This
2 - Awesome adds an "Eat" action to honey jars and Sims will then autonomously eat instead of drink them

[/quote]

nah - that isn't awesome.  up until end of this week I've been playing completely awesomless and sims drink honey whenever they get in the slightest bit hungry.  It doesn't occur to them to eat anything else if they have honey in their inventory either.  Gives them a happy moodlet, but perversely does almost nothing to fill their hunger bar.  And since it doesn't actually sate them, they keep eating jar after jar after jar if you don't catch them....Seems just another annoyance EAxis just had to put in.

On the real problem front:  I do have the psychic helicopter police too. Drives me insane - they catch my teen 100% of the time when she's out after midnight.  Just saw something new too - they now have police in the vacation worlds too (certainly don't remember ever having seen that before) - still not to pick you up at midnight, but when you egg someone else's house they sure are there in a jiffy.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Tombs do not reset on: 2009 December 01, 11:22:42
This could also be old news, but for me the easiest way to fix this was to delete the egypt/china (whatever) files from your saved game folders in My Documents/EA...-> (Maybe someone can put the full path here, Im not at at my PC. Meh.). I think there are 2 of them (the files)?

They regenerate as soon as you revisit said location, complete with the flyover etc.
Handy for having a sim visit virgin territory.

Im not sure how this affects active quests though. I havent tried that yet.

But dont blame me if this breaks your game, its only a suggestion.

Yea well, but unfortunately that means I also loose my nice new vacation home.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Tombs do not reset on: 2009 November 30, 21:15:45
Oh soooo weird.  I tried, purely on a lark, to save the celtic tomb from a neighborhood from which I had not gone on vacation.  In theory that should give me a virgin tomb, right?  Bulldozed one in a neighborhood where I had already solved the Celtic Tomb and plopped my supposedly virgin copy on the empty lot.  Went on vacation again, cheated myself the Celtic Tomb quest, worked fine, the lady called me, I reported in, she sent me to the tomb I go there and ..... WTF?  the tomb is completely solved!  Replacing it didn't do anything whatsoever???
4  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod is not yet compatible with the expansion Pack on: 2009 November 22, 11:01:13
oops, I just had a nasty thought - the FPS limite always ran with the 3booter and hence Awesome Mod.  Have Eaxis fixed the "over-fpsing" or am I happily destroying my graphics card in playing the game?
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 was to include weather. on: 2009 October 04, 09:37:44
" theres a petition on the offical "Sims 3" forum, to get rid of the store."

If I'm right, we won't need that fairly soon.  As soon as the modders come out with their own meshes in force, no one is going to even look at the EA store for furniture or clothing.  I would imagine they also KNOW there's an expiration date on the store, they can't be that stupid.  Oh well, in a year or so we'll know.  If one piece of furniture still costs the equivalent of a Dollar (or Euro over here) then we'll know they live in another reality.

The store will go away if no one buys there.  It's that simple.  So if you hate it don't buy. The only thing I've downloaded from the store are free items.  I haven't even spent the original 1000 points that you get to lure you there.  I have gotten a few items here, and a nice windfall that was, but if I hadn't, I simply would do without, period.

6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I just re-installed Sims 3, and I can not open the cheat console now! on: 2009 October 04, 08:56:33
Doesn't matter how often I type it into the console, doesn't matter whether I enable it in the awesome mod or not.  Most of the cheats just have stopped showing up after I changed to Vista.  Previously I could shift-click on a sim and get a whole wheel menu full of cheats now I get aging up and one more and that's it.  It's obviously on, I can for instance pull over the wants bars to make them more or less awake, hungry, whatever.  But all the other cheats like start opportunity etc. are gone.  Cheats on some items (like plants) are likewise gone.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I just re-installed Sims 3, and I can not open the cheat console now! on: 2009 September 11, 21:24:14
yes "testingcheatsenabled true"  sorry, simply too lazy to type out the whole thing, it IS a mouthful.
and neither the "I type the whole thing out" nor the "I enable in Awesome Mod" method gives me more than, well, one or two of the cheats (in fact I pretty much only have the age up and I believe one other cheat per person).

