301  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't find neighbor error on: 2005 December 20, 22:07:11
I have a problem - I decided to nuke all my downtownies/townies, and so before that I went through all my Sims memories and removed all their invisible memories and any references to the townies to avoid the corruption. Lots of Sims, but it seemed to go okay. However, I accidentally deleted a furious token on one of the Sims, and now he has an error. It seems to have to do with his idling processes, where the random furiousness bubble would come up. I made him furious with that Sim again and let it go away naturally, but he still has idling trouble. The Bathroom Controller goes into an infinite jumpy loop if he tries to use the toilet/shower - without the controller he just jumps out of the interaction. He jumps out of the interactions a lot while trying to give bottles to toddlers, etc, though he can do other normal social interactions while controllable. Mostly he'll just stand frozen in one place if I don't have him doing something.

My question is, is this fixable at all, or should I just get used to using various hacks in place of the toilet/shower for him? That's the big problem of the whole thing. I can provide an error log when I'm on my own computer, if needed. The error given is 'neighbor not found' or something odd like that, but in the log it indicates the idle processes.

Thanks!

I get the jumping too, but I always assumed that was because I accidentally deleted a furious token from this particular Sim when I was cleaning out his memories, because he was the only one with the jumping. I made him re-furious with them and let it run out as normal, but he still jumps out of certain activities. The Bathroom Uses You hack reacts badly with him as well - he's constantly jumping back and being re-used, so it's a bad loop. Without the bathroom hack he just jumps out of using the toilet. I'll try this fix just in case, though, and it's always good to prevent stupid things...
303  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make Sims have nightmares? on: 2005 December 15, 02:02:06
I was able to induce a nightmare too playing with the Insiminator's motive monitor. I found that they have to have their mood bad enough that the plumbob is red, not yellow or orange, for the nightmares to occur. Other than that, they occured as shown before. Quite neat, I love seeing things in this game I haven't seen before...
304  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make Sims have nightmares? on: 2005 December 14, 00:53:46
Tossing and turning, funny noises, jagged thought bubbles, waking up hyperventilating, looking around. The whole bit. It's actually a really interesting animation.

Hah, that's awesome. Shall have to try that - my Sims shower an awful lot, I haven't seen the teenagers get zits since the base game was all there was...
305  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make Sims have nightmares? on: 2005 December 13, 21:49:24
Thanks for the link... I'm still curious as to how bad they have to be to have it naturally, though! I'll have to observe this Sim, then, who's been in the red aspirationally for a long time now, but she is still in a green mood all the time...
306  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / How to make Sims have nightmares? on: 2005 December 13, 21:25:38
I have a question... how many bad memories does it take for a Sim to start having nightmares at night? I've heard of it happening but I've never seen it, and I have a "Cinderella" Sim in a story that ought to be having them. (Or, well, because I'm sadistic and I want them to, heh.)

I've heard it's bad memories and growing up badly and the like that make them have nightmares, but every time they meet someone it's a good one, every time they learn to make a new food, etc... do you have to keep them from cooking, keep them from meeting people, and keep their aspiration in the red to see nightmares? If anyone knows the "secret" I'd appreciate it!
307  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Baby Harassment on: 2005 December 09, 08:59:33
As I've had a glut of twins lately - no idea WHY, but my last five births (non-hack, natural Try or Risky conception) have been twins and I'm getting a bit tired of it - I just put the noharrassment back in, as I just couldn't stand them mobbing the kids when they're fine in their cribs! Apart from not being able to talk to the toddlers (so of course everyone rolls up wants to talk and be talked to) and not directly pick them up - it's working okay. Still, I'd love an updated version.

So that's the culprit. And here I was thinking that the poor kid's daddy didn't like him enough. They can still pick them up though in my game, I think...

