TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: AL Patch issued at EA website

I'm also sad to see there was no fix for school bus issue. Which was a problem for me, even in a vanilla game. I tested it with different Maxis-made lots and it did not seem to depend on whether or not the lot had a "Walk to" sign.
Also sad to see no fix for landlord's pizza party suckage (where the landlord wont leave after). I have not played enough to witness this yet, but have seen this complained about in multiple places.
I'll be staying patch free, at least for the time being.

To me a gearhead is someone who is into cars/engines/big machines.
My personal strategy for this EP was to start a new TS2 folder to play from. When the spawning issue is worked out I'll do the necessary and return to my legacy family with a cleaned up Apartment Life template/game

You'll have to indulge my current ignorance as it has been a LONG time since I have been able to play TS2.
If I remember correctly, the game played from the last game installed, not necessarily from the newest EP.
So, could I install all my new stuff, and install say, Nightlife last.. could I still play from the disc and avoid suckurom?
Or do I remember incorrectly, and would I still have to get a No CD for Apartment Life?
I ask simply because No CD cracks would be new territory for me and I'm a big chicken. Bawk bawk.
ETA: I am clearly a moron and of course that is not the case. Now I get to wade into the world of No CD cracks for the first time.

I restart regularly it seems, no matter what I try to keep my interest.
I have restarted with new hard drives, graphics cards, too much custom content that I lost track of, just got bored, etc etc.

I don't know how much just the processor is off hand, but the entire build was quoted to me at $615 CDN.
Keep in mind it does not include a monitor, the fiddly bits, or OS as I plan to use my existing copy of XP. And they will install and update XP for me (service pack 1)... which is one less thing to bother with.
From what I've been looking at it seems to be a pretty fair price. I'm happy to pay the possible little bit extra for having a machine built locally with support that is close and friendly.
I have only ever considered ATI, for their stability with TS2 and, actually, the company is based very very nearby so I feel like I am supporting a small, local business. I know that's not really the case but it still makes me feel slightly warm and fuzzy.
My only concern was that the 3650 is supposed to be the better of the cheaper HD cards. Would love a 3870 but it's like 60% more expensive and I really do need to look at cost right now. So I wanted to check and make sure that it is still a viable care for TS2. But, I was playing with a x1300 pro before... so I'm hoping this will be even prettier.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graphics Card opinions

Long story short, I need a new computer. I'm feeling kind of poor as of late, so don't want to go completely crazy having a new system built but I do want something that will play my game and make me a happy person.
I'm not a huge gamer. I play TS2 obviously, Warcraft and Age of Mythologies. Not much beyond that.
The computer place I have been speaking to are recommending the 512 MB ATI HD 3650, for playability and cost. From everything I have read recently it seems a pretty good compromise.
I am looking at a computer with the following:
500 gig hard drive 4 gigs RAM 2.5 ghz Intel core 2 duo processor DVD drive/burner etc, etc
So, I should be happy with my gameplay if I ask them to go ahead with it. Yes?

Just wanting to clarify one thing.. although I think I already know the answer.
BV give us an ugly new Maxis family. Neat. I'll can them. BUT..... the locals are ugly maxis ones, and not spawned from custom name/face templates?
I'm thinking I'll wait awhile for this one... until the wrinkles are ironed out and whatnot. Vacation never did it for me, and I doubt I'll be too into this one.

I just wanted to say thank you for this. SimPE and my computer do not get along, so this is a lovely way for me to end up with sims that actually use my favourite set of face replacements, and not deal with all the other crap, whether it be sim surgery or properly deleting sims or whatever. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've finally started a legacy family because of all the work you've done, something I've not bothered to do until now... and any previous attempts at DAC ended in disaster (only in "testing" 'hoods, of course). I was starting with a fresh game yet again due to a harddrive change and wanted to do it maxis fuglies free this time around. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you.
