I have tried 2 and 3 and the same is happening to me on two files I have tried to install today. I realize the World files must be installed as Sim3packs but I get the same error as the poster above, even after decrapifying. My game is up to date.
I have searched, I have downloaded before, and I have been able to get sim3packs into my game in the past. But Hidden Springs is not working for me. I believe I can still get the bundle to work if I package it and I do know how to do that. World files though cannot be packaged, at least according to posts here on MATY.

Thank you, that works! It seems my firewall and even Internet Explorer is blocking box.net. They both tell me that that site installs spyware on my computer and I get the big red box warning. I figured how to get the download on IE without allowing the website to open..very odd..but I normally use Firefox and that won't even open the page at all.
Mediafire works with no problem. It was very kind of you to upload the items there!

I really like it! The distance objects might work fine with some hoods but you have to rework the edges to suit the object so it won't work with everything. I tried Egypt with my desert and it looked worse than just using the camera routing. I have to admit, I am not fond of islands either..unless I really want to play an island.

It's a shame that the cash registers pick random sims. Does this mean anyone on the lot could get picked or is a new NPC generated for the job?
It randomly chooses an unemployed Sim in the town..and sadly, that Sim doesn't even get a paycheck!

The problem with the cash registers is that they randomly assign sims. So if I want Mitch Becker to run the little shop I made, I can't assign him to the register. A simple mod to assign folks to a register would be nice. Also, a way to pay sims that are working that register. While it would be nice if the pay check comes from the shop owner, its not necessary I suppose.
I know people have made unemployed careers. Maybe a self-employed career with some income so that our sims that work in shops actually get money. Yes, we can do this individually but that means they starve if we are not playing them or worse, they get a rabbit hole job.
I would like to make a world where the economy is a somewhat closed system. I don't mind so much if some folks, such as the doctors, teachers, etc. work at rabbit holes where the money comes from nowhere. But if Buck Winthrop owns the local arcade and hires Mitch to work there, I would prefer the money to come from Buck rather than from nowhere. But since that might be too much, some sort of 'cash register assigned job with a salary' would be better than nothing. Also, a method for Buck to own his shop without locating it on his residential property would be nice as well.
Gardening and wine making is strategy but more a micro strategy than world strategy. Now, if one could make wine, sell it to Buck's shop and then Buck could resell it to Sims, that would be much better.

It's not the height, LauraW, it's the forward to rear dimension on the photo. The height on that is actually set to 300, because I wasn't sure how much room it needed. If you look at the picture, you'll see that the terrain is repeated. It's also distorted from the original. It's as if my 256 x 256 map is being read as 256 x 128.
Ack! You are right. I didn't notice the repeated pattern..Not sure how I missed it since it is so obvious. Glad you figured it out.

Dragonarts, what is the highest altitude on your height map? If it is over 300, it will be reduced in size. When you open the height map, it will ask you to choose a height in CAW and the highest is 300 so your height map will be scaled to whatever number you choose for the CAW map. I had the same issue when importing but once I starting selecting 300, it was much higher. Now..I haven't tried to import a height map with a low altitude, but if you do CAW might scale it depending on what number you choose for maximum height. I would try the different scales in CAW to see which one looks good.

[ Yes, you can customize your road. I'm experimenting on them right now. You do "Create Custom Road" under "Road Tool". I don't fully understand all those parts, but by switching a few main ones I'm getting some nice results. May show them here soon. I plan to only put down road very sparsely. And the rest just use sidewalks, so I can see my sims walk/run all day. Thanks for the information! I haven't installed it yet because I have a work project to finish and am procrastinating enough without CAW. But when I do, I am going to make a test hood without roads to see what will happen. I have this theory that if we put schools and rabbitholes (using the modded ones so we can have custom rabbitholes) close enough to the residential areas, people will just walk to work/school. I am eager to see if it works. If so, this might be the best gift to themed hoods ever!

[ Now that I exported and installed it, yes, I can play sims in it. I also managed to put down some dirt road. But it does not look very good.
Is it possible to use a different texture for the sidewalk in CAW? If so, maybe a sparse grass would look better than dirt and resemble a banked shoulder. I really wish there was a way to take out the sidewalk for period hoods or country hoods. I rarely see sidewalks out in the country here. I wonder if its possible to make an entire hood without roads but just using walkways? I read the CAW beta manual and it says that you need roads to have cars, bikes and scooters. But if we don't want those, such as in a medieval hood, a sidewalk/walkway with a new texture might work instead. Did you re-texture the road in your world within CAW or did you do that in an outside program? The manual is vague on that. Thanks!

So the local residents in your hood came to the community lot and stood behind the cash register? I haven't installed WA (it arrived while I was away and haven't had a chance yet) so I am curious about how that works. Will the same Sim come to the same cash register or does it vary? I am curious about using this for RKC too.

The bicycle would be better than the cars..but you still can't turn off the carpool. It comes even if you have your own vehicle. I was going to do a steampunky sort of game but I still get those modern looking cars. If could replace them with metal riveted mini vans, it wouldn't be so bad. In Sims 2, at least owning a car stopped the carpool but it doesn't seem to work in Sims 3.

I have the same freeze. Oddly, if I went out of the game and moved something in my hacks folder out of the folder, the game unfroze when I went back in. I could then put it back in. It makes no sense, but it worked every time. I actually wonder if its simply the alt-esc and going in and out of the game that works.

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing.
I wouldn't mind a prison in my game although I think I will forgo the executions. I once had a monastery in my Sims 2 medieval game where I sent the noble women who did not bear sons and bastard children of nobles. It worked quite well and was fun to play.
If only we had Victorian clothing and objects..I could imagine a dark Victorian London with a prison and asylum, poorhouses, smoke stacks, etc. Hopefully someday...So much of this works better in a world that progresses than in Sims 2.
