751  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Some tweaks for walkbys parade on: 2007 January 02, 04:17:25
Would it be possible to do a version that has walkbys at all hours of the day and night?

Oh yes Smiley
I addeed that to the first post, to keep all together.
If you greet a walkby after 2 am he/she leaves, but as miros said, at least now you know him/her and can be called by phone.
If you like to control the scheduling more, instead, open any one of these hacks with "vers" in name, and modify the BCON I addeed for (Tuning - Walkbys hours):

Alter those numbers according to european 24h time convention (22 = 10 pm).

ETA: Vampire checks remains unaltered, so if the night walkby is a vampire, doesn't leave when greeted.
752  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2007 January 01, 04:09:33
Ok, wrong idea, then. Character deletion seems definitely a task much more complex than I might imagine.
753  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Content problem in Nightlife on: 2006 December 31, 15:26:23
I totally agree: I'm a Mac enthusiast user from the very beginning, and I think that this is maybe one of the best ideas by Apple so far. And I'm not a fan of Intel or Microsoft, at all.
I'm using Win, now, on a sort of pc: it's probably not the best solution, but somehow it works: on that pc I keep only SimPE, Clean Installer and Milkshape, all my stuff and data are on the Mac, all my files and network connections are managed by the Mac, and the result is great.
If only I was a bit less n00b user on Win, I may claim to be in Heaven  Cheesy.
754  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Content problem in Nightlife on: 2006 December 31, 08:41:49
I'm beginning to think that it just sucks to be me.

No way!  Wink
There must be a solution.

I wonder if this may be the problem: in globalProps.xml (Nightlife folder) there is also:

   <AnyBoolean key="disableCustomObjects" type="0xcba908e1">true</AnyBoolean>

and in my userProps.xml is

   <AnyBoolean key="disableCustomObjects" type="0xcba908e1">false</AnyBoolean>

instead.

Maybe...?
755  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2006 December 31, 07:00:12
Good idea; maybe through a LUA script?

I'm assuming that you chose to retain SDSC from deletion because of the need to identify N00x_Character file from that. If my assumption is correct, then should be possible to pass that data somehow with some script, maybe dumped on a file, like error outputs?
756  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gender-reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 31, 06:23:43

Now I'm going to look for Sandy Bruty to see how hideous she is as a man!

As a man, she's beyond hideous! *shudder*
*nods*

Worst of the worst is Carmen Patch the exterminator, to me. I couldn't believe she would be even worse as a guy  Lips sealed

Found a pict with Ben Long (to the left):
757  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2006 December 31, 02:07:30
intresting tut..
but i've about 50 sims to delete this will be tooo looooooong  Undecided
Good luck! I deleted 100+ sims with this method... I fully understand your worry  Cheesy
758  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gender-reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 31, 01:43:51
Kewian, it's very weird  Undecided. It's supposed to work as is, you shouldn't do anything else than put N020 folder in Neighborhood folder  and fire up the game: in neighborhood chooser you should see a "Pleasantview" hood with the usual collage picture. It should be also the last hood in the row, being numbered 20.
Unless you have more than 20 hoods already (THIS should be weird Cheesy) I can't figure out what kind of conflict or else it may have.

Have you tried keeping N020 folder only in Neigborhood folder? Just to see if neighborhood browser recognize it in this case or it's completely empty.
759  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Content problem in Nightlife on: 2006 December 30, 13:31:05
Yeah! Jordi, good idea! Now I remember I did that too.

Desmel, check also in those folders, those in which the game is installed, not Documents/etc.
There, the file is globalProps.xml, not userProps.xml, but settings are the same.
Should be enough in last installed EP folder, but I did it in every single globalProps.xml, just in case  Grin.

The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/Nightlife/TSData/Res/Config/globalProps.xml

and just for sake:
The Sims 2/TSData/Res/Config/globalProps.xml
The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/University/TSData/Res/Config/globalProps.xml
760  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: townies interest didn't change even after SimPE on: 2006 December 30, 13:16:58
Don't touch those families, as Jordie said; they're not "normal" families, playables.
The resetting thing is weird, are you sure that there's no hack conflict involved? Try disabling custom content or, better, moving your Download folder out.
761  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: townies interest didn't change even after SimPE on: 2006 December 29, 21:00:14
It's weird, I have no idea why it happens  Tongue. Anyway, try this: while in game enable good ol' testing cheats, then select a townie, open its interests and manually drag the bar clicking with mouse.
762  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Some tweaks for walkbys parade on: 2006 December 29, 20:38:21
Question though: what is this "sim known"? Does the game normally favour walkbys of known Sims?

