TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Homeless Challenge, TS3
|
on: 2010 February 11, 06:54:14
|
I'm attempting to rework the Poverty Challenge for TS3. Preliminary rules for the Homeless Challenge: - Your sim is a bum! Sims may only earn income from opportunities, trash rummaging, and mooching off other sims.
- Kleptomaniac sims may nick things for their own use but may not sell them. Too hot!
- Sims may NOT earn income from paintings, collectibles, or selling vegetables.
- Move along, vagrants! Your sims may not use showers, tubs, beds, or refrigerators and stoves on community lots. Realistically this is normally a difficult thing for a homeless person to do, and makes the challenge more difficult.
Instructions: First build a lot with a fence and nothing else (so the game will allow placement of the sim on an otherwise empty lot). A gate is okay. Then move in your sim(s), and use Pescado's familyfunds cheat to set the bank to 0 simoleons. Play. The challenge ends when the firstborn child ages naturally to YA. ETA: tents are okay, community lot tubs are not

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New World: Crescent Cove, A Barrier Island

I like it! Reminds me of the North Carolina Outer Banks. I'm not playing TS3 at the moment, but I'll definitely come back and download this when I start up again.
Thank you! That's exactly the look I am trying to achieve with this island. Here are a couple of extra screenshots I took while playing:

This should be the final version of my new world, Crescent Cove. It's a small barrier island neighborhood backed by huge sand dunes, complete with houses and rabbitholes. I've done what I could to give the dunes a very natural feel with the succession of the ecology, and I hope you'll agree the effect is very pretty. Special lots by me include the lighthouse keeper's home, the Church of the Golden Gnome, Crescent Cove Historical Society (based on the one I did for Hatchet Falls), Motel Sleezopolis, Whalemart, and Crescent Cove Community Day (a library for children/toddlers). Credits:House Creators From MTS: Brighten11Calisimsung999plasticboxL-naathenashavocSims3AddictedPlease note that this world requires RIVERVIEW, or else City Hall will not show up since I used the smaller Riverview object. Some lots (I think 2) also use these textures:Paint on Paint by guatla http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=353357I also use all the stuff from the store in my game, so I recommend that you install the sets from the store stuff thread to avoid things like a few missing doors/windows/bookshelves. Get it HERE.
ETA: Someone uploaded the Riverview objects separately in Peasantry, you can get them here if you don't have Riverview but want the Riverview objects and rabbitholes, like the City Hall: http://uploadmirrors.com/download/19QEKVHW/Riverview_objects_only.zip ETA 5/4/10: Updated the file for the hood to fix some static errors and a disconnected road. Redownload.

Has anyone else been having trouble with uninstalling old test neighborhoods from the game? I used the launcher to do this, which predictably failed to work. Is there another method for burninating/uninstalling a world for those of us who want to replace them after fixing old errors?
ETA: I managed to fix the problem I was having, but the question still stands because the launcher is stupid and sucks.

Seeing that this has been a problem in some of the other lots uploaded here, has anyone had an issue with the stealth stairs used in this lot, or was this, too, potentially broken with the patch/WA? If so I can upload a version with a regular hella-long staircase to replace it, but it takes a long time for the sims to reach the bottom.

This glitch does lead to some amusing screenshots, though. In my game the only hacks I have are awesomemod, and I am only having a problem with this one sim, which I think was borked somehow while in CAS. Hopefully a solution to the other problems will help me here as well.

I've been having the same issue, and it isn't related to overheating. Could any of this possibly be a bug linked to an event like pausing/unpausing the game? For me this happens during regular gameplay, not while in CAS.

