Neighborhood Terrain Surgery is detailed in the War Room.

Thank you so much. I will read it up over there then  Grin
Really appreciate everyone's help here.

454  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Why is the road missing? on: 2006 February 25, 04:35:40
I have no idea why that piece of my road disappear.
Is there any way to get it back?

Thank you. Instructions appreicated.I know nothing about neighbourhood terrian thanks. Interestingly, the cars still pass through Tongue

455  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Cow plants spawing tombstones with no owners... oh my! on: 2006 February 25, 02:51:48
Interesting enough, I deleted all the cowplants and the tombstones immediately stopped spawning. I put the cowplants back and it spawned one more ownerless tombstone and didn't make another. I'm now feeding them dormies to see if the ownerless tombstones will start appearing again.

All together, I've made 70k from selling the tombstones. XD

Seriously the way you are killing ur sims, arent u afraid ur game will explode?
456  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: what!? no next EP hint in OFB box? on: 2006 February 25, 02:50:33
Remember how we all said that the brazilians lied the other time? And it turns out they are correct. They did get the game early.
So could this Swiss thingy be the same?

I seriously wish I am Swiss now. Childish, yes but I still wish.  Embarrassed
457  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Change Neighborhoods? on: 2006 February 25, 02:49:04
I recently moved a large number of sims from 1 hood to another, it was easy (and done right)

1, move any sims you wish to keep onto 1 Lot (I was moving a few familys and didn't want them to lose their friends and family relations with the other familys, 1 lot takes care of that) (note you can backup your old hood first and then replace it with the backup after step 2, if you want)

2, Make a list of the names of Every Sim on the Lot and then package the Lot to a file

3, make new hood, install your packaged Lot - using clean installer and make sure you uncheck every sim that isn't on the Lot (so you won't get tagalongs)

4, plop it down where ever you want it and then exit

5, open the hood in simpe (with Theo's new nifty memory plugin already set up)

simpe - plugin directions
Plugins - Neighborhood Browser

pick your hood

then select (on the left)
Neighborhood/Memory (then select the neighborhood memory file on the right)

wait for it to do its loading thing

In plugin view - you will see down near the bottom (middle) "up" "down" "nuke all"  and below that(slightly to the right) "fix memorys" click it and it will fix all the memorys in that entire hood.

after clicking "fix memories" remember to hit "commit" (bottom right corner)
and then remember to "save"

6, enter your new hood and play  Grin
note - If you have more then 1 family on the Lot like I did then you need to move them out carefully (specially if you have more then 8 sims on the Lot like I did (thanks to that family size hack) I suggest having Inges teleporter plus, you can then have 1 sim move out and then move into a new home and then teleport (and move in) the rest of the family, repeat for each family.

easy and I have not had any trouble doing it this way, no extra character files or screwed up memorys and my familys all kept their relationsihips with friends and family Grin

Sleeplycat, your instructions look so simple that I am tempted to follow.
some quick questions

1. How about all those blasted townies and downtownies that my sims have made friends with? Do you shift them to the new hood too? 'cos you mentioned ur families kept all r/s with friends and families.
2. The memory plug in- what memories does it exactly fix? Does it delete all the memories of "meet xxx" where the "xxx" sim is not in that one packaged lot?
3. My neighbourhood is so crowded. I might have to squeeze 200 sims into one house? Is that even possible?
4. any other info I can read here about change of neighbourhoods? I did a search and only this came up.

Thks for ur help! Smiley
458  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 25, 02:36:45
I agree that the hair at that site posted (Rose Sims) is very pretty, but I worry that it won't look good once it's in the game.

As mentioned, their free hair does suck. So it depends on if you want to take the risk...Tongue
459  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 24, 09:41:38
Let's try a better contest: Who's the biggest miser here?

That's easy. Those who refuse to pay a single cent!  Wink

So how much has you spent? Perhaps we shld do a poll to see who's the champ is  Tongue

Uhh...lemme figure it out...

