this is nifty. (Yeah, I'm late on the wagon, shush) I assume it's perfectly feasible to use your reversed townies to replace the default pleasantview townies, yes? If this is true...how would I do it without breaking my game?

Yeah, Bigfoots have first names.
Do you have Two Jeffs Visitor Controller? Annoyying NPC's are banned by default. If you want to see Crumplebutt you need to uncheck her from the plant/books.
Hmmm, first names you say.... I don't have the VC, though. I've no proof, but I think she dissappeared around the same time I installed a new game using the empty templates SaraMK provided. As soon as I replaced those with the game originals, even though it took a while and spwaned some fugly downtownies, she did eventually show up. But it's still only been a couple of times in the last three months (granted I haven't played much in that time) I'm probly just complaining for nothing because I like attention. >_>

day-um, he is hawt. I have yet to see him anywhere in my game. I know I have him, cause I checked the character files in SimPE, but he has yet to show his pretty little sneaky face. Actually, Crumpy hasn't really been around much in my game, either. She did show up a couple days ago to beat on an unsuspecting downtownie for playing on the swings, but that was the last I've seen of her in a while. Also, is Bigfoot supposed to have a random first name? Somehow a big hairy sasquatch named "Richard Bigfoot" just doesn't seem right to me.... and my sim never got the memory of "met bigfoot" even though he got to be practically best friends with the thing.

Yes, but I haven't seen snow in the under-roof either. It does, however, always appear to rain in all houses, even indoors, when it rains, but the sims never seem to notice and no puddles form inside the house or under the roof.
Where is your camera when you are seeing this inside rain, Pes? If the Live mode camera is outside the house, you'll see rain. If you zoom into the house (which usually means uncomfortably close and impossible to see whatever else is going on), there is no rain to be seen.

TSR sucks, that's old news. Still, I miss the WTFness here. I did not get why it was nescessary to make that mesh, is all. All the recolors will only show to those who GET the mesh, even though it would have been perfectly acceptable to create it on the mesh that came with the base game. And I already know TSR is teh debil, no need to remind me. They got my $40 back in January, before I dicovered PSMBD. :-p

Nice place you have here. Too many stories for my taste, but then again, I'm not quite right in the head, I guess. I just don't like playing multi-story homes. The up-down transition seems unnescessary to me, so all my houses are single floor abodes.
What's your beef with Seasons? I'd rather have Seasons installed than OFB, frankly, because at least Seasons came with some actually useful stuff (though, admittedly buggy)(and I hate OFB. I think it's entirely useless).
Dizzy, I prefer to leave the mailbox where it is (seeing as when I move it, my walk-bys come too close to the front door and block the entrance) and I usually move the trashcan to inside the perimeter fence. I've never noticed any odd walk-by behavior due to this (though I did have a floating duck-skunk yesterday during play, but I haven't investigated the cause of that and so I'm not ready to blame anything specific yet.)

"I don't know about that,' said the poet. 'Scorpions sound unpoetic to me. Wild honey and locusts seem more appropriate, according to the standard poetic instructions, although I've never really developed the taste for insects.' 'I've always understood that the kind of locust people ate in wildernesses was the fruit of a kind of tree,' said Conina. 'Father always said it was quite tasty.' 'Not insects?' said Creosote. 'I don't think so.' The Seriph nodded at Rincewind. 'You might as well finish them up, then,' he said. 'Nasty crunchy things, I couldn't see the point.'"

I'm amazed you managed to plough through all these stories. You have the patience of a saint.
I think points should have granted all all the kiddies who prefaced their stories with "soory for the speelling mistak. WTF? They act like putting on that disclaimer gives them complete license to dispense with any type of grammatical rule or spelling convention. Do they preface their school work with that disclaimer as well? I can just imagine them taking offense at their failing grade" WTF!!!111 I sed I was soory for the speeling mistak. stoopid retard teacher.
RE: Plowing through badly written stories. Some people actually do this on a daily basis. A good chunk of them are Harry Potter or LOTR fans, since those fandoms have the most written about them. Communities abound: http://community.livejournal.com/wtffanfiction/profile is just one of them, that I only just peeked at. Also, the disclaimer can get very creative. And still badly spelled. Though I've read some very ...defensive ones that state "i get striate A's in soochl, so ofuck yoyu all abotu my spleling!" Always good times, there.

I think windkeeper has a PJ mesh replacement for females. I've had that in my game for some time, that's why I didn't do the female meshes.
Sorry for the necromancy, but Gwill, thanks for fixing those PJs. The only PJ replacement I've seen from Windkeeper was a kid's PJ replacement, though. Any idea where I can find the other ages?

I'm just starting an Apocalypse challenge and the thought of generations upon generations of sims having crappy Maxis default hair is making me twitch. I don't mind not choosing the hair, I just wish it didn't always end up being the same crappy hairstyle all the time.
Is there a hack, or something I can do in game (that's not technically cheating) to randomize what hair my heirs get?
I'm not sure which pack it really was, but I think it was OFB that fixed this. Before, I had the same problem, where the boys would all have the puff head and the girls would all get that stupid shaggy meg hair. Now they seem to get a more randomised selection. Or it could be that I've just got so much binned custom hair that that has taken over and it's still the same stupid Maxis hair but mixed with my custom stuff.... I do know OFB gave you the mirror option of changing your toddler's hairstyle to something less...dumb.

