Oh, duh.. thanks. Even better! Grin

Pardon my ignorance please, but what do you mean by 'enthusiasm'..? ..that aside, AWESOME job, Pescado! I'm sure this'll make a lot of people happy!  Grin
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NPC Clones on: 2008 February 22, 02:16:09
Ummm... 2nd patch..?  Huh
...I could be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the '2nd' patch you speak of was released third-party and is in fact bogus... but then, I could be totally wrong..

...and I was. Just ignore this post altogether.  Grin

...of course, that doesn't necessarily mean said patch didn't in fact break your game - that's what Maxian 'patches' do, right?  Undecided

..thanks for the help, found it. Eh, I suppose that's a fair price tag. Thanks, Pescado! Your efforts certainly are appreciated!

..that's where I had assumed it'd be located. Not there, for me.. though I do have a shiny 'mailbox cover' that I don't recall downloading.. (haven't played this game for a few months..)

...I definitely have the file, in the same folder as all my other MATY files..
6  Awesomeware / Playsets & Toys / Re: Salvaged Stories Crap on: 2008 February 19, 20:00:38
Please don't pull out the sharp-pointies on me, but... I can't seem to locate the Grail!

..perchance, as per your emphasis on there being only one, is it the 'reward' you spoke of for playing the singing stones mini game?

(I apologize in advance for remaining off-topic..)

Oh, my friends think I'm a total dork because I talk about my simmies to them...and they don't play computer games (even the guys) at all, much less the Sims. But that's their loss.

Grin I hear you on that. Oh well. Different strokes for different folks, I always say.  Grin

As for the custom content issue with males/females, I kind of think it's because in life, there's not as much variety in male hairstyles and clothing. Plus, women are prettier.  Tongue

True... but still, why make guys pretty too? I mean, surely the majority of males don't sport 'metro-ish' hairdos and clothes..

Unless you really want it so kids retake the top slot for pants-wetting.

That would be how it should be...

Meh. This is where I wish I actually had the extra time to devote to learning how to do all the technical stuff you guys/gals know... I probably could learn how to modify code, and well, had I the time to learn.... I probably 'waste' enough time as it is just playing the game and reading these forums... if I were religious, I'd say God bless you all, but.. just imagine some appropriately  similar and secular form of acknowledgment.
9  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Energy Decay and BV on: 2007 October 11, 08:57:23
You just showed a table showing that children have bigger bladders than they should... unless you can think of something better, perhaps just swap the teens' and the lil tykes' bladder motive decay rates? I dunno, you're More Awesome Than me - you figure it out.  Tongue    That would be very appreciated (at least by me); I've actually noticed my teens pissing a lil too frequently, though I thought it was my imagination...
10  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Energy Decay and BV on: 2007 October 11, 06:37:00
Ahem.. well, seeing as this is agreeably some more poor programming (even if it's (perhaps..) meant as a joke)...

...any chance of you releasing a hack for this? 'Cuz that'd be pretty Awesome.

Oh, and what kind of stupid guy has to lie and say he got the Sims for his girlfriend? Sounds like someone has adequacy issues.

I'll admit that I told a few of my friends this very thing. But then, those few particular friends of mine aren't exactly open-minded, so.... I mean let's face it - although it's pretty hard to just come out and assume these things without polling people, but I'd be willing to put money down and say that mostly girls play The Sims. My main reasoning (and I'll admit as well that it's kinda flimsy..) being that it's awfully hard to find a comparable selection of male skins and hair to the female ones... just look over at MTS2... You don't even have to actually LOOK at all of them (though I'm pretty sure most of the male hairdos were designed by girls..) - just the number of pages. Pretty steep difference, really..

Alright, I've talked out my ass enough. Bring on your worst!  Grin
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 11, 05:47:40
Ah, my bad... I meant, more or less, the NEED for a third-party patch for THEIR patch..

Silly me.  Smiley

Keep doing your thing, e-Artemis... (Or do you prefer iDiana?)  Wink  You do it well, from what I can tell.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 11, 05:21:24
Nah.. no dissing, here, although I apologize for coming off that way...

Perhaps I should have been more specific - what I find amusing is the irony of the (Third-party) patches being needed to fix the patch by Eaxis needed to fix the game that they STILL can't seem to design properly in the first place.. if you forget you're trapped inside this maddening circus sideshow and step back, the whole thing becomes just that - a circus sideshow, save the madness.

Actually, it had just occurred to me that my post may have been taken offensively after reading Abbriella's post, and the ensuing flame (and so eloquently!)...

http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9559.msg271283.html#msg271283

How ignorant...

..and to clarify, I myself really am not laughing.. (well, perhaps in a sardonic tone..) This obviously is no laughing matter, and I myself am a bit peeved, though I've suffered no ill effects from SecuRom yet...
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV and no CD? on: 2007 October 11, 05:08:05
Wow...  Roll Eyes

Somehow I doubt she'll ever make it to her third post after such a flaming... Tongue
Coffee, anyone?
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV patch is out on: 2007 October 11, 00:14:09
Personally, if it weren't for the critical NON-game-specific issues spewing forth from this mess.... I'd say this is all quite amusing, really.

