526  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sim missing upon family move-in on: 2008 October 21, 10:38:48
Ugh, it worries me that your logs show a "TemplateDog", I wonder if that sim can't show up because it's messed up its species.

ETA:
Also there's a gazillion of

Code:
Object Name : Social - Fight - Shove id : xxx	Room: -1

in your lot. Any idea on how they can be there? Stuck enemies or something?
527  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Instruments by proxy GUID [Update 8-28-08 EP8!] on: 2008 October 16, 03:53:08
I would add a modded version of modded tippingfix (tippingfix3), which nukes the endless animations when the sim picks up the tip jar.
Once you try without anims, you'll never go back!
528  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I Can Has Ceiling Tiles? on: 2008 October 16, 03:04:21
It's amazing how players made ceilings never had this kind of issues, so far...

Go, EA, GO!

P.S.: I wonder if ceilings are sold back like waves do, when the family moves out.
529  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Romantic greetings and departures between friends? This cant end well... on: 2008 October 13, 21:13:48
Heh, that's an issue that annoyed me since the beginning (it started in Nightlife maybe?). Squinge solved with a Less Romantic Greets & Goodbyes hack, now still outdated.
You can try a rough update I made for myself in BV - quite sure it needs updating too, but probably it may crush at least the most part...
Beware, this crap is HIGHLY NON-AWESOME and I myself keep it in Quarantine folder, as I still didn't have the time/will to look seriously in it.
530  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nasty glitch on: 2008 October 13, 11:47:23
Download this and see if it enables force-error to do something on Mac.

It worked! Yay! I'm able to force errors on Mac!
531  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nasty glitch on: 2008 October 05, 13:30:04
This doesn't make sense to me.  I have a Mac, and I've certainly done a Force Error in Debug mode (and produced an error log.)  I'll be interested to see what results come up.
That's really interesting; I've never been able to have a Force Error spawn the window and the subsequent log. Something probably happens, though, as when I click e.g. "Force Error on all" with the batbox the game freezes or lags for a few seconds, even if no visible outcome occurs.
I didn't any extensive test with different combinations of EPs; now I have every damn EP and SP those lazy Aspyr programmers ported for Mac (I was so sick to wait that now I play in my Windows partition, to enjoy all the remaining SPs and at least FT).

Yesterday I tested the "Force Error an all" in Winzozz game... VERY bad idea.
532  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nasty glitch on: 2008 October 04, 17:50:35
...I could make it work. Who has a Mac and wants to find out?

That would be awesome (needless to say); I may test it in BV (no FT nor AL for us Mac paeons, probably forever).

And I see you seem to have managed to be alive. I was just about to allow your sim to die off in Awesomeland. SHOW UP MOAR!
You know, I was afraid of something like this (my bad, of course). Actually, my boss seems to realize that internet connection at work might be useful sometimes, so I hope I'll can use my spare time at work for - at last! - browsing, reading and posting. During this year I become a crossword expert, sigh.
Next issue could be having that Windows ME connect and properly display sites between a blue screen and the next one... but that's another story.

As a Mac user can you still enable the testing cheat?  Errors (in this situation) should pop up all by themselves without having to force them.
Yep, "autonomous" errors do pop up regularly in debug mode, but force error does not pop up any window, nor it creates any log file.
533  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Nasty glitch on: 2008 October 04, 14:27:37
(hi everybody! somehow back here and there, out of the little time I have to play or hang out on the net; better greetings and hugs [or kicks/stomps if preferred] later in more appropriated places)

There may be an additional problem for the OP: since she states she's a mac user, for some reason only Aspyr and their gods know, forcing an error on mac version does not work. Neat feature, uhu?
534  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: high texture detail, crappy clothes details on: 2007 November 17, 11:54:38
I have the same problem, random, with Seasons and the computer change, from iMac G5 to MacIntel. I blame the video card.
535  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sims take care of selves: World implodes on: 2007 November 11, 19:27:33
Yep, autonomous repair happens if the sim has mech skill 8 or more. Apparently it happens if the sim also has no other needs with high advertising (e.g. low social/fun/etc.): when it would probably idling, or something like that. I'm sure it's planned since the base game.

The MP3 swap seems weird, instead; maybe some inventory tokens messed up?
536  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The safest way to delete a sim from game? on: 2007 November 10, 17:49:53
I think that it doesn't work with the QA version, because I assume that Theo is still working on that upgrade (or will wait for that SimPE's version official release, before upgrading his tool). However, it works like a charm in Seasons' version.

