I agree completely about taking more time between expansions!  Not only because of the problems, but I haven't even really played with the pets, let alone the next 3 I installed and faught with to find the right updates for my downloads, etc. etc.    I like to keep up because of new downloads and hacks, but yeesh!  I'm thinking I'll have lots of time to catch up when they come out with Sims3, just as long as I can restrain from trying it.
2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: I know JM doesn't recommend a laptop running the game....But! on: 2008 February 14, 01:03:35
Argon,

It was booting the toshiba screen but the screen became so garbled that I couldn't tell if it was in windows or not.  When it came back though, I had a heck of a time with my graphics card.  I finally found the correct driver upgrade and it ran tickety boo after that.  I backed all that stuff up a few days before she blew, thank goodness.  It has been an awesome computer short of this motherboard thing.

My problem is the that I have to send it out puralator every time I have a problem.  Even Dell has an authorized dealer here, and their closest is Edmonton?  Doesn't make sense to me, don't see dells on the shelves here but lots of toshiba's!  lol Bitching doesn't help, why would they care.

I'm thinking of getting a local shop here to build me one next time, then they can take care of it for me.  Thanks all for you help on this.  It made me realize that I need more ram on my desktop, it's on order!  lol  Game slows down and I look at downloads, never ram.

Thank you so much, didn't want to give up the game on this machine.  I never use it on my lap, have a little computer tray.  I will check into getting more ram while it is in getting fixed.  Mean time, I'll try REAL hard to cut back on my download folder.  Much appreciated.

I bought a Toshibia Qosimio G30-Av4 october 2006.  By march 2007, I had major problems with it and had to send it in.  Turned out the mother board was gone.  They replaced it, the hell I had to go through to send it out and get it back, was something I never thought of when I bought this machine.  There is not one Toshiba authorized dealer in my area, way up north in BC, so I had to send it to Vancouver.  Anyway, long story short, it came back a month and a half later.  Ran fine.  I run up to Seasons, no fun packs.  About 1.8 gigs of downloads, my hacks are from maty.

I bought this machine because of the specks, being told also by the sales people that it would run TS2 without a problem.  It has intel Core 2 Duo T7200 - 2.0 GHz, 2 GB ddr2, 220 GB HDD, Nvidia GeForce Go 7600 256 mb graphics.  Windows Xp Media.

Never did have any problems running the game.  Then come March, getting major bsod's ,my screen goes wierd, green stripes down it, funny crap happening, couldn't boot into windows, that I could see because of all the funny crap on my monitor.  I send it out, which I won't get into, but god dam does Toshiba suck for customer service! Sent the thing down to Vancouver, and it was the motherboard, they replaced it.  The computer was only 5 months old.

Now here I am, same shit happening, Toshiba tells me that the motherboard they replaced it with, is only under warrenty as long as the computer is, which was last october.  I have extended warrenty, if I drop it, spill on it, whatever, i get a new one.  They tell me once again to send it to vancouver.  There goes another month of my life.  Now, besides my bitches about Toshiba, with these specs, TS2 should NOT be the problem, am I right?  That's what I want to know, cuz i don't do anything with this computer but play TS2, Simcity, surf the net, and talk on msn.  Msn was acting up just before the crash, if I tried to do a video call or set my web cam settings, msn would freeze up and I'd have to cold boot the machine because msn wouldn't close or do a dam thing but sit there pissing me off.

I'd just like to know from the great one, is it TS2 screwing me up, or did I just get a dam good dud of a laptop?  Yes yes, i may be non awesome, but I need to know for sure!  lol  Any help is appreciated, I paid a good penny for this laptop, just so I could play my game when we are on the road, and if it isn't the machine for it, I will smash it and collect my accidental damage warrenty!  lol  Didn't pay all that money for nothing.

Thanks all, even if there are sarcastic remarks, I will appreciate them.

PS:  Oh great JM, the machine has never once heated up while running TS2 or anything else.

