551  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Genetics With Custom Skins on: 2007 August 22, 03:42:02
After reading your post in the other link, something came to mind... did you use the FFS Debugger tool to fix the first born?
I didn't read any more of the post, but that came to mind... im not sure if that would maybe fix the issue? Would It?

and if not... whats the heck point of having DNA when it doesnt even us it anyways! GRR.

yes, I did use it, and I also reloaded the lots many times, no luck Sad.

I agree with you, it's lame; I was really pissed because of my attempts going so bad.

The tatoo-overlay solution seems the best one, at last.
552  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Family Genetics With Custom Skins on: 2007 August 22, 02:31:51
If both parents have a custom skin (with genetic value unaltered, i.e. = 0), you have a 50% probability each.

You can, however, modify the genetic value of those custom skins, and they will behave like jsalemi explains in the above post.

EDIT:
then in the game change the skin to a tattoo'd one... this wont affect the genetics... will it?

It will. I have tested it, and even if it sounds silly, when a baby is born the game will pull the skintone value from the skin the sim is actually showing, and not the value stored in DNA.
I pointed this out here, if you want a longer explaination.
553  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a way.. ? on: 2007 August 20, 23:01:58
Don't worry, broo; it's because of a recurrent troll who's name is miss bree, and that keeps creating sock puppet accounts with "bree" or similar in nickname.
Therefore, whenever a poor unaware new user comes in, is immediatly looked at with suspicion.  Wink

So far, you're the second missbree's killmark, the other one was unlucky Breezilla.

I second Gwill: values in Object Data are only descriptive, not effective.

You, of course.  Wink
556  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it possible to command a teen to 'run away'? on: 2007 August 14, 05:05:38
No, they don't go anywhere in particular: they still appear in the family icons, with a little symbol (just like that of when they sneak out). They're invisible and off-world. They continue to age, though, and will return home about 2 days before their due date (to grow up in adults), or they can be returned by cops (you have to phone emergency->police and report the run away, like with pets).
557  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there any harm in this? on: 2007 August 13, 14:52:40
For hair and clothes, I have separate folders "hair meshes" and "clothing meshes", and drop there the corresponding files, in this way I almost never have duplicated meshes, and can quickly check if I already have a required mesh or not, when I'm downloading stuff.
558  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is it possible to command a teen to 'run away'? on: 2007 August 13, 05:01:07
TeenRunAwayEnabled by Squinge.
I installed it before OfB, but it should not require upgrade.
559  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How do I change the background colour on memories? on: 2007 August 13, 01:55:22
IIRC you need to change a number in memory's raw data, from 0 to 4.
Try looking at another red memory, look where exactly is the '4' and do the same for the new one.

Definitely a cultural thing. I ate locusts, grilled, years ago, and they are one of the tastier food I've ever eaten: quite similar to shrimps or other crustaceans, minus the fishy part.
I can't force mystelf to try raw or living insects, though, or larvae; but I find disgusting and therefore impossible to eat also oysters, so it makes sense.
561  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to renew CAS thumbnails? on: 2007 August 11, 22:13:56
No idea; I tried the shif+click, ctrl+click, anything+click, but no results. It may be because I'm on a mac, but the only thing that works is deleting the whole file, for me.
562  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to renew CAS thumbnails? on: 2007 August 11, 21:17:15
Delete CASThumbnails.package in Thumbnails folder, launch the game, and it will regenerate all of them automatically.
563  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Cat can't be hugged on: 2007 August 09, 15:49:40
Ha! My cat is more cat than your!

He never wants to be hugged: he hates hugs, always reacts with claws and hisses when someone tries to hug him, or even only carry him in arms. No way you can have him on your lap, unless you want to be mauled and scratched too.
Just wave at him from distance, like at least a couple meters, say "hi cat" and smile, and he purrs so loud you can hear him from there.

Ok, so much for useless posts, going back to my business Wink.
564  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graduating more than one sim at a time . . . Is it possible?? on: 2007 August 09, 03:40:51
I interpret the topic as graduation = launch grad party and/or move out and return to neighborhood, because there are the only things that cannot be done by more than one sim at once.

If you try to move out another sim while the first one is still on its way to the taxi, you'll get a message telling you that you can't, and you have to wait until the first sim is completely moved out.
Also, no more than 1 grad party at once may be thrown in the same lot, just like any other party. I think it's because of the party controller: there can't be more in the same lot at once.

567  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Number of sims on community lots on: 2007 August 06, 00:45:05
Also I'd noticed that thing about the number of sims seeming to be less if you visit a lot in the middle of the night. I thought maybe it was just my imagination because I didn't think the game would be that clever but maybe it is as you've noticed it too!

Yes, for once, the game _is_ that clever  Cheesy (feel free of being shocked  Grin).
In addition to the calculations about how many community items are present in the lot, there are also checks on the time of the day, and different limitations to the number and type of visiting sims according to them.
568  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Number of sims on community lots on: 2007 August 04, 18:43:49
According to the code, it seems dependent on the number of community objects presents on the lot. I don't know what exactly they are, but probably objects catalogued as buyable in community lots.
569  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Oooh! House Elves! on: 2007 August 03, 17:00:37
I would say you have an invisible chef.

Try some hacked object that shows you a menu of all sims present in the lot, like the relationships setter element of Insim, something like that.
570  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Barmen not showing up downtown. on: 2007 August 02, 18:04:26
The coffe makers came with Uni.  Are the baristas the same as the community bartenders?

True! I forgot about that.
Just checked in game. Baristas came with Uni and not NL. You can find the barista NPC under "EP1 NPCs" in the tree npc maker.
571  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Custom Barmen not showing up downtown. on: 2007 August 02, 15:40:49
Not yet checked the tree, but

Bartender = base game (that who can be hired for parties at home)
Barista = EP2 (NL) one - he attend the bar and the coffeemaker.
572  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hacks needed desperately on: 2007 July 30, 11:58:09
Sims cancel playing the instrument when Fun is full, even if the player directed them to do it... so playing instruments no longer works well for upping skills. I would think the ideal fix would be to just cancel the autonomous music-playing when Fun is full?

Great minds think alike  Grin. That was indeed my original plan, but I was in a hurry and threw the half-baked mod in as-is, then forget about, as it was ok enough for my actual gameplay: that's why I labeled it as "rough" and not yet officially released.
One day or another I would refine that better for sure, if I can manage (or noone else do in the meantime).
573  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game Crashes on: 2007 July 29, 20:47:35
We need a bit more infos about your problem: e.g. when the errors appear, in what situation, etc.
The logs you've attached doesn't give info, you need to force an error, in case, in debug mode, and then post only that one.

See how to get an error log in FAQs: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7437.msg208014.html#msg208014 for more hints.
574  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: servos as townies? on: 2007 July 29, 12:09:04
Ditto.
I turn servos in townies then hire them for owned business; it's quite handy, they work as employee but don't clog the lot like residents.
575  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hacks needed desperately on: 2007 July 29, 01:13:58
Not an "official" hack, but maybe you should have some relief with this I made for me. It does not stop sims to go practice or perform on instruments, but makes them stop when fun is 100%.
It's quite 'rough', but it works, if you want to give it a try Smiley.
