TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted For Updated Monique's Cheap Computer (FreeTime)

I cannot thank you enough for updating Monique's computer, Chaavik. As far as I can tell it's working perfectly for me, with the possible exception being game competitions. However, I've been having a hard time getting them to work right in the first place with Maxis computers. But everything is fine and it is SO great to have this back in my game again!

Those must be really "close" family members. giggle What did you do to cause that do you think? This was the first time I'd played this neighborhood since OFB (and the patch.) I had teleported the wife to another lot before this happened. She had the "missing neighbor for data access" thing happening, so I deleted her and figured I'd deal with her at her own house. Then when I got to her house, I found her and her husband like that. Gee, maybe he was the missing neighbor and she really, really missed him... Anyway I deleted the entire family except for one person (with Insim) because they were all sort of stuck where they were. I brought them back and everything was fine.

>You don't know my situation. Did you ever think that maybe, I can't have kids? Or that it will be hard for me to have them? That >kinda makes you an ass for saying that my opinion is worthless.
Let's see, I said, admitting it might be unfair to say this, that I think people who don't have children shouldn't even have an opinion on this. You then responded by calling me stupid and an ass. Let's just let that speak for itself.
And all I was saying is that unless you've had a child and BREASTFED you don't really know how breastfeeding works so there may be a lot of things you're not aware of about those women you THINK are just exhibitionists or whatever. If you can't have children or are having trouble having them, I'm sorry but that still doesn't change this fact. And if you think "Oh when I have a child I'll breastfeed but I'll pump and always keep covered up... " you MIGHT find that things don't go quite like you planned. It's just one of those things that you don't know about until you get there. And basically if anybody thinks it's gross to see a woman breastfeeding in public, then THEY can get up and leave, it's their not problem, not the mother's and not the baby's.
And you know I REALLY resent being called stupid and an ass so blatantly. As you go through this thread it's pretty easy to tell the nice people from the not so nice ones. Geez even Pescado has been civil! (And I'm wondering how long it will be until he closes this thread.)

No. Feeding a baby is fine, breastfeeding is fine, breastfeeding in public without at least a blanket or something is RUDE. That's your opinion, and it's not shared by everyone. I see nothing rude about feeding a child in public, in fact I'd far rather sit in a restaurant near a woman breastfeeding a baby than some toddler in a high chair with food smeared all over their face. THAT is disgusting, and a majority of parents will just let it be that way and not bother to wipe their face, in fact some adults encourage this sort of sloppy child eat because they think it's cute or something. But a woman with a baby latched onto one nipple and maybe the other nipple (gasp!) exposed too, gosh that's just GROSS. And as for pumps and feeding breastmilk in bottles, oh if ONLY it was that simple. Pumps don't necessarily work right, or at all. You know, maybe it isn't fair to say this, but I think that only women who've had a child and been through the breastmilk vs. formula decision have any right to even HAVE an opinion on this topic. You just don't know unless you've been there, and I've been on both sides (which my Sims kids will too. They will be breastfed when it's covenient for mom but when it's not dad and others will feed them formula from a bottle, and they will still get A+ grades and always age transition platinum and have fabulous lives, just like my son. So there!)

Ah ha, I also have that same potted plant my Sim got as a plumbob in her store as a spawned sectional - and she was fine at home, she only got POTTED when she arrived at her business. And come to think of it, I have a stool in the house where the woman got the stool in her butt plumbob. That must be it then, thanks Marg! It really is easy to fix by just deleting the plumbob, so it's an amusing glitch that does no harm. And I have the Insim's motive monitor disguised as plants and statues at nearly all my business lots, so I probably have a lot more of this amusing glitch to look forward to. But for the original poster, this is the thread that discusses the issue you're having: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=2885.0And as for other weird plumbob issues, how about two Sims sharing a plumbob? It's nice to see married couples who are close, but this is ridiculous:

On the subject of who should be allowed to breastfeed (in the game), I feel compelled to point out that in real life, breastfeeding advocates say that it is possible that a woman who adopts a child and was not pregnant herself can breastfeed. I don't know where they stand on men who got pregnant by aliens, I've never asked.

Hey, just so Motoki doesn't get all the glory: Or how about this: The easy way to fix it is to delete the plumbob with move objects on, then it pops back in its regular diamond form. (But the original poster's problem is altogether different and there's another thread about that error.)

