301  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: THE Community Lot on: 2009 August 19, 01:48:31
Looks a bit messy. And what's the point of having everything crammed into one lot? Surely then the rest of your neighbourhood is full of blank lots?
The problem is that there's a severe shortage of lots in the game. For instance, I have nowhere else to plant sims now because there are no more lots left, and I didn't plant all that many sims. This is what is motivating Project Rabbithole Apartment Life. Now if only we had a MESHER, we could make something AWESOME.
[/quote]

Well maybe if you went into more detail with regards to what you are looking for exactly. Tongue

Anyhow, there's existing meshes in the game that look like apartments already like the space above the shops. There's even airconditioners hanging out the windows above the bookstore so it certainly looks like someone should be living there.
302  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Big bug CAS randomly generate Male invisible on: 2009 August 19, 01:42:55
It's a known bug in the patch. Actually comes from EA accidentally leaving in a reference to a "Gellabiya", an arabic robe, that's in World Adventures.

Since the rest of us outside EA land obviously don't have World Adventures, we don't have the mesh it's referencing and hence it comes up invisible.

Pescado fixed this in Awesomemod, however if you are using the very latest version of Awesomemod and still getting this then report it to him. It should be squelched already though. It is squelched. I just checked. Awesomemod fixes this. Case closed.

He does give new meaning to stubborn doesn't he?  Cheesy

It's almost kind of a running gag for me now. Eh, I am sure I will have to assimilate and be cribified. Resistance is futile. Tongue
304  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Problem Deleting While Using the Color Palette on: 2009 August 19, 00:51:29
I was speaking in general terms about the community, not you specifically, although hey if the shoe fits.

Sometimes my bitching about the cribs is tongue in cheek because I know I've done it for so long. Other times it's genuine with some vain hope to drill it into Pescado's skull (which admittedly is about as likely as TSR hosting PMBD) or at least annoy him enough to get the ability to turn it off. Cheesy

In any case, I'm not afraid of anything just annoyed by it so yeah, comparison fail on your part.
305  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Problem Deleting While Using the Color Palette on: 2009 August 18, 14:20:38
Pescado if there is one thing I have learned in this community it's that people in it sure do love to have their hands held and are afraid of their own shadow. Wink

Have you tried the RazzleDazzle command?  Shocked

Oh noes! Wat Duz it DOO? I can has diagram?
308  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: The Wrath of Pescado? on: 2009 August 18, 05:03:31
My knickers are just fine thanks. I am just trying to comprehend how someone can be literally scared to type a command in a game where you can save your progress at any time. It is a mind bending exercise and well beyond my comprehension to understand such a thing, but if you want to be a BBS-esque pussy that is certainly your prerogative.
309  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 18, 04:59:07
You have to enable it in the config. Also if you want to see the messages then you need to enable to debug story mode popups too.

Alternately you can go into the console and type in:

setconfig UseAwesomeStoryDriver true

and

setconfig InformOnStoryAction true

But you will have to do that EVERY time so it is better to just set them in the config.

Also, if you want to check and make sure the Awesome Story Mode is on type showconfig.
310  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: The Wrath of Pescado? on: 2009 August 18, 04:34:20
I am just flabbergasted. How hard is it really to hit save, then type a command then go 'okay haha, joke's over. Time to restart'. (edit: I originally type resTARD. Freudian slip? Tongue)

Is it really that difficult? Do you think Pescado embedded some command to make your computer blow up? Because I seriously don't get it. I don't get the fear. Of what? It's a game. You don't want to lose something so save before you try it. Big deal.

Also, if something is meant to be a joke or easter egg or whatever then it is intentionally not meant to be documented. Many, many games do this. I don't see the point of whining over something that is not meant to be a regular gameplay feature in the first place.

The only reason word even got out about it is because Pescado mentioned it in the chat room and people leaked it out here, but really, it's just a joke. That's it. And it won't kill you if you try it out without someone writing a dissertation on what it does. Honest.
311  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The NRaas Orienter on: 2009 August 18, 03:58:42
Oh this is nice. Sometimes I want to set some of their gender preferences without having to manually make them all flirt tiresomely one by one. Tongue

Thanks.
312  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 18, 03:57:30
It's just an error log. If everything goes like it's supposed to in your game then hopefully you'll never see it.

I think I've only ever gotten one and that was fairly recently but I am probably lucky in that regard.
313  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: The Wrath of Pescado? on: 2009 August 18, 03:35:00
Now somebody brave 'needs' to post a pic of Disco Inferno - I didn't find it in the Help.  Embarrassed

Oh Jesus Christ what do you think it does? Inferno. Take a guess. If you are that curious then try if not then shut it.

It's sort of an easter egg and not meant to be a regular documented feature.

I am tired of people going 'waaaaah waaaah I don't know what this does but I am too much of a pussy to try it out. I want someone to spell it out for me waaaah'.
314  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 17, 19:01:09
Question, I have two sims who are endlessly spawing copies of themselves all over my hood....  Every time I evict one and delete him, story mode moves another one in.  Help!  If they were content to just exist and not spawn endless copies of themselves, I'd let them live.  I've even tracked them down in my files to remove their saved sim data.  What is causing this and how do I stop it?

I am surprised no one responded to this yet. I thought it was fairly common knowledge.

Anyway, the Indie Stone mod has been known to cause these mass duplications, but really I've had it happen even before ISM came out so it is EAXian in nature, though Indie may exacerbate the problem with it's high volume of immigration.

The problem is the game seems to keep going back and using the families in the library to make new sims. The best solution is to delete all families from the library, even the default ones (though keep backup copies somewhere in case a future patch or expansion complains).

