Thank you very much for that offer. I'll let you know as soon as it's uploaded.  Smiley

You may be on to something, Ellatrue. I think it happened when that EADM patch came out.

All my other games are working fine as well, Tangie. I might try one or two things before totally giving up, but it's probably time for Pescado's nuclear option.

After raising those cute boys up, roping in one bride, (she had commitment issues) importing another and getting them both pregnant.....

Oh, the humanity!!

Thanks, everyone.

 Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

Falconpunch failed. But thanks, imyourboy for the suggestion and to Rhumba for the good info.

I had AM on board when I started playing Sims 3. Game was so buggy and frustrating I quit for a while and took it back up when WA came out. I think I'm about at that want-to-quit point again, but it's great to reinstall AM and see how it's evolved.

Seriously? You can do that? How?

Edit: Never mind, just found it under AwesomeMod.  Grin

I was wondering if the pregnancy had something to do with it. Wasn't sure sims were allowed to get pregnant on vacation in 3 as they were in 2.

Seems like I just get a lot of time invested in a family and something always makes an unsalvageable mess of it and then it has to be flushed.  Sad This isn't the first time. I hate this game. Angry I should quit. Sorry about moaning.

Oops!

Yep, there is a .dbc file in the DCCache folder. I thought that you meant only in the game files under Program Files, namely Mods.

Thanks for responding, Simsample. I pulled out my saves, uninstalled Riverview, reinstalled Riverview and put my saves back in, but no luck. Still getting the transfer hang up.  Cry Makes me inclined to think that Riverview isn't the problem. I have no .dbc files anywhere, so I didn't go with your further recommendations.

Hoping I won't have to resort to Pescado's option....

The younger McDermott boy from the infamous Riverview has grown up and is at his french vacation home with his french wife who now has a bun in the oven. They still live on the Riverview farm with mom and the older brother whose home-grown wife also is pregnant.

The stroke of midnight comes and it's time to go home but on the transit screen the green bar loads to only about 1/10th and then won't progress any farther. Ever. It seems like I've read that this indicates a corrupted lot or neighborhood.

So is this a hopeless scenario and will I have to just flush the McDermotts?

I'm unable to complete the quest in Egypt where you go to the Pyramid of the Burning Sands and bring back flame fruits. I go down to where they're supposed to be located and -- no flame fruit plants. Not a single one.

Anybody had this problem? I've eliminated all my mods except the new WA censor get-ridder-of-er. Still having random CTDs as well.

Not at all sure why I keep playing.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: More Neighborhood Borkedness on: 2009 August 14, 03:52:53
Hi again, GS! Grin

I've installed and reinstalled Sims 2 and all it's EPs and SPs that I have quite a number of times by now what with updating to new machines and adding a laptop and whatnot. I got it down to a routine of installing and then running through all the patches before playing, so the patches were all current before the neighborhoods started being borked. Just for good measure though, I did run the patches again and swapped out a borked neighborhood to see if it worked. It didn't.  Cry So I'm assuming it isn't a patch issue.

But as I said, the disks have been used to install the game quite a few times. Can only guess at the number on it but something like 4 or 5 times on my own machines and then once up to Pets or Seasons on my daughter's machine.  Undecided Maybe twice, I dunno... Anyway I'm wondering if that's the problem. Doesn't SecuRom limit the number of times you can run the installation process?

Have been studying the getting-rid-of-Securom thread trying to get up the courage to try it, (damn my technotardness!  Angry) but unsure how the process will work on Windows 7. One of these days I'll get more sure of myself and give it a whirl. Thanks so much for responding.

This may be similar to some other neighborhood problems that have shown up here, but it's beyond me. I wrestled with it for two or three days.

Several months ago I had a hard drive fail on a new computer (fie upon thee, HP!!!  Angry) and had to replace it. So I backed everything up on a backup drive. We couldn't reinstall Vista on the new drive without having to spend the money for the software, so my beloved computer geek son installed Windows 7 beta on it.

So I reinstall everything onto the new hard drive from the backup drive, reinstall my Sims 2 software, and settle down to play. I start up my game and....WTF! No neighborhoods!  Shocked In addition, the game has created an extra EA Games file with nothing but an empty Sims 2 folder in it. Well, I spent a lot of time trying to solve this, swapping files back and forth, sometimes there were no neighborhoods, sometimes there were NEW neighborhoods, sometimes I swapped the whole thing into the empty file, (which to this day is re-created every time I start up the game  Huh) tried it every which way, but to no avail. For some reason, the reinstalled Sims 2 game refused to read my neighborhoods as they were on the old hard drive.

Finally I found that the last backups of my neighborhoods would work, which is a good compromise compared to not being able to play them at all, but if I could have the borked neighborhoods back, it would be great.  Grin

Anybody else ever seen this sort of thing?  Could it be a SecuRom problem?

Thank you so much! That solved the problem.  Grin (((GS)))
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Phones!!! on: 2009 August 06, 03:26:13
Thanks, GS. I've run all the patches. I've never seen Screen Calls come up. Is that an option when you click on the phone? What I do have among all the usual stuff is the "Set Ringer" option with 5, 10, 15 and 20 as choices. My dim and foggy memory associates that, perhaps wrongly, with Pescado's (truly) superb phonehack, but in carefully going through all my CC files, I don't find it anymore.

This afternoon I played in debug mode and got a "Hit Break Point Primitive" message for the phone. Also a lot of (empty) missing anim entries are showing up in the Logs folder.

If that's any help...I'm sorry for being such a technotard.  Sad
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Stupid Phones!!! on: 2009 August 05, 18:09:05
Havin' trouble with my phones.... Cry They'e borked.

On residential lots, they'll do everything except "Call Sim". When I click on that, the sim dials a number and then performs the infamous jump maneuver. They can call services, book vacations or anything else, and even incoming calls are received with no problem, but no calls out to other sims.

EDIT: When I call to invite the Headmaster, I get the "crank call" screen and the groups option gets the same Fail as call sim.

Another odd thing is that on community lots downtown I click on the phone and all I get is "Walk to Lot...".

I've tried pulling out all my hacks and hacked objects, but the problem is still there. I have all the Sims 2 Expansion and Stuff packs (but no life  Grin) except Holiday Stuff and have run the patches.

Solutions? Suggestions? Gripes? Jokes?  Huh

Would it be possible to hack funerary urns so that they can be placed on shelves, or has that already been done? Undecided

Use netmicro's Decoration Transformer to put non-decoration objects on decorative slots.

Decoration Transformer doesn't work for urns.Cry

16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / career clothing hack on: 2005 November 03, 17:14:42
I used to have a hack that allowed sims brought home from work to wear the clothing appropriate to their career level. Don't remember whose it was, don't remember the name of it. I feel so lame about that. Anyway, I think it got lost in the Nightlife hack shuffle and if anyone can remind me of the name and creator, tell me if it works/is updated and available, and point me to it, I would be most thankful!
