Um, you don't put the empty templates in your My Docs directory -- you put them in the Program Files directories, under their respective game '...\TSDATA\Res\Neighborhoodtemplate' folders.  The game creates the default My Docs Neighborhoods stuff the first time you run it.

Thanks
I am putting the empty templates in the right place.

I should have been clearer that it was when I set up my Downloads folder that I looked in the My Docs Neighborhoods folder and noticed that all the others, N001.... etc, where in there but not F001. I haven't played the game at all yet so I didn't expect to see them.

So were they generated by adding the next EP since I haven't run the game at all yet?

I am in the process of doing a full reinstall of my game and adding FT to the mix.  I have all EPs and 3 SP.  I though everything was going smoothly until I started adding the empty templates I got here.  That's when I noticed that I don't have the F001 file in my neighborhood folder,(C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods).  The F002 file is in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 FreeTime\TSData\Res\NeighborhoodTemplate\F002.
Does this mean that my install disc is defective?
Should I take it back to the store and get a new one or is there a way to extract the F001 folder from the disc and insert it into the game?
Also, if I ever get it installed correctly, can I play the game with only the 1st patch so I can use the current no-cd crack?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick answer.  I thought as much but with this game I didn't want to take any chances Grin

While using JMO's tutorial to delete some unwanted character files from my game, I noticed there were a lot of .bak files in my character folders.  I checked and they are even in the character folders for 'hoods I've  never played.  They are all the exact same size as the originals.

Are these files necessary and if not, can they just be deleted?

Looks like frobnicate is just a fancy name for tweeking.  I haven't had the guts to find out what you can frob using it.

Maybe its just there to frob our curiosity.

Well, if you use a cleaned up template for your college, (I'm sure there's one around) then create your college which should then have no dormies, create as many dormies as you think you want and then go into SimPe you can mess around a bit with their personalities

In the Uni section of SimPe there's a box you can check to make the YA "on campus".  Wouldn't this automatically make them show up as dormies?

I have noticed the same thing on the lot where my dog breeder lives.

The pet beds are in a room adjacent to the family room but there is only an archway, not a door between the rooms so I guess the sound carries into there.  Now the dogs ( 3 of them at the moment) are taking turns sleeping in the doghouse out on the back porch which was previously only used for breeding.

I moved the stereo to the kids playroom and use a non awesome hack to get my Sims to automatically turn off the TV whenever they are finished watching it.  That helps a little.

Is it possible that stuff like this gets left in the game on purpose to give Modders something to tinker with?
