276  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2007 May 27, 18:31:36
It worked fine for me on recursive. I finished running it last night. The first time I ran it several days ago, it crashed, but that was my fault for moving things while it was running. So last night before bed I ran it on the entire downloads folder with recursive checked. When I woke, it was done.

Before: 4.10 GB
After: <1 GB

It would have had to seen and processed the subfolders because I don't have any files whatsoever in the main Downloads folder. All items are subfoldered.

ETA: Now my post just sounds stupid because the post I replied to has been deleted.
277  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 May 27, 07:59:21
Thanks for your answers. The unusual behavior had left me totally confused. Now that I know what is going on, I can find a way to deal with it. Since I started my hood in Uni, I haven't had any visits from Gardening Personnel, so I had no idea which Sims might belong in that category.
278  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 May 26, 14:33:48
So does your Garden guy show up on comm lots as a visitor? None of the other NPC's do. I don't want him mingling with my playables. No fraternization!

The family instance is 0x7FF6. No badges showing in SimPe though. But he does have an invisible memory of "Get a Bronze Gardening Talent Badge". He is wearing a green Polo shirt.
279  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2007 May 26, 11:04:07
After updating for Seasons, I started a clean hood, devoid of townies. After creation I checked with SimPe and the only characters that I had were the neighborhood strays (by design).

I start playing the hood. When I finally took some Sims downtown, a Sim named Chase Hayes shows up on the lot. Since I am using TwoJeff's visitor controller, I attempted to ban him, first by banning townies, and then by banning down-townies, but he never disappeared off of the lot.

Opening his file in SimPe, he is the only Sim in the Hayes family. NPC's, professors, and defaults are listed under the Pope family. He is listed as an adult townie, no Uni, is unemployed and has no skills. (I'm pretty sure that standard townies are given random skills and a job, aren't they?)

The best that I can figure is that he is the Mystery Sim that all of my CAS Sims had their first kiss with. Tongue

So where did he come from? How do I stop any more of these from being made? How can I get rid of him? I don't fully understand the instructions from the thread that discusses using the lot debugger to prep a Sim for delete. I could just kill him off since there is only one of his type, but since I can't figure out where he came from, the game may make another to replace him unless I figure out this enigma.

Sorting by filename in SimPe, he is user #23. If Sims are assigned filenames in the order that they are created, strays were spawned first, then some of my playables, then he was created just after the papergirl was made, but before I finished making all of my playable Sims. IIRC, I created several Sims, moved them into a lot to make adjustments, at which time the papergirl was created and appeared on the lot and this mystery character was created, but did not appear on the lot as far as I know.

ETA: I just remembered that I placed a lot from the lot bin that had a Coffee Bar in it. IIRC, sometimes old NPC's can hitchhike with these. Now that I think about it, ACR complained that one Sim did not have a token when I visited this lot. Is this the possible cause of this mystery Sim? But if so, then why isn't he in the Pope family with the rest of the NPC's, and why is he behaving as a townie rather than an NPC?
280  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Greater LTW Variety & Sanity (07/16/05) on: 2007 May 26, 09:54:11
Besides aspiration, what other traits normally affect LTW?

I was trying to give a Sim the 'Adventure Career Want' by cycling with the Lot Debugger because he had a high interest in Travel. But it wouldn't show up. After messing around for awhile, it looks like the Sim must be active to get this LTW. Am I right? If so, are there any other LTW's that have these types of limits on them?
281  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Accessory Bin Types on: 2007 May 25, 06:53:59
My daughter just set up The Sims in the other room for herself. I gave her my downloads folder to copy, so the 2 installations should be the same. But she is having trouble with flashing accessories. So I guess that Seasons didn't fix anything after all.

I have also been having problems with the terrain looking like a mirror from certain distances, unless there is an object on that square. I found that changing the default Refresh setting from 75 to 85 fixed it for me. I don't know if it is doing anything useful for the blue flashing stuff or not. Since the two computers The Sims are on in my house are almost identical, (same video card, etc.) I'm going to see if I can find the difference as to why my flashing stopped by hers is evident.
282  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Accessory Bin Types on: 2007 May 24, 09:38:33
My blue flashing stopped when I installed Seasons. I installed Seasons and the Seasons Patch at the same time before running the game, so I don't know which part fixed it.
283  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Bathroom Controller: In Soviet Russia, Bathroom Uses You! on: 2007 May 23, 22:38:48
All Sims who go into the bathroom with the specific goal of taking a shower are being rejected unless they also have to pee, or the action is user directed.

