1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Game Refusing To Load Fully After WA Install on: 2010 January 02, 18:49:24
I don't have any custom files for the game whatsoever (eta: except awesomemod and the framework), since last night was the first time I'd installed the game + EP. However, I will uninstall again, delete all leftover folders manually, and try reinstalling again. I'll edit this once that's done.

ETA: Yeaaaah. No luck. After uninstalling, I deleted the Electronic Arts folder out of Program Files. I reinstalled the base game, tried to patch straight from 1.0 to 1.8 (since patching from 1.6 to 1.8 had been failing), got the same Invalid File message. Haven't tried reinstalling WA yet, but before I uninstalled, that wouldn't patch to 2.3 either.

ETA 2: Checked the fail log, the error is with "code_version.txt" (attached, in case that helps) so my best guess is that I'm using the wrong patch installer? The one I have is from 1.7.9 to 1.8, and my game is at 1.6 (which, btw, patches just fine). So just for chutes and goggles, I'm going to try to find a patch to 1.7 from 1.6 and see if I can patch from there. Will update when finished.

ETA 3: Oh sweet baby Jeebus, it worked! Obtained correct patches from here: http://www.simprograms.com/the-sims-3-patches/patches-the-sims-3/ Made sure to compare the full filename, and updating from 1.6 > 1.7 > 1.8 actually WORKED. So, so very happy. Now I just need to hope WA patches all right once I install it...

ETA Last (hopefully!): WA patched just fine, installing framework and awesomemod now. Hopefully this will help anyone else with the same issue.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Game Refusing To Load Fully After WA Install on: 2010 January 02, 07:44:15
I am having the same problem, only with the new version of Awesomemod. Game loads and runs fine vanilla, but as soon as I put awesomemod in either base game or WA mods>packages folder, it stays forever at the end of the loading bar.

To install the games, I used the instructions in the attached .txt file, and those provided here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17454.0.html

For the framework, I used the one hosted here, and I'm mostly certain I installed it correctly. I would be tickled pink if anyone could whack me with a large stick and tell me what obvious thing I'm doing wrong. I'm more than happy to provide more information if I've omitted something crucial.

ETA: Okay, after a while of poking things with sticks, I have ascertained that I only have the 1.6 patch and perhaps the latest version of awesomemod is compatible only with 1.8, so have been attempting to patch. Now if only I could figure out this "Invalid File" error; or, more accurately, which cracked file I neglected to back up.

ETA 2: Fresh install has the same error. I hate everything.
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 30, 20:36:12
Update on the constant-hugging: It seems that even people who have 63/22 relationship scores will turn down the hug gesture. This is driving me ballsy. I mean, it's hilarious in a sense, but I'm getting seriously tired of seeing red minuses all the time. Any suggestions as to what I can do? Otherwise I'm just going to have to leave everyone on Macrotastics 24/7 (which I try not to do).

ETA: It's definitely not a gesture. It's just Friendly Hugging.
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 30, 15:59:32
I started a new neighborhood and got this.  The weird pancake things are those ugly ponds Maxis put in AL.  Apparently they've completely replaced one or more of the trees.  Any other reports of this?
It's probably because instead of putting that pond into regular decorations, they put it in with the trees so the game must think it is a tree.  Whenever I make a new hood, I spend a lot of time deleting the enormous amounts of trees the game puts in.

I agree, I've been having that same problem, where trees will basically overrun every inch of land available (even the roads, wtf). I would be so pissed if it happened with ponds. But this is a pre-existing issue for me, I've had it since FT.

I was having that on one of the apartment lots, katu. I think it might be the new 'gesture' options (not really new, but there's a new greeting action in a gestures menu).

Well that's retarded.

"Oh I know, let's make them all try to initiate an action (with anyone) that normally requires them to be good friends to accept! It'll be marvelous!"

Ugh. If it makes a difference, the queue does say "Give/Receive Friendly Hug." And they do it constantly. And it queue stomps like nobody's business.

ETA: Does the same thing with no hacks in.
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 August 30, 02:06:27
Well, I've got a bug now. My sims. Won't. Stop. Hugging. Each. Other. I'm playing a greek house, and since everyone INSISTS on hugging EVERYONE ELSE regardless of relationship scores, my parties all suck and my sims all hate each other. I do have some hacks, mostly Awesome, and the rest tested out okay with hackdiff.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Here's the lulz worthy movie:
HERE

Her name is Alicia Wheeler I think she came with this EP because I've never seen her in the hood before. She was a friend my Seth (Warton) brought home.

That's happened to me before, I aged up a child townie to an adult to see what she'd look like. Then she came home on the schoolbus with my sim's kid, and was walking like that. It was most excellent.

Update:  I tried removing all unsupported and/or non-awesome hacks and still cannot see ceilings in live mode.  Roll Eyes
I believe you have to be in cameraman mode to see ceilings. Or, at the very least, have your camera set so that it's below the ceiling line. I haven't tested that second theory, though.