Yes, it deletes the same resources (I checked manually, and I spotted no differences between the two methods) as the lot debugger does, plus the SDSC resource and the corresponding phyisical character file.
The lot debugger is quicker in deleting related resources in game, and with Theo's tool you don't need the part of writing down the #ID of the character, etc.
537  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Elder got pregnant! (Ste???) on: 2007 November 09, 22:19:31
It's a sorta glitch, it happens sometimes since the base game; I've witnessed that quite often with CAS elders. Sometimes the "try for baby" is present in the pie menu, too.
Anyway, chime yes, but no "real" pregnancy, as the sim doesn't give birth to anyone anyway.
Probably it's some safety check missing somewhere in the age-pregnancy code, I'm not sure, but it doesn't seem to make real harm.
538  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The safest way to delete a sim from game? on: 2007 November 09, 22:03:13
Actually, there is a plug-in for SimPE (sort of), by Theo here. I usually delete sims with the lot debugger first, and then finish the work with that tool in SimPE; it speeds up the whole process and deletes the sim completely, character file included.

540  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Anyone here care to try and fix these glitches? on: 2007 September 15, 22:03:02
I knew for sure that some windows are broken and do not let the light pass through, so it is possible that other new windows are as well. One of the OpenMe windows is; there's a couple of fix on MTS2, one by MaryLou (global) and one by Windkeeper.
541  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims don't seem to die correctly on: 2007 September 08, 14:23:29
When a sim is dead I noticed that in their portrait the background turns blue. After installing the cleaned up templates when I kill off a Sims their portrait background stays the normal grey.
The blue background should be IIRC about "unlinked" state (default for Maxis' dead sims). There's a hack by Pescado which prevents dead sims unlinkage, maybe you have that hack too.
In any case, though, it should not be a bad thing for your sims.

It didn't bother me as it seemed not to be causing any game issues, but when playing today one of my teens came home I got the pop up that he had brought home a friend and it was one of the teens I had killed off. As soon as he got off the bus a second pop up came up saying that she had died on another lot and will return to that lot. I'm guessing something is screwy.

This is the regular behavior; probably you saved the lot before with that teen already scheduled as a brought-home schoolmate. In those cases the game loads the now-dead sim and process it exactly the way you witnessed.

I also now have duplicates of Skip and darlenn (if that's her name) it doesn't bother me, just wanted to make sure I didn't do something wrong or it will cause problems.
Yet another regular feature of default Pleasantview: the game ships with duplicates of Skip Broke, Darleen Dreamer, and IIRC also other dead sims. It's not your fault Smiley.
542  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Mouse disappearing on: 2007 September 06, 22:47:04
It happens to me, sometimes, when I hide the application "too early" (hide is the Macs' corresponding action to Win's minimize), while the neighborhood is not fully loaded.
543  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BV: Anybody Updating These Abandoned Mods? on: 2007 September 06, 22:43:48
As soon as I can put my hands on BV objects.package, I'll try to check compatibility/update for Squinge's mods (at least the simpler ones). Jordi also said that he will.

And if you hate the endless tinkering with the tip jar, grab this, or this if you use Pes' tippingfix.
545  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Getting rid of Veronaville and Strangetown? on: 2007 September 02, 09:51:33
TS2's files are easily accessible inside compressed.zip

If you have the Mac edition of the game, instead, you have to ctrl-clic on the application, choose "Show Package contents" and open the subsequent folders till you find Archive.pax.gz. Copy this file from the DVD to the Desktop (or wherever you want, on your hard disc), double-clic and let it expand.

This archive is compressed with gzip and pax, but luckily the archiver built-in in the system can expand both formats.

and the simslice telescope.
I would bet on this. SimSlice's stuff pretty much always have some weird or borked behavior.
547  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Won't Marry on: 2007 August 22, 21:42:27
Sharing a whole hood is safe, it's the export/import of single lots with families that is not.
548  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Won't Marry on: 2007 August 22, 04:47:57
Lot Debugger is here. It's an advanced tool, though, so be careful. It doesn't do any harm, though, unless you choose something random without understanding what it does Tongue.

In this specific case, though, I guess the Pescado suggestion is way more useful. Just drop it in the Downloads folder, it will not show up like an object.
549  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims Won't Marry on: 2007 August 22, 04:13:48
Perfect, thank you Smiley.

The error seems related to memories; do you have any hack that affects memories? In that case, I would try to load the game without them - as a first try - and see if the error persists.

Another try might be cleaning the memories with the Lot Debugger (choose to clean trash, gossips and attraction markers).

Even better, grab the error log and attach it to your post, as pointed out here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,7437.msg208014.html#msg208014
