1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stuck in buy/build mode? on: 2009 August 21, 22:35:22
Tried that, to no avail. The same 'processing' continues on returning to the game.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Stuck in buy/build mode? on: 2009 August 21, 22:24:35
So I have an interesting thing happening in one of my saved games. Every time I enter buy or build mode, even if I don't do anything at all, the game freezes when I try to return to live mode. The little circular 'computer is processing' animation happens with the mouse, but it will sit there happily for hours. Toggling between buy and build mode is fine. Toggling back to live mode is not fine. The game will respond only to a forced shut-down from the task manager. It is possible to build and buy things, but not to go back to live mode.

Tested with no mods or custom content in-game. Another saved game still allows me to exit buy/build with no trouble. No family in the first saved game, not even newly-created Sims plopped on a lot, can exit buy/build. If the save's completely borked, so be it, but if anyone knows why then I'd love to find out what the hell just happened.

The only mention of something like this I saw on my crawl through the boards in search of help involved the question mark walls, but there are no walls on my Sim's lot and I was not attempting to place or wallpaper walls when the freeze occurred, and have mostly not attempted to buy or place anything in testing since.

Thank you very much, I was under the impressions Sims 3 was just like the last few Sims 2 EPs...this is a relief.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Bought game + crack = ? on: 2009 June 10, 09:17:28
So it turns out my brother bought Sims 3 for my niece Roll Eyes and is planning to install it. If I provide him with a crack, is he going to be able to avoid the horror of SecuROM, or am I going to have to remove the damn malware from his computer? I are confused about when exactly it's activated. Halp?

I suspect the pregnancy rate in my hood will go up soon. I have risky honeymoon, risky sneak out and risky run away installed with inteen at the moment ...this should be full of surprises.

If I may ask...those sound shiny. Where did you get them?  Grin

They were only in beta and you had to be signed in to find them. They are now part of the flavor pack so just go update your inteen.

Thank you! Looking in completely the wrong place, go me.

While it's obviously not going to be everyone's cup of tea, I think if such a mod is indeed possible (and was created), there'd be a fair few Simmers who'd love it. I know I would...  Grin
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Groom interaction query on: 2007 June 30, 13:29:34
It did work at one point, I'm reasonably sure...I could swear it was an acceptable adult-to-child interaction, as well as adult-to-adult.

Not as bad as some on here, but for sheer rarity value, I quite like this one. Boy kiddie hookers? That's...different.

Full outfit:

He and his sibling (in 'bondage pants') come from here on MTS2.
10  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: The Asylum Challenge? on: 2006 October 24, 12:23:12
Are you allowed to 'invite to join'? Pretty sure you're not allowed to initate anything that makes your sim interact with the patients.

No, I checked:

'On the other hand, you may ask them to join you in activities or use influence (or as I like to call it - mind control) to get them to do things. However, there is a bonus if you never use influence.'

Hurrah! Yummy Channel is go.
11  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: The Asylum Challenge? on: 2006 October 18, 06:05:03
I've tried this challenge twice. The first time, my sane Sim had a career-related LTW. It took twenty-one days for the sane Sim's desired job to come up in the paper. Surprisingly, the mad Sims were doing incredibly well - only a few breakdowns, no deaths, no fires. It was boring and I gave up.

Second time, made a house full of characters from my favourite novel and tweaked the rules a little so that rather than randomizing personalities, they got the ones that suited the character. That was a lot more fun. And also extremely creepy because one Sim, Elphaba, developed an obsession with her novel boyfriend, Fiyero, and began following him around unprompted. Wouldn't eat, wouldn't sleep, wouldn't do anything except follow and stare at the poor man. Which, in the end, was making me laugh so hard I couldn't play, and that one died a horrible death too!

Tip for anyone considering it: The Yummy Channel + 'invite (Sim) to join' is your friend. They'll happily watch for some hours, and there will be skill points and less fires.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bodyshop Hair Weirdness on: 2006 October 12, 10:01:53
Thanks DrBeast and Theo.

Theo, it's almost exactly like that, except removing the downloaded hair does nothing. No hairs appear. I'm thinking it's just this Sim that's messed up - can hair be changed in SimPE, or something? She can be used in CAS without any issues, and the hair will change there, but...it needs to change for the package in Bodyshop.

Changing the age didn't help; she became bald and the hair couldn't be changed. Changing the gender didn't help either.
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Bodyshop Hair Weirdness on: 2006 October 12, 08:58:40
Hi all,

Got a problem with Bodyshop. I have a Sim I've been tweaking to make into the likeness of an character, and it was all going beautifully until just recently. I changed the Sim's hair from one custom hair to another, and the next time I opened Body Shop her hair could not be changed.

