51  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 11, 00:41:58
I found that many of the EA-built houses from the Library bin already have cribs in them, so I've been plopping them down in my new Sunset Valley that I began from scratch (only business lots, and all humans deleted). I also added cribs to several of the lots that I snagged from Riverview and the original SV, and am currently using the Awesome story driver, yet none of my unplayed sims are spawning, despite most of them having at least one crib and one spare single bed in their homes and/or having the funds to move to a larger home that contains cribs and plenty of beds. Oh, and I also did "wandhere" on every single house in the town. I like that the sims are no longer playing Musical Houses, as I apparently chose well for them, but I'd be much happier if my hard work was actually paying off, and my sims were squirting out babbyz. This is disappointing, but I refuse to go back to Indie Stone, because of the clone spam that the ISM produces. Le sigh.

Edit: I see now that AM has been updated to fix this problem. Yay!
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: SavedSims not showing up in CAS on: 2009 August 11, 00:20:25
I have a similar problem, and didn't see the need to start my own thread about it. Most of my custom sims show up in CAS, except for two of about a dozen that I downloaded and manually installed. All the other downloaded sims show up, just not these two, and for no apparent reason. Any suggestions?
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is this a trait thing or is my sim just THAT bored.. on: 2009 August 11, 00:16:44
Yes, it has to do with the insane trait. Apparently, EA's definition of insane is wanting to sit in every single chair in the house, including the toilet.
54  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 11, 00:07:04
Warning: Supreme Commander does not play nicely with the lockable doors found at MTS2. I set up a housemates situation, and locked the doors according to which room I wanted for each sim. I even directed the sims to sleep in specific beds, so that the beds would be assigned to them. This was a waste of time, and wreaked havoc on this particular household. I left the housemates for a few sim days, to check on some other famblies. When I came back to the housemates, they had somehow managed to get into each other's rooms to sleep in each other's beds, but were then stuck inside, with their motives failing, and were unable to go to work. This problem only occurred while the housemates were under the control of SC. Do not use the lockable doors if you are using SC to Task: Work & School, and are not constantly playing the household that uses them. Bad things will happen.

56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anyone know of a Mod to off your sims? on: 2009 August 10, 04:33:52
I just drag their Hunger meter down. They INSTANTLY die. I wish there was a Mod for death but WITHOUT the Grim Reaper showing. If I kill off an entire household he takes forever to collectsouls and what not.

I find starvation ghosts to be annoying, because they raid your household's fridge. I don't know about you, but I have my sims precook meals, so that they can eat a high-quality meal before work or school, thus eliminating the need to cook food when time is short. I don't need hungry ghosts eating up all the leftovers before my living sims can get to them. I do, however, love the Ctrl+Shift+Click deaths. Because a creepy Victorian mansion just isn't the same without ghosts...

WTF is with the lack of spacing between sentences? Look at my post. Do you see how there's a single space after each individual sentence? Do that. Lack of spacing between sentences makes your posts difficult to read, and thus your meaning gets lost behind the stupidity of not spacing out your sentences. When communicating, it's best to do so in the clearest way possible. Seriously, properly spacing your sentences is not that hard to do, so do it!
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Criminal Career and Getting Arrested on: 2009 August 05, 00:04:32
I think there's something to your theory about the Lucky trait. I also have two sims in the same household who are both in the criminal career track, and the one with the lucky trait seems to get arrested less often. This could be pure coincidence, however.
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.3 Released on: 2009 August 04, 23:51:18
The use of fruit for cooking seems to go in alphabetical order. When my sims' household ran out of apples, they started using grapes, and then limes for stuff like pancakes. As long as you make sure to have plenty of apples in the fridge, then the fruit-using meals should always use apples.
60  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Work/school zergswarms and game performance on: 2009 August 04, 23:45:32
TS3 suffers from a wicked memory leak. I have a high-end gaming computer, and after 3-4 hours of play, I begin to notice short bursts of random lagging. After 5-6 hours of play, the game gets annoyingly slow at odd times, for no apparent reason (not the usual 1 AM storymode lag). This is despite having trained myself to automatically save the game each sim-day at around 2 AM. I have storymode notifications enabled, and use them as a reminder to save. The mind boggles as to why EA didn't fix the memory leak with the latest patch, but I've given up trying to fathom why they do, or don't do, certain things that are obvious and would seem to make sense.
61  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Story Mode on: 2009 August 04, 23:11:30
I actually got a really gorgeous sim out of two mutants. It was a pleasant surprise, because this happens sometimes in RL, as well.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 03, 23:12:07
I removed the ISM for the same reason you did. My 'hood wound up with multiples of the bin families that were exact clones of each other, both in houses and in the homeless bin. My game lagged like ass. Something had to go, so I deleted the clones and uninstalled ISM. Problem solved!

