351  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can I fix this? on: 2007 March 11, 00:57:11
Thank you! I understood that.

Now for that Object Data that I can't find. I found Cauldron Skilled, which contains Catalog sort and Raw Data tabs. The Raw Data tab has stuff about price and motives. Is this what I am looking for or do I need to keep searching?
352  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can I fix this? on: 2007 March 11, 00:17:34
I understood what you said up until this point:

To bypass, have the line that leads to the dialog command instead poit to the line the dialog command points to.

I found the thread I was looking for. It was Boblishman's Water Cooler. Post 149 explained it, but of course the instructions were specific to that object. Maybe between what Cyberdodo said and that thread, I can figure it out.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?p=1267655#post1267655

EDIT: Cyberdodo, I found the line you were talking about. There is one for each item the machine sells; interaction-Buy Coke, etc.

The line is line B and it says True C, false FFFC. On the right side of the screen where changes can be made, it says True Target: 0x00C. False Target: Error.

Now what exactly should I do at this point to bypass the dialogs?

The line before that, line A, says true B, false FFFC. So should I change it so that true=C, thereby bypassing line B that has the dialog command on it?

Open the vending machine package and then go to "object Data",

I don't have Object Data...

If i'm reading SimPe correctly then the chips, cookies, energy drink, and coke were cloned from "espresso cups"... can this be changed to "instant meal" so the simmies will dispose instead of wash?

I bet you are updating the older machine, while I'm updating the Energy drink machine. I have a bunch of potions listed instead of espresso cups.  But I'm updating the package from the link you gave in the 1st post. I'm confused again.  I'm editing VM 07. The older version on this page is 6.06. Are you editing one of these?

Then go to the pie menu and check "visitors" on each of the objects and also uncheck "Demo Child". I also changed the attenuation to moderate.Go to the motives tab, for each object, and change Fun from 0028 to 0000 and hunger from 0000 to 0028, same column, and if i understand the help correctly then autonomous needs to just be at 32.

Found pie menu, still can't locate object data.

Maybe some people didn't like my ignorant and obnoxious way of bringing the probs to the creators attention, but heaping on thank you's wasn't getting the little dorks attention either..

While I rarely condone rudeness, I was so exasperated by this guy's attitude that your posts made me crack up. At least you were 100% honest and expressed what I was thinking, but dared not write, less I be trampled by a herd of sheep.

I deleted the spam strings in... um... ? prim strings? ... don't remeber at the moment and i'm playing so i can't look at it...

How do i turn off the spam box that comes up??

Do you mean the stupid pop-up that presents itself when the Sim is finished drinking? If so, I want to get rid of that too. Someone once told me how to do it and I'm searching for the thread right now.
354  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can I fix this? on: 2007 March 10, 22:04:05
What is attenuation for? Demo child?

Is it OK to also check child while checking visitors? I know the animation may be a little off because of the child's size, but as long as it doesn't crash, I'm Ok with that.

While I'm changing fun to hunger, do you think it is OK to add Energy motive? I can't remember if the Coke gives energy, but I'd rather have them go for an Energy drink than an expresso when on a comm lot. It's much quicker.

Did you have a chance to test your new version to see if visitors actually use it and whether the visitor or the playable is footing the bill?
355  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Can I fix this? on: 2007 March 10, 20:25:08
On the subject of Autonomy, the 'Autonomy' setting for the pie menu is in hexadecimal, not decimal. And no, the value doesn't need to be a multiple of 8. The value 64 forces non-autonomy, while a value 32 or below allows autonomous use. For values between 32 and 64, I don't know what would happen. Maybe autonomous only during need despiration?

Just to clarify, the number 32 to 64 ARE the hexidecimal numbers, actually representing 50-100 decimal. Is that correct?