What happens is that in the hair area, no hair shows up at all. The colour choice does (black, blond, etc etc), but if I click on any of the choices, it simply lights up as though it were showing the hair. Clicking more than one choice means both buttons light up simultaneously.

Like this, for example.

-All other Sims in Bodyshop responded normally to having any genetics, including hair, changed
-Both custom hairs have worked perfectly prior to this incident
-Deleted the cigen.package, which was huge, in hopes of fixing it. No dice.
-I've tried yanking my downloads folder before loading Bodyshop. Did nothing.

Problem!
Is there any way I can make it change my poor Sim's hair? I would just do it in Bodyshop, but she's meant to be getting packaged up for other people's enjoyment too.

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated as I am becoming convinced this thing is trying to make me toss the computer out the window.

Edited for hot picture action! Cookie if you can guess the character.

haha, weird ghosts. Then the red family aspiration icon means the child wasn't a part of the family?

I'm pretty sure that just means your ghost was a Family Sim.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leaving diploma in Uni on: 2006 August 19, 01:24:26
Reggikko, I thought one of the rules was that uni grads had to take their diploma? At least, if we're thinking of the same challenge...
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romance mod issue - am I the only one? on: 2006 April 07, 00:28:57
Swiftgold, if you don't want to take the mod out altogether, there's a workaround I've found: the hot tub. If you can convince the Sims to develop a crush on each other, they stop rejecting flirts, but obviously you can't get them to develop a crush without flirting. But it seems like the mod ignores the hot tub, for some reason; it's possible to get them to cuddle and kiss, and then the little pink hearts appear, and bam.

My game is often very weird, but that seems to work. Maybe it'll work for you too?  Smiley
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Domo Arrigato, NPC Roboto on: 2006 March 26, 07:27:11
Chee-Z - the robots are sneaky. Make sure you're trying to grab the base rather than the robot itself. Don't use moveobjects on it, or you will have a fubared robot.
18  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Smarter Cashier on: 2006 March 18, 08:10:58
Thank you so much this is a very needed one for sure. I hate it when they get hit in the stomach by the drawer.
Yeah, how often can someone realistically fall for that one, anyway?

From personal experience: Maybe twice, if the shop is busy and two people are trying to simultaneously serve customers, and the cash drawer is situated just below the bench on which the non-using-cash-register-person is trying to wrap a customer's purchase. And there is no warning.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do you operate a cleaning robots? on: 2006 March 02, 22:18:32
Were you able to put it on the ground without using moveobjects? I managed to kill two robots by moving them and their bases separately. It seems that the hand's 'grabbing' is weird with robots and you have to aim at the base rather than the robot itself. But if you did all that already, I'm out of ideas...
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 02, 06:55:45
Inteen is most assuredly NOT compatible. The list of changed code is long and ugly. Insim (at least the dest version) is clean according to the autoscan.

A boy can hope, though... Cry Even though hoping doesn't change anything.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 02, 04:15:27
There's only one CD, MissDoh. My machine's new so I can't help with how it's running on older PCs...
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 02, 03:16:33
Welcome back Motoki!

To my great delight, the kitten killer appears to be present and correct. Woohoo! It doesn't like some of JM's hacks, but since they're on the 'dirty' hack list my next step is gonna be removing all of the 'dirty' ones and seeing whether lots start hanging again. And whether the loss of some of the Awesomeness is going to make me go on a killing spree (Veronaville's my testing grounds, I'll be quite happy if it blows up).

Edit: Spoke too soon. Spoke muuuuuuuch too soon. Lots are not hanging, but Sims are frozen and nothing can be selected. Damn it!
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 01, 23:48:07
It's starting to drive me insane, although I'm not sure if that's just because the Sims are acting stupid now I don't have any hacks making them behave. Step away from the baby, sir! Do not feed the baby! There are customers queueing and they are ANGRY NOW. Agh!
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / So Who Has OFB, Then? on: 2006 March 01, 10:17:51
It arrived in EB Games in Australia this morning. Something in my hacks folder definitely hates it, now it's a matter of working out what exactly that is...

For those of you who have it: whaddaya think? The new clothes and hairstyles amused me, one in particular...the 'opening a business' bit is driving me insane, though. Maybe I'm going about it the wrong way.

No, LFox, just the teleporter painting I've been using to send people back where they came from.
