My current set of issues related to 7 thinking I didn't have authority to change certain folders on a secondary drive. After trying to set permissions and having fun in safe mode I took the easy way out and reformatted the damn drive. In my experience people who do normal day to day things on their PC don't normally have issues. It's when you start trying to kludge stuff and get certain programs to do different things that you get to really mess with the OS. Plus it is also fun trying to fix win 7 machines that my customers break.

You obviously don't use it enough.
Some people don't need their hand held by their OS. Oh dear, Narmy can't follow a conversation. I was trying to point out to jeebus that perhaps finds 7 easy to use because he doesn't use it much. I fight with 7 all the time but prefer a windows machine since it's mostly for gaming and ARRRING. Why the fuck would I want my hand held by an OS? Again, if it wasn't for the gaming aspect I'd be on linux.

Perhaps what you are looking for is more like TSM where your sim's motives with the basic furnishings climbs slowly. While I understand that you want to make the game harder, what you are propsing would make it harder all the time. Which would be unlike TS1 where you got to a point where the furnishings you could afford make grinding needs much easier. Perhaps you would be better off making default replacements for a small selection of furnishings to reduce the motive refill and only furnishing houses with those items.

I had the same problem. I used Process Monitor to check which game files were loading during play. Turns out some of the package files were being loaded thousands of times in the space of a few minutes. Removing them fixed the problem. The Process Monitor thread is at MTS.
Otherwise pull out all store content/worlds/CC and make a fresh Sunset Valley - if that is borked, reinstall.

Please stop double posting. You can reply to two people in the one post. Trust me when I say that you are not special enough nor are the posts interesting enough to warrant double posting.
Secondly, you are arguing about game behaviour based on an old version of the base game. Perhaps you should get around to patching before debating game mechanics.
Lastly, bleating misinformation about what AM does and then getting snippy when people point and laugh at you makes you a speshul snoeflake. We don't like speshul snoeflakes here. By all means, get offended and soup; I doubt many people are keen to play guinea pig with a mod not tested on any recently current patch.
If only you had made a intelligent discussion about your old mod, perhaps something good would have come of it.

Has anyone been able to narrow down why some saves just spontaneously corrupt? The most recent two saves are both not loading; basically if I go back to the last working save I've lost about 15 hours of work. I get the corrupted memory error. Last time it happened it ate every save in the folder. I make new saves each day to try an avoid this but I would like to work out a way to protect my progress should I restart this hood. Any suggestions?

I have grabbed both, and will try the save game tonight.
Edit:
So I have loaded it up, and it is AWESOME. I am a bit weary of highrises, just because there were so many issues with Bridgeport; so far it has been smooth sailing. I have noticed that the library near the trailer park [which I fucking LOVE] doesn't have skill books.