I found the shower/bath/soak in hotub helps.  It is a pain in the patuti to get them there though.  In this game though, patience is the virtue! Grin
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lighting so poor in houses on: 2007 January 15, 20:45:06
yeah, I tried replacing all the windows in one house.  I had this happen a long time ago, and I don't remember what I did.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lighting so poor in houses on: 2007 January 15, 20:06:33
Thank you for your reply.  Yes, CEP 4.0 did have the option of install the mod.  I mistakenly installed it, but when I installed 5.0, it should have taken it out, looks like maybe it didn't.  I will check the documentation.  Thanks again.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Lighting so poor in houses on: 2007 January 15, 19:49:53
I took the neighborhood sims I was playing, packaged them and their lots, simpe the memories, relationships, repackaged, and installed in a new neighborhood with a new install of the game.  Now the sims have their memories, but no relationships other than the household.  Anyone know what could have happened there?

What I was trying to do here is have the sims I packaged remember each other and have their family ties remain the same when they moved into the new neighborhood, so I left only the memories of the custom sims I packaged to take to the new neighborhood.  I had all the relationships to only the custom sims also, no townies or npc's, and they are gone.  Is there something I can do or should I just give up the idea and start allllllllll over again!  Huh

Second problem is, the houses are so dark you can't see the floor and wall color, they are all a dark brown.  Removing a wall brings on lots of light, replacing windows doesn't help.  Also, the sims pics when you load them look kinda grey.  I had CEP 4.0 then installed 5.0 to see if it changed anything and it doesn't.  Dazed and confused here.

Let the lip ripping begin!  Thanks for your help.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No package button on: 2007 January 14, 05:10:18
Okay, I'm totally unawesome!  Worthy of lip ripping.  I click on the bottom icon, the I and it suddenly changed to what it should have been.  Not that I like embarrassing myself, but someone else might be searching for the same answer.  Got my sims packaged and all is well.  Thanks for you advice.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No package button on: 2007 January 12, 04:13:56
yes, thank you, but I have played a few, most are in just lots, nothing built there.  Still doesn't give me that package button!
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No package button on: 2007 January 11, 04:52:59
I packaged some sims on lots from a neighborhood and put them in a new install, test neighborhood.  I spent days in simpe getting rid of memories and relationships.  Then I went to package them up to start a new neighborhood with only those sims and memories of each other, there is no package option when I click on the lots.  Anyone know what might be the problem or if there is a fix for this.  Love these sims!  Thanks ahead of time. I have all expansions except for pets, and FFS installed.  I'm using simpe 0.58.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No woohoo interactions? on: 2006 December 18, 02:24:31
Thanks for all the suggestions.  Their relationship is 100 on both sides, in love.  There are no interactions in the hot tub or the bed, they just sit there doing nothing.  I never thought about the love potion, never used it, but would it matter if their relationship was maxed I'm wondering?  They have the woohoo wants etc, I just don't get it.  I still haven't tried the woohoo with another partner to see if that works.  Will do that first before I keep fretting about it.  Like I said, they have three children now, just wanted a few more to fill my neighborhood.  I'll keep digging.  Thanks again.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No woohoo interactions? on: 2006 December 15, 13:47:06
Both have over days left before aging.  I'll try the woohoo with different sim and see what happens, thanks!
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / No woohoo interactions? on: 2006 December 15, 03:18:59
I have a couple that have three children.  Moved them into a bigger house because I wanted more.
Now I'm getting no interactions at all after I have them relax on the bed.  They will talk, same with hot tub, no interactions.  I moved them out, then back in, removed the downloads folder, still nothing.  Moved them into a new house, still no try for baby, it's there, but when I click on it, they just sit there doing nothing.  I took them to a community lot where I have a little love nest set up, same thing.  I played another family, try for baby worked with them.  It's just this one couple.  I have up to OFB installed, no packs.  No insimenator either.  Any suggestions anyone?  Thanks ahead of time.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Grief, woe, despair and hideous black screens on: 2006 November 25, 05:40:27
I don't know if this will help, but we had similar problems with my daughters machine.  Months later, updated the bios and that was the ticket.  Good luck.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - Hot Tub and Bed Jump Bug? on: 2006 March 11, 06:44:49
I had that problem today, I removed the teen woo hoo mod and it worked like a charm.  Sucks no having the mod but at least it's all normal again.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnant in Uni on: 2006 January 12, 22:12:00
Oh man!  It's not too late, I saved that game in a back up, I never thought of teleporting, have never tried it before!  Dang.  I've played too long with other families to put it back, but it's a lesson learned!  Thank you!  If it happens again I wil definately do that.  It was kind of fun having the nanny come to babysit while the parents were in class.  I'll go check for Jens update, not even sure if that's hack I have.  I'd sure like to actually graduate a sim from uni, never have before.  Like I said, the mother graduated, had her party then vamoosed leaving her family.  Not in the plans I had for her I'm afraid but I just couldn't stand to see them with those memories and not those children!  LOL  Softy that I am.  Thanks again for your information.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnant in Uni on: 2006 January 12, 20:14:17
That's what I was hoping for but something went wonky.  She went for a very long time not showing or progressing in the pregnancy, until I moved them.  Shame, but the game was crashing after a few minutes in that house.  Might have been something there but I removed a lot of custom content to no avail.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnant in Uni on: 2006 January 12, 19:54:26
hmmm, I just found it weird!  Thanks for you input.  I have the teen whoo hoo mod and a few others, it just was funny that she didn't start to show until I moved them out of their original house.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pregnant in Uni on: 2006 January 12, 19:21:54
I figured another way around this but I'm curious as to if anyone has ever tried this.  I had a couple get engaged and move in together in uni.  She became pregnant, my dma teleport cheat said she was carrying twins, but the hours of pregnancy never did move.  I played them for a few days then decided I wanted them to get married.  Not happening in uni, okay, no biggy.  Then the game started to crash whenever I went to their house.  I moved them into another house, not a problem, all of a sudden she started to show her pregnancy and the hours are counting.  I go into simpe to set her hours until final exam, his too.  They would write their finals, and then they would be starting sr. term again!  Weird.  She gives birth to these babies, graduates, and heads back to the hood, leaving her man and her kids.  I get him to drop out, he heads back to the hood, leaving the babies in a house all alone, even the nanny took off.  So now I click on this house and there are two babies there, no adults.  I could not figure a way to get these babies over to the normal neighborhood with their parents. I just found it strange that they would even be able to give birth in uni, never mind not be able to take the children with them when they head for home. They had the memories of the children being born.

