Did you search the register for everything "Electronics Arts" and "Sims" related? There must still be entries in there. Uninstall the EA Downloader too if you can.
477  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) on: 2009 August 01, 20:00:16
Get the patches first then worry about Awesomemod.

Do NOT install the patch that comes with Razor. Just install the Razor version of the game itself.

1.2 patch

http://na.llnet.eadownloads.ea.com/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.2.7.00002_from_1.0.631.00002.exe

1.3 patch

http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/sims3_1.3.24.00002_from_1.2.7.00002.exe

Or you can let the EA Download Manager via the Sims 3 Launcher do it. You don't need to log in or a CD in the drive to use it.
478  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why aren't my mods working? on: 2009 August 01, 19:50:16
Two things I can think of, may sound obvious but humor me.

First, what is the exact path of your resource.cfg? Should be C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Resource.cfg or something along those lines depending on your OS and if you installed to the default directories etc.

Second, can you open your resource.cfg in a text editor and post it here?

I don't understand why the mods would not be working. They are all .package files correct?
479  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) on: 2009 August 01, 19:39:02
If not, then how to do a hard reset or whatever it is called? I'm fairly young (NOT 12) and confused.

Reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows? Well yes there's that but it's rather a drastic step to take. Tongue
480  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) on: 2009 August 01, 19:21:02
Well if you can't uninstall it but just delete the files then it's still going to leave entries in the Windows registry but hopefully it will let you reinstall.
481  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Work/school zergswarms and game performance on: 2009 August 01, 19:17:50
For what it's worth, I tried ISM's 'wolfrun' concept, left the neighborhood running for about a day, and came back to all these same problems, lobotomized sims taking forever to go take a pee or whatever SupCom told them to do, unable to get to school or work or anything.  At times, fps looked like about 3.   I tried removing everything but awesome, tried lowering the graphics settings, tried a single sim fambly, tried gassing their asses, tried gassing more of their asses, and there was no change in the performance of that neighborhood.

I started a brand new neighborhood and this was not the case, everyone in the same household, with the same mods (awesome, indie, couple various xml tunings), went about their business fairly efficiently.  Haven't played it long enough to tell if it will reproduce the problem, so, very well could be voodoo.

I have had this experience as well but I noticed similar things when my old neighborhood got large even before Indie. I just think Indie on a wolfrun running fast speed just speeds up the process of create of LOT of sims in a short time.

Honestly, in my experience with this game there's a threshold of the number of sims in your neighborhood and I don't know what it is exactly, it may vary for some people, but once you get beyond that threshold it's just BFVFS territory with terrible lag that turning graphics settings down does not help and lobotomized townies who can't even take their asses to the toilet.

I think Indie just facilities speeding this process up by a great deal, but imo it can happen to all neighborhoods sooner or later if there aren't some means of population control in place.
482  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) on: 2009 August 01, 19:03:50
Gotcha. Will be trying those, thanks.  Smiley

And Update:
I found the rt.patch file and it said, "  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\skuversion.txt'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\TS3.exe'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\GraphicsCards.sgr'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\GraphicsRules.sgr'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\Default.ini'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\Sims3.ini'
  DFC Update Complete!
  Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\Sims3Launcher.ini'
  DFC Update Complete!"

Anyone kind enough to tell me what this could mean?
And I have long since overwritten the original .exe and dll.host files (as was instructed in the Razor torrent) so is there a download to retrieve the originals?

I have not downloaded the no censor patch; What I do have installed is the Delphy's Slider hack, Ingredient Override from MTS2, a set of default skins/eyes, hairs... I think AM is the only 'mod' I had on it but hey, I'm computer illiterate.  Lips sealed

Plus. I also found a whole set of rt.patch files in folders like.. C2457-C40569 or whatever the hell they were named. I also found a Disk1 file but couldn't open it. After searching I found a Sims 3 Forum thread about this but the instructions seemed vague and pointless. :||||

Is this the faulty file?
Applying DFC Update for 'Game\Bin\skuversion.txt'
Error: err0031 - Invalid file found

If so, how to get that shit off?

