Simgoose, you don't have an option to select which fruit to use for a recipe that uses generic fruit. It will pick one for you based on what you have and it seems to go in a certain order.  For instance if you have apples, you'll always use apples for pancakes and other recipes. I had some of each fruit in the fridge, and first it used all the apples, then the grapes, then the limes, and then the watermelons. If you are trying to control which fruit you use in a recipe, make sure that fruit is the only fruit in your fridge. Have a different sim pull out all fruit you do not want to use and leave only the thing you do want to use.
Awwww, I'm with you now... Awesome. So it must go in some sort of order. Cheers. Will play around with this later on and see if I can fulfill some of those wishes. Mind you I think I removed them all because I had no idea how to do it! Thanks though.

Death flowers are only supposed to get one harvest, unless your Sim has the green thumb trait (whatever it's actually called), and then they can revive it once more.
Super Green Thumb

Just make sure you have apples in the fridge; I find that different foods you can make will randomly select something in your fridge, though I am unsure if it will do the same should your fridge be empty.
I've brought like 10 each of everything from the shop, and dumped it into my fridge, and still don't see these options.
I thought it was a matter of dropping the foods onto the blender or something... Hmm. Will try again, I guess.

On the note of gardening: what are peoples experiences with Death Flowers? I find I get one or two harvests off of them before they die, which strikes me as odd because that is quite short in comparison with other plants.
What is the purpose of the Death Flower? Can I feed it to my wife? Lulz

Not so much a gardening question per say, but is some what to do with food...
How does one mix foods? eg: Apple Cobbler and other wishes sims have. I have no idea.
Some one mentioned it in another thread, but didn't actually say how it was done.

And the beauty about UAC is that you can turn it down or off with out having to reboot the PC.
I used vLite on one of my builds to remove the secondary administrator account, so that I didn't need to 'run as administrator' with some apps, even though I was admin.
And added the reg key and some other things to it, so it would install with out needing my attention.

I am running Windows 7 x64 bit RC build 7100 with The Sims 3 and it runs great.
I was also running the RLD version on x64 Win 7, but was having it crash a hell of a lot.
I installed Win 7 x86 but with the RZR release, and had 0 crashes.
I'm picking up my official copy of the game tonight, and will format with the latest 7137 RC of x86.
From talks with a mate, who ran TS3 on both Vista and 7; 7 seems much better.
Windows 7 FTW.

My God, the toddler and where her hand is positioned is so wrong, yet so hilarious.
And the look on her face is so evil! Wouldn't have been as funny with a normal face. Hehe. Priceless!

Even at 10 skill, they suck. Master painter sims cannot paint any better than a 10 year old.
So very true, I had my Sim paint and paint like 10 of each type of painting in hope to get better (even though he was at level 10 and mini painting achievements complete).
After inviting Sims over to paint their portrait, it is still a massive fail on this side of things! Like mentioned, it seems to add random filters on the paintings (why?).
Why not paint what you see in the capture window, and/or at least allow the user to add funky filters? Gees! Thanks EA for this wonderful feature.

Couple of Painting Questions:
I have had a wish sitting in the queue for a while now "Paint something over $5,000", I have all the traits and lifetime rewards to help in the venture and all motives high, but for the life of me, cannot make anything over +/-$4,200 <$5,000. Also, the value seems to decrease if I paint one after another. (And this is the same with books) :S

Does anyone know of an easy way to do this, or is it just a matter of painting something 4,200+ and waiting for it to appreciate in value? (Would EA be this smart?)
Does the price of paintings increase when the artist dies?

I read in another thread, that you can use the 'resetSim FirstName LastName' cheat.
I'm not sure if this would help in this case. Might be worth a shot though.
10  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighborhoods and Townie creation (Updated for BV) on: 2008 March 09, 02:05:15
but it is also good to stop the regen of the sims, because some times it can be come to much. etc.
11  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighborhoods and Townie creation (Updated for BV) on: 2008 March 09, 02:04:21
If you are using nodormieregen then no, dormies will not be created. You may also want to use nossrespawn if you add your Sims to the Secret Society (via testing cheats or a mod) so the game doesn't generate a plethora of fugly members.
mind you, providing u have all the necessary items, sims when they generator will look fine.
if u download a default skin replacement,
and the CAS face replacements,
and delete the thumbnails then they wont be made with suck big mouths and faces etc.
(this more so for when u create them in the CAS, so it will regen according to the package)
i think there is some tuts on this, and other things u can do.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday House Elsewhere (Other then on BV hood)? on: 2008 March 08, 13:54:37

13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Holiday House Elsewhere (Other then on BV hood)? on: 2008 March 08, 10:48:32
So i have noticed you can make hotel in the base hood.
im wondering if its possible to have a home away from home in any of the hoods instead of the BV ones.
ie. having a vacation home in the base n/hood. seems silly i know.
but i had a question from my brother to ask if its possible.
cheers.