That's not all. You also get to remove the redundant gray textures, merge the adult and YA propertysets onto a single propertyset, and remove the corresponding MATD(?) of everything you deleted, then rearrange the 3IDRs and Binary index entries for everything you deleted, fix the "Hairtone" entry, and make sure everything isn't "black" or whatever anymore. Lots of fun. I try to avoid too much custom hair for this reason.
Meh. I've never touched those things, and I've never run into any problems because of it. Of course, I don't touch them because I don't know what they do, and if I don't know what something does...I leave it alone so I don't screw it up.

Oh gosh, yeah. Binning hairs is actually one of the things I don't mind doing, because it was the first thing I ever learned how to do in SimPE. So I really don't get why so many don't. And is it really that hard, when binning a set, to remove all but one of the grey recolors? Or to take out the repeat meshes for toddlers and children when the hair is for teen-elder only? I don't know how many times I've downloaded a hair that claimed to be "color-binned!" only to find that I have four grey colors and a repeat of a toddler hair that came with the base game. So I have to open up the hair file, pull out the useless parts, and (even though it makes absolutely no difference) fix the creator, flag, and product values so it shows up without the star.
And I don't like Theo's plugin. I don't get how to use it and binning manually is just easier for me anyway....
I still need to figure out what parts I can safely remove from the hair files. I have several hairs that are all ages, and most of them look pretty darn silly on toddlers/children. And the repeat toddler files are present in some as well. I'm going to re-read the tut's, pick a guinea pig file, and see if I can manage to remove the right stuff. I haven't used the plug-in yet. The instructions confuse me a little. I guess I'll just have to dive in headfirst and see if I can figure it out as I use it. If not, no big deal. Manual binning will work just fine for me! I have gotten into the habit of keeping all my downloads' original zip files (in a seperate folder), just case I screw something up. lol. As for what you can remove from hair files, I never touch anything that isn't in the Property Set part. What's in there is what matters. And since the names are pretty straightforward (u = unisex, m = male, etc [the only roadbump: p = toddler]), just check in Bodyshop what ages you need to get rid of and delete the corresponding name from the file. Ex: you have a file cloned from the longish messy male hair*. The property set lists five ages, toddler through elder, but in BodyShop, only teen through elder have this hair, and the toddler and child corresponding hair is a maxian repeat. Deleting the "puhairpuff_black" and the "cmhairricebowl_black" parts from the property set will be all you'd need to do (the color is almost always black. it's weird that way. This doesn't mean the hair file you're mucking about in is the black recolor, though. Check the texture image to be sure of the hair color you're working with, if it's not plainly labeled in the file name). You can delete the one marked "_grey" from all but one of the recolor files, and that'll be your one elder recolor. The rest of the ages will have names "[age][gender]hairmessy_black." Just bin these as nescessary. Also, I've found out that more often than not, the ages that didn't change from a maxis original have a name different from the rest of the ages. But it's best to double check before removing anything you're not sure of. So...I hope that made sense. Just because I know what I mean, I'm not sure if my explanation is clear enough for other people to follow.... *I use this as an example because I just happen to have it open, as I'm binning it right now. heh.(Also, I wish colorbinning facial hair was this easy)

Since I never yet found a lot that I didn't want to tear apart and rebuild, way back in TS1 days, I only download lots for neighborhood eyecandy. I always avoid custom terrain paints ... they are never better than utterly ghastly. So it is with the greatest of pleasure that I submit my entry. I make this submission in good faith because I am devious, cheating bitch. a) What's actually wrong with that house? The roof is kinda ugly, but the floorplan isn't all that unworkable... is it? (I'm peering at the tiny screenshots and trying to see the flaw.) b) How on earth was it submitted on Thursday, 11 October 2007? Please see here for details. Because Mirelly is a cheater.

I have more entries. Because I just have that much free time. While the crimes against taste at parsimonious are many and varied, their houses don't suck quite as much. There's still enough to taunt, though. http://www.parsimonious.org/realestate2/home/chrlucent_illusion.shtml "Lucent Illusion" At first I was gonna let this one slide, because, while annoyingly ...foofy, it's not the worst thing parsimonious has to offer. The gallery pictures are an abuse of the fisheye cameraman mode zoom, though. But then I noticed this picture...WTF toilets? http://www.parsimonious.org/realestate2/home/etrskyes_mountain_retreat.shtml"Skyes Mountain Retreat" Please step away from the terrain paint tool, Ethan. The house itself doesn't look that unplayable, but seems only suitable for one or two sims. Given the outside yuckyness, this seems a waste of perfectly good space. http://www.parsimonious.org/realestate2/home/etrdreams.shtml "Nightmares""Dreams" WTF is wrong with you, Ethan? Stop it.
