276  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 09, 14:14:03
Some of those derelicts are not abandoned but are used by Sims to go to work.

I think the EA intention may have been to park in parking spaces first, street second, however they seem to park in the street first, possibly to let the active Sims have the parking spots.  Nice of them.

Ah okay the old 'that's not a bug, that's a feature!'. Wink

You're right though if it belongs to working sims they are just dropping their cars off in the middle of the street. If parking space is an issue I think I'd prefer the old car pulls up to the curb/driveway/parking space then disappears after the sim gets out and becomes the size of a Matchbox car that goes into their inventory way of managing cars.

Hmm, derelict vehicles keep increasing over town for me. The towderelict command isn't getting rid of them either. This is with a fresh save in Twinbrook started after Ambitions was installed.
278  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 08, 20:38:13
Derelict vehicles still appearing in the 23:43 build.

Same here. Running the latest test version w/ Ambitions installed. I'm getting a number of derelict vehicles spread amongst the map, but otherwise no other significant issues. I don't have any 6s or 12s in my current family so have not run into the school issue.
279  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Prima Guide for Ambitions on: 2010 June 08, 04:26:13
I also found the digital version to be poorly put together with low quality images. At first I thought it was because this was some half assed poor quality scan to PDF conversion someone did of the actual book but then I downloaded their preview snippet of a few pages of the actual digital version off of Prima's site and it looked exactly the same with the low res images with artifacts and everything.
280  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Product Registration Mod on: 2010 June 03, 16:00:16
Hmm, I was running with this yesterday and no problems but I just tried yanking it out and the hairs and hospital gown are still showing as available. I assume the inventions would too but I have not gotten that far yet.

I hadn't actually checked to see if the ultimate career bundle items were showing prior to installing this, but when I yanked it out I cleared my cache files so it shouldn't be any sort of residual effect from having had this in.

For what it's worth, I did decrapify the ultimate career bundle prior to installing it but I don't think that should have any bearing on whether these items show or not.

Wouldn't be the first time EA bungled something up.

Oh and for those having issues getting the sims3pack file to load someone uploaded a package version of the ultimate career bundle.

In all seriousness booze effects people differently. I have a friend who is generally a slob but when she gets buzzed she gets super productive and turns into a cleaning machine.

I don't pretend to understand it, but I have seen it happen many times.
282  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 30, 16:21:50
or I will, at some point when I get around to it, create a simple crappy DOS utility to convert a simple NOTEPAD list into a nametable.

Chann already has a utility to convert a simple comma delimited csv file to a string table or vice versa:

283  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Hatchet Falls: Sunset Valley, Redefined on: 2009 August 27, 02:52:34
I'm collecting empty hoods for a new start and this thread was really a pain to read. The question is that what was important to read simply gets lost in the middle of so much assholits attacks - you said that you used custom lots and houses from MTS2 and suggests some ccs to download. As you just suggested and not required, can I skip downloading ccs and be sure that nothing will be borked by reason of missing elements? I have already enough with Riverview that included things that I cannot use in other hoods and specific clothing that my sims from other hoods are using even as bathing suit (one of my sims dived on a swimming-pool using an overall suit). Thanks.

She said that it should be okay without the patterns and stairs but that some of walls and stairs then might look ugly. The game will always backup to an existing material or object if one is missing. So no it won't bork your game though it might make the houses look like shit. The fact that she said it "should" be okay means she hasn't tried it so basically you are on your own but the worse than can really happen is some hideously clashing wallpaper and stairs.

I'm not sure why this is so hard to figure out or exactly how much more you need spelled out. Either try it or don't.
284  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 25, 03:40:59
@IreneDAdler: Those overalls weren't showing up for me at all in the launcher even in the full list tab. I did some digging and at least in the version of Riverview I have they are 4 separate package files of the type CAS part with hashed up jibberish names that are shoved into the Riverview sims3pack.

Anyway, I will try yanking out Riverview into packages and loading them all except the damned overalls and see if that works. Tongue
285  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 24, 03:02:50
I'm not sure uninstalling the neighborhood would take out the game items that came with the neighborhood (kind of like how uninstalling a house doesn't automatically uninstall all the furniture that came with the house, those always stay in the buy/build mode catalogues).  But I'm sure it's possible to just uninstall the overalls themselves, either through the garbage can in the CAS outfit catalogue page, or by finding the entry in the EA Launcher "Installed Content" list.

As for my male sims, the Matrix coat was quite in vogue for a while, but it seems like the farmer aesthetic is the in thing now.

In January it will be Arab robes, trust me. Tongue

But the overalls aren't a separate package, they came with the Riverview one I believe, so I don't think you can uninstall them individually but if someone found a way then let me know!
286  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 24, 00:47:42
Well those overalls come with Riverview so if you absolutely don't need Riverview and don't really intend to play it ever then you could always just uninstall it.
287  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Hatchet Falls: Sunset Valley, Redefined on: 2009 August 23, 21:31:08
Besides the beauty parlor, which is a staple of small towns, I've also come across a number of sort of retreat, get away from it all, be one with nature sort of spas, but the problem is that rabbithole building definitely looks like a high falutin big city spa, so it would have to be disguised or something.
288  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 23, 21:25:48
Almost all of my non played male sims YA+ are wearing those damned overalls. It looks like a scene out of 1984.

The game has a preference for wanting to spawn sims in full bodied outfits vs two piece ones. The obvious reason being you don't end up with heinously mismatched pieces that way. The problem though is that there are so few of them, particularly for the men, that you see the same damned outfits A LOT.

