426  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 August 21, 14:30:00
... there was an issue where a teen kept looping instead of preparing a meal. No cooking points and he was very hungry. Does that make a difference?

Probably does, since FEY is designed to ignore burnt food, and with no cooking skills there's not much they can make.  In that case, have some type of food in the teen's (or someone else in the household's) inventory.

...where does a novice go to brush up their pirate-y skills and stop supporting EAxis?  I finally caved today and got FT, needing to see what exactly I am missing out on.

I have Norton, and also a penchant for being attacked by viruses each time I make an attemp at getting my hot little hands on an arrred game.  Suppose I will need to change out my anti virus for something better?   Angry

Second first -- get one of the free anti-virus programs out there.  Many of us like Avast!, which is free for personal use, not a resource hog, and works quite well.

To start on aaar! skills:  first, read the 'get rid of SecuROM' thread at the top of this forum, then get yourself over to gamecopyworld to get a no-cd.exe for your game and use only that.  Then, look into torrent clients (uTorrent is quite popular), and read the FAQ and general instructions on their website. TorrentFreak also has some good basic info and tutorials on setting up, securing and speeding up the client.  As suggested above, The Pirate Bay is a good source for finding reliable torrents when you're ready.

Ok, good -- I'm glad to hear that the sign has to be present for this to kick in.  There're some lots where it will come in very handy, and others where I prefer to control their cooking myself.

My secret is out! Smiley

Also a type of glue for kids here in the US, common in pre-schools and elementary schools. Comes in a jar with a brush built into the lid.

It is (or used to be) based on corn starch, so it was quite edible, and somewhat tasty.  Smiley

No kids, nothing good on TV, and the wife goes to bed early... Smiley

Ah, maybe they're attracted to him.  I haven't had Bigfoot move into any playable houses yet, so I don't know about that one...
433  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leaders of the Pack on: 2008 August 19, 15:18:54
Yea, it's happened many times in my game that more than one LOtP shows up at the same time.  Are there babies or toddlers on the lot?  That attracts them even more.
434  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leaders of the Pack on: 2008 August 19, 13:52:23
No, it's EAxis borkage -- if you're not using clean templates, it comes with two LOtPs out of the box.

Heh -- I ran a census last night, and my Pleasantview has 173 playables.  Probably spread over 45 - 50 houses/dorms. I play each one for one sim day (or a bit more if a birth is due), so it's taken two+ years to get to this point and Gen-5. Since I normally average playing two or three hours a night, it takes about a week to cycle through the whole hood now.

Very handy to stick in a baby/toddler's room, too.
437  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Arrred games? on: 2008 August 18, 13:44:24
Prescription: Turn off UPnP on your router.

Unfortunately, that's not always an option -- my DirecTV HD DVR connects to the computers to play audio and video files, but it fails to function if UPnP is turned off in the router. (Or more specifically, the video/audio sharing on the PCs fails if UPnP isn't enabled.)

438  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 August 18, 13:39:46
Not clear on one thing, Pesc -- does the sign have to be on the lot for this to function, or is it like the macro controller, where it functions as long as it's in the game?
439  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Arrred games? on: 2008 August 17, 18:03:45
Yes, if you have an ISP that's smart enough to slow traffic on the standard torrent ports.  However, you have to be sure your router has Upnp enabled, so it'll know to pass torrent traffic through to the new port.

I thought those settings only affected moving sims/pets into the lot, and that you still need something like lotfulofsims to have more than the default born on the lot.
441  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How often do you 'reboot'? on: 2008 August 15, 00:15:16
Same here.  I got TS2 and NL back in late 2005, made Pleasantview my main hood, and have been playing it ever since.  It's somewhere in its fifth generation now. Only hood I've ever rebuilt from the start was Strangetown -- I use that as my test hood for new EPs, etc, and really fouled it up at one point. I made one custom hood but rarely play it, and never play Veronaville. I'm getting fond of the Desiderata hood that came with FT though, and have been playing that one quite a bit as a break from PV.

Turn the testing cheats on, and shift-click on the want to fulfill it.
443  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Insane cow posse on: 2008 August 14, 18:46:46
Yes, to both questions -- nouniprotect and the cow head on the lot. This is one of my Pleasantview unis, which I've been playing for 2+ years now, so I guess the cow has finally been terrorized enough to go into asp failure. Smiley
444  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Insane cow posse on: 2008 August 14, 13:28:00
Not a great picture, but this make me giggle -- as soon as the cow wandered into this dorm lot, he went into aspiration failure. Haven't seen that one before...

Long thread -- for those who didn't read it. Smiley
446  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hack for canceling out of automated prepare food from fridge? on: 2008 August 14, 12:52:30
Sims will never put leftovers away autonomously --> waste.

Well, not 'never' -- just 'never in an unmodded game'. Smiley Dizzy has some hacks that make them autonomously put leftovers away, or get leftovers instead of cooking a new meal.
447  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ridiculous 'follow' obsession on: 2008 August 13, 21:44:02
Is there a safe way to summon LotP? I vaguely remember something about using boolprop is a Bad Idea, or is that only in neighborhoods that don't use the templates and should already have a LotP? My mind is making the connection that boolprop make LotP is along the same lines as using boolprop to give a sim an alien pregnancy. Bad mojo.

I created mine with the NPC creator on the mailbox, and no problems that I've seen.
448  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't sew a teddy bear on: 2008 August 13, 14:18:18
Ah-ha!  Guess I need to keep up with the CEP thread more.  I knew about the borked phone, but not the teddy bear.

ETA: yup, it was the CEP add-on.  My sims can now happily sew teddy bears.
449  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can't sew a teddy bear on: 2008 August 13, 14:10:05
Huh -- I never thought of CEP being the issue. I will investigate.
450  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Making friends freezage. on: 2008 August 13, 14:03:10
Probably not the sim blender, since I have that in my game and haven't seen this problem.
