301  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Alternatives for the Kitten Killer? on: 2012 November 21, 20:17:04
BTW TS2 sims are MUCH better than the gooey TS3 blobs of pixels. One of the major reasons I haven't switched.

I have always thought the TS3 sims looked much more realistic than the plastic Barbie TS2 dolls. It is one of the main reasons I would never go back to TS2, in addition to the fact the sims don't age independently. TS3 sims have defaults now which enable people to get that plastic or realistic look and feel, depending on taste.

That cheat is good news. I love the weather but I had seven days of straight rain in autumn and seven days of snow in winter. That's ridiculous, it should be a percentage chance each day. Also, the temps bounce around like a yoyo, there should be more of a relationship between the previous day's temperature and the current day. I understand that in seven days you can't really emulate a curve very well, but it shouldn't just be random.

I also haven't worked out what the damn weatherstone is actually for. My two witches have tried it singly and together and only once did it work - and even then I wasn't sure what it did except give an impressive lightning show.

Curses on hubbies and their silly budgets!  Wink

Get your own fucking money, you plastic tart.

Three out of six of my sims had the overheated moodlet, it was -9 deg. C and they had been outside at the winter festival. They had been playing the festival snowball fight, but the fourth sim did not get the moodlet. Dunno if there's a connection, probably not as other people are experiencing the overheating anywhere in the neighbourhood.

Edit: Sorry, my sims had the sweating profusely moodlet, not the overheating one.

I believe these are the items from that German magazine. I have them filed as EA lots. There is a bunch of sims and several lots.

307  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker on: 2012 November 18, 00:35:24
Having the FPS numbers displayed has always been kind of random for me, they occasionally make an appearance, but not since Win7.
308  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: KT's Store Fixes (updated 11.15.2012) on: 2012 November 17, 07:25:17
I've roofed over (and then made invisible) a couple of gardening workstations. I'll let you know how it goes.
309  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker on: 2012 November 17, 07:21:46
I think the poster is talking about the fps numbers, not the command prompt window. I think it's something like F12 to turn it on and off and my numbers don't show at all. No, it's not F12, but I know there's a toggle.
310  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: New Jezzer Haus - The Fishbowl on: 2012 November 16, 22:34:26
Yeah, problem is, someone would have to go back through and find and move all the lots. Fuck that. I honestly doubt Pescado would agree. Just for the record, I would like to see a sub-forum for lots.
311  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: New Jezzer Haus - The Fishbowl on: 2012 November 16, 20:40:22
I still think it would make a fantabulous gym. I did suggest an upmarket daycare centre for the large empty room, but Jezzer pointed out that you wouldn't be wanting to lug kids up and down the stairs. Cheesy
312  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: New Jezzer Haus - The Fishbowl on: 2012 November 16, 07:08:13
Yiss, this lot will go nicely with my townhouse in the posh part of town. I love the glass tunnel to the garage with the ornamental pool beside it. Also the staircase at the side.

Imagine lying in bed and watching people swim.
313  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2012 November 15, 22:51:55
Presumably this is because of the much-touted clear roofs. Typical no-one thought to check.
314  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Do you currently have all store sets or only what you like best? on: 2012 November 13, 05:28:00
I was curious since all of the Sims 3 content is available here if you have all the store sets for the sake/convenience of having them or if you still only choose select ones?

Furthermore, what sets do you personally use most in your game (and why if applicable)?

This post is heading toward the madness event horizon and accelerating. (Thanks, Terry Pratchett).

A moment's pause for thought should provide the answers you seek, if a moment were worth spending on this.
315  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2012 November 13, 04:00:41

I won't move this post until I have confirmation the file is clean and untouched.

317  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Fire Hazard on: 2012 November 08, 21:34:20
It's because I put the pictures in a table. I noticed myself that there was no scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. I have a wide screen and when I maximise Firefox I can see the images. Obviously, not everyone can. If this is an issue, I am happy to change it and just leave the pictures one above the other, old style.

Oh cheers Jesslla. I saw him in your thread and I like him. Maybe just a little off the nose for me though. Tongue

This is perfect for my alternate Harry Potter 'verse in which Snape is still alive and super rich. Perhaps with fewer fireplaces though. Smiley
Yes, alternate, not parallel. That bothered me after I went to bed. What's your Snape like? Realistic looking? if so, share?

