lol. Shut up. The adults are talking. And the Launcher issues are caused by mods? Heck, if you have a NVidia card and 195.62 drivers, you might get the BSOD caused by how much they fucked up the launcher. ... It shows how much they tested the damn thing.
The funny thing is the Tool over there suggested that we turn .package files into .sims3packs as the way to solve the WA slowdown issue, but if we did that then after THIS patch we would have the issue of even moar CC not working. ... The only saving grace is that the Tool was ignored and few sites use EA sims3pack wrapper.
And yes, people ARE stupid. ... One of the causes of WA slowdown was having TS2 packages that naturally was going to fuck things over but people's stupidity does not excuses EA's own stupidity.
O rly? http://thesims2.ea.com/update/index.phpThere was about 1 patch per expansion, TS3 has this: http://www.thesims3.com/game/patchesLet's see ... 1.2.7 : Fixes critical bugs 1.3 : First real patch. 1.4: Fixes the ABILITY TO UNINSTALL THE GAME! 1.5/1.6: The World Adventures Upgrade. 1.7/2.2: Fixes the save game issue with the 1.5/1.6 patch 1.8/2.3: World Adventures Patch + CAW + Store As for this part of your post: Oh yes, "updated very often" to clean their own mess as in the rest its just like TS2 with one patch for expansion, granted they are updating the core with expansion functionality by a patch but considering how many patches (3/5) were released to just correct fucks ups that should not had been present in the first place if they actually HAD a Q&A team ...
Now we learned something called "context", more patches does not mean more support ...

So my choices are clear on this subject, [space] of course we COULD get a answer for the man himself over further 1.7.9/1.7.11/2.2.8 support, [you do not need this extra space] but hey, it's not that I am expecting much ... certainly not from "senators".

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 2.3+CC bullshit. I refuse to reinstall AGAIN.

Okay, so I've been scouring various forums and google for the past 24 hours and I can't find a working answer to my problem. basically the launcher refuses to install about 70% of all my sims3packs, it goes through the motions, saying either "package already installed" or success. But yeah, that's pointless. Because either way, the installed icon doesn't pop up next to the file and therefore it's not in the game. I've tried the .dbc trick copied it to the packages folder and modded resource.cfg, but it didn't work. I deleted every single cache related garbage in the documents folder. Emptied out the [Stray quote deleted] library folder in the documents folder, emptied out dcbackup folder, even deleted everything in dccache. Then started up the launcher and tried to install everything from scratch. No dice. So I tried the TSR launcher just for shits and giggles. It refuses to even start up on my system. I would just extract all the sims3packs to my mods\packages folder, but that doesn't help me with EA content like Riverview, and etc because I've heard that they're encrypted and probably can't be extracted.
Any suggestions? Because yeah. I'm about to spaz.
As for this sentence: BTW: I've seen the Riverview fix by coyote, I'll give it a try, sounds like it'll work, but that still doesn't explain how to get the rest of my CC and EA content back into the game.

I decided to try and build a College Rampage optimized dorm, a la Nec and Annan. I'm not sure if I succeeded, since I haven't had a chance to play-test it. Made with all EPs and SPs. The lot is packaged as residential, in case you want to change things around. To use this lot as a dorm, just open the cheatbox and type "changelotzoning dorm" without the ". I decided to team up colonial exterior with a modern interior in this attempt at an AwesomeSpec house. This was not originally planned to be symmetrical, however, I discovered that the One Desk area was too small. Additionally, I regret that I did not get a shot of the back, but I can fix that. Anyway, on with the picspam: Front: Floorplan of first floor: Floorplan of second floor (fuck yeah consistency due to laziness): Addtional screengrabs (click to enlarge): The living room: Moar living room: One Deskistan: That dining room: The front, taken at night: Download it here!

This month we are going to pimp out 104 Riverbend Road, rebuilt in Base-game Starter. I replaced the umbrella with the expensive sculpture because they are both 2x2 decorative items. On with the pictures: Rules, cut and pasted from last month: 1. No CC. Please indicate stuff packs so people who wish to download your lot know what to expect. Pictures are required, either available for download, on a slideshow, or posted in this thread. 2. By entering this challenge, you agree to take constructive criticism. If you wish to judge someone else's entry, you should be respectful but honest. 3. Your lot does not have to be Awesomespec, although it is encouraged. 4. You may move internal walls and add external walls but you may NOT move original external walls. 5. Lots may be furnished, unfurnished, or partially furnished. You can even upload both furnished and unfurnished versions. Monthly rules: 1. Leave the palm tree in its spot. 2. The pond must remain intact. It may be expanded, but NOT made smaller.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How bad is the launcher?
|
on: 2009 August 30, 08:27:36

From the original TS3 launcher thread:2. The Launcher is a slob. If you thought the TS2 package installer was horrendous, with strewing crappily-named files all over your directory, the TS3 Launcher is worse. Not only does it not name or organize the files in anything approaching a helpful manner (sort by set? Creator? Download time? What are those?), but it jams all of the files into single large files in the "DCCache" folder, and strews additional, completely useless copies of files inside the "DCBackup" folder, which it never uses or cleans up. They aren't named anything useful, so you'll have no idea what the hell they do. You can delete this crap. If you ever attempt to DELETE any content, the Launcher will not, in fact, actually give you your disk space back, instead leaving you with a 50 MB file containing absolutely nothing. SOMETIMES it might let you have your disk space back....but usually not.
I don't know how much disk space has been swallowed. Check the "DCCache" and "DCBackup" folders.

Gah. The lot doesn't have flat edges. I went through half an hour of trouble to fix the lot edges. On the plus side, Base game starter provided me with some delicious nostalgia. The file is attached.
Crap, turns out I wasn't really successful. Sigh. I'll attach the new one when I finally get it to work. For now, I'll leave this one here.I've finally got it to work! At least I think so. Whew.

Well since unpacking sims3packs makes packages with horrible numbers instead of names, why not call the tool 36ed874ae786bd31af74352tool.exe ?
36ed874ae786bd31af74352tool.exe is such a long name! Too hard to remember! Too hard to type out! Why not 36edwhatevertool.exe for short? WEH WEH YOUR SOOOO MEEEN BAWWWWW!!!!!1ONE! IMO Pack Peeper is as suggestive as Jfadetool. Sims Threekshow is the most fitting, since TS3 sims look like freaks.
