I had lightning strike a visitor in the hot tub during a storm... that was fun. Though I think I need to make sure nopuddlerage is in there again because the house owner now is furious for the lightning strike victim for wetting herself after she got out of the tub Tongue
77  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd fear? on: 2007 February 20, 22:24:58
I've never even gotten that one before with teenagers... maybe it's because I cut the teenager lifespan in half, though they sure can start rolling up the want to go to college when they're twelve days old! *sigh* A lot more of them won't be going to college when I'm synched and the Neighborhood Day 80 Apocalypse hits, so I'll have to see if they start rolling it up when it's more common for teenagers not to go to college in my game than it is now...
78  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Serving Platter Madness on: 2007 February 20, 22:20:41
I hate the Walk Away that always always happens when the whole horde of guests and family members comes swooping down to the table like vultures when they sense food is available now. Everyone sits down and someone just can't wait for the server to go past and so the server gives up and drops the plate on the ground and walks away and I have to pause and drop it on the counter where it should have been to begin with and argh argh argh-

Yeah, I sense I'm not alone in this Tongue
79  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 13, 15:35:14
Hmm, well, if you can't stand the suspense you could always grow them up to see what they'd be like? I've generally had them go from squooshed and ugly to not too bad, though...

As for that scalp problem, I've had that waaaay back since Uni at least. In my case, it came from binning certain hairstyles - I believe the really old ones, because the textures I recognized replacing the Sim's scalp came from hair that was made just by alpha edits of Maxis meshes, before there were new meshes available at all. At that time I used Datgen and then I just started binning by hand. It affected my custom skins at first, but now I am still getting that scalp problem with Maxis skins, so I have to wonder if it's the binning issue again, as I've binned everything and my downloading vice is hairstyles Tongue I can't tell which hair texture is causing it like I could with the other one, though (it had a big flower painted on the hair, so that gave it away right there). I'd definitely like to know what the real deal is with that stupid issue, though!
80  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't get sick on: 2007 February 07, 20:37:18
Ok this is bull shit. My sims can't get sick. I've had this guy walking around filth for days and nothing. Eating out of trash cans nothing. once he ate spoiled pizza and got food poisoning for like 3 hours. He was in aspiration failure and still it didn't last. UGH I want ILLNESS and death. I check my hacks and mods i couldn't see anything that should be preventing illness but it just doesn't seem to happen anymore.
Anyone got any ideas.

The food poisoning wouldn't be transmittable, unfortunately, so no point giving him that if you want to spread it... *hmm, I haven't had food poisoning since I have had noeatcrap in, heh* I've had regular flu spread like mad though just by having one family get it and then not paying attention to visitors and not keeping the sick ones isolated. If a Sim gets a sickness as a visitor and you don't play them for a while, they can get the required low motives enough to drop dead fairly easily, though it's not a given. I've had two Sims die of disease as visitors at other houses, one pled back successfully and the other not. Another one died as soon as I got back to his house, but he was pled back as well. Mostly anymore, though, I'm sick of the disease so I nuke it with hacks as soon as it appears. Maybe I'll let it rage again next time to add uncertainty to the whole deal Tongue
81  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets patch released on: 2007 February 07, 20:14:59
I've been having the odd eyebrow and hair thing going on some of my NPCs, too. Since I don't ever breed my playables with them the DNA doesn't matter, so whenever I catch one I use the Insim temporal adjuster to do a makeover on them and match the hair and brows again, whatever color I feel like or remember, and send them on their way Tongue

I've had some ugly toddlers fill out surprisingly nicely as teenagers/adults... some a bit less so, but that's due to extreme features on their parents' part. And sometimes that's just part of using the sim rerandomizer, I've found - one sibling will get a good mix of features and the other not so much. Better than clones, anyway. I've started breeding for the orc nose strain I accidentally got on one of my Sims now, just for some fun and variety. (Well, they DO live in a little rundown shack in the woods... it seems fairly X-Files, with appropriate story added Tongue)

