676  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Wish List for a Sims File Utility on: 2007 March 15, 20:00:07
@jenni: When you open the file, choose to install in a different folder than default, with extension .package: in this way, in that folder you'll have all the packages extracted.
677  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a mod for hiding the Maxis bedsheets from the base game? on: 2007 March 15, 19:52:18
I don't know if it is possible, but I agree they are too many and too ugly. This seems a job for *drumroll* Jordi!  Smiley
678  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No autonomous computer games on: 2007 March 14, 19:26:56
No, it doesn't; that's also why my sims never have a TV or game console in their homes  Wink. A quick way to fix that annoyance, if you want, is to set the "play" to 0x0064 (non autonomous) in pie menu resource.

680  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: dog half-buried and unable to interact after play with water wiggler on: 2007 March 13, 01:59:04
Deleting a dog (or any other sim) in game is perfectly safe, and the best thing to do if they got stuck somewhere; they always came back, because that delete simply resets them, nothing more. To physically delete a sim from the game is a way more complex issue.

Anyway your problem seemed to be the fact that it was half-buried and somehow not working as intended. After deletion, does it reappeared normal, or in the same odd appereance/behavior?

682  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Tippingfix mod: the tipjar vanishes in thin air on: 2007 March 12, 19:21:53
I've made a mod on MTS2 which make tip jar vanish, instead of all the boring and endless animations to follow. As because it's made modding a resource (CT - End) already included and modded in Pescado's tippingfix, these two are incompatible each other.

But, I'm a fond user of tippingfix, so I modded a personal version of that, which includes my mod also. I usually keep my stuff on MTS2 for organization purposes, but in this case I think that this forum is more appropriated, as because it's a modded mod by the owner.

I was assuming that Pescado doesn't mind if I mod his stuff; if there's any problem with this, of course feel free to remove/insult/whatever  Grin.

683  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bathroom envy on: 2007 March 12, 06:54:15
Dont' know if it can help, but I noticed another detail.
Sometimes, a sim heads to the bathroom (wc icon shown) while it's already occupied. In some cases, the sim will not attempt to search for another available bathroom, as it usually does, but will remain instead right in front of the door continuously trying to launch the toilet interaction "use". In that case, no thought bubbles at all.

But as soon as I click on another bathroom to send the sim there, then he pops up that thought bubble, not before.
684  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Wish List for a Sims File Utility on: 2007 March 12, 05:29:20
And possibly with a neighborhood/characters editor, even indipendent by the rest (don't know if it's possible).

And please, please....PLEASE, written in C, C++, java, phyton, basic, pascal, whatever language except C#, so it may be converted on platforms other than Win.
685  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stack object's neighbor ID on: 2007 March 11, 21:36:37
According to what I've seen, the nID seems to be the instance number.

How I did the check: take a married couple, then spawn tombstone of L&D, click on each sim and choose "show parent and sibling relationships": the text message reports the relationship and the nID, and that is corresponding to the instance number.
686  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons objects.package and Seasons EP on: 2007 March 11, 19:48:01
...wow...

I used the first torrent client I was able to find, and didn't bother to even modify default settings: just dowload the file from piratebay and double-click. Now I'm understanding why there's so much discussion about clients and the way they operate.

Meh, I have to be a wannabe pirate forever, just like Guybrush.
687  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons objects.package and Seasons EP on: 2007 March 11, 04:45:56
Thanks everybody! Someone has just sent me that (in)famous huge objects.package: I hopefully will be able to destroy the game update my mods yahoo  Grin.
688  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a safe way to alter age duration? on: 2007 March 10, 19:26:49
Pregnancy is exactly 75 sim-hours, so you can schedule woohoos according to this data.
689  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Pets Patch Round II on: 2007 March 09, 15:53:21
Don't worry, QA departments usually check if the stuff is ISO 9000, like if all related internal memos are written in company official font; well maybe not useless so much, but in any case nothing related to what "quality" in human terms means.
690  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim giggling all the time? What's wrong with him!? on: 2007 March 09, 15:45:04
Seems like an emitter got stuck somehow, maybe forcing an error on objects off world?
691  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Accurate recipes of Juices and Juice bugs! on: 2007 March 09, 11:50:49
Why fresh vegetables can make pork chops better is a mystery I really don't want to know the answer to, lest I become physically ill.

I assume that Sims' environment is hightly radioactive, hence the sparkling in food. Stocking pork chops in the same location means that they became radioactive too.
This may explain also why they die in a very short time (maybe Elixir of Life is a chemio... who knows?  Grin).
692  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons objects.package and Seasons EP on: 2007 March 09, 10:19:17
There's no difference (almost apparently) between package files, BHAV and stuff. Some differences there are (it seems, so far) in the way the game loads and use those packages, but it's all about the executable part, not the resources. So, yes, the objects.package (and Simsxx.package, Skins.package, etc.) from PC versions is exactly the same than in Mac versions - that's why I'm trying to dl that.