I haven't really run into any of my own bugs, except for one minor issue. I moved a CAS family (3 non related adults) into the apartment building with the DeBeauwhatevers in it. Saved, exited to neighborhood, and then moved a Maxis bin family into the same building. As soon as they moved in, they got a pop-up asking them to click a door to rent that apartment. My CAS family never got that pop-up.

Anyway, I'm going to stay away from apartments themselves for a while until everything's fixed. Many thanks and respect to Pescado and everyone else who goes around cleaning up afteer EAxis.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 15, 22:17:06
Yes, that'll tell you 1 of each hobby leader.  However, EAxis made 3 of each hobby leader.  If you want to identify them all, look at their family in SimPE.

Is it okay to delete the other two? Using Deleted 2, of course. I really don't need any more character files, thankyousoverymuch Maxis.

Oh, and I didn't see a specific answer to this: will marrying in one of the hobby leaders bork my game? I ask not because I want their beautiful faces in my legacies or anything (though they're an Uglacy's wet dream), but because I plan on Sim Surgerying them, and I won't bother making it genetic if it doesn't even matter, since they can't be moved in anyway. Thanks again!

The Arts & Crafts club woman (she's named Cassidy something in my game, she has red hair, grey eyes and the Lucy Hanbi face template) has the emo-OFB hair. Her portrait hair and clothes were different than the ones she came wearing (this has happened to other 3 women I've moved in, of all of them only one's portrait is the clothes/hair she actually has). I've checked and I can't select that hair through the mirror, why is it even there?

All my Free Time NPCs have different icons than what they're wearing and so on. I have every expansion and stuff pack except for Teen Style Stuff.

I've also noticed that my sims with no aspiration benefits have slower-dropping needs and so on. I haven't gotten to test whether or not similar vacation benefits are borked now - has anyone had any experience with that yet?

And I have a question: Is it official, now, that marrying/moving in a Hobby Leader/Hobbyist/Whatever The Hell They're Called is a VBT? And how can you tell which ones are the official Hobby Leaders/etc etc, as opposed to just Free Time NPCs/townies, etc? Thanks in advance.

A naval piercing is a belly button piercing. My sister had it done but it got infected.

Wouldn't that be a navel piercing? Or is it a special version that can only be obtained when part of the actual Navy? Tongue I've had one myself, also removed it due to infection. And the fact that, hell, I'm fat. No one wants to see my bellybutton, so why have it pierced?

Edit: Dangit, Kyna beat me to it. Tongue
11  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! February: SKINS on: 2008 March 08, 04:05:15
Ack that is just too freaking bizarre.  I can understand ear piercings, naval piercing, nose (even though I think its unattractive, but the rest is just weird.  Whatever.  Just ignore me, I'm just an old trout.

Naval piercing?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 March 04, 17:17:22
It's taken me days of casual reading, but I finally got through the whole thread. I'm playing with the Awesome FT hacks, some updated TwoJeffs, and some hacks that I don't remember where they're from, but made it clean through the hackdiff.

All the problems I'm having are basically the same as everyone else - massive motive drops, especially energy (all in sims that have the slow motive decay perks), slow badge earning, annoying hobby spam, etc. Another odd thing I've noticed is that the Education Career Bookcase books no longer have gold covers. It still functions, sims can study all skills (and Parenting, etc), I haven't noticed whether they do it at the accelerated speed, though. But I kind of miss my shiny book covers.

I haven't yet had a case of bees from bug hunting, but every single hiking trip ends in either bees or skunks.

Another interesting quirk I found is that I've had three of my children in different hobbies get invites to the secret lots, but no membership cards or magazines. And all my adults get the "do u want magazine?" pop-ups, and one of them got a membership card (at 4 enthusiasm), but significantly less secret lot invites. The only one to receive a membership card, is my elder Arts and Crafts female, who has almost maxed enthusiasm, and she's never been invited to the secret lot. It kind of baffles me; what determines what pop-ups you get?

That's all I can recall at the moment. If I recall other problems, I'll be back

Hi, I was looking for a way to automatically assign my home business employees to do a set task when they come in. I was referred here, but I don't really need all that other crazy hoohah...what would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
The "crazy hoohah" is necessary to make your sim actually carry out the task effectively. Otherwise the tasks cannot be performed effectively because sims are really stupid.

I have other mods that do little simple things that I want, such as refresh my employee's motives so that there's no need to take a break, and a sign that automatically calls in and sends home employees when I want them to, and so on. The only thing I want is to auto assign an employee a task when they arrive on the lot. I need to download all of this:

businessrunsyou.zip
autosoc.zip
autoyak.zip
bathroomusesyou.zip
macrotastics.zip
skillinator.zip

Just to do that? I'm aware that sims are stupid...but is that all really necessary?
