351  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does your sim want to die? on: 2005 October 22, 02:24:30
The only time I've seen that message is with the InSIMinator - is that among your downloads?
352  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do money sims ever get 'earn $100,000' want? on: 2005 October 22, 00:07:40
I'm by far not the most skilled person with SimPE, but I only see earn 5k, 10k, 25k, and 50k as specific values. There are two more generic wants, one to "earn some cash" and the other is presumable what spurs the odd (8530 etc.) values. Maybe that second generic one can create a 100k want, I dunno.
353  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I don't think this would get you a dream date... on: 2005 October 21, 21:58:33
I don't get that either.  Why would a Romance sim yawn at being instructed to flirt?  They get all excited when I tell them to make out.

I think it has to do with their personalities, like how a shy Sim will whinge about tickling someone or telling a dirty joke. Outgoing Sims like to goose their lovers, but the other flirty stuff is too boring for them. I started a list a long time ago (I was really bored) of what actions each personality type liked and disliked, I don't think I ever finished it though.
354  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do money sims ever get 'earn $100,000' want? on: 2005 October 21, 21:46:30
With NL, they're always wanting "stereo costing at least $2,700" and "game costing at least $5,000", or more specifically the dj booth and the bowling alley. Both of those are 1.) too big and 2.) too obnoxious to have in the house.

My Pleasure Sim wants these things all the time plus the bubble blower, so I buy them and then stuff them into her inventory. That way the want it satisfied but I don't have to look at them or find a place in the house for them. An added benefit to the inventory is that the objects don't depreciate so you can sell them back without taking a financial hit.
355  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Do money sims ever get 'earn $100,000' want? on: 2005 October 21, 18:59:51
I've only seen "earn $100,000" as a LTW, never as a regular want in the panel though.
356  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to achieve LTW of golden anniversary on: 2005 October 21, 17:59:58
I did the anniversary party after NL came out, but before the patch and it worked perfectly at that point.

Same here, went off without a hitch for my Sims.

Neither of my guests showed up (which was actually what I wanted Wink and that didn't matter.

I've been wondering about this since NL came out - has anyone had a Downtownie attend a party? My Sim has 3 children by Mr. Big but the two of them never got married so he's still in the Townie pool. She invited him to each of their birthday parties and he didn't show up for any of them. The only other Downtownies my Sims have as friends are teens and with the leaving weirdness, I haven't bothered to invite them to see if they would show. It kinda makes me wonder if something is wonky with Downtownies coming to parties or if my Mr. Big is just a huge ass. Up until NL, I've never had a Sim not show up for a party if they were friends with the inviter.
357  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Flaming Toilet on: 2005 October 20, 18:12:55
If that's art, my house is a frickin' masterpiece! Now I don't have to feel bad about not cleaning. I call my creation "Entropy Realized". I might have some stiff compeition for the Turner prize, though.

Every time I see the flaming toilets, I can't help but think of them as the birthplaces for flaming bags of poo. That stuff has to come from somewhere, right?
358  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Tri Var House will not Load on: 2005 October 20, 18:03:31
I had Angela Pleasent pledge Tri Var without anything odd happening.  Afterwards I had Angela use a lan line phone to move into TRi Var.(I don't know what I was thinking)  AP walked off the lot, but when I tried to Load the house I didn't her her picture with the other girls.

I think that's normal - or at least the same thing happens in my game when a Sim first moves to a Greek house. Once you load the house for the first time after moving, the new Sims will show up in the loading picture. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like that's much consolation to you, but I think that's the way moving to Greek houses works.
359  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Database almost ready... on: 2005 October 20, 05:17:39
This looks so much more useful than the notepad file I've been trying to use! I'm only playing one family and even then I have a hard time keeping track of them. Just out of curiousity, how would one go about using the date of birth/marriage fields? Would you just note the day in-game the event occurred or use the RL date? Very cool indeed.  Grin
360  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 20, 04:32:59
Seeing as how I can't get into these lots with the corrupt lights, it seems my only solution now is to move all of the lots in the custom neighborhood to the lots bin, bulldoze everything in my existing neighborhoods, and replace them with the lots from the custom neighborhood.