One sim peed himself and then was repeatedly rejected from the bathroom until I lowered his bladder stats. He was then processed properly.
284  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: May "More Awful Than You": Buttugly Broke ass Furniture on: 2007 May 23, 14:23:47
Ooh, that's pretty cute. Does the helicopter actually fly, then? I assumed if it flew, she would have taken screenies of that.

I don't have any toddlers at the moment, but I am curious to find out. As far as the screenshot, she had a tub where the toddlers bathe themselves. But the screenshot showed mom bathing the toddler instead. So who knows what goes on in her mind when deciding how to advertise her creations?
285  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: May "More Awful Than You": Buttugly Brokeass Furniture on: 2007 May 23, 05:10:13

The thing I don't get about these objects (well, one of the many things I don't get) is how they're supposed to be fun. Putting my toddler in a car or helicopter so they can just sit isn't fun to me, but maybe I just lack imagination...

The fun part about FeeEssen's stuff is finding out what it actually does since she can never explain it well in English. I downloaded the bumper car while back because I was trying to find a way for toddlers to join in the carnival rides that I downloaded from MTS2. The toddler gets into the car by itself and rides around the lot. It acts just like a bumper car, moving in random directions when it runs into furniture or walls. The toddler's fun actually improves too. And it looked really cool when I had a large, empty room with quad toddlers all playing bumper cars in it. The only drawback that I can see (other than the bulky meshes) is that it doesn't give any skills, but then what skill can a toddler learn from riding in a bumper car anyway? Best of all, I didn't have to go and unstick any tangled bumper cars like you have to in real life.

I haven't checked out the helicopter though. I also tried out her toddler tent, rideable toy horse on a spring (like in a park), and a few other items, and they were never used by the toddlers, so I don't know what they are supposed to do. Other items like the baby swing, the toddler just sits in like you said. The sandbox is really cool though. It's probably one of the most realistic, usable items that she has made. IIRC, toddlers gain logic skill with it.
286  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Accessory Bin Types on: 2007 May 22, 19:05:03
Would tails go on the back or hips, or should we also have a butt category?
287  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Accessory Bin Types on: 2007 May 22, 18:28:23
Just for the record, some other items I'd put on such a list, if I were to compile it?

- Bin your hair...

  • Remove extraneous age categories.
  • Provide ONE gray for elders. (Many don't even give you a gray color. Others give you 4).
  • "Family" the hairstyle by using the same GUID on all the colors.

The sad part is just as we finally have the right tools to do everything correctly, Sims 3 will be released and we will have to start all over again.
288  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Less whiny buggy for basic game on: 2007 May 22, 06:03:43
Whenever a new expansion pack is added to the game, the game resets. Some mods also cause a reset like this when they are added to the game. It is normal. The Sims will be standing next to the item that they were using when you last saved. All their stats except their bladder will be very high.

Just continue playing the game normally. All of your lots will be reset like this. If you have a Sim that is supposed to be at work, but is at home because of the reset, then you should click on "fix work state" on the lot debugger so that they don't get into trouble for missing work that day.

Did you use the sort button before searching for line 7 ?

No, I didn't. What exactly is being sorted anyway?

Well, once I used the sort button, my file looked like your screen. The screenshot was a huge help. Thanks. I hope this makes it work correctly. I've been wanting something like this for the longest time.

It seems to me (but I could be mistaken...) that on line 7 it should be [prim 0x0002] Expression (Local 0x0000 += Const 0x1003:0x00 (Value: 0x0008))

but it is [prim 0x0002] Expression (Local 0x0000 -= Const 0x1003:0x00 (Value: 0x0008)).

I made the change of '-=' to '+='.

But instead of 0x1003:0x00, I have 0x1003:0x01.
Instead of Value: 0x0008, I have Value: 0x0006.

I didn't make any changes to these two values, even though they didn't match what you said, because my original values were different from yours. I don't know what these mean, so is there something there that I should still change? Or am I hopelessly lost and confused?

292  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Testers Wanted - Realistic Sickness on: 2007 May 19, 12:42:24
I have one problem : my sick sim does not sim to recover properly when sleeping.
I use the lot debugger every hour to see the "plague info". Relaxing on the bed does improve properly the recovery points (RP) and the current severity (CS) lessen over time. Good. But when I put my sim to sleep, the RP goes negative, and then the CS goes up.... The confort is almost 100% and it shouldn't matter when my sim is sleeping if I read your info in the first post right.... (idem for energy, I put my sim in bed when the bar was around 75% (as soon as I have the sleep interaction on the bed for an active sim) but it shouldn't matter...)
When sleeping, the RP goes from 0 to -8, then -12....
I already had another sim died with this mod, although I was trying to get him better (lot of relaxing, sleeps a lot), and I really think there is a problem with the sleep recovery points count.
I can provide you more acurate numbers from the lot debugger if you need (and tell what the sim is doing at the same time).
By the way, the 2 sims were suffering from a fever they caught at work...

