1  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Factoids and Statistics on Skill Gaining on: 2007 July 07, 14:27:24
Thinking back it does make sense, I remember when I got a Child with 10 Activity to max body skill in 2 days and I didn't use Smart milk much back then, Just the Punch bag and a Servo. But now most of my sims have very similar personalities so I guess I stopped noticing different learning rates between them. Now I don't use Smart milk at all after getting bored of Young Adults and Adults with max skills and nothing to do.. so now I know what Scholarships to concentrate on to reflect there personalities, which is better than going for 6-8 random ones Smiley
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: plastic surgery help on: 2007 July 07, 14:10:50
If that doesn't work you could try this http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=56241 but do it the other way around so the modified version (line 2) is replaced by the original (line 1). ie replace the Plastic surgery face with the original face.

Don't forget to backup first though..
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims appearing on lot after a phone call. on: 2007 July 04, 00:12:15
You should definitely be getting a dialog box asking whether the date should be at home or on a community lot, and this should be the first thing after the phone call.  If you are not getting that, then something is broken.

No, only if you ask them out.  If they call you they always want to go downtown.

Thanks, this is great!

And here I thought I was responding to this post:

I'm not sure if this is a glitch, but it sounds sort of related. When I'm playing, my sim teens can no longer go on dates. They'll get permission, call up the sim, I get the box saying "cool" and all that...and then right after the kid hangs up, the date walks on to the property like they've been called to come over. Kid never shows up later with the car. They just show up on the lot after I call.

Sneak out still works though...so I suppose all my simteens will have to make do. Darn. It's not a big deal, but i'm wondering as to why this is happening. If it's related to the mysteriously appearing sims thing above.

Aryn

When a teenage sim asks permission to go out they can then phone a Friend and they go out exactly the same as sneaking out except they do it during the day with no risk. Its been in the game since before Nightlife and Downtown even existed and has nothing to do with Dates or Outings, there something different. So his problem is he calls his friend and asks to "go out" then instead of his friend turning up to pick him up in his car then leaving the lot for a few hours, the sim is coming around as if he was invited over. Ive never had this problem myself though, just thought I would clear it up..

As for the Teleporting sims I used to get that a lot, but I haven't really noticed it since installing Seasons (I don't have pets). I don't play Pop sims as much now, so my sims tend to have less than the usual 20+ best friends so that might also be why  Tongue
4  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Factoids and Statistics on Skill Gaining on: 2007 July 02, 15:32:24
I was reading some of the tool tips when I was playing yesterday and I noticed a few of them about skilling said that some personalities learn some skills faster than others. Like neat sims learning cleaning faster and Outgoing & Nice sims being better at learning charisma, now I know some of the tool tips are false like active sims needing more sleep.. but how true are the ones about skilling?
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ugh Uni - creating your own. on: 2007 July 02, 15:14:12
Its normal for a sim to cry over a bad memory no matter what it is, if he was failing at school he probably cried about his D grade as well when he got that memory. The actual fear of not going to uni would have put him right into Aspiration failure if he got it and a probably a visit from the shrink..

The Nocollegeobsession hack just stops your teenagers obsessing about scholarships their nowhere near getting, they still get the annoying want to go to uni from the day they age to teens.. it does stop Parents rolling wants for it though until there about 5 days from being Adults.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Arrr...Is it safe? on: 2007 June 14, 10:54:08
Is it safe.. to Patch these copies? I didn't bother with the first seasons patch because it didn't fix anything important and I didn't know if would work, but the second patch looks like its worth getting. When I downloaded the patch it said to make sure you have the CD available.. which I can get if I really need it but im wondering if it will install fine without it if I mount the image again or leave the Crack .exe in.. I'm guessing the later wouldn't work though.

oh and btw never use Limewire... last time I tried getting something from there all I got was Trojans and viruses, Torrent spy and other places are a lot safer especially if you read all the comments.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Being Expelled From Uni on: 2007 June 13, 12:16:31
I just did this with a sim who's life I'm trying to make hard... but this game is so dam easy  Roll Eyes When she got to the first semester of senior year I didn't let her go to the final exam and she got put on academic probation and had to repeat the semester and I made sure she failed again, then she was expelled with 2 want locks and 4 fear slots Smiley She had also got on academic probation twice earlier on but they were in different terms... they have to fail the same term twice to be expelled. Oh and she was living in a Greek house at the time and this didn't effect any of the other sims there.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dormie & Townie Anesia on: 2007 June 11, 19:38:47
I made him selectable with Mirola's Mirror after seeing the Cinematic again and the Woohoo symbol spinning above his head just to have a look at his memories and get that screanshot. He didn't move into the house until a few days later. For a while I even thought it might be a problem with me making townies selectable and changing there looks & skintone but its happening to townies Ive never made selectable too, even the maid who I usually let stay after shes finished working keeps loosing her memories. I just used him as an example because his missing memories were the most obvious and easy to see but its happening to every townie, NPC and dormie in that neighborhood.

