426  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 28, 06:04:37
I propose a share policy once discreetly and some people thought I am asking them to rob a bank. I am no bank robber. I just cannot afford to spend so much on subs. I am so skinny I cannot reduce my soda intakes anymore and I don't wanna go topless Tongue

But its ok. I *ahem* have got what I want for the time being so I am *ahem* satisfied for the time being again.  Tongue
Carol's stuff are good and I have been so tempted for the donation sets before but I really cannot afford the 3.50 donation sets. so its a no go. I use almost all her stuff one way or another in my homes.

But I am curious: Does any of you ever pay for her donation sets before? Are they that good. I got my keen eye on a bathroom and bedroom set. I am a sucker for bathroom and bedroom decos.

ETA: Sunair is at TSR but she still updates her free site as and when.
Actually, is sunair one person or one group. I can't imagine how one gal can update so much and still have a RL.

Poor you! Sad I hope the prozac calms you down. Relax , take a break. I am sure things will be ok. Worse come to worse, spending some $ always helps.
428  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sortiing hair using datagen on: 2006 February 28, 03:29:37
So that means you have not delete the excess hairs for the tots and kids yet?You still have them hanging around in ur folder?
That means another 1-2 hours to do those.

Ok, I am going to do the opposite way and see what
1. Stella tutorial first.
2. SimPE way.

Thks for anwering my many questions ! Smiley
429  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sortiing hair using datagen on: 2006 February 28, 03:11:03
So that means after sorting the silly hairs into the silly bins, I must still go and apply Stella's tutorial to get rid of the excess hairs for the wrong age groups?

I started deleting hair already using Stella's instructions because I figured that might make things faster for me? Am I right in thinking that? Thanks so much .

2 hours is pretty fast. You are awesome! Cheesy
430  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: what!? no next EP hint in OFB box? on: 2006 February 28, 02:55:08
Well, if sales of those silly booster packs are good, they might really stop making EPS all together as booster packs are certainly easier to produce for maximum profit.

Is a peeing Santa a buggy santa? I mean, I thought its Maxis' warped sense of humour at work again.
Tongue but whats this about santa watchin kids showering? Lips sealed
431  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 28, 02:52:25
Well, she updates often enough for me.  She has one of the biggest subfolders in my Downloads folder.

Same here. But sad thing is not many recolors.
Maybe we could post a suggestion to her. Carol is one person I don't mind she makes a profit. She is awesome so is her son.
432  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sortiing hair using datagen on: 2006 February 28, 02:51:26
I was thinking of either that or should I just use a quick band aid (Stella's tutorial on deleting excess hairs over at MTS2).
I don't really care if the sims inherit hairstyles not colors. but I am bothered over seeing so many repeat hairstyles of maxis defaults for tots, kids and elders Sad

And Stella's tutorial means I can sort them out in hours not days. I only have around 400 hairs.

Blue, do you use SIMPE or DATA GEN? If its latter, which version? I read that hairtone is buggy so if you guys sort using datagen hairtone plug in any problems?
433  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: sortiing hair using datagen on: 2006 February 28, 02:44:14
Thanks. But Darkmatter and his team said that hair toner was scrapped because its buggy and replaced that with skin mgr. Now I am all confused over which version.

434  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 28, 02:42:30
Don't have. If she have, I won't be here talking about it.
and she doesn't update all the time maybe once a while but not frequent. but its worth paying US$5 for 1 month to get all the donation sets Tongue
435  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 28, 01:44:58
I do agree that paying for a 30 days sub is better than a donation side. I really like Carol at 4ever sim fantasy's donation set but at 3.50 euros, its too much for my wallet to take, even if she promises 50 -75 new meshes. And let's face it, I will only use that donation set in a few houses. so that is not worth it.
But if Carol considers a sub fee , I will sign up.

And for TSR, even with a 2 months sub, I don't download much. I only download 2000 items (which to me are not crap). I go for quality and not quantity. I rather pay for a good item than to get 10 lousy items.

Speaking of which, TSr has been recruting too many FAs. Some of their works are like crap and I don't understand how they get FA-ised Tongue

And Maty the only site worth every single cent of my $.  Cheesy
436  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / sortiing hair using datagen on: 2006 February 27, 13:31:03
I am just about to embark on sorting hair using data gen when I realise that the latest version of datagen doesnt have the hair toner. Dark Matter and the rest suggested skin mgr is a better plugin to sort hair and promise a tutorial which will prob never come now since they have stopped developing this tool.

So my question is : what do you guys who use data gen to sort hair use? Skin Mgr or Hair Toner?
They mention problems with hair toner to sort hair thus they exclued that plug in?
If you are using skin mgr, can give me some help or point me to some guide for help? Thanks Smiley
437  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Patch-Bug/Hack Issues? on: 2006 February 27, 02:23:13
How come ur sims earn that horrible sum of $$$ so easy and mine never does it. I have problems accumlating even $100k for the whole blasted family  Angry
438  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 27, 02:01:37
"Junkies!" (grabs beers for all of us...)

Count me in.  I just added 50 non essential eye brows shapes/colors to my game. I am so obsessed with getting my dollies look right Sad
And I got like 300 paintings which I am sure I didn't use them all....
439  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 27, 02:00:44
Desc the rug and how big it is. What kind of material etc if you dont have a pic. I see if i have it. I have hundreds of rugs.
Ok, rug recolors are my no1 non essentials. Lips sealed
Thanks for offering to look all, but alas, no pics saved and all I can say is that it was peach/salmon with an offcentered maroon floral design and no border. Sort of a modern design with an asian flare. I used it in practically every asian themed room I had. Not very helpful is it?? I've had it for ages and I've checked all my usual haunts so I'm afraid I picked it up off some obscure little site that is now defunct  Cry
On the bright side I am having tons of fun visiting every little unheard of sims sites there is and it interesting to rediscover sites I had totally forgotten about.