ETA : I took a look in the BHAV (I'm no modder, but I'm curious and I like to poke at things to see how they work...). It seems to me (but I could be mistaken...) that on line 7 it should be [prim 0x0002] Expression (Local 0x0000 += Const 0x1003:0x00 (Value: 0x0008)) but it is [prim 0x0002] Expression (Local 0x0000 -= Const 0x1003:0x00 (Value: 0x0008)). I made this change, and so far it seems to work well in my game, with my sim actually recovering while sleeping.
Do I understand right how this works ?

Does anyone know if the sleeping problem was looked into and if it is correct?

I installed Seasons and this mod at the same time. As you know, installing an EP makes Sims reset. It was 8:30 pm when the lot loaded in.  All the Sims had their stats maxed except for bladder because of the reset. I lowered their energy bar just below half way so that they would be sleepy enough to go to bed at the correct time.

A little while later I got a notice that Dad was sick. I only saw the pop-up as it was disappearing from the screen, so I don't know what he caught. Currently there are no illnesses going around the neighborhood. He coughed once, talked to his kid for a few minutes, then went to sleep in the most expensive Maxis double bed. When he woke at 6am he got out of bed and keeled over dead.

Although a deadlier mod for sickness is exactly what I wanted, it doesn't seem right that a Sim whose needs are very high and who goes to bed a few minutes after catching something should die upon awakening.

So I ask, was the sleeping recovery problem looked into?

Pioupiou: Is the 'fix' you described still working correctly? If so, I'll just modify mine so that it matches what you have.

I have a set of defaults I like..reasonably normal looking, slightly less ashen colorations, some body hair and nipples. I have NO idea who made them, however...the file names are 'mydefaultnudesmale' and 'mydefaultnudesfemale'. If anyone can identify...that would be cool.

I think that these are the same ones that I use in my game. I made myself a readme with a link when they were moved off of MTS2, so I just happened to have the link readily available.

http://www.sexysims2.com/showthread.php?t=71168

Actually, I think you are using the newer skins that are linked to in this thread.

I especially like these because there is no problem with the alien eyes that some skins have. If a child is born with alien eyes, they will retain them throughout their lifetime. If born with regular eyes, then the regular eyes remain. Some skins have problems with the alien eyes turning normal during teen years.

For those who are asking for the modified FeeEssen Toddler Tub:

I would be happy to share the 'fixed' version of her tub. But I have searched both MTS2 and her original site (which is in German and doesn't work quite right when translated into Engish) and cannot find any info about her policies concerning her objects.

So if someone could direct me to a page where she has her policy posted, and the policy allows for others to modify her objects, I will gladly post it here in Peasantry. So far I have only seen her post "You can recoloriet". In the meantime, keep your eyes out for recolors of this tub. It screams for a recolor and I can't find one anywhere.
295  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 May 15, 20:29:44
I've never seen it on a completely random person either. By that I mean that the 2nd person that they want to flirt with is usually someone that they already know, but may, or may not, have a high relationship with. However, it does happen quite often and like Tamha, the wants to flirt with the 2nd Sim often comes up when the 2nd Sim isn't even available. But since using ACR and various other MATY fixes the 2nd Sim is usually on the lot now before those wants start showing up.

If the Sim is actually more attracted to the 2nd Sim, then it makes sense that they would want to have those interactions with them, even if acting on those desires would have unfavorable outcomes. But I would really like the Sim to be more attracted to another before they roll up wants to ruin perfectly good relationships. Plus the Sim wasn't able to have a great date because all of his want slots were filled, which again makes sense only if more attracted to the 2nd Sim.
296  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 May 15, 08:37:35
I installed this, removed redundant hacks, then fired up the game.

I load in a lot and notice that the teenage boy has a want to go out with Vicky. While I am still looking over everyone's wants, the phone rings and Vicky asks him to go out on a date. While that won't fulfill the 'go out' want I decide to let him go.

He meets her downtown and rolls up the normal date wants. They then go inside the restaurant. But every time I fulfill one of his date wants, the want slot is replaced with 'do something romantic, such as flirt, kiss, whatever, with Andrea. Finally, all of his want slots are filled with wants about Andrea.

I check. Andrea is on the comm lot. OK. So she is accessible. Then I check his attraction score. He has 2 bolts for Vicky, his date, but only one bolt for Andrea. Plus he barely even knows Andrea. STR was less than 30, I think.

So what caused this?

  • Sadorandomness
  • He really is more attracted to Andrea and the # of bolts is incorrect
  • Like most men, a bird in the bush is more attractive than 2 in the hand
  • This is normal, expected behavior from Sims
  • My game is borked and I need to search for the source of the problem
297  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2007 May 14, 00:16:57
What happens if the compressorizer is run on packages that have already been run through the compressorizer the first time?

