Phew, thanks, glad to know I was not the only one. Yes, I'm a Mac user, maybe this bug is by Aspyr and not by Maxis, for once . And no, miros, it can't be due to a hack, because I've experienced it in a completely new installation, new user account, new install, no custom content of any kind. No errors, btw. I found - perhaps - the culprit in a BHAV of resurrect-o-nomitron; it should be the "sub - patch all relationships". In my game it calls a lua script; now I've made a mod which bypasses that BHAV, and see what happens (I'll test with liegenshonheit's self sim, who had an incident with a cowplant ).

This is driving me insane.
At first, I thought it was an hack conflict or something, but after some days passed trying everything, in the end I reinstalled the game in a new user account, to have the cleanest environment possible. Nothing else addeed.
In short: after OfB, whenever I resurrect someone with o-nomitron, the resurrected one has every flag setted with any sim in neighborhood, i.e. he/she is friend, best friend, has a crush on, is in love with, going steady, engaged and married with everybody.
This doesn't seems an issue solved by patches, either, and I didn't heared it mentioned before by anyone.
I'm starting to think that it must be a special issue of my own copy of OfB, the only one in the world; ideas anyone?

Well, the "see the ghost" want is because robbed family members are all deeply furious toward the thief. And - sadly - the fury versus thieves seems to be also the most slow to get rid of. I've had a sim who's home was robbed when he was a child; teen, uni, and back home as adult, and still rabid versus the thief . The best of the best is that when finally that rage wear off, all family members will have a 100/100 relationship with the thief. Suggestion: use some hack (Squinge maybe, has one, try there) and get rid of it as soon as possible. Elder try for baby. I'm wondering if it is a sort of bug. I've had the same issue in Oldies couple when reverted their gender, and thought that it was somehow related, but now that you've witnessed that in this different context, I wonder if it is an issue related to some reset the sims have. I don't know for sure, I've never played a CAS elder couple before.

A side-update; I'm refining some details in this project: addeeded custom pics for old Pleasantview Weivtnasaelp story correction. No need to redownload the neighborhood, just the pics - if you want custom ones; N020_neighborhood.png is the "title" pic, and may overwrite the old one, so you'll see the custom, instead, in neighborhood browser. The others are in <path to documents folder>/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods/N020/Storytelling/. If you didn't deleted the preinstalled ones, just copy and paste the corresponding pics over the elders ones in any graphic program. If you have new stories already, use them if you wish for whatever use you want.

If your married (with crush&love flags setted) sim flirts autonomously with others, then it's because he has other crushes, or the other sims have. Clear those extra flags, and the sim will never flirts automously with anybody else than his wife (unless of course you use ACR).

Looking a bit in the code, it seems that the cowplant has a small percentage of failure, i.e. refuses to eat the sim. This percentage is hightly raised if the victim has an hygiene score too low. In these cases, the cowplant just sniffs them and reacts disgusted: it's funny! I may suggest a shower room before entering the parlor, like in swimming pools.

Upgrade: I've checked some other hacks - by other modders - and I've seen that putting a modded pie menu in them is widely used anyway, and it doesn't seems to be a Bad Thing™.
In the end, I've upped my version, on MTS2. After all, it seems to work well anyway. If it needs improving, I may always revise it later.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Damned espresso maker and its obsession
|
on: 2007 January 13, 22:44:31

I've made a hack for coffee and espresso makers, which enables their use on tables and end tables (now it's only on counters). The hack itself works, but it has a conflict with noautonomousespresso by Squinge (i.e. the the espresso obsession happens). So, I've managed to add a no autonomy to my hack, incorporating a pie menu resource with autonomy setting to 0x0064, and it works. Well, the hack itself is working, but I'm a pest perfectionist . I tried to apply the Squinge modification on my hack, but it give me an error, and honestly I don't understand why, 'cause the mods I did seems unrelated. For some reasons, I'm not sure that my solution (adding a modified pie menu to the package) is the best choice, and Squinge mod seems a better solution to me (heh, at least is "cleaner" and linear). May anyone, with better knowledge base than mine, take a look at my crap and tell me where I made the mistake? It's driving me insane. marhis_espresso_multiplace_noauto.zip is my working hack, with pie menu; marhis_espresso_multiplace_noauto-squinge.zip is my hack with squinge modification tried, and the error happens when mouse over the espresso maker. The sim you packaged with SimPE Surgery (the .package file) does not contain custom files (i.e. hair meshes, recolors, clothes, etc.), but contains the references to those files you have in your download folder.
This means that if you select that sim in BodyShop, you'll see it identical to your customized creation in CAS. Now, if you package the sim in BodyShop, the Sims2Pack resulting will contain a copy of your sim .package and a copy of every custom content file you used for.

Once I've taken a look briefly, on possibility to set personal logs, but eventually I gave up when I saw my standard conf log (under Mac OS X 10.4.8 ) reports OS version: Windows NT 5.1 I don't trust them too much .

|

In TS2 base game for Mac there was a glitch about file limits, but base game patch resolved; if it's your case (i.e. if you have a base game unpatched), download the patch from Aspyr: http://www.aspyr.com/product/news/6/31. If you want to raise even more the file limit, you have to edit some system configuration files, and it's not recommended, unless you know exactly what you are doing, aka edit kernel configuration files in unix. More likely, as miros said, you have some files corrupted, and this should explain frequent crashes. Try to identify them, focusing on what circumstances exactly the game crash.

Winrar to unzip if you are on Windows, The Unarchiver if you're on Mac. The funny files are some cache files the Mac OS use to display folders content, and which sometimes went archived with the rest. In Mac they're invisible, but in Windows will show like .DS_Store and ._MAC_OS_X_something. You can delete them if you wish, but even if you don't, they're totally harmless, both in Mac and Win, don't worry .

Wow. This... made my day to say the least. Now I see a file up above somewhere, or maybe a link, or maybe it's not even above but in the other thread in Peasantry, I can't recall... anyway, I somewhere noticed a file for townies only/playables only etc. Would the townies only file bring the gender reversed townies to all of my custom neighborhoods, or just Pleasantview? I get sick to death of the same old Pleasantview townies in every neighborhood I play, and have tried making my own or letting the game generate random ones, but this would be the best solution EVER!
Well, the single townies files are only sims file like those you create with Body Shop; you may use them to apply their phisical appereance to sims in SimPE surgery. If those files are in Downloads or SavedSims folder you'll see them in sim bin in CAS or BodyShop. You can use the whole hood, though, even for new standard townie generation. You need to rename the folder N020 -> N001 (as of the original Pleasantview) and batch-rename all the files inside from N020_ prefix to N001_ etc. Then move temporarily the original Pleasantview template (N001 folder) located in Programs/EA Games/The Sims 2/TSData/Res/UserData/Neighborhoods/ on desktop, or some other safe place, and put your gender-reversed renamed one in its place. Next neighborhood you'll create will be populated by that gender-reversed townie/NPC by default. P.S. You are right, posts and files are a bit messed up here and in Peasantry; I'll edit my posts here to clarify a bit.

... if I download the reversed one do i have to download the original one again? Because I want both.
Go ahead, no problem: it's a completely indipendent neighborhood; when you unzip it, you'll see a folder named "N020", so unless you created 20 neighborhoods already, there's no way to overwrite.