Prolly about $50 or so in the past month.

that's a lot. You won me Tongue
461  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 24, 06:09:20
Never mind, save the link and wait till your next payday!

Actually, I think I've bought enough stuff in the past couple of weeks that I will not be buying anything else for my game for a good while.

So how much has you spent? Perhaps we shld do a poll to see who's the champ is  Tongue
We seriously need a support group. Like I said, at the rate I am paying, my cc will cost almost as much as my game itself.
I wish I had a support group (my honest thought although I did mention before we need to be discreete haha)...I propose one to some people and they were like I am asking them to buy pirated simsgames or robbing a bank!  Sad
462  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 24, 05:19:39
Yeah, that site has a lot of nice looking hair.  Damn it.

* BlueSoup Must. Not. Buy.

I've got too many things happening in the next couple of weeks to afford any more downloads lol.  Tongue

It only looks nice bluesoup. Not sure about the paid ones but the free ones are simply horrible in the game especially men hais 009.
It has hideous transparency.

Concidentially, that is another cn website. The chinese are really talented at these! I love sunair and I am lucky I have a subscription to TSR to get every single one of her download... Undecided

Is the not dropping baby hack on floor here? I got the no baby harssessment hack but my baby still got dropped to the floor.

And if the baby is picked up while it was zzz, I got those silly zzz following the baby for the rest of the day.

Thks for heads up on the sitter mod. I am going to pick that up!  Roll Eyes

465  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Memories- do they give my sims a slow death? on: 2006 February 23, 13:58:33
thanks. I know all that. But what I need to know is : Will too many memories corrupt a sim?  Makes the sim cranky or stuff like that?
I cite the vamp as example because he lives forever and already had 20 frigging pages of memories!  Shocked
Too many pages of memories will not "corrupt" a sim in the sense that the game will explode in a big fiery ball visible from space, but may start to manifest symptoms of bad memory access (Too Many Iterations resets) anytime the affected sim attempts to perform various memory-access functions. With TMI now requiring 10x as many interations as before, this may take awhile, and when it does, it should be easy enough to stop, for instance, modifying the actions to only check the first 150-odd memories. All in all, the problem is presently only theoretical, but the possibility exists. It is not, however, fatal and can be repaired if it manifests.

In theory, a maximum number of memory tokens may exist at around 30000. This is potentially reachable and at this point, bad things happen.

Thank you JMP for being so awesome  Tongue

With ur assuring reply, I feel sure that my beloved vamp will live forever. Previously I have 'locked' him at home to prevent him from meeting too many people and such...

I wish there is a hack or somethng to nuke all those "meet xxx" memories. To me, they are 100% useless.

ETA: Since you mention the possibilty of "bad things" happen, I think I will clone my sim in case it happens . So yeah, for those who wants their vamps to live as long as yourself, better make a clone of the sim  Wink i

It depends. If she lives in the city like Shanghai, she is noy going to get by with just makiing profit off that site. Shanghai is very expensive.
And she does have more free stuff than member downloads. I mean if its really* to maintain her site thats why she need US9.95, I might cough up the $? But does she really need that much money - is what I have been wondering...and her site is soooo....slow.

I am not sure of hosting fees. I have no idea how expensive they can be.
Can anyone enlighten me? I haven't run a website before...

Avg. Shanghai salary is about the same. And, I mean, $10,000 is the avg. salary of the nouveau riche in China. If she gets just 100 people to fork out a subscription each month, that's about $12,000 a year. She's frigging rich by Chinese standards. And I'm betting that she gets more than just 100 subscriptions a month, judging by how ubiquitous her content is online.

And I get that this stuff does involve some investment of time and whatnot, but honestly, it's not that difficult - cutting and pasting and some smart image manipulation. If you have some talent, it comes out a bit better. Still stands that it's not that difficult. It doesn't sit well with me that doctors make less than she does. Maybe that's why healthcare is down the sh*thole over there. At least EA has developers developing code and whatnot. That's definitely a heck of a lot more involved than meshing or texturing. I can do meshing and textures, but I sure as hell can't develop complex AI code. And the code developing is bound to take a whole lot longer than a few hours fiddling w/ pictures.