It means somewhere along the way your either modified those lists of files or downloaded some mods that replaced or modified them.

Anytime you mess with a mod that is not a .package and in some way shape or form modifies or replaces an original file the game installed always make a backup copy.

The patches are very picky and expect all the files in the games directory to be the same versions it expects in a fresh install. If you even make minor tweaks to an ini file (a configuration text file that allows you to modify various settings) it will complain and refuse to install.

That razor patch in the directory updates 1.0.631.00002 to 1.0.632.00002. I'm not even sure it's necessary. It may do more harm than good. The first patch Sims3_1.2.7.00002_from_1.0.631.00002.exe and then the second one is sims3_1.3.24.00002_from_1.2.7.00002.exe. I don't even know if you can patch from 1.0.632.00002.

Again, if there is any way on god's green earth you can reinstall the damned thing, even if it means installing a second copy of the game to another directory and then moving your saves over, I would opt for that. You've modified too many files, perhaps have not backed them up, and are not tech savvy enough to wade through all the headache of getting it to work. You need a clean slate and DON'T mess with anything after you reinstall. Do a fresh install. Do not apply the razor patch, don't change anything. Apply the first patch, then apply the second patch. Then if and when you modify things afterwards keep a back up copy.

Also don't do unnecessary things. Don't get a nocd crack or a no censor mod if you are using awesome mod. It already provides that functionality without changing any of the games files. In general if at all possible stick with package mods and try not to mess with mods that change the game's original files unless you know what you are doing and make a backup copy.
483  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Plight of the Torsoless on: 2009 August 01, 18:17:01
Okay I just had another male generated who does have a body. The interesting thing is this one is wearing a two piece, separate top and bottom. The other two when I put them in a dresser, the one piece full body every day outfit came up by default, but there was no outfit highlighted.

Edit: And yet another sim generates without a torso, full body outfit category when I throw him into the dresser.

So far this has been my experience. Any new townie sims the games generated post patch that did not exist prior to it that are male and generate in a full body outfit category end up with no outfit and thus no torso.

I have seen new sims generate with tops and bottoms, have yet to see a new one generate with a full body outfit. Prior to the patch I would get them spawning in those god forsaken overalls and mandarin coat all the time. Now they just have nothing.

Seems this is a reproducable bug too. At least for me.

Well, people wanted no more spawned townies in overalls, I guess this is one way to solve that problem. Tongue
484  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Plight of the Torsoless on: 2009 August 01, 17:54:54
This was post-patch.  I doubt it's "all male sims created post patch," but I strongly suspect it's something new introduced by the patch.  I'd never seen it before.

 - Gus

Well in a normal neighborhood most people would have a full neighborhood and probably wouldn't have too many new sims being generated, but since I wanted to test Pescado's story mode out on a clean one and see how it reacted I got rid of everyone. So far two for two men the game created have no torso and are also not wearing any outfit, so it's not just an invisible outfit.

I will try and test further.
485  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 17:53:10
I've been sitting watching al of you trying to beat the new patch into submission and got to wondering something.

Are you trying to patch the 'real' legal version of the game or oone of the pirated versions... could this be behind some of the problems encountered?

Considering there's A LOT of people on the Exchange forums bitching about it and you need to have a legal valid key to post there I think that pretty much shoots your theory down. Nice try though. Tongue
486  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Plight of the Torsoless on: 2009 August 01, 17:33:48
Okay Gus, question. I notice the date on this thread was 7/29, so just after the patch. Did this townie happen pre or post patch?

Because I never had this happen before then I started a new neighborhood, destroyed all humans, moved a new sim in, EAxis story mode generated a couple of families so far and both males generated are torsoless.

I thought maybe a messed up outfit or something so I selected one and did the dresser command on him. When it goes to the selection of outfits, no outfit is highlighted where usually the current one he is wearing would be. When I try to use the design tool on him it says he has no style and a style (outfit?) needs to be selected first.