now thats awesome! cheers J.M.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: In Game (Annoying) Message Boxes on: 2008 March 07, 06:33:26
yeah im pretty sure that is in my DL dir.
but it still doesn't effect the skill spam messages etc.
ill have a look at the nohobbyspam package
see if its possible to edit with related code for skill messages.
unless there is one floating around that will do this already.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / In Game (Annoying) Message Boxes on: 2008 March 07, 06:09:59
ok, FreeTime has tipped me over the edge, and now I'm looking for a solution
I am sick and tired of the bloody hobbiests popping up saying, "you loosing enthusiasm for some crap"
not only that but the message box that comes up saying your sims have gained a logic skill, etc.

please some one...
tell me there is light at the end of this friggen tunnel and a way to disable these types of boxes?

some of them i would like to keep, ie bills needing to be paid etc. but not ones relating to skills or loosing enthusiasm.
im sure there are other ones that are annoying, but this is a start.

anyone got any tips or ideas or mods/hacks to limit/get rid of these??
18  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2008 March 07, 04:47:10
So im playing the new hood that came with FreeTime. and ive got a hand on the QA version of SimPE
And im wanting to remove some of the not so pretty and dumb sims from that hood, to save time building my own.
Ive noticed that SimPE has a plug-in called "The Sim Deleter Tool" which is integrated into it, made at Theo's Shack.

I did some playing around with a backed up hood last night, and using this tool, I deleted the Sim, and went to another
sim and checked memories and it had removed the "Met: John Doe" from there.

Question time:
If I delete a sim using this from the n/hood package will this in turn be like using this tutorial? or is this still as bad?
Will this remove these tokens relating to customer loyalty etc?

I know that this is the MATY fourm, but alot of mods use the SimPE for things, so any help would be great.
Cheers.
19  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Editing the EAxis Hobby Lots on: 2008 March 07, 04:22:49
So we are still running with the Tutorial as being ok to edit the secret lots? Or does it cause bad coding and crap like J.M has said.
this is still a very awesome thing. Because lets face it... EAxis dont really do anything thing tha good... coding. sims. lots.
Thanks Zazazu.
Also. got the QA accepted for SimPE approved 10mins after the request, played with it alot last night. Cheers.
20  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Editing the EAxis Hobby Lots on: 2008 March 06, 11:16:44
thanks Zazazu, ill give that a shot.
my apologizes for wasting your time when i should have read the whole thing, instead of skimming.
oh well, not to worry, EVERYONE is human. and makes mistakkes. *oops* my bad.
Cheers
21  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Editing the EAxis Hobby Lots on: 2008 March 06, 03:41:55
This will still work with the BV version of SimPe?
22  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighborhoods and Townie creation (Updated for BV) on: 2008 March 05, 08:06:26
to save editing the top post... i did this... and left the LOT files in... and it seems to have worked...
but is this the right way?

i also edited the FT hood package files. and copied from what the empty Pets one or anything one looked like, and got rid of the sims from that. i will not know if it has worked properly until i test it to see if things can still be done. but yeah. miono... ill call this hood a 'test' for now. until everything gets fixed. i just hated playing the pre-packed hoods.
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Clean custom neighborhoods and Townie creation (Updated for BV) on: 2008 March 05, 05:34:19
Im currently in the process of doing this now. as i want to build a brand new custom hood, with only my own stuff etc...
Question (and from what i can see and read, mind you im sick in bed with a flu, I cannot see it...)

Has any one created the clean tempates for BV?

What im looking for is the subhoods, with the lots and comlots etc, with out, townies,to many npcs etc?

These would also be good for the other ones to, I have noticed there is 'Cleaned" templates, which still have the playable famailes etc.

But im just after the subhoods with all lots intact, with no sims in site, to make my own etc.

Any help would be good, will not add any vaction subs for a while.

Cheers.

EDIT:... Just looking at the A001 dir now... if i delete the charater files, but leave the lots, and repleace it with the A001_Neighborhood.package from the argon_BV-ocd.zip will this give me what im looking for?

And likewise with the Downtown (D001) etc? (im not a big fan of building so much, so wanna keep all the orginal stuff. (at this stage))
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Autonomously Pet Breeding on: 2008 March 01, 03:51:07
Ok, so before the rush of FreeTime questions come in. if they haven't already...
Im curious to know, is there a hack that will allow my pets to breed by them selves?
With out me having to click the "mate with.." option?
I thought this was the case before the patch came out. im not sure.
but if some one out there has a way i can make them do it themselves, that would be great.
Cheers.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Basement water issues, knee deep in water. on: 2007 December 21, 15:46:13
This is especially true with BV.  If your house with basement (or level below normal ground level) is at the same elevation as the beach, anything under that level is below the waterline.  If you install a house with basement from your lots bin, if you want to avoid remodelling your terrain, ensure that such houses are placed at higher elevations.
so really there isnt much different between having a beach lot and a normal lot... apart from waves... grr. good ol EAixs! well all good now... i moved the house up higher.
hopefully a fix or something comes out to fix this though. im picking when it comes to placement of my houses... hehe. all good now though. a "live-with-it" scenario.

cheers for the help.