With XP I had a whole lot,  I could change pretty much anything you could possibly dream of wanting to do.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I just re-installed Sims 3, and I can not open the cheat console now! on: 2009 September 11, 08:09:10
AHA!  I thought it was weird - I just got a new computer and changing from XP to Vista something similar happened to me.  I can still type the ...cheatsenabled..  some cheats come up.  But only very few - most of them are gone. same with the Awesome Mod - only a small part of the previously available cheats come up.  if it is really just some keys that are wrong, does someone here know how to "turn it on" again?  do I have to replace one or more of the letters to get it to work?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children witches/warlocks on: 2008 October 24, 16:44:32
Never saw that show.  Looked it up on Wikipedia and they didn't mention anything about penguins either.  But hey, I guess I could always improve on it, couldn't I?
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Witches lost hats, changed hair colour on: 2008 October 23, 16:29:06
I have all other patches - none for AL. It's the NPC witches in the new hood that this has happened to. I haven't even seen them with hats.
I have the AL dc - so I got creaturefixes with that. My good witch doesn't have a hat either - and even though I am using no-layer fix for the good witch, that I know works, she's having these glittery splotches all over her face - and only her face. It looks disturbing to say the least. I'm not sure what could have happened between when it worked and now. Could this be cc related? Or is it just a coincidence that I've got more than one problem at once with the witches? I have no idea at this point.

ok, you changed the SKIN of the witches.  Did you take off the AURA also?  I used to have two tone witches after I got a fix to change the witch skins to normal until I took off the aura also.  After that they finally had normal skins.

on the hat issue:  I noticed all my witches with custom hair go bald every time they have a birthday.  most annoying.  and of course if they change the level off goodness/evilness they also go bald....  grrrrrr
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children witches/warlocks on: 2008 October 23, 15:21:06
Oh turning a sim into a penguin would be so funny.  It would be good if they got better too, it could be like a threat or just for fun.

It would be amusing, but only if all romantic interactions were disabled.  No penguin woohoo, please.   Tongue

NONONO!!!  I want penguin woohoo!!!!!
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children witches/warlocks on: 2008 October 20, 17:16:40
Oh yea, and someone please make spells be able to interrupt NPC's actions.  I had a burglar burgle my evil witch's house and all the supposedly oh so evil witch could do is do the usual panic dance and every time I told  him go do something useful like a mellifera attackum he'd say "oh suchandsuch looks so busy now, I'll better not interrupt him".  Eh no, you're SUPPOSED to interrupt him you dolt, he's stealing your stuff!
Shocked  They actually say that?!  That totally sucks.  Why the hell did EAxis ever put in such a stupid line of code?  If a werewolf can physically attack the burgalar, a witch better darn be abble to attack the burgalar with magic.  I mean, why the hell not??

Jup sure did!  it pissed me off so much, I then called the burglar with the sim calling spell (I think that is actually neutral, so my high level evil witch could do that) and then killed him with some downloaded item (echo's magic wand).  It also meant that I had to train my witch in a totally new magic school - echo's magic wand and EAXI's magic don't work off the same hidden skill....

For now I think all my evil witches will have to attend the Echo school of magic also
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children witches/warlocks on: 2008 October 20, 17:12:44
oooohhh  and more for the evil witch and warlock:

Cellegius Gradus Primus Spell:

College is knowledge
but the knowledge best
put to the test
is what I from you wrest

geared to college sims.  bewitch a passing sim, and that sim will use whatever means are there to upgrade college grades (bookcase research, computer write term paper, or if nothing else is there do assignments.  the learning points from this are of course credited to the evil witch casting the spell. the victim will not cease to work until the evil witch's grade meter is completely full.  Or the victim keels over or wets his or her pants.  WILL DEFINITELY work on profs too, especially the annoying ones that always come by and ring your doorbell.

spell is obviously evil.

Locatus Sanitatus

Look at this mess!
but ere I digress
I must stress
I curse thee to unmess  (ok, so poetry is no more MY strong point than EAXI's)

spell causes the bewitched sim to clean up and repair until - well everything is cleaned up and repaired.  As it is forcing someone else to do one's bidding it is obviously an evil spell.

Accompletus Homeworkius

with homework I grow bored
with this spell I am your lord
the depths of my education you will ford

Used by teenage witches to get the annoying "friends" they bring home to do their homework for them.  should probably be evil.
Then again, those friends are annoying. They're never really friends with you to begin with and they just take up the time you need to regenerate from school and do your homework so they might as well do it for you.

and now something I've been missing terribly for the good witches.  In fact it seemed logical that they would have that spell, but the one they do have is so infinitely more useless....

and here for the incorrigibly good witch...

