276  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Community Lot items at home on: 2006 March 08, 17:26:32
Is there a hack that allows this?
I want to be able to sell the cologne at home.
277  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FFS OFB Compatibility List on: 2006 March 08, 08:16:38
The fasterbuyclothes hack is not working the way it used to. Now, no matter where a sim is standing if you click on a clothes rack the clothes choser will appear and they will pull a pile of clothes out of the air (even through objects & other sims) and walk to a changing both. Before they would at least walk over to a rack before the clothes choser would appear.

279  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Annoying jestures of CAS sims in OFB on: 2006 March 07, 16:55:09
Don't know if this is OFB related but I started to notice that when I'm not playing one of my sims and he shows up on a lot, he will go over to someone and say something to them or do something and the person will turn around with there arms crossed and shake their head. My sim would then give them a little shove. The shove is not the "annoy" action but a little shove as to say why are you ignoring me. Has anyone seen this?
280  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hack to send playable sims to a home business on: 2006 March 07, 16:30:52
Is this possible?

I'm pondering making it so playable sims won't show up as customers to stores

Yes, please do this. I don't want my sims buying useless things or getting messed over by the incompetent beauticians at the salon in Bluewater. I sent one of my sims there and the chopped her hair into a mess. I wanted to send her to another playable sim's salon but I can't do that.

283  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Managers and the salon chair on: 2006 March 07, 15:43:48
Just started a salon and it is going good. It is only my sim working with one chair. In two days of working, she received the bronze sales badge and the bronze cosmetology badge and reached rank 3. She only has about 2-4 points in the assosciated skills.
She drew in ALOT of customers and all she had in there was the make over chair. I didn't give any free makeovers and the customers paid without any problem. They didn't have a problem sitting in the chair and they even would sit waiting until I was finished with another customer. Although you do have to be quick as their attention span is really short. What I did when they showed up was offer them a makeover; they then would either "consider" it (green carrot) or walk around for a while. Once they started to consider I would do a sale on them. This would make the bar go up higher and once filled they would sit on the couch that I have and wait until I click the chair to "be stylist". Once I clicked the chair, they would get up and sit in the salon chair.
With all the makeovers done, only two were messed up and that was because her needs were low.

That is what makes this really hard. I spent so much time, focusing on the customers trying to make some $$ that her needs (hunger, energy, bladder) would bottom out. So much time is spent on the business; it becomes a challenge to balance the business, the needs and the aspiration. Also, it is takes time for the business to make money. My poor sim didn't have anytime to chat up the men she was meeting to fulfill her want of 50 dates.

skandelouslala,
how did you sell perfume? was this a home business?

Is yellow pee okay? It has a date of 3/2 in the Director's cut but I just wanted to make sure. What about harderjobs?

Thanks.

But when you use a different sim to visit a community lot that the owner owned, the owner will be in the store and ask employees to do stuff, like restocking, on their own, even if you assigned that employee to do sales right before you (the owner) left the store last time you played it (which I don't like, but I didn't play too long on that store). If you assigned a household member to a job, like register or else, he/she will not be in the store when you use another sim to visit the lot, only the owner is in the store, so you better hire some employees if you plan to use other sims to visit the store.

(scratching head)...so if I am running a home business that has 3 playable characters and I send another sim to that lot only the owner will be there? Where will the other 2pc's be at? (I know bad grammar)
The other household members won't work in the store? (at register, etc.)

(i know i need the guide, i will hopefully have it tomorrow)
287  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Oh NOW you want to play on: 2006 March 06, 21:20:39
Anyone have a family member or friend who is now interested in playing Sims because of the new business aspect? My hubby doesn't get why I am so into the game and has never played before but now he wants to start a business...and i'm ready to point and laugh at him when he fails  Grin.

(and he thinks he is going to start a business in my hood, yeah right!)

I brought them into the store as part of a Casual Group "just for fun," just like going to any other community lot.  They're controllable, so you just give them orders to stock or work the register.

I wanted to be able to have them do this autonomously, like an employee would do when you hire them.