82  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet Food coming out of toddler on: 2007 February 05, 21:17:46
I have the caged pet fixes, and I immediately got the spewing parrot food after installing Pets and playing it for the first time with the first bird. It'll spray out of the Sim's hand when they make quick movements like when dancing, eating, or putting up the toilet lid. This is post-patch... now I wish I hadn't waited for it, if it just breaks things more like people are saying. *sigh*
83  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many sims? on: 2007 January 30, 10:42:32
I have almost 200 playables in a hood starting from the base game, with all townies and dormies removed. I'd love to see a graphical family tree thing as well! I'm having some Sims falling for their great-nieces and are having to make sure to edit the longer-lived ones to recognize great-grandchildren as relatives so they won't ACR Tongue I can still remember most of them but it would definitely help to have a graphic (the family tree software I found didn't work too well with the constant intermarrying of families in such a small "town").
84  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any logical way to get your neighborhood back in sync? on: 2007 January 16, 03:46:58
No problem! ^_^ Hmm, I know SimPe can show a graphical view of family ties... I've also been using the Pegasys Sim database, but you pretty much have to put that stuff in yourself, though you can import the data from SimPe too. I used it before the synching deal and now I've put everyone's birthdays and death days in there too. http://www.sims2db.com/ is where you can download it... hope it helps!
85  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Any logical way to get your neighborhood back in sync? on: 2007 January 16, 03:31:59
I recently just synched up my neighborhood, and it was a lot of work, but I'm glad I did it. It's the only 'hood I've played since the base game first came out, so it was very out of synch. This is how I did it:

I always age my Sims when I get the notification, so I figured two days for infant, three for toddler, seven for child. My pre-Uni Sims had fourteen for teenager and my post-Uni Sims have seven days. I know they jump to "26" days after college no matter when they started, but the adult stage is often not the normal 28 days for all of them in my game so I just work around all that Tongue

I started with my founding families; I think there were about fourteen of them. I made a timeline in Notepad which pretty much started with Day 0/1 because all my founding families were various parents and toddlers. At the time I synched the 'hood, these toddlers were elders approaching death, so I was able to see how old they were currently, using their birthdays established at Day -2.

Then came the fun part, figuring out the birthdays for all the other siblings that had arrived, and their kids, etc. Basically I used the memories where possible and my memory for the rest to figure out how old a kid was when the sibling arrived. It's easiest to start with Sims that have never moved from their birth home; the others may have lost or gained days by moving to a house played more often or less often. I also figured out or estimated death days and marriage days as best as possible. Basically, it works best to start with the ones that have never moved and then figure out where the others who have moved from that house -should- be, no matter if you've played one or the other more often.

Twins are helpful too, especially if you have one that never moved away, since the other one should match them and thus you have a place to start.

So eventually the timeline looked like this:

Day 54   Claire died (80)
   Joaquin resurrected
   Charissa born
   Miriel born

Day 55   Calliope born
   Oneva born

Day 56   Shar died (82)
   Lake died (12)

Day 57   Aden born
   Ashe born
   Iain and Rexa born
   Gariel and Sakura Jade married

So once I established what day each household was currently on, I could set the synch timer to that day and then work to synch them up. Still doing that part - my favorite house got way ahead, so now I'm trying to get everyone to match them on Day 79 before playing more evenly from then on.

Anyway, hope that helps at all! ^_^

Wow, that really is a devil dog!  Shocked
87  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Just something I've always wondered about the fingerprint scanner... on: 2007 January 06, 01:47:28
In my experience it'll just sometimes be any random Sim in the neighborhood or sub-hood - mostly it'll be someone who's been in the house, but often it's a long-dead founder Sim or it's a professor from Uni. So, yeah, probably completely random.
88  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Incest. A game for all the family. on: 2006 December 24, 03:21:17
I have an interesting incest thing going on in my neigbourhood.  I have a sim who I breed into the family about every 4 generations or so.  Great grandparents don't count as family, so he repeatedly impregnates his great grand daughters.  In addition to the fact that he was a great uncle or something to start with.
I'm not sure why I do this, other than; because I can.

I've been doing pretty much the same thing with my vampire overlord dude. The kids are so far some of my prettiest Sims, as I imagine unlike in real life the "DNA" just gets closer to his and doesn't become all defective. Though it would be fun if it did Tongue My fugly Sims are the result of not noticing a CAS adult had a flattened nose before breeding him, which ended up with orc noses Tongue
89  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Antivirus Programs on: 2006 December 21, 16:43:06
I've been using AVG Free from Grisoft after it was recommended on an antispam newsgroup and I haven't had any problems with it so far. Plus it's free, which is always nice Tongue
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: An old gripe about flower beds on: 2006 December 19, 22:54:35
I don't suppose anyone's come up with a hack that allows you to replant dead flowers instead of having to rebuy them when they die? I always liked that in the Sims 1 since I didn't have to try to remember which kind of plant was there or use the eyedropper or something before getting rid of the old one...
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wants & Fears problem. on: 2006 December 19, 22:46:25
If it's possible, it would indeed be awesome. I finally got my neighborhood nearly synched up (can't believe I figured out the birthdays of 150 Sims) and once they hit Day 80 it'll be Family Feud time, with enemies abounding, and I would much rather have them wanting to fight their enemies rather than see their ghosts, or drink them, which I'm not likely to ever grant them Tongue Heck, no one even HAS a cowplant...
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wants & Fears problem. on: 2006 December 19, 00:23:16
Ahh, so the stupid Win Fight want isn't going to show up anymore even for the Popularity Sims? It's one of the Wants that shows up in CAS as a high-scoring want for those guys, and yet it never rolls up? Bah! It's to the point where if I ever see an unusual Want anymore I treasure it Tongue
93  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something about dining out on: 2006 December 15, 00:33:09
jsalemi,

