It was like navigating a nonsensical maze made up of cheap, plastic children's furniture with rounded corners and primary colors. See, that's how the MAC appears to me. I think this may be more a case of familiarity with one's own system. To me, the MAC gave away a lot of instant functionality so as to look good. One of the things I dislike about Windoze 7 is the increased likeness to the MAC and how getting in to do real tweaking is now buried several layers deeper than in XP. It feels like being wrapped in rainbow cottonwool and being protected from my own hardware.

Okay, so I took out the CC completely, but then the game was really slow for some reason.
I added some CC in, just about 90 things, mostly clothing, hair and accessories and NO custom furniture and things were fine, but then the game crashes without warning now. There's no glitching or anything before it happens.
I also realized that every other time the game crashes, majority of the CC comes up invisible or broken.
Not sure what to do at this point, one causes insane lagging and slow speed it's un-playable and another makes a crash. Either way, I can't play.
Thank god for that. Now go away.

I have Moryrie's packages, I am updated to 1.29, and have no issues. No more from you Claeric, I will allow these two posts to stay, but please remember you are still domed. If you have an issue with your cc, post about that rather than blame something that is working.

I 'Save As' a new game every time I save, I just change the number on the end of the filename. When it gets to about 30, I delete 75% of the games in between first and last. It gives me a chance to go back to a save before corruption, if I notice some. I save every 12-24 hours game time. I am sick to death of replaying sims so I just have to wear the long save times. I usually have a wee Flash game going on the laptop for when sims is saving.

I figured out my problem
"the Awesome mod is here C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages"
My problem was I was trying to install the mods the OLD WAY... since I haven't played the Sims for 2 years...
Once I put them in the C:\Users\Ibcrootbeer\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 the mod loaded fine...
BUT, still can't use the updater.
Once again, for emphasis, the OLD WAY TM works just fine. I use it. YOU DID IT WRONG.

My problem was I had it installed correctly, the old way... Didn't know the modding method changed since The Sims 3 came out.
Still have my Updater files in C:/Windows and now have the patch in the correct spot, and the updater doesn't work...
But you were right I didn't have the mods installed correctly >.>
Repatching (to overwrite the crack files) and CORRECTLY installing Awesome mod fixes that "Out of Date Mod" Message
I willfully accept the title Dipshit for trying to Mod the Sims in an outdated fashion.
/facepalm
From the audience: OH NO YOU DIDN'T! See, the 'old' way works just fine, I use it myself. So you're twice, or thrice, a fool?

TS3 is also vicious about fragmenting hard drives. I defrag at least weekly.
Sometimes a game reinstall works. Maybe some files have got a bit corrupt or something, who knows, but as a last resort this can sometimes help. I have also recently downloaded a small custom world to see if that makes a difference. I've had CTDs with that, but knew some of them were my fault. e.g. I deleted the science rabbithole by accident, didn't realise what it was.

Since I updated to the latest EA patch my Unicorn now looks like a normal horse. The game still considers it a Unicorn, it just doesn't look like one anymore. Anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it? Had the issue. Previously, I had managed to move the sim and unicorn from one instance of Appaloosa plains to another, and the unicorn kept its horn. When I moved sim and 'corn to a custom world, it did not. I don't know if the unicorn kept its other unicornly attributes, after it kept running through the house I decided to leave horses out of the world.

I've read the last 10 days worth of posts, don't see anything in here about this: vanilla AM loads game fine (No CD check working), a modified one does not. And no, I did not change the No CD check. Left it enabled. Deleted cache files.
What else stupid could I be doing wrong?
This post is back here because you are not experiencing an awesomemod bug. You are experiencing PEBKAC.

I was put off posting much at Simbology when I realised it was being run by the Brynnistas. It was like they had taken TJ hostage. There are times I have wished Pes was fluffier, and both those times have been when a top modder takes umbrage at him, stops uploading to MATY, and goes off to a Brynne type of site instead.
Yeah, I often wondered if TJ missed the intelligent people and conversation here and regretted leaving. I don't think he did anything remarkable hackwise once he left here, instead he drowned in a sea of emoties. I'm surprised he kept the site going as long as he did, although going by his post count he wasn't that involved. Still he was so nice and polite he probably did it for the Brynnistas. We shall have to post watches nearer the time, don't want people sneaking back here.

Capital letters are made by the shift key. MATYans have a fondness for seeing capital letters both at the beginning of sentences and of proper nouns. With the framework, the method changed a while back. Initially the framework went in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. Then it was moved to the 'My Documents' folder. Sometimes people get confused and end up with a half-arsed implementation between the two. All content packages should go in the packages folder, wherever you put your framework. Personally I still use the original method, no need to change, it works fine. With the method I use, I do have to drop the d3dx9_31.dll into the ...\Game\Bin folder for the basegame and each EP. Your resource.cfg file should have enough levels that it can see content within sub-folders e.g. PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package And so on. This is the content of my root folder. You will note the Mods folder.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Woozel's Whotsit - a small park
|
on: 2011 December 30, 08:18:57
|
This park is dedicated to Soozel because I offered to make a lot for her new hood and she said she sucked at parks. It was going to be quite a formal park for a fairly middle-class area, but instead it turned into a bit of a Kiwi park, although there is a more formal sunken area near the front. It was also going to have just black and white flowers, but this is the sims and I forgot you can't change the colour of the plants. So I thought maybe blue and white, but no, there aren't many blue flowers. So finally it became a green, white and purple garden; with teal accents to match the fence. The lot is 30x20, with the short edge aligned to the road. Only the entrance is fenced, it would be easy enough to put on a larger lot and expand and I kept all the edges free for that reason. There is a children's playground, a chess table, a barbecue area, toilets and fishing. There are two fishing spawners; one rare and one common. Two also of butterfly spawners; one Monarchs, one other. The terrain paint around the edges has been blended into the normal terrain, so it shouldn't stand out too much as a green rectangle. The pictures were taken near dawn, I should have waited for a bit more light, but meh. Had to rejig this area as the chess table and chairs needed so much room. Download ETA: A couple more pictures.