Not sure; I tried to follow all the tree, check after check, but it involves too many things I don't understand and eventually I gave up and simply bypass that check as is, and see in game what happens.

For sure, there are checks about presence of children in the lot, STR level (which I bypassed), work hours, intersected with others, even more complex.. that's why I gave up  Cheesy.

EDIT TO ADD: Noticed that with this hack children may walk by even after 6 p.m., because there's no ifchecks on this part (Maxis default schedules latest walkby at 6 p.m. regardless of age). It's a bit pointless, because if you greet a post-6pm child, he leaves immediately; I don't feel the need to add a check for, because my gluttony for walkbys is satisfied anyway, but if anybody wants to, please do Smiley.
763  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Younger-Maker on: 2006 December 29, 12:24:14
Almost sure me too, I bought NL essentially because it allowed all the tweaks and mods I needed.
Sad, but I didn't found out any other way to do.
764  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Some tweaks for walkbys parade on: 2006 December 29, 12:05:06
My first attempt at hack with no assistance (ok, panic! Cheesy)
It seems to work, but I have no Pets, so I have no idea if something is changed.
If anybody wants to take a look and see if I made a mess or not, any comment or insult will be equally appreciated.
--------------------------------
The normal (Maxis) way is 4 walkbys/day, at 10, 14, 16, 18 o'clock, plus some other checks about neighborhood type, presence of children, friends, and so on.

Now, I wanted more and more walkbys/day, random with no known/unknown modificators.

This hack changes the walkbys parade's timing from a fixed-hours-base to a range-base.
I addeed a BCON with this new values, so the original one - which contains many others - remains identical. Addeed also labels, both for this new BCON and for original one, for better understanding of values.

* marhis-walkbys-nocheckonknown.package is what I use: walkbys every hour, from 9 to 22, plus "sim known" check disabled.

Alternate versions:
  • marhis-walkbys-vers1.package is walkbys every hour, from 9 to 22, only.
  • marhis-walkbys-vers2.package is walkbys every hour, from 10 to 18 (Maxis range).
  • marhis-walkbys-vers3.package is walkbys every hour, from 14 to 21 (afternoon only).
  • marhis-walkbys-none.package for hermits: no walkbys at all, nope, never, let me alone.

It's very easy, in any case, to change range values in SimPE, if preferred.

Use only one of these at once.

ETA: attaching zips is a good idea.

ETA2: addeed a walkbys-always hack : walkbys every hour 24/7, non stop
765  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Content problem in Nightlife on: 2006 December 29, 03:09:43
I can maybe help: I have a non intel Mac too, and have had the same problem (official unresolved bug).

So far, the only way I found out to workaround is:

- Go to /Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Config
- Open userProps.xml with TextEdit or other text editor (NOT Word or such)
- One of the first lines is:
  <AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">false</AnyBoolean>

change it to:

  <AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">true</AnyBoolean>

- Save (txt, not rtf), close, launch the game.
- STFU Aspyr (optional)
766  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 20, 16:27:43
Yes, I used ftp and checked binary mode. Tried to redownload and dearchive and it worked, so it has to be something on my windows setting, I guess, because it seems that I'm the only one able to open those archives.
767  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: More hidden music in Pets on: 2006 December 20, 15:53:23
Thanks, I didn't know of this Smiley.

Orikes, don't worry: when you extract the songs, you have to name them in the usual dialog window for saving files, so unless you'll name them exactly the same, no overwriting.
768  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 20, 15:49:30
Good point; I've noticed that usually married couples have gender preferences setted (and in this case inverted, true, I didn't thought of it) but the others don't, even if they have some crush or else here and there. But I may be wrong: I didn't pay too much attention, because I usually set it on the fly, or with ACR.

Archives: definitely I have to be something broken on my Windows itself. If somebody wants to try, I substituted old 7z with one archived with the corresponding Mac utility, instead of Win one. It's a bit larger (26 Mb rather than 22).
For the old rar and 7z, I don't have a clue: I tried dearchiving againg with winrar and no errors shown, plus an integrity check made on 7z seems ok. So, maybe the culprit is something deeper in my Win XP itself.
769  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 19, 14:54:07
Darn, really. I'm not a windows user, so maybe I make some mistake somewhere in winrar. I'm trying 7-zip now, thanks for the input.