Ugh, that sucks! I was hoping that you wouldn't have resort to replacing all of them.  Undecided At least with the new lot binning feature in NL it doesn't take nearly as long as it did before (package lot, exit game, install lot, repeat).
361  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Accidental death negates permaplat? on: 2005 October 20, 01:59:03
I think old age is the only way you can get a platinum tombstone. Any other cause of death gives a plain ol' stone regardless of the Sim's apiration level.
362  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Too many sims at downtown's lots! on: 2005 October 19, 22:11:11
Is this different from the "ask sim home" when on a date? If it is, I haven't even seen this. Where do you see this interaction?

It is different than "Ask Sim Home". I had a Sim who wanted to ask her date home and that was the only option on the car that I saw so I figured that had to be it - but nope, it's not! I'm not exactly sure what the point of it is, my Sim arrived at home by herself, the date was over, and that was that. I guess if you didn't want your date to hang around on the lot after your date is over it would be useful, maybe there's another use for it that I can't think of.
363  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I need that Fight Club mod more than ever now. on: 2005 October 19, 20:26:08
That's always been the case for me. Whenever a new baby joins the family, at least one of them has a negative relationship with the other. It's usually the youngest, like they are jealous of the other kids for having to share Mom and Dad. When twins are born, one always dislikes the other which is why I force them to play with each other on the dollhouse until they are at least neutral with one another.
364  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 19:19:56
Wasn't there some issue with Pescado's Community Lights on hack? You could try taking that one out.

Yup, you're right. I took that one out and they load just fine. I kept all the hacks that are on Dr. Boris' list but I have been playing without my hacks folder, which would explain why they loaded after I packaged and moved them.
365  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Are EP1/University compatible careers okay with Nightlife? on: 2005 October 19, 19:10:04
I have a headmaster I've moved in and would like to have him in Poojkins update of LJ's education career (where headmaster is the top) but was kind of afraid to try without hearing back from anyone on it.

I was just thinking about this after reading the thread about moving nannies in - so the headmaster is safe to move in/marry now? I remember reading something a while ago about how he was pure evil and could/would fubar a house if you moved him in. Or something like that.
366  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 19:04:41
It's definitely a problem with the pool lights, I've attached the error log in case anyone can make sense of it. It only happens when I put my hacks folder in, I just have to figure out which one it is.

367  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ALERT!!! Sims DNA Being Reset to CAS Default! on: 2005 October 19, 06:49:18
As far as I'm able to tell, my Sims' DNA are okay. I only have 5 playable Sims in my neighborhood so I don't have a lot to go off of but everyone's DNA is showing up mixed like it should. My main adult Sim has red hair(Father)/black hair(Mother), dark blue eyes(F)/dark blue eyes(M), and light skin(F)/light skin(M) genes, her adult sister has red hair(F)/black hair(M), dark blue eyes(M)/green eyes(F) genes, and her 3 children have black hair(M)/blond hair(F), dark blue eyes(F)/dark blue eyes(M), and light skin(F)/light skin(M) genes. This neighborhood was created right after I installed Nightlife and the fourth generation was in their teens when I applied the patch. I am disappointed that the first generation's dark skin didn't get passed down at all and only one Sim still carries the genes for green eyes, but since the hair and eye color genes aren't homogenous I'm assuming their DNA hasn't been reverted back to the CAS default.
368  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 02:33:14
Please let me know if, in your games, you are using smart-lights2, and if removing/disabling this hack solves your problem.