I wonder if this is a patch induced bug that new male sims created by the story engine end up without a torso. Ugh.
487  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I CANNOT install the new patch (1.3) on: 2009 August 01, 17:25:32
Okay let's try this approach. Have you downloaded the no censor blur patch? Anything that messes with the camera? Otherwise any sort of 'mod' that was not a .package file (ie it replaces a game file).

Do you have a nocd crack?

If you modified any file from the original install then you need to restore the original file. Like if you used a cracked TS3.exe and TS3Host.dll then you need to put back the ones that were there before you put the crack in.

Honestly, if you still have the original install disc/files I would just reinstall the game. You'll still have your saves as long as you choose to keep them when it prompts you when you uninstall.
488  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New Build of awsome mod causes my game to crash to desktop. NOT THE DON"T RE on: 2009 August 01, 17:20:35
EA Patch is reported to be very borked up I do not want to install it until they make it good.

Based on what? Hearsay?

Plenty of people have patched successfully but human nature being what it is the ones who have not are making much more noise than the ones who have.

A lot of the loudest noise is coming from the Exchange, MTS and TSR whose average users are quite frankly not the most savvy to begin with. And lord knows many in this community love an excuse to kermitflail.

Why don't you just try it? You won't lose you save games. Worst that can happen is you have to reinstall and just apply the first patch. Eh.

If you have troubles with it you can always ask around for a solution.

I swear all this hysteria over the patch is scaring off people from even trying to apply the damned thing when they don't even know if they'll have problems, they just think they will because they read a bunch of other people going on about it so.
489  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New Build of awsome mod causes my game to crash to desktop. NOT THE DON"T RE on: 2009 August 01, 07:49:00
Pescado, for what did you created that darned "use the latest build, moroon" check?
I do not want to update awesome mod! I want to use the old one that works in my game!

ENOUGH of this! It's been talked about and debated in multiple threads over and over ad nauseum.

It's his mod so it goes by his rules. Use it or lose it!
490  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 31, 16:21:32
Thank you so much for this link! I hadn't seen it before. I can finally get in there and fix the gender preference - yay! I have some gay sims, and if I turn relationships on with Indiestone, they *still* hook up with women, even after only flirting with men. I'm going to use NW to modify the preference and see if it fixes that issue.

Now, if only I could get IS to stop remarrying my sims after I rename them back to their original names. I prefer to keep their names, but the only options are to pick either, male, or female.

I also have a teen who went steady with his gf listed as married! Is that a bug? Or just the way it works? It even says that her family are his in-laws now, which is kind of weird for a teenager.

Indie seems hell bent on forcing sims to be hetero no matter what in my experience. Somehow I doubt the gender preference thing will help because I think it ignores it. I know I have had sims who have flirted with the same sex more than the opposite which should set that preference value, but Indie has paired them with the opposite sex regardless. Let me know if it works for you.

Quote
Edit: oooh, there's a key for zodiac on NW - wonder if the game actually does *anything* with that? Most are all set to Aries, although some of those born in game have a different sign.

This, like the "Species" value is likely something for an expansion. Tongue
491  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New Build of awsome mod causes my game to crash to desktop. NOT THE DON"T REPORT on: 2009 July 31, 16:17:31
Out of curiousity why are so many people using that script error thing? It's meant as a debug tool and those messages won't mean anything to 99% of the people playing the game.

Is this some sort of BBistic ZOMG I will never use that hair but I just have to have it just because thing?
492  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Schrödinger's Baby on: 2009 July 30, 15:53:19
Now that cooked food no longer influences gender, we'll see what happens.  It's much more difficult to eat fruit accidentally now.

 - Gus

Is that something the patch changed? My sims are always eating fruit in their inventory. Garlic too and it gives them bad breath.  Roll Eyes

I think Pes added the eat food from inventory if hungry bit to SC a while back, at least mine seem to now while they were out stone hunting unless I was totally hallucinating it.