Yeah, you can get them to pick them up using objects like the highchair or the crib, but I've also noticed that with the old version of the noharrassment in, they just ignore the kids almost entirely. They'll let them out after they've woken up, autonomously, but I haven't seen anyone feed the babies autonomously. Which I suppose is the point, but it also means I have to remember to make them do it at all so the kids aren't taken away...
308  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No Baby Harassment on: 2005 December 09, 08:56:29
my download folder is 3.46 and I just cleaned it out.   Grin

Gosh, I couldn't handle that many babies at once.   I just started using the quads and triplet mod and so far all I have had the courage to use is tripletts and that is a circus.    Cheesy

Yeah, I used that for a while, had a couple sets of twins and one of triplets, and I decided I'd rather have the totally unexpectedness of natural twins - I've never really had a problem getting them, unlike some I've seen complaints from. So I take it out and what happens - all twins in a row. The only single ones I had were started with the Insiminator so they never had a chance to be twins anyway. Thankfully it's been broken with a single on the way but I have to wonder if it's chance like the long runs of only boys and only girls is, or something that's hidden.

310  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Identical siblings on: 2005 December 06, 02:03:00
It's possible I ended up doing that, though I have no idea by now, as these were the first CAS Sims I ever made when the game first came out, and I just tried to vaguely make them look like my Bodyshop Sims without actually matching anything up - so I likely used a lot of the templates to start with. Oh well. The clones have been disposed of mostly or are otherwise not going to pass on their genes, so with the Lot Debugger I should be set. *grin*
311  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to make Sims living together keep a bad relationship? on: 2005 December 06, 01:48:28
And if they end up in the hot tub together it isn't long before Buzz wants to flirt with her!  Why is it, in a game that won't allow a YA who's just gone to college to kiss his teenage girlfriend who will join him in two days time, thinks it's perfectly normal for a sim with 29 days to go before he/she becomes an elder to fancy one?  I mean, how many 21-year-olds do you know who go around chasing their gran's mates?

It doesn't make much realistic sense (of course, Sims logic is shaky anyway) but they have to have adult-elder because of differering transitions to elder, as I was just made aware of as my first toddler Sims are now becoming elders *sniff*. Of course, teen-adult would make the same kind of sense, but I can see why they didn't enable it to start with; doesn't mean I don't love the fact hacks let us get around it, though.
312  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Identical siblings on: 2005 December 06, 01:41:44
I think the problem is there are so many ugly faces in CAS that most of us tend to avoid them like the plague and stick to the ones with more regular features, so the parents themselves are not that dissimilar.

It's definitely possible... off the top of my head, the only clone siblings I've had are from CAS parents that I made rather slapdash to serve as parents for the Sims I made carefully in Bodyshop to look like videogame characters. Two of those are the Family Sims I mentioned, and they have some rather unique features, so it's not a stretch to say that's why the kids all look different. This is all in second/third generation, though... I haven't gotten far enough to see how further descendants of those CAS Sims turn out.
313  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Loading Screen Pictures on: 2005 December 06, 01:39:05
The only thing I've noticed that wasn't fairly random is when the Sims in the household get angry at each other. I rarely had bad relationships in a house unless it was for a plot, so I really noticed when the loading picture changed on one. The youngest son in the house, Heath, was a teenager and his mother had gotten married to another man (she wasn't ever married to his father).

This was in the days before the wonderful romance hack which I miss so much, and it was a small house so his bed was in the master bedroom with the double bed. His mom and stepdad were asleep and he got distressed and took a relationship hit with them when he went in and saw this. Later on the loading screen, where he used to be smiling with his arms crossed, he then stood apart scowling with his back turned to the rest of the family, assumingly because of the sudden lower relationship with them. (I never played Pleasantview but I seem to recall seeing Lilith in this pose at the beginning).

Other than this, I've never noticed a change in the relationship screen besides the usual random poses. Now that one of my Sims - having been stuck in red aspiration while I wasn't playing that house - has ended up picking fights with most of her family members, I bet she'll have that pose now too. I'm curious to see if I can get adults to do something different too.

