526  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Hard-to-find conversational options on: 2009 July 27, 18:17:35
I believe I've gotten praise on non-schmoozy sims when they have a child who just made the honor roll.
527  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New objects starting to turn up on: 2009 July 27, 17:45:04
And simslice has new cars, making fire stations possible  Grin
But these are pay cars BTW.

Of course.  Roll Eyes
528  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: A graphical glitch with adaptive anti-aliasing on: 2009 July 26, 21:53:15
*sigh* Why can't I leave well enough alone? Well I just updated to the new 9.7 drivers and now I'm getting graphical glitches and oddness. I'll have to play around and see if it enabled adaptive AA by default and if so disable it.
529  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Delphy's non replacement hair tool. on: 2009 July 26, 21:10:53
Peggy will be so pleased!  Grin

Apparently, she has her own tools.  Roll Eyes

She also can't be arsed with elders or just generally doing things correctly, but maybe automating the process will get her off her lazy ass to do it.

Of course she won't actually be using this. She will be using her own tools uniquely developed especially for Peggy Zone.  Cheesy
530  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 26, 20:25:28
Yes but note the files names ...

rose_free_hair01_female_af.package and rose_free_hair01_female_cf.package

Notice the _free_ and as much I would like to think she is not going down the "donation" route I certainly suspicious.

Please. Do you even have to wonder? I give her a week tops until she comes out with a 'donation' hair. I am sure all these sites are dying for more donations since TS2 is going the way of the dodo bird for the most part.

Funny thing is, I looked at the image for that new "free" hair on her front page and it said "Rosesims2" on it so for a second I thought it was TS2. Tongue
531  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fireplaces suck. on: 2009 July 26, 20:21:01
I've had several accidental deaths actually. Another happened while repairing the computer and got electrocuted, but luckily, the sim in question was unlucky. Wink

One got electrocuted from repairing the damned trash compactor too.
532  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: There Are No Schools In This Town? on: 2009 July 26, 20:17:46
You know, I strongly suspect this game was not well tested over long term with a lot of character entries ending up in the neighborhood. I've found by poking through the save that character entries seem to remain even if you get rid of those characters from your neighborhood.

I know TS2 starting having issues when the save file had lots and lots of character entries. With this game I seem to notice more issues in neighbors that I've played longer or mods (like Indie Stone) have moved tons and tons of sims into. I suspect there's a correlation. I guess time will tell.

533  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Code Fix for inactive slacker sims on: 2009 July 26, 20:09:35
Cool. I will try it out.

You did mention a whole mess of kids at the school in the morning. Have you had any issues with the zergswarming to all get into the tiny rabbit hole at the same time?

I followed someone's suggestion in the other thread and edited one of the ini's to let the sims walk through each other. Tongue
534  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: There Are No Schools In This Town? on: 2009 July 26, 19:14:59
Honestly Coconnor if you had 600 bogus clone entries PLUS all your sims in your neighborhood, even if you gassed them all, I have a suspicion that particular save file is already borked.
535  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Maid Hair without Cap on: 2009 July 26, 19:12:45
When called on it:

Quote from: Tweiland
This is a hair that comes with the game - the maid hair, with the frilly cap removed.  I hope you aren't suggesting you meshed this...?

The 'artists's' response was:

Quote from: AnoeskaB
Tweiland, the Workshop needs to be developed a bit more before we will be able to import complete new meshes. In the mean time we'll do the most we can do with the material we have, which means modifying existing hairmeshes. Exactly the same as happened it the early period of hairmeshing for Sims 2.

Anyway, now we have the Delphy tool.

Sorry TSR, for all your blustering about how you have this great tool that is able to do all these things first even before the game came out, you FAIL.
536  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fireplaces suck. on: 2009 July 26, 19:01:26
Okay then I am just going completely senile like the nannies.  Grin

Still, I had less fires in years of playing TS2 than I have in one month of playing TS3. Tongue
537  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Code Fix for inactive slacker sims on: 2009 July 26, 18:47:24
Since Pescado's usage and modification policy is "meh" can you post your version or at least tell us how to modify ours?

I am sick and tired of my god damned neighborhood sims never going to work or school.  Angry
538  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / World of Puddings / Re: Motoki Pudding on: 2009 July 26, 18:43:43
Not too puddingly.  Tongue

I remember your sims 2 sim was one of my favourite MATY males.

I like the pyjama bottoms, I almost downloaded your nannies just for the pattern, but didn't in the end - because I'm still too traumatised by them.

Cheesy Well I am glad to know I am having a good sim life.

I had to have the danged nannies. Pescado even has a hidden incontinent trait so that works out just fine for them. Wink
539  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fireplaces suck. on: 2009 July 26, 17:07:54
To get a burglar, everyone has to be asleep or out. Since in my households, like in real life, I post someone on watch, I never see any burglars. Tongue

Ah that must be it. I think it's rare that everyone is asleep. And I admit since getting the damned moodlet manage my sims are addicted to it and have dispensed with sleep altogether. Tongue

Indeed. Fire in general in TS3 is a bit crap. Using "discoinferno", I expected a massive casualty rate to go alongside the entire town burning, but it didn't happen. I think only one sim actually died, because I made sure he did.

Really? I think probably 75% of the town died when I did it.

And the first fire I had way back was quite by accident. child sim was sitting down sort of by the fireplace area but not right in front of it either doing his homework and granpa was helping him when suddenly they both catch on fire. Gramps got away with just being singed. The boy was not so lucky. I was thinking (like TS2) that kids couldn't die in this game. Wrong.  Shocked
540  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Compatibility question with configuration file. on: 2009 July 26, 16:42:45
Thanks for the kitten. Will kitty be in the next update of awesomemod? Wink

If Pescado put cats in the game all of the BBS would hail him as their hero and build a statue to him.