Personally, I think the whole fruit thing is stupid and panders to BBism where there were persistent rumors with TS2 that if you ate spaghetti you would have twins bla bla.
493  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.3 Released on: 2009 July 30, 15:37:39
Uh if you patch to 1.3 then restore an old 1.27 no cd cracked version of the exe you are reverting to an old exe file and thus defeating the purpose of the patch.

You're still running 1.27 so there's no point in even bothering going through the trouble unless you care about the few other minor things EA updated like burying some blurb in the readme that Adaptive Antialiasing doesn't work well with this game on ATI cards.  Roll Eyes
494  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.3 Released on: 2009 July 30, 07:04:18
Why in heaven's name would you apply the French patch to the English version and what genius at EA allowed such a thing to be possible?

As for 'installing' Awesomemod you don't need the Delphy tool. That's for the lazy. Just drop the damned thing in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages or the Hacks subdirectory under packages and call it good. Make sure you have the resource.cfg though. The Delphy tool should install that.

Now as for the Delphy tool not recognizing it, it should recognize a package file.

Please tell me you unzipped it after you downloaded it. Tongue
495  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.3 Released on: 2009 July 30, 06:32:59
NOTE: You HAVE to run your game without any Mods after you re-installed and patched it, that way your game will create again the files to run properly, after you do that, exit the game and restore your backed-up data, you're also free now to re-add the mods that you want, but you need to watch out for the updates of the Core Mods only, or the game will crash (How blessing is EA Cool).

Voodoo

Well, I discovered what my issue was, I had removed the goddamn EAcrap from the library file, and had to replace it all.

Voodoo

Mine bitched about a file not being found, so I put the pre-made families back into the library, and it installed just fine.

Voodoo.

Good lord where is Miss Cleo when you need her?
496  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Stuff I would have noticed earlier if I weren't so stupid. on: 2009 July 30, 06:28:40
The bubble bath will totally wipe away negative stressed moodlets. I had a writer sim who routinely would get stressed to significant degrees and the bubble bath always saved her. Of course I also added the rubber ducky for the extra bonus. Wink

She'd even get wants to take a bubble bath. I never had her bathe til tranquil though, seems this might be some new thing the patch enabled. I just had her take a regular length bubble bath and she'd be good to go and get back to the writing in no time. This was with a cheaper tub too.
497  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New peggy hairs. They doesn't replace anything on: 2009 July 30, 02:32:59
Please. Do you even have to wonder? I give her a week tops until she comes out with a 'donation' hair. I am sure all these sites are dying for more donations since TS2 is going the way of the dodo bird for the most part.

Funny thing is, I looked at the image for that new "free" hair on her front page and it said "Rosesims2" on it so for a second I thought it was TS2. Tongue

498  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: White recolor of town hall(Updated and non-replacement) on: 2009 July 30, 02:26:36
Yeah in theory I think this is possible, I've gotten up to the point of modifying the .dds but I'm having trouble extracting the mesh to milkshape but that's probably my lack of experience in that (need plugins maybe) so I will search more at simlogical for more advice. The only thing is making sure it looks good zooming camera out and that it lines up with everything else.

Nanacake are you just doing a recolor? If so you shouldn't need to mess with Milkshape at all. But if you are editing the mesh or replacing it with the new one then you will definitely need plugins for it. Wes Howe's is the main one. There's some good tutorials over at MTS. Also Simlogical and CustomSims3 are good spots with a people who are really in the know.
499  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 July 29, 04:27:49
Is that what the resource.cfg is - a traffic controller?  I'm sure it helps to move Mods out of the Electronic Arts folder.  Things are susceptible to burning chicken feathers in there.

Yeah, pretty much. It tells the game where to look for the mods and sets the priority it gaves the files in those directories. You can edit it with a simple text editor, even Notepad.

I'm not sure if it will take a whole path though like C:\blabla\bla etc or if it will only allow a subdirectory of Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

He had the excuse of no bald hair before, but now he doesn't. Unless he's waiting for a long bear or something. Tongue