I know townies get there memories wiped and become just like a fresh CAS sim when they move in, I was running a mod by Syberspunk to stop that from happening which I dont have in anymore since they have no memories to keep Undecided

Your probably right about the gossip memories so I'll nuke them with the debugger and have another look through the memories of some NPC's, that should stop the thought bubble spam about college anyway.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Dormie & Townie Anesia on: 2007 June 11, 11:11:35
Look at the picture again, has he ever met anybody?.. no. So who did he have his first woohoo with? himself? Also how can he roll the want to get married without falling in love first?

I know sims get those 2 memories the first time they do it, the point was he forgot he had already had woohoo in the car at the com lot then got the same memories again at the house. So at some point while the home lot was loading he lost his memories, which could rule out a corrupted Portal or something like that.. I think. These memories aren't the only ones effected there just the most noticeable because of the cinematic that plays the first time 2 sims have woohoo, which I have now disabled because of this.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Dormie & Townie Anesia on: 2007 June 10, 13:20:04
This isn't the normal CAS Memory wipe Townies usually get when they move into your house, or maybe it is but its happening randomly the townies and NPC,s in my game. For a long time now I've noticed Townies getting new memories for things like Making out or falling in love when I was pretty sure they had already done those things before. I run ACR so it happens a lot when I'm downtown. I was even seeing townies get the memory for falling in love just after catching another sim cheating and they fell out of love. But it was rare and I didn't think too much of it at the time.

This got a lot worse when a sim in my 4th generation started Uni every single time she had woohoo with the same dormie he would get the memory for having Woohoo with her because his memory had been wiped since the last time he was on the lot.. This was happening to dormies that were living in the same dorm as well, but one of them still had the memory of falling in love and having woohoo with the first sim I ever sent to uni. She also owned a business lot downtown, every customer that came would be thinking of going to uni so it was probably there most recent memory and the weird thing is my playable sims that showed up would be thinking of Townies going to uni but obviously they hadn't been mind wiped. The same thing happens to all walk byes at the house as well, there always thinking of college.

When she graduated she got the want to marry a rich sim so I spawned Mr Big in my custom hood (she didn't fulfill the want though  Roll Eyes) now heres a pic of him after a date where he managed to have his first ever woohoo TWICE in one date once in the car at the community lot then again in the hot tub on the same date.. http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8002/mrbigdk4.jpg he is new to my neighborhood but there is plenty of missing memories for meeting people and the obvious one is not having the first date memory but he somehow managed a dream date... His memory was somehow erased between leaving the com lot and arriving at the house.

I updated all my FFS and TJ's hacks and it did seem to go for a while, though I was playing a different house at the time. I don't see how that house or even that sim could cause the problem though. It all seemed to happen when she was around though... her Dorm, her business and now her House.. Well I have noticed it happening when I'm playing other houses now as well so that rules her out anyway..

Since this became a real problem in my game I've been running in debug all the time but I have never got an error log, so I cant post one of those sorry.. When I took a look in SimPE at the townies memories I found one teen townie with no memories at all only tokens for eating different food and stuff like that. A alot of the other townies had the usual CAS memories..

This is very random sometimes it happens constantly to all sims that appear on lots and sometimes it will be fine or only effect some townies.. so trying to find out what hack if any is causing this could take a while, Ive already tried taking out any hacks that even remotely effect Memories like the Move in all hack but it didn't help. I played one of my older neighborhoods created in the exact same way the other day and I didn't notice any problems but like I said its random.

Has anybody ever heard of this happening before or know how I can fix it because its driving me insane  Undecided
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: time not working correctly in lot on: 2007 May 25, 20:56:45
I had the same problem with one of my lots not long after installing seasons. I didn't actually get a fire though but I couldn't get the error messages to stop with reset so I used the delete option so I guess thats why. The game ran normally after I hit delete so I removed all the trellis bushes and I've never used them since, I remember thinking at the time they must be a badly made custom tree but nope there Maxis  Roll Eyes. Shame I really liked them.. The Insiminator has an extinguish all fires on lot option which I think I used afterwards so that might be why Ive never had any invisible fires there since, not sure if it would work on them or not though. anyway heres my error log in case the original poster doesn't come back.

12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How stable is Pets P2? on: 2007 May 24, 09:29:41
One of my sims had a pretty good salon which I got up to lvl 10. Before I installed seasons my sim would stick to the chair, I would tell her to Dazzle or show a customer the chair (any of the 3 chairs) and she would return right back to hers. Since installing seasons she wanders off doing something else, so I have to pause the game and reassign her to it every time which is a pain in the neck. If somebody tries to talk to her before I reassign her (which they always do) you have to start your whole sales pitch to the customer again. So yeah Salons suck since Seasons/Pets, just as well I got it to lvl 10 beforehand so I just sold it.