Sorry I don't have a rug like that. In fact, I hate salomon color so I can be sure that I didn't have that rug.
I hope someone else will find it for you. Is it possible for you to photoshop a similar design so that if we saw it before and know where it is, we could point you there? Its better than just having a desc since ur desc is very brief.

Ever had to start your downloads from total scratch....once you'd played with a full aresenal of downloads and knew how the other half lives?
Oh yeh, so many times I lost count..I did think it was a good thing at first, you know start afresh, don't get stuff you don't really need etc.  Bullshit.  I spent hours looking for those elusive D/L's, the ones I couldn't live without and ended up with more!  Funny but, I never did find those I couldn't live without.... Huh

Thats cool. I have several sets of downloads I cannot do without.
In fact because I am so picky at downloads, I would say about 60% of my downloads are 'essentials'.
442  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 26, 05:26:28
I've got 1.97 gigs and it loads in less than 4 minutes. I took out the intro movie which helped even  more.

how to take out that movie? Shocked
443  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 26, 04:54:21
I have 1.5 gbs. It takes me 3 mins to get to neighbourhood screen and 1 minute odd to enter a medium sized lot with 5 simmies wearing high poly hair and having a house full of cc objects.

ETS: try timing ur loadings if you have time. take out the folders etc and try different combinations of loading. It helps to know what increases/ reduces loading times. Give u an idea of how to max ur downloads and min ur loading times. Sorry but I am kinda a stats freak when it comes to this.

And Jade's subfoldering is truly more awesome than mine. Mine is organized but simplistic compared to hers truly.
444  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 26, 04:37:57
I subfolder all my downloads and I time religiously. I think there is a slight increase of 1 min or less for my subfoldering. I don't know how many levels you guys go through.
Especially Jade ...can you elaborate or show me the way to urs and bluesoup's discussion if its a open one?

I only have 2 levels of sub folders for each main folder (I must have like 20 main folders).
I am not sure if havnig a messy lump or organized lump helps to load faster/ slower for everyone. For me, its a wee slower and I live with that but I was thinking if if I have 20 sub folders, would it slow the loading? Anyone any ideaS?

And by the way, does categorising hairs into correct bins help to increase/ reduce loadng times? Any impact> I am thinking if its worth to sort out hair using datagen or simpe.but it seems pretty consuming and I been reading the threads here.

by the way, how many downloads do you guys have and whats the loading time? would love to hear from especially Jade here  Smiley
445  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 26, 02:36:04
Saving the photo also helps if you want to organize the objects in the same way as the photo did. Also is helpful for rememberinbg what objects come with what sets.
I would think that having too many subfolders means that the game took a longer time to load since it had to search more in depth for the cc rather than retrieving them from a lumpy messy folder.

I do burn all my downloads onto a DVD. I don't run theme games (don't see the point)  Lips sealed

Sure, everyone's defn of essential is different but if you sit down and think about it, Do you really need that facial hair that looks so similar to that other one I have?
Do I really need 10 recolors of this dress? Do I really need that stupid potted plant which comes with Modern Living Mesh Set?
That's it. That's how I kept my downloads down to 5000...which I think is a healthy number.
446  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why is the road missing? on: 2006 February 26, 02:30:11
My problem was i had veronaville as my landscape, it's nice but damn are there alot of hills and such.  I did surgery twice on my hood to pleasantville and it looks very good now.  First time i did it i repositioned all the houses then i did it again to remove the odd landscape screwups.  Then i replaced the houses once again just to be sure they were down fine.

Definitely a nice Tut J.M.

thats what I did too. Strangetown has some hills tops. So I had to fix it twice.
I used driftwood as the custom neighbourhood. Nice lush flat terrain.

447  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Why is the road missing? on: 2006 February 25, 19:49:17
Thanks Inge ! But I cannot place the lot over the missing piece of road. The game doesn't let me do that.
Anyway, I use JM's tutorial and changed the terrian. everything looks good now and I convert Strangetown into a land of flat and lush terrain.

I am glad that the people here are more awesome than me. I fixed it in less than 15 mins  Grin
448  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recreating downloads folder on: 2006 February 25, 19:22:44
I did ....my downloads were so frigging messy...I recategorise everything till. It took me 3 days and 2 bloody weekends. talk about no lifer.
It is neat now.

The only things to suggest to ya.

1. Be fussy. Don't download everything you like. That will kill ur folder asap. Get only the essentials.
2. Label ur folders well.

Maxis Elder shape sucks more than the clothes. I fixed their body shape with some clothing mesh. They look normal now but I wish they could at least walk faster.
Its a pain to see them walk. Its worse than zombies babbling about brains.
449  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 25, 19:14:52
just out of intrest where did u get the preaty dolls house from ,

I don't build dollhouses. I download them off TSR. Pinecat's house  are pretty good doll houses.
450  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: CONFESS! How many of you pay for downloads? on: 2006 February 25, 19:08:40
I think I will kill my fotune sims if they ever dare to develop a want of big houses. I HATE big houses.
I am willing to pay for clothes (especially fashionable male clothes) and objects.  I like my doll houses to be pretty. If I am going to play dolly, the dolls must at least look right and the dollhouses shld be nice and pretty.

But recently I develop some weakness towards hair.
