Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death

I had two kick it so I added a fridge. My sim was on that lot for a fair few sim days on multiple trips and no more deaths occurred. I figured it had worked and remembered reading about other people having success with it? It was useful for the "death on vacation" photos at least.

There are tons of posts stating that students can't go to existing schools. Also, if you edit a lot and try to place a school, even with moveobjects on, it will remain unplacable. I was rebuilding my neighborhood, Abelline, in order to start with a fresh version, and found that if you try to place a community lot from the library that contains a school, the school disappears.
Schools with Ambitions and no Awesomemod test version = functioning Schools with Ambitions and Awesomemod test version = thoroughly borked, excepting career options. Schools without Ambitions and Awesomemod test version = ?
When Pescado was just trying to get AM to work with Base/WA/HELS/patches he said the schools weren't an issue. So without Ambitions & AM schools work fine. Ambitions has changed the way schools work.

Let's get AM working first and then worry about if it works with other mods. So just test it with AM alone for now.
I do believe witch just said this: Logically, in an AM test thread, one would be testing AM. Once that is stable, then adding other variables would be OK. Doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that out.

They removed it with the patch? Why? Did it bork things if you had kids with Grim? I'm clearly out of the loop here.
I can't remember if I said, but if you use an unlucky sim and just keep dragging their hunger down (bearing in mind they can apparently only die of old age) you have plenty of opportunity to interact with one of the Grims. Additionally if you use testingcheats you can just drag up the relationship bar so the next chance you get to interact with him you can get things moving pretty quickly. I initially did it without the cheat, though.

I have an unlucky sim Grim will not take, and I've tried to kill him a LOT (I was using him to get Grim to visit so that the lady of the house could romance him) - he was very useful in this respect. Anyway, the majority of the time I was cheating his health down and still Grim didn't take him. I'll be interested to see what happens when he becomes an elder.

As I said before: they don't really taste like meat and don't have the weird bits, I'm a vegetarian for mostly ethical reasons, it prevents arguments about dinner with my carnivorous boyfriend (he seems happy to put up with the fake meat as a compromise) and why the hell shouldn't veggies eat these products? That's who they're made for! I don't eat them for the protein. I've never once thought "I need more protein, I'd better eat some Quorn". In fact I've never even thought twice about my protein intake. Anyway, I could easily go without the substitutes and live on fruits, veggies and dairy, but why should I when these products exist to add a bit more variety to my diet? I would actually estimate I have some faux meat product 3 days out of the week (usually as part of a healthy home made meal, I don't buy the premade meals), and given 14 lunches and dinners, 3/14 isn't that many. I wouldn't call many of the meat products on the shelves food either. They're all processed in one way or another depending on how you look at it. Things only in meat - do they really only exist in meat? I've never been told I'm deficient in anything and as far as I'm aware there are plenty of other places to get the useful nutrients. I do agree with the part about tofu though, it's disgusting.

I get the overreaction too. I'm a vegetarian because of, like others, fat globules and weird veins and such, and I don't like the way the meat is produced. I appreciate it's somewhat necessary for society, but choose not to partake in that system. I don't think it's wrong to eat meat, I just choose not to.
Anyway, I eat the fake meats on the market (Quorn, Linda McCartney), no weird unidentifiable bits, just some somewhat tasty protein like substance that hasn't hurt anyone. The amount of preaching I get from meat eaters just because I eat these products! "Why do you do that if you don't like meat?" "It boggles my mind that people eat those when they're vegetarian, why not just eat the real thing?"
Drives me up the wall, there's a guy at work who seems to forget conversations he's had and brings it up every couple of months. I guess my explanation isn't good enough, but hey, they don't really taste like meat and don't have the weird bits, I'm a vegetarian for mostly ethical reasons, it prevents arguments about dinner with my carnivorous boyfriend (he seems happy to put up with the fake meat as a compromise) and why the hell shouldn't veggies eat these products? That's who they're made for!
Ironically, it's harder to survive on candy over here in the UK, what with the lack of ethics belonging to Nestle, and the fact that the majority of Mars products aren't suitable for vegetarians. That leaves Cadbury. Also any jelly sweets the majority of the time have gelatin in. The thing I miss the most being vegetarian is marshmallows of all things.

Spawning new grims every time you edit the neighbourhood? This seems like a VBT. BV-esque VBT.
Someone else told me it wasn't Edit Town doing it. There's just two Grims for some reason. I've never seen more than two though. And yeah, the kids are sometimes solid black, my sim had twins, one was normal, the other, not so normal: How do you get him to move in? That option never came up for me. Just try for baby even though they were in a relationship.

Wow...
I'm assuming having babies with Death is no longer a VBT, bar the occasional cockroach hybrid?
Since you can do it without cheats and it appears to be part of gameplay I assume not, though knowing EA anything could happen. I'm going to continue playing the family and see how it goes.
