476  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 July 29, 13:11:08
You can add screen size on the command line (details in the readme that comes with the game), but it's easier (and permanent) to do it within the game.  Go to the graphics options and pick the size that's the same as your widescreen.  If that size doesn't exist, then you have to edit the graphicsrules.scr file in your games ...TSDATA/RES/CONFIG folder to add the proper settings.  Do a search on 'graphicrules.scr' here to find older messages with complete details on how to do this.

If she doesn't come anymore, you probably have some version of TJ's Visitor Controller in your game -- that bans the Gypsy by default. In order to get the Genie lamp, one of the sims on the lot has to max their enthusiasm in a hobby.  She'll then show up sometime in the next couple of days to drop the lamp off. The VC lets her drop it off and then chases her away. Smiley

478  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 July 28, 18:41:53
FT messed with self-feeding in a lot of people's games; other players have reported no problems.

I've seen a lot more instances of sims going off to 'stuff face' since FT. No problems with regular foods, but I haven't seen so much face stuffing in ages, maybe ever.
479  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 July 28, 14:10:49
That happened with a bad crack, I think -- try getting a new version from gamecopyworld and see if that fixes the problem.  Also, make sure you start the game from the no-cd.exe, and not from the launcher.
480  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How long does Louis Aspir live anyway? on: 2008 July 28, 14:08:58
I've just played a 3 day cycle of the Aspirs. Louis was 108 when I started. On 3 consecutive nights he has beaten Death and kept his life. He is now 111. Does that damn genie give never-ending life? This is the first time I've ever had a sim win against Death and this is 3 times in a row.

I played them almost 10 days and Louis was still hanging around, so I used Inge's 'days left' shrub to find out what's going on.  He may not have ever-lasting life, but at that point he still had 12 days left, which would make him something like 140 by the time he actually died.  I used TJ's blender to knock 9 days off his lifespan, and after 3 more days he did  die normally.
481  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: couple of problems on business lots: household visiting & manager skilling on: 2008 July 26, 13:36:24
I'm beginning to think that FT broke the comfort stuff at some point -- I've noticed that no matter the comfort rating of a chair, a sim's comfort level doesn't rise if they're sitting in the chair sewing.  Same chair by a desk or table and their comfort goes up.  At the sewing machine, it stays static.  Weird.
482  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Originally a "Power Outage" in the game? Could modders plz help get it back? on: 2008 July 25, 21:09:26
Yea, the power outages were really caused by the fire-breathing toddlers...
483  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: Sims jumping when interacting with visitors on: 2008 July 25, 19:38:38
Turn on the testing cheats (if you don't know how, see the FAQ here), and when the sim jumps the game will generate an error log.  Post it here for the awesome folks to examine and help pinpoint your problem.
484  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Okay to do Uni-type things without Uni EP? on: 2008 July 25, 19:15:12
No problems with either in later games. As you said, stuff gets carried forward through later expansions -- it's just not active if it doesn't find the earlier expansion present.  Any post-Uni EP has the resurrection code in it, and FT even includes an alternate resurrection method through the Genie.

485  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: IKEA Home Stuff Objects Fix (Missing FT Functions Enabled) + IKEA TV Screen Fix on: 2008 July 24, 14:40:09
Um, that's what THIS fix (first message in this thread) is for -- making the IKEA stuff FT-compatible.
486  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Date gifts on: 2008 July 23, 23:08:35
So I don't see any reason to put up with the slow motion and squealing alarm any longer than I have to.

FYI, jfade has a nice little hack over on DJS that silences the alarms, and just pops up a box telling you the alarm has gone off and the police/fire dept. has been called.
487  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Macro Control: Macrotastics on: 2008 July 22, 12:03:52
On the non-pet front, could there be skillinators for dancing, pool , and meditation, since those have hidden skill levels?

The skillinator for dancing already exists, since sims can get a scholarship out of high dancing skill. It may only be active for teens (and maybe kids) though.

Actually, that 'cat' looks like Inge's teleporter cat. Smiley

489  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Why doesn't the Hire More Employees hack work in my game?! on: 2008 July 21, 19:04:23
Also, Monique's original computers have not been updated for FT, as she has vanished from the modding community -- if you're using the BV (or earlier) versions, they're known to cause a bunch of problems.  You can find FT versions updated by other folks here in the Peasantry forum.
490  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Why doesn't the Hire More Employees hack work in my game?! on: 2008 July 21, 17:05:34
Go to simwardrobe, and get the Hack Conflict Detection Utility. Run it to see if you have conflicting hacks in your game.

Yea, I see it just fine, right there in the list of ceiling lamps.
492  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Some Refuse To Die on: 2008 July 21, 15:42:35
Alexx mentioned that there's a hidden +5 on hunger and some other motive (energy?) recently with FT, which explains our townie-killing woes.

Huh -- that may explain why I haven't had any dormie deaths since installing FT, in spite of some going full red on everything.

Nice!  I'll have to yoink it when I get home...

Yea, that would work. Smiley
495  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hit Break Point Primitive Object Error? on: 2008 July 19, 02:30:08
The stuck object remover is part of the Awesomeware hacks found a few forums down. Also, the odds are that it's a bad hack or mod causing the problem -- I'd suspect some other hack related to refrigerators perhaps, since you said you removed the ones that change the dinnerware and cans. Could also be a hack conflict, so you should go to www.simwardrobe.com and get the Hack Conflict Detection Utility (HCDU), a very valuable tool to have if you're going to put custom content and hacks in your game.

If no conflicts show up, then you should remove all your CC, and see if the problem still exists.  If it does, you'll probably have to reinstall something.  If it doesn't, then you know a hack/mod/other cc is causing the issue, and you should do a binary search to narrow down the culprit.
496  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hit Break Point Primitive Object Error? on: 2008 July 18, 21:12:49
That's the standard error log you get when you force an error on an object; it doesn't usually tell anything about why the object is borked.  I'm not familiar with what the wiki says, but turning 'moveobjects on' in the cheat box usually lets you delete stuck plates and the like.
497  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: While out hiking, Jake met... on: 2008 July 18, 18:50:07
The statue is big, but there's usually enough room on the existing comm lots to put it somewhere.  Like the lot you talked about (the pagoda lot with the food stand and the wall) -- the ninja statute fits on the right-hand side of the entrance gate right in front, not far from the phone booth.  On the Lucky Shrine lot, you can stick it between the bathroom and the gift shop.  On the 'tea party' lot (with the two tea pavilions and food stand and zen garden), the only place it really fits is at the back of the lot, and then you have to remove one of the park benches.

The only lot I haven't found a good place for it is the hot springs one.
498  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Date gifts on: 2008 July 17, 18:50:11
I'm alarmed by the butterfly/bug jar -- that thing is HUGE!
499  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Allow strays on community lots on: 2008 July 17, 14:19:27
Just FYI, but if you're using TwoJeffs' Visitor Controller, I believe its default is to prevent strays on community lots. So if that loads after this, the VC will override it and still prevent the strays.

If you're not using the VC, never mind....
500  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 July 17, 14:14:05
I'm thinking specifically of Inge's key hack and the one that keeps customers from whining about objects behind a gate.

Can you please remember which hack does that? The gate whiners annoy me to no end, especially when the majority of them are penniless freeloaders who wouldn't buy anything but just stand there complaining they can't flop into the shopkeeper's pool or waterballoon their kid.  Angry
