Another alternative for dancing on toes (that I use myself) is by monique @ MTS2. Sims will do it autonomously anyway, but only if their fun is below 50%.

Bedmaking can be easily stopped with abortbedmaking. Sims will go make beds anyway, but you can cancel the action like most other autonomous actions.

You should see toaster pastry in the breakfast menu, along with cereals (if she has no cooking skills), but in the same menu you should also see pancakes and omelettes, always in the morning.

another solution may be <alert: self-advertising here> the last name chooser at MTS2.
579  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More realistic/difficult relationships? on: 2007 July 26, 11:04:05
is there any sort of hack that makes romantic relationships decay?

Squinge's fall out of love automatically when LTR is below 70 should do.

is anyone aware of a mod that actually works to make homework get dropped on tables/desks?

Not exactly what you're asking for, but this by dizzy should be of some help.

Lol  Cheesy. Actually, it's called "pouncecat"; I didn't realize that it looks scared till now.

ETA: modified with my own cat Wink.

Ruben went to college a few sim days ago but i never actually played Ruben yet.

That's why Smiley.
Ruben will not grow up to young adult until you play him in Uni, so he is still a teen.
583  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Same sex cuddle whilst sleeping on: 2007 July 25, 20:05:11
For what I know about, sims got the "spoon position" when there is at least a crush (pink heart) in their relationship. This may vary if their crush is not on both, and sometimes depends also by the different time they go to bed, in relation to each other.

Example: SimA has a crush on SimB, while SimB has not.
SimA goes to bed a few instants before SimB, so A fall asleep first. In this case, SimB does not have a crush and will not spoon SimA; but if SimB fall asleep first, then SimA will snuggle him.
This usually happens for the most part of times, but consider also that sometimes there are slight difference and the reverse may happen.

I just learned that there's no story so bad that a bunch of random swears and lame "jokes" about eating bodily fluids can't make it worse. I bet this  was written by a 12-year-old boy.

It's the Clean Installer, that adds an unneeded .package extension under certain circumstances; I always delete it, but it's mostly because I'm obsessive-compulsive Tongue, I don't think it will be of any harm.
587  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Need input on designing a new medieval sims career on: 2007 July 21, 23:45:50
I like it!

Maybe the pay rate should be like that of teen/elder careers: it's a sort of minimum wage, quite close to starvation, if it's the only source of income. In my experience, I had a CAS elder with a child, and having them both survive was quite difficult, with the elder income only.

In my actual hood (medieval theme) I don't use custom careers, but pretend they have a compatible medieval job (e.g. a city guard is in low ranks of law enforcement, while a palace guard is in highest ranks, etc.). I keep peasants artificially low in income, to keep their role, but so far it's not necessary: husband + wife + child in a little house (less than 50§ bills) live well with the income of a vice squad husband (the wife doesn't have a job). Probably a top-rank income in your scheme would be that of a cadet, or a security guard.

For the male/female difference in careers: I would prefer a single career both for males and females, but I think I understand your difficulties. Maybe some sort of arrangement in requirements/job descriptions? Sorry I can't be of much help.

Very lazy sims can veg out cookies and stuff from the couch.
590  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Play Style: The Nitty Gritty on: 2007 July 18, 02:58:02
- Definitely more into playing families.

- lots: usually slightly decorated, always cutaway walls: focus on interactions but with some atmosphere around.

- Generations FTW. The genetic aspect as a whole is a very important part of the family story. Recognizing the facial traits of ancestors in their grand-grand-grand-(etc.)-children is one of the features I like the most (and touching, too).

- I've played a single hood only from the very beginning: the infamous Pleasantview. When it went BFBVFS, I discovered MATY, studied the issue, then I managed to reconstruct my borked hood from scratch, with all their traits, stories, etc. Almost all my  sims have Pleasantview ancestors, playable or townie; only a few were addeeded from CAS (and not yet breeded, though).
The actual themed hood I'm playing is the first I create from scratch, and with completely different "rules". I find it a good chance to renew the game, and my "base" hood is now in sleep mode.

- I don't care almost at all of their skills, careers or LTWs. The rare cases I care is usually for story purpouses (like a gold-digger who slept with anyone able to pull strings at work, or the traditional bunch of cop pals: 1 police chief and his closer friend who takes his place when he dies - no flying morons in pantyhose, thankyouverymuch).

- My sims are mostly homebodies, because I hate the neverending lot loads. I play community lots only to have them socialize, I don't care a bit of their wants to bowling or play cards, etc. With OfB I often create "fake" community lots: just start a home business and people will randomly come to hang out.

- Suburban for residentials, and city for downtown, sometimes I mix, in the main hood, in zones.

- do you do themes? Medieval, now. I don't like aliens/cyber/space themes much.

- Pets: sometimes, just to add a feature to the story. No commands/pet jobs, some training to pee outside and not destroy the house, and I'm ok.

- aliens etc. I like them as an occasional weirdness addition, for variety. The zombie is totally boring, though. Not yet tried the werewolf.

- hacks: Insim is a must-have tool for in-game reparations or tweakings useful to the story purpose (like adding engagement flags to have sims marry without being in love, etc., or cleaning up borked love flags with deads and such). No inteen, mostly because it involves only a few features I would like and a ton I don't want, and no flavor pack suits my play style.
I use cheats usually only for special situations, and I like to follow rules I make my own, if I can.
E.g., in my medieval hood I motherloded the Royal family with no limits, but also lowered the Peasants budget to 0.
Other hacks are for handling annoyances, to add something funny to game (ex. ACR), or obscure crappy mods made by me to handle some features I want a special family have.