[/off-topic tangent]

I don't even use the swatches, though. I use the slider that seems to be default for the Basics tab. It goes from pale peach to dark brown, yet the game still gives spawnlets one or the other skintone. This gets frustrating, but that's what editsim is for.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) UPDATE: skuversion.txt on: 2009 August 03, 10:33:10
No, I had the same problem, but am not a Mac user. It turned out to be an issue with the stupid EA Download Manager. After reinstalling that, my downloads work fine.
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Saved sims disappeared? on: 2009 August 03, 02:18:04
Oh, then you just need to place your custom sims from the Library somewhere in your town (if you haven't already) and then take each one of them to a dresser or mirror, or use one of the console commands for that, if you're using Awesomemod. Once the sim has loaded into CAS, click the round button with the three dots on it, click the folder icon, and save the sim to your CAS bin. It will also be saved to your Saved Sims directory under Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Installshield issue. on: 2009 August 03, 00:39:39
It is, indeed, possible to have more than one installer running at a time. The Launcher/Installer loves to open a new version of itself every time you try to do anything with the game. Just check your system tray to make sure there aren't multiple versions running, and right-click any extra ones to close them.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Saved sims disappeared? on: 2009 August 03, 00:35:48
Do you mean that they aren't showing up in the Library bin, after you've created them in CAS?
68  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Help with the Homeless on: 2009 August 02, 07:34:55
Did you try searching this topic before starting a new thread? There's plenty of information on this, if you'd bother to look for it.
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 02, 04:29:48
jwaas, the Awesome-compatible Indie Stone mod shouldn't have been affected by the patch, because it's not a core mod. It was probably just the usual voodoo that caused your game to run better after taking it out.
70  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: neighbors constantly moving on: 2009 August 02, 04:15:35
This has been mentioned many times in other threads, and is not unique to you. Please make an effort to do some independent research before posting new threads. A search using the term "story mode" will probably give you the answers that you need, as will reading existing threads regarding the Awesomemod.
71  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any idea what mods could be screwing up my game after patching it? on: 2009 August 02, 03:15:48
Are you using a cracked .exe or the Awesomemod's no-CD feature? It's been suggested in other threads that, the first time you load your game after patching, do so using the original CD or DVD, load any neighborhood, quit the game (no need to save), and then reload using your normal method.
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 16:09:20
I own a legal copy of the game, and had no problems installing the patch, and have had no problems using the latest version of Awesomemod. Before patching, I'd made sure to replace altered files with the originals from my backup drive. Everything ran smoothly.
73  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Mods and custom content Crashing the Game. on: 2009 August 01, 00:15:22
Did you update the Awesomemod (and any other core mods you might be using) to the newest version(s)? Older versions aren't compatible with the 1.3 patch.

ETA: Try deleting your cache files, as well. These are any files within Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 that have "cache" in the name. They control the way that content shows up in the game, and deleting them will force the game to make new ones that contain the most current information.
74  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Installation of 1.3 Patch completely fucked up my game on: 2009 July 31, 03:41:24
Try removing the enablescripterror package from your Mods/Packages directory. I had installed it, at one point, and it seemed to fix the crash on loading that I'd experienced, but then I changed something else, and had to remove it. That time, removing it fixed the crashing problem. It's just another form of voodoo, but it's worth a try.
75  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 29, 01:19:39
Is it on purpose that the BetterGeneticSkinBlend always picks the color from the parent with the darkest skin?
I thought it would pick the color at random from the father or mother and then picks a random shade somewhere inbetween, but it appears to always pick the color from the parent with the darkest shade of skin.
Yes. That is on purpose.

Then, where does the "blending" part of that feature come in? If it's always going to choose only one parent's skintone, and not actually blend the tones, then what's the point? My question isn't meant to be antagonistic; I'm just curious.
