the vacation hoods would default to something suitable for their climate. The beach one is summer-summer-summer-summer.  Or at least it was before I tweaked it.  Wink

Yeah I was just pointing it out. I like spring/summer/fall/winter defaults so I haven't clicked on that seasons button since I installed it.  I kinda forgot it was there Smiley  I just wanted to point it out if you are in the same boat. I can just see the "halp its always winter!" threads in a couple of weeks.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 04:59:14
Climates for vacation hoods work the same as for other hoods. As in, you can choose which seasons and their order.  Weather (lol) or not they are actually applied, I dunno. Haven't played enough.

Note that you have to remember to go into the vacation hood and set the seasons. Easy to forget since there are no playable sims there and the only other reason to go there is to build stuff.

Edit: Something I just noticed, by default Three Lakes has seasons set to fall-fall-winter-winter. Surprising, I would have thought all the defaults would be winter-spring-summer-fall.  Something I wouldn't have checked normally and could cause potential confusion.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 03:22:18
Yeah, that works. I'm just thinking about the least time-consuming way to change a whole bunch of Sims attractions.  I know Nightlife stuck that potion into every Sim's inventory when you installed it. I'm wondering if re-installing Nightlife would do it again without breaking the game.

Ooh, cool. I really like those Emma.  The island one seems perfect for my Uni. Thanks.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there! on: 2007 September 07, 02:24:12
All of them? Rar'ing them up right now, 80% done, its at 171 mb.  Shocked

Edit: Was just going to say what PAM said.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there! on: 2007 September 07, 02:02:09
Which ones do you need?  I have all the default Maxis ones backed up and can upload them for you.

My Dumb Question: Regarding Turn-Ons, do pre-existing Sims get to add or change theirs in any way now that there are more to choose from? If so, how? I'll be annoyed either way, as it will mean a lot of tweaking! LOL

Existing Sim's wants didn't change.  I guess you have to use that potion.  Didn't Nightlife dump one of those in every sim's inventory?  I wonder if re-installing that would do it again.

My Third Dumb Question: I'm seeing that a lot of people are alreayd having problems with Walk To Lot. Is there a restriction on what lots you can walk to? Is it only within-same-hood lots (which would make sense)? Is there a certain distance limit? Do they have to be able to see the lot they are walking to (my assumption is yes, they do)? I'm trying to figure out if it is a click option, requiring the Sims to be able to see the lot in question first (and for the player to adjust how far the Sim can see in the video options menu?), or is it a different kind of menu option, say, when they reach the edge of their own lot (and thus spawn a 'where are you going?' pie menu)?

Works just like the taxi interface. You click on yourself, click "walk to lot." Brings up a dialog asking you who is going.  Click that, your sim walks to the edge of the lot and you load the community lot. You can go to any community lot in the hood, downtown, ofb suburb, etc.  Its exactly like the taxi except you don't wait for the taxi. In other words, the taxi is now obsolete as far as I can tell.

My Fifth not-so-Dumb Question: In terms of stability, I understand that Seasons was pretty decent. How is BV holding up? I'm seeing lots of complaints about lagging, but am not sure who has what other EPs / RAM / etc.

Mine is working fine, which is surprising because my computer is getting old. Every EP, P4 2.2ghz, 1 gb ram. Haven't experienced this lagging issue.

What (in your opinion) did EAxis get right?
It does what it is supposed to do, you can go on vacation.

Quote from: Lorelei
What (in your opinion) did EAxis fuck up royally?
Time issue  Sometimes I wonder if they even test  their games.

Quote from: Lorelei
(In your opinion) is this as useless an EP as Sims 1's VAC EP (which I loathed)?
Depends how you play. If you didn't really use community lots previously, I imagine you wouldn't use vacations.

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV problem - That hood's not supposed to be there! on: 2007 September 07, 01:19:10
This happened to me (before BV). I figured out it was because I had put one of the empty templates in the wrong place. The various directories and shuffling stuff around can get confusing.
22  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighbourhoods + townie creation (updated for Seasons on: 2007 September 02, 10:12:36
I don't get the SS situation. Sorry, read the thread but just not clicking.  I've never done the SS so maybe that's the problem.

I want my Sim to be taken "naturally" as in without forcing it.  With the totally clean templates and all the noregens. Do I need to make three dormies via the shrub and since those are the only three choices, they are automatically SS members?

Basically I wanna know how many dormies I have to make in a totally blank neighborhood so that the SS works.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Stop me from buying Seasons -- AGAIN on: 2007 September 02, 09:26:09
I renamed my Seasons EXE to Sims2EP5Original.exe so I know exactly what it is.

Very important to do that, I've been burned so many times.  Often a patch or add-on won't install unless it finds the original exe (because that is being patched itself).

So before you install any updates/eps, get your cracked exe out of there, and rename the original back to its proper name.  Then put your cracked one back and hope it works. Doesn't seem to be much of a problem with Sims, but its frustrating when updates fail and you can't figure out why.

A hacked exe is perfectly legitimate for use with legally purchased software.  EA games might hate you for it and they will ban you if you mention it on the BBS, but you cannot be prosecuted so long as you own a copy of the game.  Downloading the game itself is illegal, but downloading things to make the software you own less annoying is not illegal.

Totally true.  Read the disclaimers on GameCopyWorld or GameBurnWorld.  You own the game, you are fine. Otherwise those sites would have been shut down long ago.

And lol @ this situation. I like how getting an illegal, pirated, cracked copy is easier, faster, and works better than getting a legit one from EA.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: *! THIS LOT HAS NON-LEVEL EDGES !* explanation on: 2007 September 02, 09:13:23
You can avoid it by using completely flat terrains such as Sedona and Viper Canyon in your actual lot building. Prevention is better than cure.

Yeah this seems way more complicated and frustrating than I wanna deal with. Any other relatively safe terrains (I have all the expansions)?
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting rid of Veronaville and Strangetown? on: 2007 September 02, 09:00:30
He's saying that if you muck up your game because you deleted one stupid file, you can get it back easily from the game cd rather than doing a whole re-install. Most games aren't so forgiving.