- custom content: a reasonable quote of hair and clothes, a few custom facial hair, very few makeup stuff (I stick to basics), almost no custom eyebrows (ditto), and eyes and skins I like default replacements only. Just a very few eyes and custom skins to use in special situations.
More stuff in the buy/build mode, but in the end I use mostly the same preferred ones, and it got deleted on regular basis.

- creations: a few mods, quite simple, that I made to handle some annoyances, and came out working enough to be shared with no (or not much) shame. My artistic side generated a couple beddings Tongue.
Most recently, I discover the medieval theme quite inspiring, and also the interesting world of screenshots etc.

Ugh... and WTH the tombstone in room when the baby is born?
593  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Best Friends and Birds on: 2007 July 13, 02:18:20
Indeed, no relationship flags are wiped at death: the dead sim does not show in the panel, but the mutual flags are recognized anyway. Friends, best friends, lovers, etc are all counted even if dead. They count for simultaneous loves, too, and the friend/best friend flag is wiped only by the regular relationship decay.
I call bug, because it causes issues in gameplay (sims with the fear of falling out of love, cheating widowers, etc.).
594  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Default Medieval Townies & Base Game NPC's for all. on: 2007 July 13, 01:07:39
Awww, pity I couldn't use it for my actual hood, that would be ubershiny. But I'm quite sure I will make another one, and your hood is definitely perfect. Thank you very much for that.

Perhaps it may be of interest that for my hood (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,8877.0.html) I've made a lot of template replacements for NPCs uniforms, so they always have the correct clothes, even the newly spawned ones (some NPCs tend to revert to original template clothes). I don't know if it uses the same system of Paladin's tool, as I made them by hand, but it works. I don't use texture/mesh replacement, only the linking of resources (I hope my words make sense).

At the present time it's still a work in progress, but could it be useful somehow?

That kind of package usually is a sim, I think.
596  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid QOD: Which Uni hack was it that disabled neighborhood moveout? on: 2007 July 12, 04:03:54
He then moved each into the lot bin from there.  Finally, he moved them all into N003 from the lot bin.

That's the exact point in witch the problem is: moving sims to the lot bin scrambles the original hood, and moving them from lot bin to new hood scrambles the new one.

1.  Can we redo this the right way?  Or, is there a right way to do this?
It's possible, in theory, to clean the hood a bit from the rubbish, in SimPE, but I'm pretty positive it would involve a lot of time and effort, and probably you'll have a not truly safe result.

Another way - with some effort too, but way less - is to clone those sims with SimPE surgery, take note of their characteristics etc., then recreate them from CAS, in a completely new hood, and manually add them in SimPE the parts you can't set in CAS. They will be, though, sims with no ancestors, and their story will exist only in your memory.
I did this for my old exploded hood, I even recreated their memories (at least those involving existent sims), but it's a long and tedious work, and you should consider if it's worth the effort.

2.  How long does it take for the BFBVFS to explode?
It's hard to tell: it varies a lot. IMHO, though, you face the risk that your hood suddenly blows up just in the middle of an interesting game session.

4.  How does this effect my neighborhood N002 and why can't I move my sims out?  They were created in N002.

Neighborhoods are completely independent; what you do in one neighborhood will not affect in any way what is going on in another (unless you move stuff between them).
No sims can't be moved in or out a neighborhood without causing the mess discussed above. Basically, when you evict a sim from a neighborhood, they lose any relationship with that, but in the same time they must retain their family tree, memories, memory history, etc.
So, the game substitutes all those dangling resources with fake ones, both in evicted sim and every other sim that remains in the hood.
When you move that sim (with all that rubbish attached) in a new hood, it will drop all that crap in it.

Consider also that if EvictedSimA and EvictedSimB shared a common liason with SimC, now they will have as a reference,  one of them FakeSimC1, and FakeSimC2 the other, multiplyed again.

Now, multiply this for every sim you moved, consider that their descendants will all have a full copy of all that stuff, and so on multiplying... this might give you the idea  Wink.
597  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid QOD: Which Uni hack was it that disabled neighborhood moveout? on: 2007 July 11, 16:45:18
Specifically, do not bin an occupied lot. Moving sims by evicting them into the family bin and moving them to a lot in a different subhood is safe, but never move across NXXXes.

Oops, yes I meant the lot bin, not the sim bin (sims in sim bin cannot be moved in different hoods anyway, right?).
598  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid QOD: Which Uni hack was it that disabled neighborhood moveout? on: 2007 July 11, 12:38:02
Is this what's causing a problem?

I don't know if it causes that specific problem, too, but I'm sure it will cause a lot of various problems - including BFBVFS - in the future.
Moving sims between hoods through the bin is the most reliable way to create a total mess in your hood.

First rule is: never, EVER, move sims between neighborhoods by meant of sim bin lot bin.

Anyway, of course you may enjoy playing a messed up hood for a lot of time in any case, it works - I did it in the past, for months, and therefore I can witness that - but you should consider that from that moment on, you may experience pretty much any kind of malfunctioning sims/lots/etc, the older the hood is, the worst.
As previously stated, the hood works anyway, but if some day your toddlers suddenly wants to woohoo 20 sims, and/or your sims start disappearing from the hood for no reason, etc., just be prepared to throw away the hood and restart from scratch with no or less sadness, because those issue are not repairable.

EDIT: because I'm stupid.

Definitely a fumble.  Tongue
600  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Upset relatives on: 2007 July 10, 20:08:05
That's not gossip. That's the "badmouth" action, which uses the same animations as gossip, but causes a sim to lose rel with the target sim. Since gaining a relation mark counts as "meeting", that's why you got that.
That's it! Yeah, now it makes sense.