I'm going to dive back in and try again, although I'll never be able to do something cool like getting it to spawn a juice can. So far I've only changed the motives on one item, with specific directions from Two Jeffs. The item was already autonomous. I just tweaked the advertising. But I did it right! So just like a baby who has taken a first step, I'm ready to take a second one. But since most fall down at this point, I'm seeking a little something to hold on to.

Thanks for helping. I'm not at all interested in making objects, but I would like to learn to fix a few items that would be nice objects if their autonomy and advertising stats were tweaked. I notice most people make their objects either non-autonomous, or make it where it becomes an obsession, as JMP noted. Just looking for middle ground.
356  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Unlimited number of Sims -- tester needed on: 2007 March 09, 23:03:53
You fixed the marriage bug? Yeah! Does this also mean that the Greek House move in bug has been fixed too?

As a reminder, qualified Greek House applicants cannot be moved in by playing the Greek lot and asking the Sim to "move in" because a pop-up states that more than zero Sims in a household cause global warming.  Instead, you have to go to the dorm and use the phone for the Sim to move to the Greek House.  This is true even if there is only one person living on the Greek lot.

I just started a new neighborhood and don't have a Greek House yet, so am unable to test it. If needed, I can create one for testing purposes. But I won't go to all this trouble if it has already been tested.

I didn't break it but i want to fix it....

There's a vending machine at MTS2... http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=194814

I have tried "nicely" to bring the problems to the creators attention but s/h/it doesn't care and seems to prefer to wallow in the adulation from the sheep....

I noticed this too when players complained that his new vending machine was overwriting his old Coke machine. His answer was for them to go into SimPe and fix it themselves. I see now that he says he "fixed" it but did not test it and if it still doesn't work...too bad.

I don't understand it perfectly, but doesn't each item have to have a separate GUID? And aren't these Guids "assigned" by SimPe so that no 2 people are receiving the same one to keep different objects from overwriting each other? If so, wouldn't there be over 20,000 (number of vending machines downloaded)  new Guids assigned if each person fixed the problem themselves?

Later I posted that clean bots are unable to see the used cans and dispose of them and that my floor was littered with these cans. His answer? "Sims are pigs. We all have to learn to deal with it." I thought buying a clean bot WAS dealing with it.

I also learned that Sims will only place used cans on the floor or a coffee table and that if there is only one coffee table on the lot, they will navigate to it to place the can, no matter how far away it is. Cancelling the interaction is not useful. It is ignored and the Sim continues to seek out the coffee table. Once it is finally placed on a coffee table, THEN the Sim is able to pick it up and place it in a dishwasher, but not before. I'm assuming that the can must have been cloned from a coffee cup, but the Cup Mod available here doesn't affect this item. They will only place used cans on the floor if no coffee table is available.

Anyway, I also wanted to fix this to advertise Hunger and Energy and make the machine's use autonomous, and perhaps lower the amount of energy that an energy drink gives. I tried the suggestions here, and got pretty lost. Although I didn't break it, I definitely didn't fix it. I just reread his post and didn't find anything about not being allowed to make changes and share it. If any of you manage to get it working correctly, could you be kind enough to share it with me? I don't do uploads of any Sims stuff, and the object would stay with me. If you are unable to share it, could you post a pic or two about exactly how you fixed it in SimPe so we can make our own alterations? The post by Maharis, although helpful, was much too simplistic for me to understand. (...alter autonomy settings from 64 to 32). Must the numbers be multiples of 8? Is the larger number the most or least autonomy? Do you need to change anything other than the pie string menus?