Then they would ask for a pony.
541  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Modern Wood - a starter home on: 2009 July 26, 09:53:26
It looks like you've used crap, substandard beds and stoves, too. Kinda renders the house pointless to use as a result. You must not cut corners on beds, stoves, or showers, as using substandard parts is worse than nothing at all!

Meh, screw that. I have the socialized energy xml mod from MTS.

I got tired of always feeling forced to use the same damned bed and sometimes that bed does not match the type of house I am building. Also, he has a good point that a bed doesn't make you magically sleep longer (or shorter).

The beds still will give positive or negative moodlets based on their comfort so a cheap bed will still give you a sore back.
542  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fireplaces suck. on: 2009 July 26, 09:47:01
I don't know Pescado, I am with Gus the amount of fires from fireplaces is way too overzealous and over the top. On the other hand, other things in the game, like being burglarized, is way too underrepresentated.

I have played this game a lot for over a month on a number of lots and family types. I have not had a single burglary yet I have had TONS of fires. It seems to be a common as breathing or going to the bathroom in sims land.

While you may enjoy fire and think it's a good thing because of your own personal just wanting to set the world on fire biases Tongue it really is annoying.

I like the warmth bonus but I won't touch a fireplace with a 10 foot pole, put any furniture near it or even have my sims go near it until I upgrade to fireproof and even doing that I need to get a sim who has mastered tinkering and has all the bonuses or guess what? They start a fire upgrading it.  Roll Eyes

I have just been, pardon the pun, burned too many times.

I'd actually like to do the changing colors fireplace upgrade but I don't dare because while the fire may be pretty and ooh ahh colors, my sims will be singing Burning Down the House every day.

This was the best I could come up with. He still looks kind of doughy. I may do another version at some point when there's more custom content out there. We'll see.

I think the only custom content I used was the first jeans pattern from this page at Around The Sims 3 http://www.aroundthesims3.com/patterns/pattern_fabric_01.shtml

It's hard to tell though. If you install stuff the MTS/package way and not the Exchange/sims3pack way you don't get an icon next to your content letting you know it's custom and not default.

Oh and I used a familiar pattern for my PJ bottoms Cheesy

544  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Slacker Babysitters on: 2009 July 25, 21:34:32
How on earth are you getting a babysitter to be on the lot while the parents are still there?

Uh, call services.  Wink
545  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 25, 16:20:57
Since the game was designed for just playing one family, I can understand why they'd save on computing power by not "physically" sending them to work or school. But at the same time, they should have designed a way for the NPC's to not get punished for not physically going. It's concept that was only thought out is a half-assed way (is anyone surprised by that?).

After some personal tweaking, I got all my sims going back to work physically.  As expected there is a bit of a lag, but not horribly so.  I have about 75 sims that trod off to work each day, though not all at the same time mind you.

The vanilla game appears to want all the sims to physically go to work, so it only took a couple tweaks to get them going again.

As an aside, with full radar tracking, it's hilarious watching my 30 children file into school each morning.

Good Day. Smiley

What tweaks would these be exactly? I would like to know because mine never take their asses to work. I don't want to play them all and I don't necessarily need to physically see them going to work or school, I just don't want them to have their performance constantly in the toilet and get fired all the damned time like they are doing right now.
546  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Maid Hair without Cap on: 2009 July 25, 16:14:36
So dumb that TSR made this pay. Ugh.

If you get a moment would you mind explaining the steps you use to do this? I tried alpha editing the shaggy male hair to raise the bangs so you could actually see their eyes (and so I might actually want to use it Tongue) but I clearly did something wrong when I repackaged it because it crashed my game when I tried to select it in the CAS. Tongue

It's also like to make that male 'sticking up' hair less (or not at all!) sticking up. Then, again, I would actually use it as I don't now.

Oh you should probably repost the 'pineapple-less' hair either here in the first post below the bun one or else in its own thread. Several people have asked for it and I've directed them to your post in the SAU hair thread, but it's kind of buried.
547  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 25, 15:51:15
@Tangie: If you don't want stasis then you can just set them to moving off. All the other things will still function as normal and I believe this only prevents the family from moving and not necessarily individual members if the situation warrants it.

But anyway, this is more an Indie Stone tip than an Awesomemod one. Tongue
548  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Download Links: Sims 3 Skins & Addons (Update 23/7) PIERCINGS & LINGERIE ! on: 2009 July 25, 15:46:41
My complain is they are "painted on", granted until we can create bump maps they will always be painted on but if you look at the EA clothing you see they added a bit of shadow effect so it gives some illusion of 3D.

Its annoying to me because I always put some shadow in my TS2 textures, its a simple touch that requires little effort.

Haha yes, they have been doing that in this community since TS1. People will constantly paint on bows and such like this that are utterly flat without a hint of depth. If you don't have a a mesh for it or at least a good bump map, then no. Some things a little shading will help, like body textures, but when you have something that requires significant depth it becomes readily apparent on the side profile that it's flat. Tongue
549  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Slacker Babysitters on: 2009 July 25, 08:57:54
Okay see if these files work.

For the tops I used the first (one on the leftmost side) denim pattern from Around the Sims 3 http://www.aroundthesims3.com/patterns/pattern_fabric_01.shtml

You don't have it use it if you don't want and can just do solid white or another pattern, but I thought it gave the shirt a nice material look.

Let me know if the files don't work. This was sort of an experiment exporting clothing recolors via the CAS and then extracting a useable package file from the sims3pack.
550  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 25, 05:10:56
do download the odd thing - tedw removing the weird pineapple spray behind a style, that sort of thing.

I missed the link to that one. Is it somewhere here on MATY?

It's kind of buried.