I did have one loading screen after an elder got pregnant via Risky Woohoo, twins so I de-aged her to let her have them, and once I'd turned her back to elder, neither she or anyone else in the house, including her lover and her teenaged son, would hold the babies. Instead, they sat in toddler poses on the "floor". It seems only adults will hold babies in the loading screen, whereas teenagers will always hold their toddler relatives, and if a couple's married they won't hold the toddlers either...
314  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Identical siblings on: 2005 December 06, 01:27:49
After having a bunch of clone siblings early in the game I started using the Lot Debugger, which definitely works... a two-Family-Sim couple of mine have five children who all look different, even if they did all get the father's custom eyes. Four girls and a boy, two got his blonde hair and three got the mother's red hair. The faces are much different on each, which is nice because I have two-children families with the kids exactly alike! I know the personality following the pattern is the big problem with that "firstborn" thing, and I don't know how the looks get so varied by using this, but it works, so, hey. Whatever keeps even more of my Sims from cheating just to get some offspring variety going. *grin*
315  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 December 02, 19:47:36
I think maybe a simple realistic solution (read hack) to fix this would be through the apologize function.  My idea is to have the furious state decay very very slowly.  However an apology would shorten the furious stage by let's say 5-10%.  Queue up 10-20 apologies (so basically get on yer freaking knees and grovel like you have never groveled before) and you'd be out of the dog house (no more furious state) and the relationship partially repaired.  Since sims do not normally apologize on their own, this would leave the whole thing up to the player.  Leave them to be enemies or make them forgive each other.

I've had Sims autonomously apologize, but this was pre-Uni so I don't know if it's changed. Two Romance females I'd moved into a lot to simulate an apartment, along with a bunch of others. As teenagers one was making out with another Romance boy at his house when the 'other woman' just HAPPENED to walk by and caught them, and one of the women apologized to the other autonomously while they were just standing around in the apartment foyer. I also had another Romance sim roll up four wants to apologize to other Sims, again pre-Uni, but she hadn't actually done anything to make them mad at her and when I brought them over there was no way to have her apologize at all... was it her subconscious desire to start a relationship and then catch THEM cheating so she'd have to apologize? Tongue Stupid Maxis logic.
316  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: I look for a specific thief on: 2005 December 02, 19:39:25
I wonder what the chance of burglaries is, anyhow? I've had exactly one burglary in my gigantic neighborhood which is now starting its fourth generation... one burglary in all that time between over fifteen houses? It happened early on, too, pre-Uni. I've been leaving off alarms and trying to get everyone to bed at once to encourage it, but nothing. Does the DMAteleport panel still count as an alarm? I love the randomness so I don't want to force anything, but I have to wonder if there's some newer hack preventing it...
317  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Recategorising hair with SimPE on: 2005 December 02, 19:24:18
You'll want to be careful with using DatGen, unfortunately. I had gone through and categorized most of my hair using it. However, now some of the scalps of my custom skins have been replaced with a random categorized hair texture (I can even identify which one it is is most cases, particularly now that there's a painted-on flower on some of my Sims' scalps). So I'm going to try the SimPe way and see if I can fix that. Unfortunately I sent things to DarkMatter about it around the day he decided to shelve DatGen so I don't think the program itself will be changing soon.
318  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 30, 03:48:24
I think you can set the furiousness with the debug options, so it might assist with stories that way...

I've had Sims who are not furious steal newspapers randomly - they all seem to be the ones with the fewest Nice points, as far as I can tell. It's usually the same few who do it.
319  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EXCLUSIVE!!! Sim Scoops Lottery Jackpot!!! on: 2005 November 05, 06:30:08
I also had this glitch - I had thought it was pretty rare, too. Guess not, heh! Had a Sim move out of his old house with his kid and into the House of Fallen Trees downtown. I'd forgotten I wanted him to bring someone else from that old house too, though, so I invited/teleported her over (can't remember which one, don't know if it affects anything) and had her move in. She brought 5 million or so with her. They definitely didn't have that much at the old place, though they had a good amount, 300,000 or so. Anyway, these are all born-in-game Sims, nothing to do with Uni or dormies.
320  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gaining skill points - the dating way! on: 2005 November 05, 06:16:49
To my understanding, you can randomly get skillups from either an outing or a date, and from my experience, the particular skill was determined by what skills your sim's date/outing partner had that were higher than your sim's.  It's a comparison of skills rather than personality traits.  If that's the case, that would help avoid going over 10 in any skill.