Resurrectio

you corossed death's door
were amongst us no more
I bring this lost sim
back from Old Grim!

will do a perfect resurrection of a dead sim, the same as if you had paid the grim reaper the full 10.000 simoleons.  this is obviously a good spell

If I have to set the ingredients I'd say:

Cellegius Gradus Primus Spell:
2 or three viper essence, 1 or two eye of newt.  as this'll do ya for the entire 72 hours of the semester (at least unless your victim croaks prematurely), it can cost a bit more

Locatus Sanitatus
1 eye of newt, 1 viper essence, one dragon scale (I don't want my evil witch to put him or herself out too much, do I now?)

Accompletus Homeworkius
as homework is a daily occurrence it should be fairly cheap. so no more than:
at most 1 eye of newt, 1 dragon scale, preferably even only 1 eye of newt.

Resurrectio
ok, this one should be expensive
so I'd say at least 3 each of Essence of light and moombeam, plus a couple of dragon scales and/or mystic dust

14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Children witches/warlocks on: 2008 October 20, 15:38:02
I can't for the life of me figure out why the evil witch doesn't get spells that actually do something FOR her. So here's my five cents:

the Longus Fingerus Spell

Take what is thine
make it all mine

and then transfer funds (can be all or a set amount) from the cursed sim to the evil witch

15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 09, 08:49:20

Does the resurrection always result in a zombie? If so, it might be an 'evil' spell, thus unavailable to good witches. Also, if there is a good version of the spell (there should be, but this is EAxis...), check that the good witch has a high enough magic skill, and high enough alignment. ('Check abilities' on the spell book, skill and alignment are shown above the abilities list.)

The resurrection of the EVIL witch does always result in a Zombie.  It's supposed to as per EAXIS spec.
There is supposed to be a matching spell for the GOOD witch which is supposed to result in a perfectly normal Sim being resurrected.
It says in the spell book that the witch has it (I've trained them up and beyond actually - they get it at level 8 or 9 and I've trained them all the way to level 10).  supposed to take two each of three ingredients, I believe it was magic dust, moonbeams, dragon scales.  Made sure they had two or three of each and every available ingredient (in fact one of the good witches I tried it with has 10 -20 of each - they have a magic store and they manufacture a load of the stuff...) No matter whether I try it in my regular installation or the second one (yes I have two sims folders with all the neighborhoods, etc. that I rename for test purposes right now so I can test with and totally without hacks).  Neither one has the spell for the good witch.  doesn't show up with or without downloads in.

There isn't a resurrection spell for the good witch. If you are on the lot when the sim dies, a good witch can "Banish Death." If you get there after they are dead however, there is nothing you can do. It sounds like it works just like pleading, except that you always win and doesn't depend on relationship, just magical skill.

AH!  Ok, I was thinking logically if the spell of the evil witch makes a zombie the good witch gets the resurrection.  The spell descriptions all are more cute than explanatory, so I didn't figure that banish death meant literal banishment. That's right next to worthless then...  I mean how often is a good witch actually present when a sim dies, unless each and every one IS a good witch.    My, I shouldn't think logically where EAXIS is involved...
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 08, 16:18:12
I believe that only evil witches can do the zombie spell.  It wouldn't be available for good witches.

I've had the school bus come on EA built apartment lots.

EHEM.... that's precisely it- I didn't WANT a Zombie.  Otherwise I could have just had the evil witch take care of it since HIS spell certainly worketh fine

Too late, too tired, so I stopped reading after 15 pages...
Has anyone tried to use the resurrection spells for the witches yet?
My evil warlock can make a zombie -the spell comes up when he points to the gravestone, executes fine and he gets a zombie.
NONE of my good witches can perform the resurrection spell.  they can mourn and move the grave and that's it.  I specifically tested in a test environment with no CC