I don't have that hack, when I was having issues my hack folder was sitting on my desktop which is what led me to believe it was a bad recolor somewhere. For what it's worth, ever since I replaced the problematic lots with "clean" copies I haven't had any further problems with any of the lots.
369  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Unknown's feelings towards Unknown on: 2005 October 19, 01:38:53
Are these the Mr. Potatohead Unknowns? I'd love to know who all those are (and if they are safe to delete)!
370  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lots that simply won't load... on: 2005 October 19, 01:30:50
Wow, I thought this was a problem with my computer and not with the game itself, like the new requirements for NL somehow would only let me load 1 or 2 lots at a time (I honestly don't know what I was thinking). I had to package Maple Springs, LuLu Lounge, One-Twenty-Five Cafe, and Sim Center North (can't recall the name exactly) from a separate user account and replace the ones in my neighborhoods. I thought it might have had something to do with a bad recolor since the clean lots would load but I couldn't see any common object between them and turning on the testingcheats didn't occur to me at the time. I haven't had any problems with loading the lots since I packaged and replaced them, though.
371  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Exploiting those Nightlife features! on: 2005 October 18, 20:27:22
I've been trying to figure out now on earth my sims even KNOW to have those thoughts about some sims they do!  My sim invited their burglar friend over.  He was chatting with their little girl and she was talking about a sim she has never met who is one of her mom's best friends.  The burglar was standing there with hearts around the thought bubbles of this sim of which they were speaking.  Now keep in mind NEITHER of these sims have ever met him.  Then that night I noticed the little girl dreaming about the sim of their conversation and SHE had hearts around the thought bubble.

Those are attraction markers and they get passed through conversation like memory markers, I've had Sims do the floaty hearts thought bubble about family members and even themselves. You can remove them through SimPE, they show up as invisible memories with the "reaching the top of the art career" icon. It is definitely weird to see Sims show attraction to someone that they themselves aren't even attracted to or have even met before.
372  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alien pregnancies: is there a chance of impregnation not happening? on: 2005 October 18, 00:19:38
I also gave him three logic skills so we could get through the day in meditation mode and here's something new I noticed:  his aspiration meter did not go down while meditating!  I rarely used meditation before because every time I did my sims would nearly go into aspiration failure.  Hmmm.  Like my daughter says, a way to fix those vampires who just won't stay in bed until sundown?

I noticed the same thing last night while I was playing around with the handhelds in my test neighborhood. I would have my Sims play for about 6 hours on the handhelds, force their wants to reroll, and then meditate until 4PM when relationship normalization occurs. I don't know if this a permanent change or an unintended side effect of another change, but I will definitely be taking full advantage of it when a non-perma plat Sim in my Legacy family is getting close to dying!
373  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to achieve LTW of golden anniversary on: 2005 October 17, 20:25:17
What's weird is that Coral's thumbnail of the party is a window and Herb's is a lamppost.

LOL yup, mine were weird too - a driveway and a bottle of elixir.  Huh
374  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to achieve LTW of golden anniversary on: 2005 October 17, 19:13:35
One thing I'm wondering now, is that stupid spam of family reunion memories fixed or will we still need the bugfix? I haven't had a anniversary party since NL and I have the "noreunionmemory" fix dutifully waiting in my "custom content" backup folder. I'm not sure if I should or will need to put it back in or not. Undecided

I've thrown one anniversary party and a handful of birthday parties where the only guests were family members not living at home and so far I haven't seen a family reunion memory at all. The only hacks I have in my game at the moment are the phonehack and crammyboy's eat more/talk less, so unless one of them stops the memories the old fix may not be needed anymore.
375  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How many Sims are you playing? on: 2005 October 17, 01:17:18
I tried to get the toddlers to interact with each other by clicking on the toybox, the dollhouse, anything toddler-related. No dice. Is this supposed to be an autonomous thing, maybe?

It's definitely not autonomous since my Sims have had their free will priviledges revoked. It's been a couple of weeks since I've had two toddlers in the same house together, but I'm pretty sure I had one go and play with the toy and then have the second one "join". As I recall, the dollhouse especially has weird pathing issues and I had to move it pretty much into the middle of the room (away from walls or other objects) for them both to be able to use it otherwise the join action would fail.

EDIT: Sorry about that, I was wrong about the toddler skill objects - only children and older can join a toddler who is playing with one. Toddlers also can't play with the toybox unless someone takes the toys out of the box for them and even then, the toys can't be shared. They can play together on the dollhouse through the "join" option, though. I had to take a screenie of it because I think it's so adorable. Smiley