Ahh, that makes sense. The popup made it sound like it was based on personality, but I suppose it could be skill. Without checking I imagine she did have more cleaning points than him, as the free one was his first. Too bad it doesn't happen more often if your Sim is dating someone who's maxed out, say, or at least has a lot more skill points in comparison. They'd be suddenly in high demand for the free "learning". *grin*
321  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Gaining skill points - the dating way! on: 2005 November 05, 05:59:10
Humm I notice that Sims will spontinously clean dishes on downtown community lots now, even the one we do not control.  So if they went to a restaurant and the server would have been slow to clean-up, often our Sim will take over and clean it themselves.

Did you notice if he clean up dirty plates before you saw that message? It could explain why you got that pop-up message.

He didn't, no... I was keeping him busy fulfilling his wants to get his Dream Date, so he was just talking/flirting/etc, all the normal date stuff. Watching one of my red-aspiration Knowledge Sims make yet another enemy... I am so installing that "less autonomous fighting" hack.

I have noticed they will clean up a lot more, though. I took a family downtown one night for kicks - yay for kids in the Crypt O'Night Club - and I had one hell of a time trying to keep them from cleaning up plates whenever they had a free moment.
322  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Where Are Edwin's Glasses? on: 2005 November 05, 05:36:25
Weirdly, I had a boy wearing the child's Harry Potter round glasses grow up to a teen and while he kept the glasses, they appeared to have melted into a weird wiggly oval shape.  It looked freaky and I changed them before I thought to take a screenshot.

The same for me, they were all stretched and melty, so I changed them too after not finding teenage round glasses like that. I imagine the mesh stretches for some reason to fit the teenage face?
323  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Gaining skill points - the dating way! on: 2005 November 05, 05:27:51
Apologies if this has been discussed already, but I did a search and didn't see it.

I sent a teen on two dates in a row, as he had two bolts with each girl and wanted to date both, so I figured I'd see which one went better. At the end of the second date, which ended up being a Dream Date, as they had their goodbye kiss I got this popup, which I had never seen before.

Looking at the personality of his date, it seems she's... actually kind of a slob, with a Neat of 3. So... is this totally random? If it is, there's probably a chance, then, of that bug that happens when you get a skill point via chance card and you already have 10 skillpoints?

324  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Never date a waiter, and other things I've learned ... on: 2005 November 05, 04:46:58
I dont think they changed the odds either its just weird how the game decides when an overload of twins should be born and when nothing but single babies should be born. in the last week Ive had 4 births in my custom neighborhood  of those 4 births 3 gave birth to twins  1 gave birth to a single baby. two  sims are currently pregnant in my custom neighborhood  1 is pregnant with a single baby the other is pregnant with twins.[/quote]

It's definitely odd - and I have the same situation again right now. Two pregnancies - I peeked at one (it hasn't been born yet) and let the other one be a surprise. And, surprise - twins, again. This makes four sets of twins out of the last five pregnancies, and for all I know the fifth could have been if it had been natural and I hadn't started it using the Insiminator. I guess it's the game's "sado-random" way of choosing, since there's also the all-too-common runs of everyone having boys or everyone having girls that many people seem to experience.

Another oddity with this last one, though - the mother had only WooHooed with the father of her twins once, and it was when she was a teenager. It was the autonomous bed. She's ten days away from elder now, and has moved once in the interim from the regular neighborhood to downtown. I was completely surprised when she started having morning sickness (I have Quiet Pregnancy in for more surprise) and thought the father HAD to be the Sim she's living with, even though I've only made them WooHoo and not Try, and I don't think I even have a Risky Woohoo hack in there. It wasn't, though. So strange. That's a LONG time to wait to show, and I have no idea what caused it.
325  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Furious State-Any Mods/hacks to get around this? on: 2005 November 03, 20:30:57
I did not find this to be true at all. I find my Sims get furious over practically nothing, AND they seem meaner...they pick fights without any prompting from me.

I've noticed that too. In a couple cases, especially one where a Sim teen attacked the girl who'd just become her best friend, I was perplexed enough to make her selectable to check and she was in red aspiration - probably due to a relative's death or something. The same with another kid, who'd attacked her brother and I didn't know why. I don't recall red aspiration causing fights so much before NL, but I could be wrong, since I don't usually get my Sims get red (and in these cases it had happened while they were not being played).