Seasons is probably still the best EP though so I definably wouldn't let something like that put you off installing it, or Pets which I don't have since it offers nothing new except pets and bugs  Tongue
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Secret Society Members in Clean Uni on: 2007 May 23, 19:53:45
I had the exact same problem with the first sim I sent to Uni in my custom hood set up the same way. She was friends with most of the dormies (in her dorm anyway) before I gave up and cheated her into the SS and when I visited the lot the place was full of her friends. So I'm pretty sure there was only ever the two SS members until the game needed to generate more when I visited the lot. I hope your not too apposed to cheating because I think its the only way to fix it. I eventually gave up and used the college adjuster to join in Junior year, even in Pleasantview with Maxis dormies I managed to join by the end of freshman year when I didn't know who was in the SS already.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: law career teleprompter annoyance on: 2007 May 23, 19:38:47
I tried that and the kids just stand next to it waving there hands in the air all day because they cant get to it  Roll Eyes So I took a look at twojeffs hack to figure out how it worked and made my own version for the Law Teleprompter. I can upload it if anybody wants it, its just the same as twojeffs TeleprompterNoAutoplay but it works for the other career reward instead.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fat Dormies on: 2007 May 19, 00:34:30
I've had treadmills in dorms before and never saw a dormie autonomously use them.

Just buy an EDS for your Dorm. Thats all I do and its always getting used by the dormies and only a couple of the really lazy ones are fat, but sometimes even they loose a bit of weight for a while. Visiting community lots with them helps keep your townies slim too.
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bluescreen "IRQL not less or equal" on start-up on: 2007 May 06, 19:57:54
I had a similar problem for a while with my card, eventually I found out how to fix it. First I uninstalled my Graphics card driver and updated them, then updated the bios which I was pretty nervous about doing but it went fine. Abit make it easy though other motherboards might not be so straight forward and I don't know if it was necessary.

When its all set up go into ATI Catalyst Control Center and find the SmartGart settings. Set the AGP Speed to 4x and disable fast write. Now your computer should be alot more stable. I have only had one Bluescreen of death since I did this a month or 2 ago and I used to have constant crashes. I did keep my Graphic Card Drivers fairly up to date too so I think it has more to do with the SmartGart settings than anything else.

Sorry I don't have the link to where I found out how to fix this, but I'll add it later if I find it.
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Community lot pauses with Seasons? on: 2007 May 06, 19:33:52
It could be caused by sims having water balloon fights, or it is on my computer anyway. It took me a while to figure out what was causing all the pauses in my game, but I noticed a slight lag every time a sim tried to start a water balloon fight and an even bigger lag if I tried to start one myself on a small lot without much space outside. Then get a message saying to clear up some space. Its a pain in the neck when they try to play with a sim thats busy, then they try again with another sim, then another and its pausing every few seconds  Undecided

The weird thing is my new 5x5 lot lags a lot less than my old smaller lot which makes me think its just the game struggling to find space for the sims to go and play. I stopped going to the Lulu lounge and I dont get bugged by as much lag, my romance sims just have to settle for the Photo Booth at Crypt 'O Night Club instead of the hot tub now. The hot tub warms the sims up and they try to cool off with a water balloon fight...
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Too many iterations? on: 2007 April 08, 14:17:59
Whenever I play at one of my lots I keep getting the same error messages every few sim hours about the "Controller - Relationship Decay" the weird thing is the log reports refer to objects not sims relationships which I guess is what its supposed to control from the name  Undecided The error says there is too many iterations. Is there anyway to fix this without leaving the lot, this is the greek house my sims have used for a long time now and its grown pretty big so I don't want to just leave it.

Ive attached 2 log files if anyones interested, the second one mentions the FFS Encouragificator but ive been using that hack for ages without any problems so I doubt its that causing it. Its the only time a hack is mentioned instead of an object though.

Im having a problem with this conflicting with no unneeded coats by Dr Bortis. The APO wasn't showing up in my game to buy so I ran the hack scanner from Sims wardrobe and I got.

20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Poll: How do you feel about accidental deaths in the Sims 2? on: 2007 March 29, 20:15:19
I have only ever had one accidental death in my game. The servo started making a Baked Alaska which he was addicted to doing, I canceled the action and told him to do something useful, then instead of just throwing it away I had one of my Sims finish it off and he set himself on fire with it  Roll Eyes The same thing happened again a couple of sims days later except it was the servo that did it with max cooking skill. I'm starting the think this game has lucky and unlucky game sessions the way things happen sometimes.

After I originally read this thread and voted for more deaths I had a visitor (playable sim) at my lot catch fire in the hot tub, lucky I was busy with another sim in the garden or I wouldn't have noticed and he would be dead. Guess I got what I asked for.