I like this vending machine on comm lots but it doesn't allow anyone except for the controlled Sim to use it. I wanted to make it autonomous, but am a little concerned that it will turn out like a cigarette machine I once downloaded. It was autonomous for all, but whenever the machine charges for the item, the money is taken out of the playable Sim's money. That still wouldn't bother me too much if the price was a dollar, but at $250 a pop, a Sim could go broke paying for cigs for all the townies. Unfortunately, that item was also downloaded from a site whose unwritten rule is "Obsessive adulation only, no pointing out defects. Besides, we don't speak English well enough to understand anything other than how much you love our items."
358  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid pets wants on: 2007 March 09, 20:28:03

the sledgehammer got carried over to Seasons

also carried forward from Pets to Seasons;
collections enhancements
flatten lot tool
rotating floor tiles
revamped collections
inventory hotkey
invite household interface

and I think the custom paintings did too - the folder is there but I haven't had a chance to check in-game so I could be wrong *plans to check*

Seasons is out and I haven't even figured out all of Pets yet.

What key is the Inventory hotkey? And what is going on with the customized paintings? I found a folder called paintings that contains various pet photos, but have never seen these items in the game. What should I be looking for? Do the Sims paint them using some special command or what? For the most part, they aren't very attractive, but it looks like we could replace them with something better, if I just knew what they were for.
359  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Mar MATY "More Awful Than You" CC Treasure Hunt: Hair! on: 2007 March 09, 19:57:57
The "impaling heads" is an attempt to copy the Coneheads, characters from the original Saturday Night Live who later also had their own movie. (Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtain, and Lorraine Newman).

The Sims pic pretty much resembles the originals, except the top of the head didn't come to such a sharp point.

My teens don't have acne hardly at all since I started using BUY.

My teens haven't had any acne since the base game. I thought maybe Maxis took it out or something.

Even though I'm a huge fan of BYU, I don't use it in every household. Those lots with only one or two Sims who have a limited budget aren't allowed such luxuries, just so I can see what kind of interesting things they will do, such as playing pirate in the tub. (I know BYU is cheap, but I like to torture at least some of my Sims).

So is it really BYU that is stopping my teens from having zits? I noticed that my stinkier Sims don't bathe as often as neater Sims even with BYU in the house, yet still haven't seen any acne.

Started getting errors tonight after updating today's hacks. And yes, I downloaded the very last macrotastics that you just fixed.

This particular error occured while the Sim was on the phone. The caller suddenly appeared, then disappeared and the Sim reset. I don't know why BUY is affecting a Sim on the phone since I don't have seek enabled.

I'm attaching one of the many errors.

The desire to stalk and harass children and customers, and bug total strangers,
should be greatly curtailed. Sims will no longer stalk other sims from the
opposite end of the mall, either.

Could someone elaborate on this and give some examples? I don't think that I have seen this behavior in the game although I know that JM wouldn't go to all the trouble of making this mod if it wasn't some type of consistent, irritating behavior.

Who exactly is guilty of stalking? Playables? Playables that are currently unselectable because you aren't playing their lot? Townies? Customers? Is it referring to customers who are busy bugging other customers instead of shopping like they should be?

Is this behavior only observed on comm lots or is it also manifest on residential lots?

I'm not currently using this mod, although I'm sure I need to since it is so awesome.
363  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Possible to make Sims use the high chair more/exclusively? on: 2007 March 04, 12:28:41
I agree with Pes.

But if you really want to stop the Sims from giving bottles to their tots, you can do so with Smart Fridge by Christianlov, available at MTS2. You can turn off the bottle menu so that Sims cannot get one autonomously. That also means no bottles for babies either, but you can use the breast feeding mod so that infants still get fed, or you can change the menu briefly to grab a bottle, then put it back so that Sims can't get them on their own.

Conversely, you can turn off the food menu and make the fridge serve only baby food and bottles. This makes it a nice nursery fridge because it stops Sims trying to prepare food in the nursery.
364  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoying glitch with OFB uniforms on: 2007 March 03, 22:21:26
I had an adult sim who's face would turn elder when she was wearing her business uniform.

I had a whole business that did that. Their faces turned to elder faces whenever they put on their uniform. They maintained their adult posture, just had old faces. The mirror didn't help in their case.