No much luck so far, as it seems that the dl time is rasing instead of diminishing - I'm not a good pirate, I suppouse  Sad. So, if anyone may help providing somehow an objects.package from Seasons it would be much appreciated Smiley.

ETA: Maybe should be somehow useful if I explain how Mac version of TS2 is installed and configured:

The game (base) creates a folder
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2
corresponding (in PCs') to
C:\Programs\EA Games\The Sims 2

(Macs uses normal slashes instead of backlslashes to indicate paths, as in all unix systems, but it's only a notation issue).

In this folder you'll have the executable (The Sims 2.app), BodyShop, Package Installer, the readme's, a folder with Body Shop tutorials and the TSData folder. That TSDAta folder contains exactly the same stuff the corresponding TSData folder has in PC installation).

Notice: that "The Sims 2" game folder has an invisible extension ".localized", used by Aspyr installers to identify the correct folder.

The game creates then the usual personal folder with settings etc. in:
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2
exactly corresponding to
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\MyDocuments\Ea Games\The Sims 2

When you install an expansion pack, it updates the executable (you'll have only one exec, in the end) and adds in the game folder (according to the EP you have):

Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/University.localized
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/Nightlife.localized
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/Open for Business.localized

(despite the extension, they're all folders)

Inside any of that EP folders, there's the additional TSData folder for that EP, with all the relative subfolders like Control, Res, Sys, etc.

So, e.g. if I want to make a mod, I open in SimPE
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package

and then check the corresponding
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/University/TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/Nightlife/TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package
Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/The Sims 2/Expansion Packs/Open for Business/TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package

and check if the resources are the same or not, and then make my mod accordingly.
693  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Humor me on: 2007 March 08, 18:36:37
A former coworker used to dismount and then remount his PC once a week, on a regular basis, just to "show him WHO is the master here". It seemed to work, too.
694  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can I fix this? on: 2007 March 07, 17:07:43
It should be possible, yes.

A rather simple way (don't know how exactly works this object though) should be looking at pie menu resource, and alter autonomy settings (from e.g. 64 to 32) and motives.
A well detailed explaination you'll find in help text included with the editor itself (there's a help button in plugin view).

There's a bit of stuff to read, but it's very helpful, and it may worth a try.
695  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Seasons objects.package and Seasons EP on: 2007 March 07, 12:51:26
According to Aspyr schedule, Seasons for Mac will be ported at a later time. But in the meantime, I would like to update some of my mods that seems to need to (ref. diff files posted by Pescado).

Question: if I buy download from torrents the Seasons EP for PC, I will be able to extract in some way an objects.package from that, or I need to have also TS2 base + Seasons and install them all?
In short, it's worth that I wait the 36 hours dowloading the torrent file, or simply give up, 'cause it will be useless anyway?
696  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Snow days and nannies on: 2007 March 06, 20:26:31
Children should can call nannies too, if I remember correctly.
697  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Something won't let my sims go to work on: 2007 March 06, 14:40:24
Someone also pointed me that one of mine on MTS2 (http://www.modthesims2.com/member/showthread.php?t=215847), that's work related, may cause the same problem. I can't, now, test it with Seasons, but I've sent him a link to this other topic: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...pic,7486.0.html also.

Does anyone had the same problem?
698  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Video Card Upgrade on: 2007 March 06, 04:09:47
Thanks! I hope I will find the card and the ram; heh I know it's crap (I payed it 20 €  Grin), anyway luckily I don't have to use it for TS2, only for SimPE, that's why I didn't ask for really "good" PCs  able to run TS2 (I run TS2 on Mac).
699  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Phone problem on: 2007 March 05, 17:51:24
The culprit should be some hack accidentally installed with a lot. Often, if a lot is not properly packaged by the creator, installs also global hacks the creator use, and you'll never know until something strange happens.

That cheat code (which put the game in debug mode), not only is not related for sure, but on the contrary, it may help a lot to track down errors and conflicts, as in case of stealth-installed hacks.
700  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Video Card Upgrade on: 2007 March 05, 10:47:54
I post here, just to avoid a new thread on this topic.

I have to buy a new video card too, and I read all your advices with interest, but maybe I need a much less powerful card.

In short, I have a PC I use for SimPE only - it was built as a server, ages ago, so it doesn't have a great video/3d equipment: a ATI Rage Pro 2X AGP with 8Mb RAM.
I suspect that's because of that, I'm not be able to have previews in SimPE - even with managed directX correctly installed.

So, I would have a new, slightly better, video card, but newbie as I am in PC/Win stuff, I would simply go to the next mall, buy the card (any brand) with the lowest price and hoping it will work on my PC and will give me SimPE previews.

Any advice on what I have to do would be greatly appreciated: my PC specs are AMD Athlon 1.24 GHz (I suspect overclocked to 1.66), 384 Mb RAM (but I will buy more along with the video card), MS Windows XP Pro SP2.