Just wait until World Adventures and you will start seeing tons of sims running around with the Gellabiya on. Tongue

289  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can't get awesomemod to work on: 2009 August 22, 15:52:47
Okay I will try to keep this simple put the attached resource.cfg in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 (delete the existing one or overwrite it)

Put the attached d3dx9_31.dll in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin (if one exists delete the existing one or overwrite it)

Both files are zips because the forum won't allow for .cfg or .dll as attachments so just unzip them in the above directories I listed.

I would also delete the resource.cfg that you have in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages as you don't need it there. I'm not sure if it causes a problem or not but it may and the game may be reading it somehow so I would just take it out.

Out of curiosity, are there any beautiful vista lots?

Well then clearly you guys are not doing the razzledazzle correctly.  Roll Eyes
292  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: 1.4 patch is now out on: 2009 August 22, 01:57:33
1.3 is 99.9% the same as 1.4. They are virtually identical save for some fix for people who were having issues getting stuck during an attempt at uninstalling and for the Mac digital download people who for some reason could not use 1.3. Other than that it's the same damned thing basically.

Also, once again while deleting the cache files is a good practice just to eliminate things that might be causing issues, it will not solve the world's economic crisis and if you are having serious issues most likely it will not help.

I'm not sure what your problem is, it doesn't seem to be the usual oops I didn't patch or I patched but the patch ended up a borked halfway patched install issues.

Needless to say, make sure you are using the latest version of awesomemod. Since it expires I presume you have to be using at least a fairly recent one.

Also might want to double check and make sure you have the right exe version and that the patch took all the way (see here) and also run the launcher and look in the lower left to see what game version it says you are running.

If you haven't already, I would also try starting a new neighborhood and testing just to make sure you don't have a borked save.

Likewise if you haven't already, try taking all custom content but awesomemod out.

If you do all this and have the correct game version and still have issues with awesomemod, but the game runs fine when you take awesomemod out and your problems are easily reproducible and you can save just before they happen then I would get your save file to Pescado.
293  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 August 21, 02:16:44
No, you were spouting on about how computers aren't meant to stay on all the time as though that had anything to do with sims 3. If it is related to how long the game's been running, it's probably not collecting its garbage, letting things pile up until it crashes the game. Bad coding, not some intrinsic property of computers.

I don't care what you and your family do with your computer, but it's patently untrue that computers need to be shut down every night. If you want to spread misinformation, do it on the BBS XD

You know, my parents for years and to this day still insist that electronics "need a rest". I have tried many times to explain to them this is not they case but they simply will not hear of it!   Cheesy
294  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 20, 04:08:29
My on conception of hopeless romantics are people who wish on starts and sit at home and wait for their prince or princess to ring their doorbell and sweep them off their feet and turn their life into a perfect Hollywood storybook fairy tale.

I imagine them as not making very good mates as they'll inevitably come crashing down to reality hard when their mate belches or digs through the trash or leaves dirty dishes around. Then they will assume that they just found the wrong one and will resume wishing on stars and waiting for the one true love ®
295  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Big bug CAS randomly generate Male invisible on: 2009 August 20, 04:03:58
That is not the same bug. This bug only occurs in adult males (not young adult) who end up getting randomly assigned the World Adventures gellabiya but the mesh doesn't exist yet outside of EA.

I'm not sure what to do with your borked sim but if you really don't care about him you can always nuke him. Tongue
296  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Story Driver Beta-Testing reports on: 2009 August 20, 03:49:35
Pescado didn't you mumble something a while back about inadvertently created something akin the Jeffistani find a mate crystal ball? Was this just the code ASM uses to decide who is a good match for who or is there really some object for the lazy who don't want to look for mates and want them to fall out of the sky or knock on their door?

Maybe this could be an option for Twallan's supercomputer Order a bride/groom. Wink
297  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: THE Community Lot on: 2009 August 19, 14:26:08
Quite simple, really. Blocky, Apartmenty, and made from something with MULTIPLE DOORS. Big and tall enough that I can cram a lot of sims in there without ever being troubled by clown-car-syndrome.

So basically a DEE-luxe apartment in the skyyyyy ala the Jeffersons?

I'm not a meshing expert but I could try. Thing is though Nanacake asked Wes about being able to do replacement rabbit hole meshes a little while back and at the time he said his utility wasn't setup to handle them but he might be adding that so I'll have to see if he did.

Back on topic for this lot, I think it's useful. I keep seeing a lot of houses people made for those funky sized lots which were for stores originally. Also there is the finite space issue as mentioned. The apartment thing would be great but still more lots means more sims you can play or visit.
298  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: load sim from bin w/ Awesome Mod on: 2009 August 19, 04:13:10
I believe it can be a visitor you just target them and blammo. Hmm, I will have to test it out. Wink

Edit: Yep. Way easy to do. It's evil but it works.  Grin
299  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: load sim from bin w/ Awesome Mod on: 2009 August 19, 03:40:37
Well strictly speaking Edit in CAS on a sim is an EA debug command, not an awesomemod command. Although Awesomemod allows you to enable it, it's not officially supported, hence the " (EXPERIMENTAL-UNSAFE-UNSUPPORTED!)" note in the config.

However, having said that, awesomemod now has a bodysnatch command so what you can do is make a new sim from a bin template, place them and then have your existing sim bodysnatch their appearance. The bodysnatched sim whose appearance you grabbed will automatically be nuked once the procedure is done. Wink
300  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Big bug CAS randomly generate Male invisible on: 2009 August 19, 02:21:48
No that is NOT what I said. I said IF YOU ARE USING THE LATEST VERSION OF AWESOMEMOD and still getting this problem.

I was trying not to have to load the damned game but obviously I had to anyway.  Roll Eyes I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that.

Well I just loaded up the game with the very latest version of awesomemod and rolled a random adult male A LOT of times and no invisibles so it's fixed.

DO NOT waste his time with bogus bug reports for something that has already been fixed!  Angry