And extended metaphor is one of my favorite techniques in writing... keep it going!
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hotel rooms and privacy... on: 2007 October 09, 00:19:15
See, here's where I'm unsure what's wrong with my locks... if I use the 'locked for all" option, it works - no one can enter. But it seems "allow household only" won't even allow my own sims..? and what's stranger, is that it still seems to allow the other (NPC) guests??!
The only thing I can think of is Inge's door hack - the one that lets you hand out keys... interestingly, trying to use the keys on vacation only brings up one family, Birth(?)... haven't played with that much yet - I expect though it's the problem... hmmm... perhaps I'm wasting your time...

I'll look into this further....

..and indeed, I am. Sorry, folks, it was as simple as visiting Inge's site and seeing the    Shocked    shiny new BV version available.. silly me  Grin

I'm gonna go be meek now, and cower in the shadows again. Thanks for your help anyways... you guys are great.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hotel rooms and privacy... on: 2007 October 08, 09:36:54
...is it just me, or does it seem just a little odd when you return to your hotel room, only to find a few unexpected (and uninvited!!) guests, using your bathroom and your TV, or just annoyingly waltzing in and standing in the middle of the room, poised to perform one of the aforementioned tasks??

I apologize if this has already been addressed; forgive me, but I couldn't find any other threads on this..

In any case, if it hasn't already been made/started , any chance on a fix for this annoyance? It'd be nice if the hotel guests respected my sim's privacy.. not to mention, they HAVE their own rooms (at least, I assume so - they kinda disappear a la dorms in Uni..) !  Also, dunno if this is related, but the locks on the doors seem to be broken too...

Am I just nuts or having more CC conflicts? I was damn sure I'd weeded 'em all out..
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: family lost through the cracks in the game on: 2007 September 25, 17:56:32
I suffered a similar situation, actually - the whole 'missing family apparently on vacation... for good?!" bit...  what had happened is some nonawesome hack prevented my sims from reaching their vacation home, instead going into buil/buy mode, with Live greyed out, and no sims...

as was suggested, use the tombstone and another family, move your sims out to place them in the 'bin (as well as anyone else that might still be a resident at the house), and the house should go up for sale again, ending the vacation safely. Unfortunately, all the possessions in the house will be lost as a result of this, but at least your sims, as well as any constructive elements, will remain.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims sucked into Vacation vortex on: 2007 September 22, 07:10:12
well, I was able to save them, fortunately, thanks to Tombstone of Life and Death. My situation was a bit different, as I had a vacation home and home in limbo, and like 3 kids and a servo still at the vacation home. I reunited the family with phones and the tombstone, then rebought the lot, after it (thankfully) went up for sale. Bt yeah, like you said - I now must completely refurnish. Eh, better than rebuilding, too....
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims sucked into Vacation vortex on: 2007 September 20, 22:49:18
What about the home lot that insists they are on vacation? will it know that they're not after I invite them over, as suggested, to another lot?
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims sucked into Vacation vortex on: 2007 September 20, 22:33:08
Well, I managed to get everything working finally in BV... however,  in the process of testing, a pair of sims became trapped in limbo between home and their vacation home in Twikkii island...

When I first tried to send them to their new vacation home, it loaded up in build/buy mode, minus Live... I was a bit weirded out, and made the awesome (or rather, unawesome) move of saving before quitting... I debugged and found the problem; all is well... however, whenever I load that lot, it sends me on vacation - and back to a build and buy mode...

I blew it up, didn't I?

can they be saved?

 Cry
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't sleep on Vacation... on: 2007 September 18, 00:13:17
I apologize for my nonawesome post.. I assumed this much, but I have 'net difficulties - a router just went bad, (I have to use my father's comp to post this, and DL if necessary) and I already went and redownloaded the updated hacks beforehand... not to mention, I think almost every single hack I use is a FFS one....... save for radiance lighting, and maybe one or two other little ones... no kitten killers. I DID NOT, however, think to dl the director's cut, partly as I did not know one was already available for BV... I'll have to snag that. Should it solve my problems, you will hear no more from me (until something else comes up, or I have something to share Wink )
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Can't sleep on Vacation... on: 2007 September 17, 14:31:52
..well, perhaps I actually, can - I just can't seem to reserve a hotel room OR buy a vacation lot.... upon arrival, I get the tip on how to reserve a room, but none of the vacant doors actually allow me to click on them - no actions availble... and the same goes for the bellhop and desk. I can visit a hotel, but can't stay at one.... also, the payphone 'try different lodgings' doesn't work. My sim hangs up before even calling, and with debug mode active, I get an error... and finally, no realestate (sp?) option whatsoever...

edit: I'm going to assume bad hacks or something, 'cuz I've no other idea what could be wrong... until I verify that to be the cause, any helpful suggesstions would be... helpful..
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romance Mod + Servos any effect? on: 2007 August 31, 00:57:55
I really don't know what the Romance mod ( I assume it decreases the likelihood of 'normal' sims finding zombies attractive?) does, nor the EXACT mechanics behind attraction, but I DO know there's more involved than just turn-ons and turn-offs. Personality is taken into account as well, and I'm pretty sure there are a few other factors, though I don't know of any specifically. Hope this helped, at least SOMEwhat..
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Perhaps this sim should consider joining Blue Man group... on: 2007 August 24, 06:51:57