Remember, these lots need Riverview to work.
You could always just take the school out and have the kids actually skill during the day instead of being useless. You won't get to choose their trait when they age, but you can always cheat to change that.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Hatchet Falls Lots and Updates

I thought I would upload the lots for Hatchet Falls separately for anyone who wants them but isn't interested in the entire neighborhood. A number of these lots have been tweaked and updated with fixes and changes, so if you have Hatchet Falls I would recommend you download these as well. My apologies for the large image size; my game runs in a large resolution and I can't be bothered to futz around with the pictures for an hour after spending so much time on the actual neighborhood. THESE LOTS NEED RIVERVIEW TO WORK -- Please see the hatchet falls thread for download requirements The Church of the Golden Gnome:
Updated to function as a library so that there's a point to the lot. If you don't want your sims learning things in a church or going there to study, just delete the bookcases. The lot also has a picnic/buffet and a fishing spot with angelfish and deathfish. http://ellatorture.moreawesomethanyou.com:8080/other/HatchetFalls/Church%20of%20the%20Golden%20Gnome.rarWhalemart:Contains the grocery store, the bookstore, and the spa all in one monster lot to rule them all. Updated to include the spa for the job opportunities and because the sims still roll wants for it. Minor tweaks made to the parking lot; if you don't already have the version with the spa you should download this one. I will update it in its own already existing thread. Hatchet Bay Beach:My take on the local beach. Less California, more East Coast, more pampas grass. Includes a telescope added to the playground, multiple chess sets, coffee/juice bar, and an easel for your artistic sims so that there is something to actually do at the beach other than plan a wedding. Various objects have been "upgraded" by the local mad scientist; I don't know if this will be included in the package, but in my game there is a bonus mood effect from using some of the grills, chairs and benches. http://ellatorture.moreawesomethanyou.com:8080/other/HatchetFalls/Hatchet%20Bay%20Beach.rarScience Center: this will be updated in its own thread, but I made some minor tweaks to fix a weird bug with the false garden above ground. Central Park: This park has been rebuilt to look wilder and more rural; I've updated it so the game will recognize it as a large park lot type rather than a small park and draw more sims. http://ellatorture.moreawesomethanyou.com:8080/other/HatchetFalls/Hatchet%20Falls%20Central%20Park.rarMotel Sleezopolis: For your romantic one night stand. Includes super classy wedding suite! In the game this lot counts as a community pool. Note the single tasteful room for those who can't stand the eye bleed. http://ellatorture.moreawesomethanyou.com:8080/other/HatchetFalls/Hotel%20Sleezopolis.rar

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Hatchet Falls: Sunset Valley, Redefined (UPDATED W/ SIMS)
|

I started playing the Calendar family yesterday and I must say I like Hatchet Falls a lot. I did notice, though, that the Leftover Autumn Salad in thier fridge spoils while they are eating it (causing mom Calendar to run to the bathroom to throw up a while later). Not that I need that "fixed" or anything, just a head's up to others so they'll know to simply delete it and prepare fresh food if they're playing that family.
Eta: I've been continuing with the Calendar family, and I've noticed some oddities. I'm wondering if it's just me.
1. Some "wild" plants are unharvestable, though they are displaying "Harvest" as their growth state. The only option I get on them is "view". I have noticed this in 240 Sunnyside Blvd (I wanted those peppers!) and the apple trees at the school. Other wild plants are functioning normally, such as the tomatoes and potatoes at 260 Sunnyside Blvd and the trees in the park.
2. The Westley todlers somehow aged to teens though the Calendar boy is still a child and the girl is still a todler.
Is it intentional that the watermelon plants growing on 270 Sunnyside Blvd are Foul and Putrid quality?
1. This is normal. I've been having the same thing happen in my game. They seem to alternate being harvestable every other day, so you could try that (IIRC). It's annoying, but right now there is no fix for it. It's also possible that another sim got there first. 2. Update Awesomemod, and enable the option that prevents unplayed households from aging faster with the aweconfig tool. 3. Yes. Beggars can't be choosers.

The Computar Fund sounds worthwhile as your minions need to be able to provide fast, efficient service. We all stand to benefit by that. I am less convinced about the need for beer, unless it is for the minions to help them work.
Beer helping minions work? There is something really wrong with that statement. In my experience, the moar beer consumed by minions, the LESS work you get out of 'em... no beer until the minions have finished their assigned tasks. Beer is what fuels my brother and most other roofers. The more beer I pour into him, the more work he does on my apartment. Beer makes everything better. SUPPORT THE ELLATRUE BEER FUND. Because freedom is not free, and neither are drunk related lulz.