So yeah, I have never, ever paid for a TS2 subscription, and I am definitely proud that I haven't.

I am disturbed you think that average Shanghai salary is US$2k a year.So I did a check with CNN daily http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-03/15/content_425174.htm
and realised that you are right. So what's up with the starbucks and Gucci in Shanghai? It makes me wonder who is buying them. Thanks for showing me the salary of Chinese. I had the impression that it is as high as folks in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Korea etc.

In that case, you might just be right she making big bucks.
467  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Memories- do they give my sims a slow death? on: 2006 February 23, 05:30:37
The Manual writes this:

Vampires:

* Don't reflect in mirrors.

* can turn other sims to vampires with the Bite Neck social.

* Don't age; they remain in their current age group forever.

This is written about adult vampires. Until after college, the kids grow as usual.
thanks. I know all that. But what I need to know is : Will too many memories corrupt a sim?  Makes the sim cranky or stuff like that?

468  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 23, 05:28:46
There are some sites that I will never suscribe to, because I think they charge too much.  One particular site I'm thinking of is Peggy Sims.  There's not enough content on it to justify that much money.  I don't mind paying for something like TSR, because you can find a lot of nice stuff on it, and it's cheaper than Peggy Sims too.

You know, considering that she operates in China, and considering the US-Yuan exchange rate, and considering that the avg. Beijing family makes about $2,000 a yr, I'm betting she must make a fortune off of this game.

Meanwhile, there are tons of pple in China who can't even get a proper education b/c of money issues. Her stuff is good, and sometimes I'm *really* really tempted, but then I think of the utter waste it would be, funneling money into a game, when it could be put to better use, that I always stay my hand. Not that I have money to spare, anyways - college student and all that.

469  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Memories- do they give my sims a slow death? on: 2006 February 23, 04:10:04
I am wondering if too many memories will corrupt a sim.'
I had a vampire hanging around forever. He is my absolute favourite and he is not going to die as long as I am alive!
So if he had like, 100 pages of mempries of "meeting xxx" etc and other useless memories, will my sim eventually be corrupted and DIE?
I am kinda worried here...

Thanks. Smiley

well I just checked in my patched game and the PT does not show up in the family tree so for me atleast it didn't change.
In my game all the new born alien kids are linked again after the patch. The aliens born before the patch are unlinked.

DAMN! This makes me regret getting the patch. I got it so that the stupid maid can take the trash out.

Your kids are all by the same PT? So they are half slibings again? pls confirm. Thanks.

No, there was this FA (I am not saying who ...i don't want to get her into trouble). She has a set over at TSR released first as FA. Then she decided to offer it to users at MTS2. It was immensely popular.
The download was slightly different as in she changed the name of the download but the appearance of the thing is exactly the same.

If you read my earlier posts in this thread, I mentioned Windkeeper releasing some of her TSR windows at MTS2 under special permission. Unless you're talking about someone else. (I asked her about it and she said they let her upload the windows on MTS2 since the majority of her downloads are still TSR only)

Its not windkeeper. Its some one else.

Well I can only recall some of HolySimoly's item being in both place

Yes, those items are not Featured Artists items Smiley.

The works I see are certainly the FA's current work on other FREE sites. But I am not making noise.

It may be that the items were released on the other sites first and then later TSR. The FAs do not get paid for these downlaods, I believe.

But I read that the patch brings the identity of the PT back! :/ not sure if its' true or false? I have yet to check it out in the game. I will report back again if it does.

The polli-tech replacement file I use is from laverwinkle and has normal size eyes and pointy ears and I'm happy with it  Cool

Thats good. It mean that my aliens can marry 'normally?'I am glad I won't have to mess about in Simpe then. It was a pain previously.