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Would you download a hack from a modder who says stuff like this?
|

I think you have to consider that Christianluv speaks English as a second language, he's made some fabulous mods (including the All-in-One NPC), and I really don't think it's fair to judge a modder based on one, one-line comment in a thread. And as rudeness goes, you could get A LOT more rude than "That's called coincidence." Again, this is not a native English speaker, so consider that. Christianluv has worked his tail off on the All-in-One NPC and he's been nothing but helpful and considerate in all his posts. He constantly apologizes for English not being his native language (though actually his English is pretty good), so I REALLY don't think he meant a bit of harm by "That's called coincidence", he probably doesn't perceive that as sarcasm the way we do. Or if he does, maybe he was just having a bad day. Believe me if we're judging modders on attitude, Christianluv is at the top. I could name a handful of others who are at the bottom, but I won't.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: My Sims can't buy books - error message

No you're definitely supposed to be able to sell individual books from a bookshelf just by marking an entire bookcase for sale, in fact I got it to work after removing my entire download folder. Then I started the process of putting my downloads back in little by little to figure out which one was causing the problem. It appears to be a certain custom bookcase I had that was causing the problem by simply being in my download folder. You can't sell books from custom bookcases (at least older ones that were made before OFB), but you can have them in your game, except that one. It was called "My Favorite Books" and it appeared to be just a recolour of the Maxis Bibliofile bookcase, but in Clean Installer it came up as a game object. But anyway now it's gone, and all the rest of my downloads are back and I can sell books.
The thing about having to take one book out is a rumour that's been posted around but it's not true, all you need to do is mark an entire bookcase for sale and Sims buy individual books from it. And you can't mark an individual book that's sitting out for sale, at least I can't.
And now that I have this working, let me tell you, Sims will buy books like they're going out of style! And when you check their inventory after they've bought one the books have witty and amusing titles, though all they can do with them is read or study like usual.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / My Sims can't buy books - error message
|

I know you're supposed to be able to sell books individually by marking a bookcase for sale. But when any of my customers try to buy a book, they take the book off the shelf, stand up (because for whatever reason, Sims always choose a book from the bottom shelf), and then the book just disappears. After watching this happen a few times I turned on testing cheats and the error message I get is "Animation name is empty string." So... I probably have a hack that's causing this, yes? I have Monique's learn all skills from the bookcases hack, but I took that out (it was the first one I suspected) and I still had the problem. It happens with Maxis bookcases too, not custom ones. For some reason it's bugging me immensely that I can't sell books. Magazines work fine, and other buy-one-from-the-display items, like cologne. It's just the books that don't work. Help!?

The armpit scratching is a lazy Sim thing, though I have no idea what that has to do with being lazy. I don't mind having some lazy Sims, and I don't mind the slow spin thing either (I don't quite understand why that bothers some people, but to each his own.) But the armpit habit is annoying and I have no idea what it has to do with being lazy, but it is only lazy Sims who do it.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anybody else having coffee cup weirdness with NL?
|

I have two houses where I've noticed a problem. In one, they drink standing up in the kitchen, then put the cup on the floor, even though there's a sink and dishwasher RIGHT behind them. Then this other guy in a new house I just built sits at the kitchen counter to drink the coffee, then goes into the dining room, up the stairs, into the TV room and sets the cup on a coffee table. Then if I let him alone for about three seconds he'll pick the cup up, walk downstairs, into the kitchen and wash it in the sink. Sometimes I think certain Sims are just plain crazy.
Anyway my solution may be to put an invisible coffee table in the kitchens. I got one (an invisible coffee table) recently to replace the payathtebox hack; put it next to the mailbox so they'll set the mail on it and you don't lose track of it. I don't use them for that now though since Monique's computer lets you pay bills online. But invisible tables can come in handy for a variety of things.

I have the coffee cup hack which is on the list of hacks that works with Nightlife, but lately my Sims seem to be back to trudging off over hill and dale to find a table to put their coffee cups on. Usually then they IMMEDIATELY pick it up and go wash it in the sink. I considered the possibility that Inge's no cleaning up at restaurants hack might have been causing this, but I took that out and it's still happening. So alas, I suspect the coffee cup hack isn't working right with NL. Unless there's yet another hack I have that could be conflicting, but I don't know what. Anybody else have any ideas on this?

About calling in the middle of the night, I also was able to call around 1 am with no problem. I tried it later, at about 4 am, and what happens now is that the "phone harrassment is bad" message doesn't pop up until after you've chosen who you want to call. So if it's a vampire, you don't get the phone harrassment message; if it's a normal Sim, you do. So this aspect is working perfectly. I wonder too though, if Nightlife has changed the cutoff calling time to 2 am (makes sense, being NIGHTLIFE and all.)

Yeah, but, pillow fighting in the street, pillow fighting in the kitchen, pillow fighting every chance they get a free moment (and where do they GET the pillows from anyway?) The only thing worse than Sims' obsession with pillow fighting, is their obsession with kicky bag. I still have Twojeff's no kicky bag indoors hack in, even though it in Nightlife it disables kicky bag completely. I can live with that. I begrudingly took noroadpillows out when I found out it messes something up (though I at the moment I don't remember what.)