Anyway, I got frustrated and replaced the game with a back up of before they had the children.  Had them drop out, now they have their twins, and are a pair of losers!  lol  Just looking for a few comments here.  Thanks.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just a little weird on: 2005 December 19, 16:27:59
Well thank you!  I've found with this family it's always the teenage boys that have this face on their chest.  They haven't got any girls as of yet.  I'll live with it, but I'm real curious to see if their childrens children etc. are going to end up with this funny looking chest too!  Thank you for your help on it.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just a little weird on: 2005 December 12, 19:55:45
Exactly!  That's what it looks like!  I used custom skins on the parents, but like I said, the oldest son is normal, no eyes, nose and mouth on his chest.  How would I replace the skin on the boys?  Bodyshop totally confuses me and I've used simPE, but only to change family information, skills, etc.  Haven't ventured too far into it for fear of destroying all my hard work so far.  I have Uni and NL installed.  Didn't have this before I installed NL.  Thanks for the info.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Just a little weird on: 2005 December 12, 16:38:14
I have have a family that has 4 boys.  The parents were made in cas but the children were born in game.  I just noticed that the two middle boys, they are teenagers now, have a face on their chest!  I'll put in a pic later, I'm at work and don't have internet access at home.  I'm just wondering what this could be from and how do I fix it?  The oldest son doesn't have this face on his chest and I'm not too sure about the youngest, I will have to load the game tonite and take a boo.  Anyone ever come across this?  And if so, what did you do to remedy it?  This is one of my main familys that I am trying to get generations of.  Really don't want them to have faces on their chests, kinda looks like two headed monsters.!  Thanks ahead of time.