Weird part was it happened no matter what outfit I chose as a uniform. It didn't matter whether the outfit was a uniform, regular clothes, Maxis meshes, or custom. I could put a bikini on them and as long as it was being called their "uniform", their faces would be elder. I never did get it fixed.

Grouchy sims will find fighting to be fun! The more grouchy the sim, the more
fun fighting is!

My Sims love to fight. It seems to be one of their favorite hobbies lately. But since the sides are often pretty evenly matched, most fights go on for hours.

Some Sims, seeing the fight, will run to another room, while others cheer the fight on. After the fight is over, the cheering Sims usually have very low fun motives. They sure looked like they were having fun watching the fight. Is there no way to raise their fun and perhaps social motives from watching? The last fight lasted around 5 hours before they stopped to go to class. The fight fans should receive some type of bonus for using up this many hours.

I don't mind the xmsims female hair with the headband - though the pics don't show the back of the head.

I use it in game. It is nicely animated and the texture looks like hair, although I may be using someone else's recolor/alpha change of it.

368  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / SShack Question/Problem on: 2007 February 28, 16:32:39
According to the RTFM:

The social worker will not be summoned for a child receiving bad grades unless
the number of bad children outnumbers the number of passing children: No more
adopted bad child causing all your good children to be taken away because he
came with a failing grade from when he was taken away before.

I had a child who was having difficulties because I am using harderharder grades. Even though he was taught to study and did his homework every day, he came home with an F on his 3rd day of school. The social worker picked him up in less than an hour.

Since there is only one child in this family, the number of failing children (1) does exceed the number of passing children (0).

Are there no exceptions for when it is the only child? If I had adopted a child with failing grades, and this was the only child in the family, wouldn't the Social Worker just reclaim the kid again?
369  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Weird maternity outfit on: 2007 February 27, 19:59:19
The weird thing, though, is that each day of pregnancy is a different state.  She shouldn't be showing up with a third day belly if she was only first day pregnant on her home lot.

My game has always worked that way since before any EPs or anything. It happens when I play a lot with a pregnant Sim on it that is showing at least the first bump. Then I save and go play another lot. On the 2nd lot the pregnant Sim comes over as a visitor, or you visit a comm lot and see the pregnant Sim. Even though they had the smallest bump when you left them, they will always have the largest bump when playing other Sims.

Then when I go back and play the pregnant Sim, they will have the largest bump. They still get the "wave and bump" when the time is right, but since they are already showing the largest bump, their size doesn't change.

I first realized that this was happening when I made a neighborhood of newlyweds. I let each couple get pregnant, then when their bump was showing I would save and do the same to the next lot.  The idea was to be able to tell at a glance which Sims were pregnant so I could get started on the next family. Then I started noticing that every single female looked like they were in their 3rd trimester.

It is just a visual effect. Nothing bad comes from it. They still stay pregnant for 75 hours and then give birth just fine.

EDIT: If I save a pregnant Sim before they start showing, they don't show up on other lots with a bump. They just vomit in your toilet a lot.
370  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Popping off School Bus with Error Log on: 2007 February 27, 17:41:31
Thank you for taking the time to look at it this log. Yes, the Inteen version of harder, harder grades is one of the updates I did last night, so I'll go back to that thread and try to follow the link to report the problem.

While updating this mod, I noticed a warning to make sure that Inteen mods are loaded AFTER Inteen. I had a subfolder called hacks with all the mods, then the Inteen subfolder within the Downloads folder. Since I use NTFS I realized that my Inteen mods that are contained in the Hacks folder would be loading in before Inteen. So I changed things so I have Hacks, Inteenimator, then Inteenimator Mods in the download folder. So now my Inteen mods are loading last.  So I don't know if the problem is loading order, or the updated Post-Pets harderharder grades, if it was updated. That particular download page is difficult to tell when the last updates were done.

Thanks again for your help.