P.S. You may find in zip archive some weird files, like .DS_Store, or ._MAC_OS_X_something: don't worry, they're useless an may be safely deleted or else. They're some invisible files Mac system use to cache and display folder contents; I'm trying to tune my system to zip without including these stupid files, but sometimes still happens.

ETA: substituted rar with 7-zip. Wow, it shrinks like a charm.
770  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: little jump bug - log attached on: 2006 December 19, 12:27:55
I find extremely useful to put all the Downloads content in subfolders; if you didn't sort them, put all your stuff in a subfolder anyway. In this way, when the installer put the crap in Downloads folder you can immediately spot them, 'cause they are the only files not subfoldered. Put them in another subfolder labeled "crap" or whatever, and you're ready for another installation.
Usually, I found out also that that crap is 99% deletable without even notice their loss.

On Macintosh you may also label all the files with colors (useful if you don't have NL, and you can't subfolder bodyshop stuff), so all the newly installed stuff is uncolored and easy to spot and sort.
771  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 19, 02:47:45
The main rar does not work for me.
Darn. Re-rarred and re-upped, maybe it went corrupted the first time. Addeed a zip version, larger but just in case.

Bushwah. I've made all those before and they work fine.  Tongue
I was not sure about, for the reasons yet expressed by Pescado, but if you say it worked, I might give it a try. Or leave the gender unchanged and operate the surgery... creepy but funny- Tongue

UPDATED 2009-04-03

Weirder than Strangetown, all the Pleasantview inhabitants changed sex: Don Lothario is a gorgeous sexy girl, now, Brandi Broke an handsome guy, and so on.

Fixed and improved version.

Full Pleasantview neighborhood (N001). I stripped away only the .reia file (the flyby movie), to shrink better the archive. This hood is the original unloaded one you may find in the game folder (TSData/Res/UserData/Neighborhoods/), only edited in SimPE. It's ok even for base game only, no EP. Plus, in this way all the townies are yet unemployed, and they will pick random job and skills only when loaded by the game the first time.
I didn't renumber the neighborhood because of possible issues with cloned hoods, according to Pes' warning.

Converted characters: all the playables, all the townies, all NPCs except:
- Unique (Grim Reaper, Therapist, Hula Zombie, Pollination Tech, NPC car)
- Social Bunnies (that would be pointless)
- Nannies, Headmasters and Repo Men are converted as well. New NPCs of these types will spawn in the usual gender anyway.

All characters wear Maxis base game clothes, makeup and hair, now.
Not changed: names, for recognizability (you may rename them easily with boolprop cheat, or many hacks, according to your taste).
Added updated portrait thumbnails.

Fixed:
- Gender preferences, made consistent.
- Dummy characters removed, memories fixed for story consistency, actual dead characters relinked.
- Dangling SWAFs and Relationships cleaned up.

Known unsolved issues:
- Female romance sims walk sexy like romance males do.
- Thumbnails have often a black background (fixable with thumbnail refresh).

Link to download:
    Weivtnasaelp 7-zip (27.6 Mb).
    Weivtnasaelp .rar (41.1 Mb).

As the hard work was done yet, somebody may find useful to have original and reversed saved sims, for various reasons, so I put them online too:
- Original whole population (20 Mb)
- Original NPC only (8 Mb)
- Original playables only (4.5 Mb)
- Original townies only (7 Mb)
- Reversed whole population (21 Mb)
- Reversed NPC only (8.7 Mb)
- Reversed playables only (5 Mb)
- Reversed townies only (7.7 Mb)
- All the sims in updated version (11 Mb)

Package files are named after the character, so it's easy to pick right ones.

Many thanks to Theo: his Alternative SimSurgery plugin for SimPE was essential for this project.
Many thanks to all you who played the old version and pointed me in the right direction.

Screenshots are great  Grin, I'm really glad to have somehow contributed to fun.
And, Dizzy... good idea, I think I'll do it as soon as I finish to fix actual pleasantview.

BTW, I'm fixing the flaws, right now (i.e. sims wearing maxis-only stuff, etc.); do you think it would be proper to put it in Peasantry? Not the zip itself, of course - it's huge, but a post with link to it and description. I don't know if there has to be some sort of approval, or else.
775  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: side-effect of pets on: 2006 December 14, 02:24:48
Darn! Cheesy
I asked because in that greek house happens exactly the same.
Anyway, since the base game I ended up placing something on every damn free eligible surface in every house. This is the only way I found out to force sims to drop bills and crap on lawn near sidewalk. :/