Can the owner perform sales on their own or do you constantly have to direct them?
289  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's your first impression of OFB? on: 2006 March 06, 19:25:27
Amazon finally delivered on Sat, so I only had a few hours to play (where do you all find the time?)
Anyway,

And I'm disappointed that I barely see any new wants and fears apart from the "get a badge" ones.
I have seen new wants and fears. My sim had wants to make a sale to people and gain customer loyalty points. He also had a fear that he would lose customer royalty points.

What I really want to do is get someone running an art gallery
This is my 1st and only business so far and is very profitable (home business), although my sim is in the red (just started out and had shop open for a few hours). I have him selling his own paintings including a portrait of a dormie (sold for over $600) and easels. He had three customers come in (one more came after closing so he just left) and all bought two or more items and 2 of them gained customer loyalty points really quickly. He gained Rank 1 really fast. I only had the gallery open for about 2 sim hours. The back part of the art gallery is a nightclub where I will charge with the ticket machine. I think he is going to do really well.

Now for my questions (waiting for the guide - yes I need it!)

- What makes a customer gain loyalty points? I played the premade flower shop for a while and I couldn't get the lady to gain points for nothing. She would try to "sell item" to people and their green bar would drop. She would "show item" to someone and they would get a negative-star sign above their heads. People only bought one or two things but they left without gaining any loyalty. However, when I had one of my sims open an art gallery, his customers were gaining loyalty quickly with him just doing one "sale item" to them. They were buying up the stuff. What is the difference? The maxis-sim has no skill points and my sim has a lot, is that the difference?

- Can you hire household sims as employee's? If not, how do you get the option to train them to work the register or restock?

290  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Anyone encountered this problem with mail coming on wrong day? on: 2006 March 06, 17:02:09
After installing OFB,
Moved family unto a lot that was previously played but now empty. It was Monday morning and the mailman/lady showed up. When trying to put mail into the box, they kept "jumping" from it (obviously b/c it was Monday so technically no bills are suppossed to come). This kept happening over and over; they didn't leave until I teleported them off. Anyone have this problem?

thanks.

293  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: *Squeal like a little girl* - new toddler mirror on: 2006 March 03, 18:11:22
Oh, I thought this was about the regular toddler mirror. Didn't realize it was for another one (I can't get to MST2 from work). So yeah, I guess if you want the cute toy mirror you can still use it. Hope it doesn't conflict with OFB.
294  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: *Squeal like a little girl* - new toddler mirror on: 2006 March 03, 17:45:02
Now with OFB this shouldn't be needed as teens and adults can take the toddler to the mirror to change their appearance.
295  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2006 March 03, 16:44:27
Okay, I'm assuming I have to uninstall the version I currently have before installing this new one for OFB.

1st question - how do I enable "debug" mode? then how do I disable it?

2nd question - for clarity sake, this can be installed for OFB to keep track of time but you can't hop between lots like previously?
296  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB - What works, what doesn't on: 2006 March 03, 16:33:15
Haven't got the game yet, (darn Amazon) but from what I've been reading from other's...

TJ -formal wear, is no longer needed as now with the arc the sims can get married in whatever formalwear they have selected
Toddler Mirror (MTS2), no longer needed since an adult or teen can bring a toddler to the mirror to change appearance.
TJ- multiple births, there is now an option to force a pregnancy to be twins. I guess it is still need for multiple births though.
297  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Say it ain't so - Brynne, you got OFB? - more than 8 on a lot on: 2006 March 03, 16:25:15
I read on another site that OFB is suppossed to now allow more than 8 sims on a lot.
They got the information from the guide, this is the quote,

Quote
Addneighbortofamilycheat [on/off]: With this cheat activated you can shift + left click on an NPC to add one to the current household. This won't work on service NPCs engaged in their jobs (i.e. maid cleaning, gardener gardening, etc.) but will work if that same sim is visiting socially or hanging out after finishing tasks. You can even add sims in excess of the customary eight-Sim family limit. Won't work on special NPCs like the grim reaper or Mrs. Crumplebottom.
298  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: FFS OFB Compatibility List From AutoScan on: 2006 March 02, 17:44:17
Okay I'm not getting it. What do the hacks that are highlighted orange and have the strike through mean? I guess it means they're not safe but will they be updated or has OFB made them obselete?

thanks