If you end up needing to move families between neighborhoods then make sure you delete the copy from the library as soon as you place them and verified they are in their new town okay. Do not leave families sitting in the bin for extended periods of time.

Pescado has a command to delete the duplicates (destroydoppelgangers? I forget the exact command and am not at home right now; someone else can help with that I'm sure or just type help in the console and look through the destroy commands). I believe it only works on a per family basis now (ie destroys the dups of the current playable family members) but Pescado said in another thread he might expand it to work for all dups in the neighborhood, which would be good.

I know the game stores the duplicates internally with numbers after their name, like Agnes Crumplebottom2, Agnes Crumplebottom3 etc so it should be doable to get rid of all but the originals.

You mentioned in another thread that you have two sims getting jobs then being fired then going to get jobs again, is it possible that these clones are the result of boss spam for each time your sims get a job again?

I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds possible. In any case it's probably a good idea to keep the library bin clear if it isn't already.
315  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 17, 03:34:09
Actually NPCs do grow older, but I think at a slower rate.  My family had a newspaper girl who grew up to a teenager (becoming the babysitter), and then grew up to an adult and became the repairwoman.

But do they still age if no playables ever know them at all? I feel like they exist in some weird Schrodinger bubble and only progress if you force it by observing and interacting with them. I could be wrong though.
316  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 17, 02:19:47
I'm sure this has been explained a number of times, but I cannot seem to locate any reference(s) to it, so I must ask...

I recently read that you should download a new AwesomeMod.package before each play, to ensure you have the latest version. I download the latest version whenever Pescado adds to the thread saying what's been updated/added. If there's not a new post in the thread I assume I have the latest version. Is that not so?

Also, do I need to download a new config file every time I download a new Awesome, or is it OK just to keep the one I have?

You don't have to but it's probably a good practice to get in the habit of doing it.

However, if you intend to report a bug you absolutely should download it again to make sure you have the very latest version and then check it again and see if the bug still happens. Many times people report bugs Pescado has already fixed.

You don't need to redownload the config file unless you make changes to it. Otherwise it can stay as is, although it is a good idea to check it every so often because sometimes he adds things to it. However, it won't hurt you if you have an old config that doesn't have a particular setting in it, it will just default to whatever Pescado set the default setting for that value to be.
317  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: deconstructing the 1am freeze on: 2009 August 16, 23:19:46
Yes it still works with Awesomemod + EA story mode or Awesomemod + Awesome story mode. It just doesn't work with Awesomemod + Indie Stone story mode, but for that you can set it via Indie's settings if you play the house.

If you are using Awesomemod but not Indie Stone and you are getting sims moving out of homes that are ancestral then let Pescado know because it's not supposed to be happening.
318  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fighting the Aging Process! on: 2009 August 16, 21:29:52
Edit in CAS pretty much works okay if you just change the life stage and don't mess with too much other stuff. It will yank some of their traits out though and you'll have to re-add them.

I tried to see if I could do it with the Sims 3 Neighborhood Workshop but although it let me change the age flag under the sim desc settings, the actual sim's age didn't change in game and the game reverts the flag back.
319  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: 1.4 patch is now out on: 2009 August 16, 20:34:46
My only problem is just that I must have my game cd in, the mod itself works beautiful.
Do you try to start the game via the Launcher by any chance? There's an additional cd check in the Launcher which isn't addressed by AM AFAIK.

Ah good point. I never launch from that damned thing so I completely forgot about that.
320  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 16, 18:30:22
As far as I know a playble ghost is just treated as a normal sim for all intents and purposes. They are basically just a transparent sim who goes oOOOoooOOOOooo a lot and doesn't die. Tongue
321  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: 1.4 patch is now out on: 2009 August 16, 18:28:59
Well the only other thing I can tell you is try taking everything out but those two awesomemod files and see. Take out anything under mods/ and it's subdirectories that isn't awesomemod and I'd also move the whole C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 directory out just to test.

I can't imagine it would be a custom content item to cause such a thing but then again in the past I have had some custom content that was made incorrectly do some very weird things and mess with things it wasn't supposed to be messing with so you never know.

Beyond that, I don't really know. It's working for the rest of us. We can't fix something we can't reproduce and I've tried to think of all the possible scenarios I could think of that might cause such a thing, but eh, if you have to get a crack them get a crack. Just keep a copy of your original ts3.exe and tslhost.dll.
322  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: deconstructing the 1am freeze on: 2009 August 16, 18:17:24
If you using Awesomemod and not using Indie Stone then make the home an 'ancestral home' by putting the family name in the name of the house (ie Goth Manor)

If you are using Awesomemod with Indie Stone running as the story driver select the home of that family and go into via the cell phone into the Indie Stone option menu and turn moving off for that family.

Yeah, good luck with that.
324  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: 1.4 patch is now out on: 2009 August 16, 17:40:16
Err, you people that are uninstalling and reinstalling to patch are reinstalling the framework too, correct?

Do you have:

d3dx9_31.dll in this directory C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin

resource.cfg in this directory C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

A mods\packages\hacks bla bla folder also in this directoryC:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3

The latest version of awesome mod (awesome.package) in either C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages or C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages\hacks

The (optional) awesome mod config (aweconf.package) in either C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages or C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages\hacks

The 1.34 or 1.46 patch installed. (Don't assume, check your version see here. You can also check your version in the lower left hand corner of the launcher)
325  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 16, 17:36:20
I don't think the (service) NPCs by default are really touched by story mode, are they? I have never seen one move in autonomously or have a kid or any of that.