I'm pretty sure that my Maxis rugs used to be raised too. Otherwise, why would I just recently be noticing them? I know that I could have missed it for quite a while when it happened since I use so many of Echo's rugs. The sizes are just better. But I also used to use the braided Maxis rugs a lot and when I went to put some down awhile back I noticed that they were flat. Thought it was just my game though until I saw this post.

ATI RADEON 9550 256MB RAM. Drivers from February 2007, but I saw the flat rugs long before updating the drivers.
372  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Popping off School Bus with Error Log on: 2007 February 27, 16:26:25
Last night I updated a few mods, then started getting this error. I don't understand it, so I don't know who to ask about it. I'd appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction.

The child is living with his student parents on campus in a rental house. He has a fear of not missing the bus. Every morning he gets on the bus, the "at school" appears briefly on his icon, then he pops back off of the bus and this error occurs. He does NOT take an asp hit on missing the bus. After hitting reset on the error dialog, the child behaves normally at home. There is no "at school" icon on his picture. (with some errors, I've seen the at school or at work icon stay on the pic all day even though they are at home). Later in the day I get the dialog that the kid missed school and he takes a grade hit.

This is a new neighborhood, made according to MATY clean neighborhood tutorial and empty templates. This is the only child in the neighborhood, so I can't do any comparison tests with other lots or the main hood. I did move this family from one lot to another in the Uni hood and the error still occurs.
373  Ye Olde Simmes 2 Archives: Dead Creators / Ye Olde Syberspunke Archives / Re: Testers Wanted: Harder Harder Grades - Version 2.11 (Updated 10/9/2006) on: 2007 February 27, 16:03:29
The only homework mod I have is Monique's which calls them to do their homework at 7pm. The first day the child was taught to study, and has done his homework each day. He goes to school with plat asp.

Although I never expected this child to excel, I didn't expect his grades to drop a whole level each day since he did his homework. So maybe you did add some random dropping of grades.

I added up all his interest points. His 2 highest scores were 21 points each for body and logic. I don't know how to give a child body without either having a parent with an asp reward, or cheating. Actually I just remembered BobL-Numenor Toddler Mirror, which gives toddlers body, but I let the toddlers choose which toys to skill with so that all Sims aren't the same.

Is the hardergrades the version that only goes by logic points? Or does it also work as described with the difference between the two mods being the amount that points affect their grades? I downloaded the harder, harder grades because I didn't want logic to be the only skill that mattered, because then all Sims would have to work hard on logic at the expense of other skills, making Sims too similar to each other for my tastes.

The requirements are essentially the same.  In general, the "problem" is kind of getting over that initial hump/barrier when your Sims first start off as students.  If their skill set is already at a disadvantage, it might be a bit tough for you in the beginning.  The complaint about the original version of harder grades was that, once you got over that hump, it was fairly too easy to maintain good grades.  Hence, the addition of some more randomness.
Ste

Perhaps you should make it where they don't randomly drop a grade during childhood as long as they did their homework, or at least make the drop a half grade instead.

Heh. I would probably have to look at the code again, which is a bit of a doozy.

I don't blame you for not wanting to dive back in. If hardergrades behaves the same and isn't the one that relies on logic only, then I'll go back to that one.

In the mean time, I updated the Inteen post-patch mods last night and now this kid pops back off the school bus every morning, so I have to track down that error. Maybe the kid is retarded and needs the "short bus" to pick him up. That would also explain his lousy grades.

(I exited without saving back when the SS worker showed up in my first post).

Like Pes said-I make sure the visiting sim in on the cemetery lot before 7pm.

How exactly is that done? I can leave the house at 10am, arrive at a comm lot at night time, then return home, still in the morning. So how do you control what time it is when you get to the comm lot?

I do not consider this fashion trend to be a good or sensible thing. At this rate, in a few years, belts will be worn around the knees.

I wasn't talking about those stupid "falling off my body" pants that the kids wear. It's just that most men wear their belt lines a little below the waist, just above the hips, not at the actual waist.