My downloads go through a routine. When downloaded, they are put into the NEW folder. After proving them in game, they are moved to the appropriate folder such as objects, clothing, etc.

So say I ran the compressorizer on everything I have today that is not in the NEW folder. Later, I continue to download items, adding them to the NEW folder. My question is should I run the compressorizer on new items after they have been tested, but before moving them to their final destination, or can I keep doing what I have been doing and then run the compressorizer periodically on final destination folders that would have a mixture of both compressed and non-compressed items in them?

Looks like I shaved over a Gig off my downloads.  From 2,5 to 1,4 (those 2,5G includes pictures of all downloads)

Is it doing the pictures? I am currently running the compressor on my Hair folder. Each style has its own subfolder which includes mesh, textures, and a pic. A small handful also have readme.txt where I wrote a note to myself such as "blonde color contains the mesh". A few hairstyles such as Maxis styles that were made available for other ages do not contain a picture.

Anyway, the Hair folder properties show 662 subfolders with 3907 files. However, the Compressor is showing 3275 files being processed.  3907-3275=632. So I ask myself, where are these 632 files? Since there are 662 subfolders and most contain a pic, I assumed that it was the pics left out. (If each subfolder contained one pic, then there are only 30 files left to account for. I'm assuming those files would be the styles that were missing pics).

So have I deducted correctly or are my assumptions wrong? The window that shows which files are being processed only shows Mydocs/owner/Sims2/ then the rest of the file is unreadable as the window cuts it off. I can't find a way to see the entire file name to actually know why there are a different number of files being processed than the folder is reporting having.
298  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: May "More Awful Than You": Buttugly Brokeass Furniture on: 2007 May 13, 23:34:41
feeEssen made the double crib available for two toddlers now.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=232024

Interestingly, the toddlers will change into pj's by themselves and put themselves to bed. But for two toddlers to sleep together in the same bed, they have to have enough relationship with each other, just like adults who won't sleep in beds with Sims that they don't like enough. Because toddlers can't actually engage in relationship behaviors, some cheat must be used, such as using 'testingcheatsenabled' and dragging the bars until the relationship is high enough, or using Insim to make them friends. After that, they will sleep in the same cot autonomously.

Actually, I paraphrased feeEssen. Her actual words were
Quote
New Mesh-Bed for two Toddlers!
They change to themselves her clothes for bed, they alone go to bed and get up alone again.
The toddlers must be able to go and must have with the Bed neighbour a very good respect Das goes with the little ones badly.
So you must have a Cheat.
If opens in the neighborhood the Cheat window (Strg+Shift+C) and enrols the following Cheat:
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
If your family clicks. Now one can put with the Strg key and left mouse key, needs and abilities up / down it.
If it stores and go back to the neighborhood and closes the Cheat with false!
Now both can sleep in this bed.

This is actually pretty interesting. I am using her toddlers only bathtub, although I search day and night for recolors for it. The toddlers undress, bathe, then redress themselves with that tub. I did have to make a few modifications so that the adults stay out of it. She said that it worked that way, but it didn't. Since I use this tub in the nursery instead of in the BUY controlled bathroom, it becomes annoying when adults use it and chase everyone, including the skilling toddlers out of the nursery.

If the meshes weren't so bad, the working double toddler bed and toddler bath are actually pretty nice objects. I haven't tried the bed in-game yet though.
299  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB Business Type Questions on: 2007 May 13, 06:00:13
Another question I have is about home businesses. I stopped having them because the Sims would always get visitors who turned into customers and then complained to the Sims that lived there. Does this still happen?

Although Squinge's hack does help, it doesn't fix it all. It stops all complaints from customers, whether a home business or a comm lot, but that isn't what I wanted. I just wanted visitors to home businesses to behave as visitors rather than customers. But visitors still turn into customers if the home business is open when they arrive. Even booty calls! I was upset to see a Sim finally decide to do a booty call, then watch her beau start shopping the minute he arrived. Even children start shopping when invited over after school with the school bus dialog!

But at least if the home business is closed, their visitors don't start randomly complaining if Squinge's mod is installed. The customer selector doesn't help. It stops chosen Sim types from showing up as customers, but it doesn't stop visitors from becoming a customer when they arrive on the lot even if they are one of the banned Sim types.

That mod was my last hope for home businesses. Home business owners can only have friends visit them after hours.  Since I'm using Comm lot Time, I really wanted a few mothers to make some extra money with a home business since they can work an still take care of the little ones.  But I'm ready to give up on home businesses.