What a great tip! I never though to do this.

I hate that they "serve' the food. If you cancel the action they put the damn plate on the floor & if you cancel before they 'serve' they plop it on the counter but the "grab a plate" option does not appear. I know this was different in the base game - I wish they hadn;t changed it.

I am going to try your fix right now Smiley

I always get annoyed by the swarm of hungry Sims sitting down to the table while the cook is putting down the plates, which forces them to Walk Away and put the plate on the floor - grr! So if I can prevent that, my houses are going to experience a sudden deluge of napkin dispensers and candles Tongue
94  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Satisfying baby want on: 2006 December 11, 17:16:14
Heh, in one of the cases where a Romance Sim had a kid, some odd DNA glitch made it look muuuch more like the Romance Sim's husband's instead of the actual father (an S3 skin that wasn't in the DNA anywhere instead of the father's extra pale custom skin or the mother's custom gray skin), so I actually went and adjusted the family ties so that he was "officially" the husband's kid. Of course this meant he ended up marrying a genetic half-cousin, but since I also have Sims with unaltered family ties having three bolts for their grand-nieces, oh well  Cheesy
95  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2006 December 07, 04:03:41
Okay, so the Sim's self should definitely be taken out of the Known Sims section, then, even if they're not displaying the problems? I started on that, but I didn't want to continue if the "relationship" was just going to keep returning.
96  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2006 December 06, 16:45:51
As mentioned in the ACR thread, I've had some Sims with enough relationship with themselves to roll up wants to dance with themselves, etc, and you said this was bad. I removed the Sims' selves from their known Sims in Simpe, but I noticed that even Sims I haven't played, who supposedly haven't been affected by ACR, also have themselves in their Known Sims category (though it doesn't show what the relationship is). It's hard to tell what's a normal "known self" and what is the kind that throws up those stupid wants. Would it be possible for the Lot Debugger to nuke the self relationships?
97  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: no instant love more like no love EVER! on: 2006 December 05, 18:19:59
It hasn't seemed to be working for me lately, though maybe it's just this one Sim. She's been possessed by the ACR and does any Sim that moves and has at least two bolts with her (half the neighborhood) but even with this hack in, she pretty much falls in love with all of them, and they with her, no matter if she has a high LTR with them or not (by the time they're in bed it's always a high STR). And she's a fortune Sim so all these loves don't even fill wants! Tongue
98  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Request: More autonomous arguing! on: 2006 November 29, 21:39:38
Heh...I'd love it if they'd even gripe and argue about whose turn it was to do dishes or clean the toilet, instead of everyone jumping up to wash one bloody plate at the same sink...even those with only two or three points in neat. And that, even more than the nice-mean scale, strikes me as a good start point for petty, or at least not seriously destructive, bickering.

Something like the puddle rage, except done right? Tongue I've had the fix in, but I've recently had a neat kid be furious with an elder he just met, and the only thing I can think of that caused it was her staying too long at the chessboard and wetting herself. Yet I could swear I had those fixes in, argh. So, yeah. The current state of that sort of thing is obviously not good enough...
99  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: something to do with invited friend... on: 2006 November 28, 23:03:01
I had a Sim couple get divorced, and the ex-wife (who got caught cheating) did that exact thing, come over uninvited every day and just hang out forever. Pretty sure she's both very grouchy and very outgoing. Now that all her kids are adults and have moved out, and her ex is remarried, it's starting to get a bit ridiculous, though.
100  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Jealousy with Romance mod on: 2006 November 27, 23:14:20
As far as I know, this is what the romance does, including support for three-person relationships (alas, the game doesn't allow a poly-marriage, though, but they'll live happily without jealousy if they're all in love with each other). Otherwise, the romance mod generally nixes the jealousy from Romance sims, unless they have the right personality to be hypocritical, and also nixes jealousy unless the Sim being cheated on is in a committed (married/engaged/steady) relationship. It also takes Sim personality into account.