Nitpick: It's the Floo network. All chimneys have flues, but only wizards have Floos.
Ah thanks, I couldn't bring it to mind when posting. Flue felt wrong but...

Neat looking house.  The best way I found to deal with the fires is just give one of your sims the fireproof homestead lifetime reward.  This also lets you upgrade to, and enjoy, auto light or change colour without worrying about your house burning to the ground every other day.
Very handy hint, thanks.

I remember in TS1 you could lay down wall-to-wall rugs, add a fireplace, and just wait.  Your sim fambly would be dead before dawn.
Heh, so that's the way you play.

Recently on MATY, there was a huge and beautiful manor-type house offered for download. Unfortunately it was >50MB and many couldn't even install it. I've had it in the back of my mind to create a house in a similar style for some time, I've never tried an old-fashioned sort of house and I've never built one with fireplaces in almost every room. Although when I say old fashioned, it's really more of a shabby but comfortable home.

When I downloaded 'The Burrow' from Diwtay at MTS and threw together the Weasley family for my supernatural neighbourhood, I was very disappointed to discover the sims couldn't use the stairs. There is a bit of roof protruding over the stairs and I couldn't manage to change or grab it without changing the look of the Burrow. So the lot was functionally useless.

So in a parallel an alternate simsverse the Weasleys now live in an large old manor house, except for Bill and Charles who have left home. What's more, in this parallel alternate world, Harry and Hermione live in the house too. Because I can.

This is a 30x30 lot with the garden mostly unfinished. §190K (approx.). I plan to use it on a larger lot myself, but I want to give people the option of using the smaller lot. The house is 3 stories (including the ground floor); it has 6 bedrooms, a nursery, 4 full bathrooms and 2 toilets. Living, eating and entertainment on the ground floor; explosions and experiments on the top. The nursery is on the ground floor because I am sick to death of butlers, babysitters and random sims always bringing the toddlers downstairs where there are usually no toys.

Let me tell you about fireplaces now. Hur. I had no idea they were so prone to catching fire. There are 9 fireplaces, the Weasleys need them for the flue Floo network after all, and I decided it would be a nice Seasons touch to have them all automatically lighting. I was hoping I could do multiple upgrades on fireplaces, but it turns out you get 1 of 3 options; autolight, change colour or fireproof. I actually want all 3. If a modder makes me a mod, I will build a house to spec for them. Anyway, I gave the sims all 10 handiness points and made the fireplaces auto lighting. Chaos ensued. I have included pictorial evidence. Heh. Incidentally, I called this lot 'Fire Hazard' right from the beginning, till I could come up with a better name. There isn't a better name for this lot!

Just as a side note - has anyone else had a play with the new blueprints for building a house? Cool concept, ginormous rooms, I hope modders can make new blueprints.

So, on to the pictures.

FIRE!
Every single fireplace went up, one after the other. My sims were running like maniacs to put them out
and the fire truck spent all night running backwards and forwards from the fire station. It was total chaos.

323  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Bleakburn Estate (A Victorian Gothic Manor/Residential Lot) on: 2012 October 04, 21:54:25
Yeah, your store stuff is WAY out of date. That might be part of the problem. There is so much on that lot - maybe your machine just chokes on replacing everything.
324  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Bleakburn Estate (A Victorian Gothic Manor/Residential Lot) on: 2012 October 04, 19:06:35
It took me about 4 goes to install it, had to be done on its own, then it took ages to render. It's fabulous, but if my super machine struggles, it's going to be a bitch to play. Also, one small staircase for all that house is going to be a pain. Pity, it's beautiful, one of the best examples I've seen.
325  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: broken install: empty, gray splash screen, blank menus, crashes loading new hood on: 2012 September 26, 00:22:29
Personally I just load all the EPs/SPs, then run the latest super patch. Never had any problems. I suspect running the patch first was the issue, as each successive EP/SP would apply their own patching over the top of the latest super patch. I don't use some extra patcher, no need, I just download from here. http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Download

If you're on Windoze 7 you might want to make your own directory for installed stuff, that OS has funny rules about what you can and can't do in its default folders.

I have an ATI 7850 and it's running the game just fine.
