games4theworld distributes the Fairlight releases as perfectly acceptable ISOs, too, so I dunno what all that 'let's avoid the ISO' voodoo is about.
The torrents aren't evil just because they have games4theworld labels on them. Just avoid all their stupid 'fixes' and do the thing correctly.

Normally I'm pretty generous about helping noobs learn to arr, but... wow. This is pretty epic.
Let me see if I understand correctly, as your post is all over the place. You uninstalled everything due to unrelated errors, and now you have installed the base game. The launcher is telling you that your copy is not legit, and WA will not install. Is that correct?
If so, install Ambitions. Should go fine, and then WA will install afterwards.
Most of the pirated basegame copies floating around are copies of the pre-release, so if your reported version is 0.XX (instead of 1.XX that would be the official release), the launcher nags you and WA gets shirty. For some reason Ambitions installs fine, and after that your base game has an acceptable version number so WA installs without errors.

Oh, look. Passive-aggressively thanking someone OTHER than me for telling you the same thing I did. At least I don't pretend to be taking the high road when I'm rude.
Do you really think my username would be dragoness if I'd be offended by being compared to one?

Under normal circumstances this means that either a) you are using a cracked exe instead of a no-CD mod like an idiot and forgot to put back the original, or b) you are trying to install the patch for a version other than the one installed and it's throwing a fit at the incorrect version code.
Normally I would suggest figuring out what version of the patch you have, changing the version code in skuversion.txt to match it, and then changing back.
This incremental patch has apparently been a bitch to others, though, causing errors on install, so it's hard to say if your 'Invalid File Found' is the usual or some new beast. I'll be nice and say that you don't seem particularly tech-savvy so I suggest you wait until other users report the patch as functional before bothering to try again, that way you don't have to wrestle with it if the error isn't actually your fault.

If they have long, funky names, you got them from the download of a lot (or possibly a sim, I think sim-related CC can get dumped there too). Personally, if I didn't download it on purpose I don't have any interest in it, and on the rare occasion I find those I just delete them.
You could make a backup of your save, yank the mystery files, and go see if anything important turns up missing. Odds are you won't be able to find anything different, and if it does explode that's what the backup is for.

Uh.
I thought that was just standard behavior for that motive. It's always been that way in my game. It defaults to somewhere around 'meh', but you can push it up into the fun levels with moodlets and/or drag it down with stressful things.
Does it normally decay into stress without actually doing a boring/stressful action?

I'm feeling nice today.
If the mod isn't loading at all, it is framework fail. Google the framework installation instructions on modthesims.info and follow them to the letter and it WILL work. If it doesn't, you've done something wrong and we have no way of knowing what.

Well, see, the thing is, none of us really give a fuck if you get your question answered or not. When no fucks are given, laziness on our part is reasonably expected and does us no harm.
On the other hand, you presumably care at least a little if your question gets an answer, and if you do, laziness on your part is not reasonable, as it would lead to you being bothered, at least a little, by the lack of an answer.
How about we all continue to be lazy on the subject of your answer, and we'll see whether it's you or us who has fucks to give?

I'd like to request a way to turn on and off the being able to cook all meals any time of day feature, if possible, please.
Not gonna happen. The FOJ points out that if you don't want them cooking spaghetti for breakfast there is nothing forcing you to choose that option.

the game's image file (thats the bootable EXE file)
Yeaaaaah I'm gonna stop you right there. For the record, there is a big difference between "we don't like you because you're different" and "we don't like you because you apparently have a festering pile of shit for brains and are too stubborn to acknowledge it, and instead choose to lecture us on why your stupid behavior is great". Guess which one is going on here.

Okay. People have tried to explain this to you several times in many different threads, but I'm tired of feeling like this is the O HAY HELP TIFFANAY forum so I will do what I can to explain it to you using very small words so that hopefully you will understand.
You broke your game and made it sad.
Nobody here knows (or cares) what CC you have, so it is YOUR job to do basic troubleshooting. "Basic troubleshooting" means when you make your game sad you try to find out why instead of asking the internets.
Your problem is probably CC. The way to find out is not deleting CC at random because you think it might be the problem.
Take out ALL your CC. If you want to be extra sure, take out all your CC, uninstall the game, reinstall the whole thing from scratch, and then run the game without any CC at all. This means NONE. ZERO CC. Actually, I will be generous and allow you to have awesomemod so you don't have to cry when your game wants to see the disk. NO OTHERS. NONE.
Does your game work? Congratulations, you have now established that one or more of your CC packages are corrupt.
Until you have followed these incredibly simple instructions DO NOT COME BACK. Do not post. Nobody cares. Nobody is going to hold your hand and pat you and tell you everything will be okay, then fix your game, make you a sandwich and then change your diaper.

I imagine I will be sporked for being weird, but I tend to enjoy the 'grind' and making sims work for what they get. I do not want my sims able to afford the best of everything before the end of the first generation. Buying the big mansion or penthouse apartment should be the culmination of the work of generations! To that end, are there any mods that increase the cost of all goods and services? Barring that, are there more specific mods that would increase the cost of catalog items and property or rent? I've found a mod to increase the frequency and percentage of the weekly bills, but it doesn't seem to be enough really, and if I'm being picky I would rather have the bill percentage at something like 20% (down from the 50% it's at now in my game) but have everything cost more. Spread the cost of living around, so to speak, rather than having such a large bill showing up.
If not, is there someone who can point me where to begin to create my own? I've modified others' XML mods before, but never made my own, and while I've poked around in the Gameplay Data looking for something promising, I've not yet found a way to apply a change to every expense (or every item in the catalog). Would such a mod require a more 'global' solution than a mere XML mod can provide?

I had a powerful Alienware "gaming computer" that melted, despite a water-based cooling platform and an extra fan. And by "melted", I mean playing the Sims 2 overheated it to the point that the video card slagged and its melted plastic ruined the motherboard.

Delphy's installer is out of date, I think. Install the framework manually.
The launcher lies about whether or not you are up to date... ALL of your exe's need to be patched to the latest but the launcher only checks the most recent exe. Use the patch updater from modtheims.info.
Check for tight pants.

As far as the framerate overlay goes, I've found that I get it every single time and it annoys me, as I can't see what the leftmost item is in a sim's queue, but I've found that if I fire up the 3booter, then tab to something else (firefox, just because I always have it open), the overlay is consistently attached to firefox instead and I can sim in peace. Just in case you start getting it consistently like I do and would like a workaround.
