TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Regenerating Catalog Thumbnail. How?

Go into the thumbnails folder (under your documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 folder) and delete the relevant thumbnail file (I believe it's 'objectsthumbnails.package'). The game will rebuild it next time you go into buy mode.
The thumbnail files get glitched over time -- many of us just delete all of them on principle every so often.

Well, the easiest way is to just delete the CASThumbnails.package -- the game will regenerate it next time you go into CAS and select a skin. There's also a way to update individual thumbnails -- turn the testing cheats on before you go into CAS, and then shift-click (or shift-right-click -- I forget which, since I rarely use it) on the thumbnail to regenerate it.
Just deleting the thumbnail package is probably the best course of action if it's more than one that's borked, though.

Sorry to res old topic (didn't see why I needed to start a new one for a problem with this item)
...
I have taken all controllers off this lot because of this but I love them so much I'd like to be able to re-install them. OH BTW the bathroom is the only 1 on lot and has only 1 toilet and 1 shower. The shower is in a separate room and the controller is set to radius of 5 (just enough to detect the shower in the other room). Seek is on.
Posting in the topic for a particular hack is never necromancy here, in spite of the big scary guy. As for your problem, try making the shower and the toilet be in the same room by knocking down a piece of the wall. I've found that the radius setting isn't quite as accurate as just having it set to 'room'.

Once you get used to DFA, you'll find it almost intolerable to use the original, which never angles above 45ish! Mine settles at around 80-90!
What's the difference between your DFA and the Gunmod camera changes? I've been using the GM ones for ages, and get a top-down view whenever I want.

EDIT: I removed inteen. I realized I downoaded the newest moreawesomethanyou.zip but it was moreawesomethanyou-ft.zip that I was supposed to download. ... Moral of the story kids: Download the one that has the expansion pack abbreviation at the end.
Actually, it doesn't make a bit of difference -- both names point to the exact same file (the ol' Unix alias function, dontchaknow), so it doesn't matter if you download moreawesomethanyou.zip or moreawesomethanyou-ft.zip. The real moral of the story is to get the moreawesomethanyou.zip from the directory that corresponds to the EP you have. Or if you always have the latest EP, just download it from the link in the Hack Directory thread in the Armory.

2. I would very much like to see a mod that stopped the children from playing with the microphones on the podium. That's annoying.
Google search is your friend; TwoJeffs has had that mod available for years now. You can find it over on simbology.

they've been updated since ikea came out?
Yes, at least twice. I suggest you keep an eye on the 'Hack Directory' thread in the Armory, as new updates are reported there as they happen (or pretty soon afterward ).

Hmm, I must have something that fixes that (or perhaps the BV patch does --- are you up-to-date on the patch), but I've not had a problem with the nanny staying around to house sit for a pet.
Are you waiting until the game says you need a nanny, or are you calling the nanny on your own? I think I've only scheduled the nanny on my own ("come just this time"), and that may be the difference.

Make sure you have the latest version of all hacks before whining -- the problems with the Phone hack and AutoYak have been fixed in recent updates. If you still have problems, you have either an old version of the phone hack hiding elsewhere in your downloads directory (it's a hack that will hitchhike on downloaded lots), or another hack that's conflicting with it or with the game (aka, tight pants). Get the clean installer from MTS2 and the Hack conflict detection utility from simwardrobe, and run both to find your problem(s).

I'm happy with my 2GBs of RAMZ. Before it took my old PC five minutes to "set up" once I logged on so I could use the internet, but now it takes under a minute. I am so glad we got a new PC.
I was happy with 512Mb until I got 1GB. Then I was happy, until I got 2GB and wondered how I lived so long with 1GB. Then I built my own PC and put 4GB in it, and wondered how I ever got along with 2GB. It never ends, Jess. Also, don't forget that your new PC also probably has a more powerful CPU than the old one (I think they upgrade the CPU capabilities every other day these days ), so that certainly influences how fast things happen. But it's a kind-of PC formula -- faster CPU + Faster and more RAM = much happier user.

Also, is it even possible to have 8GBs of RAMZ? How much RAMZ could one PC have? Curious minds and all that.
Depends on the motherboard and the type of RAM sticks it takes. There are 4GB sticks out there, so if your motherboard supports it, you can have 16GB RAM in the machine. Of course, the 32-bit version of Windows XP/Vista will only see 4GB, and effectively give you 3.5GB usable memory. You need the 64-bit versions to see it all. I meant what is better, 32 or 64. Meh, I won't worry about it. If I get my internetz I'll be happy If you have a need for more than 3.5GB RAM, then the 64-bit version is better. Otherwise, it's a toss-up for the average user, with the downside that you can't just upgrade from a 32-bit version to a 64-bit version -- you have to do a fresh install, and re-install everything on your system. I remember that some applications had problems with the 64-bit version of XP, but I've read that applications written for Vista don't care one way or the other which one they run on.

Yea, all good things must come to an end... (But my custom built, super-duper desktop computer is and will remain Vista-free for as long as possible. ) Revenge story about getting Vista: I was working from home yesterday, so I ran up to Best Buy to get the upgrade pack (Home Premium), which was listed on their website at $129 (I had a bunch of reward zone coupons I was planning to use). After waiting a while for a salesman to finally get it for me, since they don't keep it on the shelves (like people are going to actually try to steal it ), and waiting in line, I got to the register and it kept ringing up @ $159. In spite of their web page saying that $129 was the price, and the sticker on the shelf in the store saying it was $129, the cashier and her boss kept insisting that $159 was the right price, so I told them to keep it and walked out. Went on line a bit later and ordered it for pickup at the $129 price. Went to the store to get it later in the day, and had to wait a bit as the guy found someone with a key to the locked cabinet they had the pickup orders in. When he finishes the ring-up process, it turns out the in-store price is really $95, and that I also get a discount because of their guarantee that you'll get an in-store pickup item in a minute or less (didn't know about that one). So with the lower price, discount, and the reward coupons I had, the Vista upgrade cost me.... $35.

I am right though, am I not, that the remote-controlled car is a Sim? Not that I'm terribly computer-savvy, but who on earth thinks up this stuff, and what are they on, anyway?... Yup, the remote-controlled car, and the helicopter that came with FT, and all the robots from OFB are treated as NPC sims in the game. That's why you'll see very outgoing sims making the greeting animation to the sentrybot (for example) as they walk into the house.