also:  school bus only comes in apartment lots I've built myself.  Eaxian pre-made apartments means no school bus ever...
(this is actually not the first time that I've noticed that some things don't work in the premade houses, neighborhoods etc. - for instance for a long time I was wondering  how you rake leaves, the few that fell never stayed on the ground... until I went from the eaxian pre-made hood to one of my own custom hoods - then suddenly the leaf piles showed.  I can't think of more, but I know I've had other experiences like this.)
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Apartment Life: Obligatory Hate/Love Topic on: 2008 September 02, 14:42:41
Love the fact that we finally have magic.  Am underwhelmed with the amount and execution though.  In the WTF category:  My good witch and evil warlock are camping on their vacation lot (they didn't have much money, so the building itself is basically enough to hold the bathroom and a small kitchenette, and they were sleeping outside in a tent).
A burglar cometh.....  So of course immediately they wake up and run out of the tent (nono idiots, stay in there, then at least the tent will be occupied and he can't take it...)  Anyhow, I figure I have an evil warlock, let's have him actually get some use out of his evil spells - but nooooooooo. the warlock tells me such and such is currently busy, better not disturb him with a spell.  What's the point of HAVING the evil spells if you can't use them because - oh the burglar is too busy STEALING MY STUFF!!!  Wouldn't that be exactly the moment when you'd WANT to use the bee chasing spell or the attack spirit?Huh??

So - hint, hint:  can any of you awesome people come up with a hack that lets me use spells if the sim I wan't to use them on is "too busy"Huh?   I can't for the life of me think of what the logic behind not letting you use spells when you see a sim doing something your evil warlock won't like.

So now my evil warlock will have to train with Echo's magic wand - I bet that won't have any problems interrupting the burglar's queue - and now the next burglar will simply have to DIE instead of being chased by bees.  Are ya happy now EAXIS!?!?!?! Angry

Also: my god, hope someone writes some additional useful spells.  I mean - oh cool, I can set my own house on fire!  so what?  Oh and I can spend lots of time and effort to make spell ingredients so I can cause a bug infestation.  Yay!  The evil spells don't actually do anything for the evil witch.  I can see the good witch not getting too much personal gain (oh god, been watching too many charmed's here) -  but the bad witch should definitely have spells that let them gain preferably while causing loss to some one else....

Other than that like the fact we finally have apartments, but think it's waaaay too late in the series.  that should have come right in the beginning when it was still more difficult to make money, more difficult to meet enough friends, and we didn't have small and cheap enough lots yet. Instead it comes in the end when most of our Sims are already part of a long line of sims and have the accumulated wealth of generations...

Thank you all! Going to try that tonight!  kisses and hugs all around.  At least if it works  Grin

On the location of the post - I just guessed where it would go.  Told ya I'm not very experienced in all things mod, hack and build like....

21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / how do I update radios to free time on: 2008 March 25, 06:17:44
Somewhere on this site I found instructions on replacing the pie menu string and the pie menu function for CC refrigerators to update them for Seasons.  For fridges this method still works fine with Free Time.  Also works with TV's and Computers.
I'm running into a problem with radios and bookshelves though.
The new radios have a pie menu string but no pie menu function anymore.  The old CC radios do have both.  I've been playing around with it for a while and all I've succeeded in doing is updating the radio so I can only turn it on - no change channels, no turn off ... nothing.
The new bookshelves seem to have both pie function and string, but replacing them on a CC bookshelf doesn't seem to update the bookshelf - still the same actions it used to have.
Can anyone point me in the right directions of what files I need to replace to update these items?  I hate Maxis stuff, it's soooooo booooring!
oh yea, and talk slooowwwly... I may not be blonde, but I'm no SIMPE wizard....

Second post, blind noob.

Oh yes, VERY small print - gets out extra stron glasses - found it!
And it worked beautifully!  thank you guys, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can I alter my custom fridges? on: 2007 June 02, 06:12:43
Are you familiar with SimPE? If so, just add the attached package's content to the custom fridge, overriding the existing pie menus.

Should work for all custom fridges, as long as they do not have modified pie menus.

Okay, I'm the stupid one who's gonna speak up.  How do I add this package?  I'm familiar with simpe but not overly so.  I'm not afraid to mess with it so please hit me with the instructions.  Thanks.
Here's how to do what I did. I think it worked.

1) Open the package that was attached earlier in this thread. You'll see two resources.

2) Right click on each of those resources and choose "extract..." to put them on your desktop.

3) Open a pre-Seasons custom fridge package and find the corresponding resources in that package.

4) Right click on each of them and choose "replace..." selecting the corresponding resource from your desktop.

5) Save the new custom fridge. et Voila!*

* In this case, that means "and Pray."

ehem..... am I blind?  Where IS the package`?
